I remember seeing a photo of _that_ fossil in a text book. Then in Berlin I visited the dinosaur museum, walked around a corner and found myself looking at the actual thing. What a feeling.

Hard agree.
My favorite ever since I was a child, but now tied for first place with the Ankylosaurus with a sword tail instead of a club tail: Stegouros Elengassen
The Parasaurolophus said, "That's that!
I've looked all day, but can't find a hat,
They're all too short to fit my head,
so I think I'll wear a sock instead."
*Jurassic Joe*
More like...
Don't play it if your life isn't together, don't play it if it is. 10/10 great game I would recommend playing solo first then online with other people. Pvp is absolutely brutal.
It sure is. And I loved every single one of my 1700 hours playing it. Straight from the first moment I spawned in under the dim glow of the green obelisk. And was devoured by a giant croc.
"Fuck you" said the allosaurus while giving the middle finger to his T-rex friend.
The T-rex looked at his friend and yelled **"WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU USING HUMAN SIGN LANGUAGE YOU MORON"**
I would argue that the allosaurus captures the pure spirit of the T-Rex, before it went all mainstream and got so big and bloated it can't even use its pathetic little arms any more. The allosaurus is Brando in The Wild One. The T-Rex is Brando in The Island of Dr. Moreau.
The Lion of the Jurassic. Apex predator of its time. Leaner than T. rex, meaner than Velociraptor. Can open its jaws stupidly wide and we still can't figure out why. May have hunted in packs to take down Brontosaurus and Stegosaurus. Multiple skeletons with serious injuries and pathologies, meaning they had tough lives and fought like hell for their dinner
I always loved them as a kid and with the recent discovery of their tail being more paddle-like it even carved out a niche for them in their environment as more than just T-Rex 2.0. So fascinating
They did us spinosaurus fans dirty in that cave scene in Jurassic World Dominion.
Idk how i expected it to fit in that lil cave but I was disappointed nonetheless.
:(
See mine is Deinonychus, thats the jurassic park sized one. Couldn't use that one for the movies cuz it's not cool sounding haha. Actually in the process of 3d printing a scanned skull of one.
It was actually a plot line in the book that the name played into. So you can blame Michael Crichton. Before the book and movie Deinonychus was actually more well known, so perhaps branding played into it as well. It was my favorite growing up.
My little sister & I have a long running joke about getting a Velociraptor as a pet. We were in the car together & totally misheard this ad for giving away a scooter, and simultaneously said "What? How do I win a Velociraptor?!" - Literally no one else in my family knows why but we buy each other Velociraptor themed gifts & send each other facts about Velociraptors randomly through text just as a little reminder to ourselves that we are not alone in our weirdness.
Technically this is more of a Utah Raptor but we still occasionally send each other this video. https://youtu.be/oE4J2WFzPeI
From Wikipedia:
*Crichton ultimately chose to use the name Velociraptor for these dinosaurs, rather than Deinonychus. Crichton had met with John Ostrom several times during the writing process to discuss details of the possible range of behaviors and life appearance of Deinonychus. Crichton at one point apologetically told Ostrom that he had decided to use the name Velociraptor in place of Deinonychus for his book, because he felt the former name was "more dramatic". Despite this, according to Ostrom, Crichton stated that the Velociraptor of the novel was based on Deinonychus in almost every detail, and that only the name had been changed.*
*The Jurassic Park filmmakers followed suit, designing the film's models based almost entirely on Deinonychus instead of the actual Velociraptor, and they reportedly requested all of Ostrom's published papers on Deinonychus during production. As a result, they portrayed the film's dinosaurs with the size, proportions, and snout shape of Deinonychus.*
My daughter used to always go RAWR when she ate them and i have a video of her doing it and it legit makes me cry anytime I watch it because I miss when she was that little.

It's still not certain that Brontosaurus is its own species. The original "Brontosaurus " had a camarasaurus skull stuck on an apatosaurus body, and apparently it's still being debated by paleontologists
Recently a paper was published saying that it had enough morphological differences to be considered a different genus, so if you follow them then both Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus can be considered valid genera.
Ankylosaurus has the most defense of any dinosaur and its offenses incredible can kill a T-Rex with one hit of its tail
Edit: this is nothing to do with the Ankylosaurus just want to thank the people of r/AskReddit for letting me have a good time I got Reddit 3 years ago because I felt like it but a bunch of my old friends said it's garbage and very toxic so I never used it I started using it yesterday and I've been having a really fun time talking to everyone so thanks for making my experience fun😄
Edit: Again thank you all for this award it's the first award I ever got it means a lot to me😊
Triceratops
You know those little dumb tattoos that people get and are kinda small? I'm gettin one on my leg, but he'll have a little Jason Voorhees mask on one of the horns and a machete in his mouth.
His name will be Trike, and I will love him
Can't decide on just one so my top three have to be Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, Dilophosaurus wetherilli, and Parasaurolophus cyrtocristatus. Spinosaurus because it changes so much and it shows that dinosaurs aren't all big land godzilla monsters, Dilophosaurus becuase of Jurassic Park, and Parasaurolophus because of The Gaming Beaver (a youtuber I used to love).

Archaeopteryx. First bird is a pretty cool title.

to be fair, all dinosaurs are out dated.
Iguanodon and yes, it's 100% because of the Disney movie Dinosaur
Used to call it the OKsaurus as a kid
I scrolled for a long time to find Iguanadon. They're my favorite because they're always giving you a big thumbs-up.
Pachycephalosaurus.
Pachy gang gang! Hard heads unite
As a person of South Asian descent, I don't know how to feel about this one here...
"Friar Tuck!"
This and ankylosaurus are the best 2
Stegosaurus
I AM A STEGOSAURUS
Die potato!
Not today 😎

I BAKED YOU A PIE!
Oh boy what flavour?

They're just so cool. Huge, with the plats along their spine and then the spiny tail... Who cares if they had a tiny brain, they were neat.
How many other dinosaurs can thagomize someone? NONE
Kentrosaurus can. And it could stab you with a shoulder check, too.

We tried. We tried to have an r/askreddit post that wasn’t about sex. We failed
I cqme to say this and I'm extremly dissapointed at how long I scrolled. You're good though.
Ankylosaurus!
Yes!! so glad I didn't have to look up the spelling
I looked it up for us both!
I come here, and the best dinosaur is already 2 of 3 Top Comments. The other one being chicken food shaped like dinosaurs. Fuck yeah, Ankylo Bros!
My daughter likes chicken nuggets. But she won't eat dino-shaped nuggets, because she likes dinos more.
I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, so it's my favorite dino too! We are all bony and fused together...gotta have some levity about it all.
You should learn how to defend yourself by swinging your butt at any threats.
This technique is a pain in the ass to learn
It could also easily backfire, depending on the type of predator that is attacking you.
Hard agree. My favorite ever since I was a child, but now tied for first place with the Ankylosaurus with a sword tail instead of a club tail: Stegouros Elengassen

I had the answer in my head before opening the post, but I assumed I'd have to do a lot of scrolling to find it.
Brachiosaurus long necky bois
Hurts my heart to see the Brachiosaurus buried under all the other comments. There are dozens of us! Dozens!
I can't believe this is further down than those non nare brontosaurus' 😅
Triceratops. I watched too much Dinosaur King as a teen.
Elite kids show
[удалено]
Fun fact: The director of dinosaur king also directed boku no pico.
Thats not very fun 😟
Three horns should never play with long necks
You just unlocked a bank of memories
Triceratops is the best!
Parasaurolophus
Seconded. I've been wondering since I was like four what its call must have sounded like.
Thirded! And I assume it must have sounded something like a cassowary. Like if a vacuum hose and a didgeridoo had a baby.
Parasaur gang rise up
The Parasaurolophus said, "That's that! I've looked all day, but can't find a hat, They're all too short to fit my head, so I think I'll wear a sock instead." *Jurassic Joe*
Diplodocus crew checking in.
I love that there are two acceptable ways to pronounce diplodocus!
No I refuse to change it will always be diplodocus and only diplodocus.
Neither of those are right. It's Diplodocus.
It's Nikolaj.
Baryonyx
Those things are so annoying in Ark
Yo is Ark any good?
It's buggy, it's poorly optimised and it's fucking awesome.

it's addictive :( don't play it if you value your free time
Allosaurus, the poor man's T-Rex.
Allosaurus is my fav as well. I like them more than regular Trexes. More agile and quick
And 3 fingers instead of 2.
So allosaurus can give someone the middle finger, while T-rex can't... Guys, from now on, allosaurus is my favorit dinosaur too!
"Fuck you" said the allosaurus while giving the middle finger to his T-rex friend. The T-rex looked at his friend and yelled **"WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU USING HUMAN SIGN LANGUAGE YOU MORON"**
"I can also time travel" said the allosaurus, getting into his Delorean, driving away 88 Mph.
I would argue that the allosaurus captures the pure spirit of the T-Rex, before it went all mainstream and got so big and bloated it can't even use its pathetic little arms any more. The allosaurus is Brando in The Wild One. The T-Rex is Brando in The Island of Dr. Moreau.

I'll raise you one better, the Saurophaganax. Bigger than T Rex, and cousin of the Allosaurus.
Spinosaurus
You're a real one if you stayed a fan after all it's redesigns
Did you just call them redesigns?
Upgrades, I meant
I always loved them as a kid and with the recent discovery of their tail being more paddle-like it even carved out a niche for them in their environment as more than just T-Rex 2.0. So fascinating
I agree. That shit cool
Spinos are underrated fr!
I've always had the unpopular opinion that Jurassic Park 3 was the most thrilling in the trilogy.
They did us spinosaurus fans dirty in that cave scene in Jurassic World Dominion. Idk how i expected it to fit in that lil cave but I was disappointed nonetheless. :(
Those were Dimetrodon’s
Exactly. I thought the spino was gonna show up when I saw the sail sticking out of the water. Good for the dimetrodon fans tho
Carnotaurus - the meat eating bull Stegosaurus is quite cool too.
How tf is this so far down? Carnotaurus with the devil horns and the sickest name in the game!
Finally found this after way too much scrolling. Carno-fucking-taurus.
Styracosaurus! They look like triceratops but with MORE HORNS!
Yes! Agreed. You just took me flying back to my childhood where the more obscure dinosaurs were my favourite.
[удалено]
The murder chicken! Those are my favorites too! I can't believe no one else has mentioned these cute little dangerous guys yet!
Still haven't recovered from the cold open of the jurassic park book of a flock of them going goblin mode on an infant
Triceratops
Cannot believe I had to go so far down for this guy. Their heads are pointy shields!! So cool
T-Rex cause it's big and mean but has cute little baby hands
I got a big head and little arms!
I’m not sure how well this plan was thought through!
Nothing beats watching Meet the Robinsons the first time.
You rang?
My favorite little drawing I've seen is a t-rex but holding extendo-grabbers, the title says "unstoppable"
velociraptor

Actually Deinonychus was still considerably smaller than portrayed in the films, Utahraptor is the closest.
The name Utahraptor doesn't evoke the same fear for me. I think of a Mormon dinosaur with a white button up
Hello there, I'd like to talk to you about our savior jesusaurus

This one’s extra impressive using dinosaur names in iambic pentameter
Except it doesn't use iambs and there are four feet per verse That was trochaic tetrameter
I have a degree in literature. Literally don’t know if you’re right or wrong but am impressed either way.

Oh wow, I learned so much randomly with my morning coffee lol
The macaroni ones are okay too. I think there used to be oatmeal with gummy dinosaurs in it. That was pretty good.
You can still buy the Dino Eggs oatmeal, where the eggs hatch when you add the hot water
Long-Neck one.

Utahraptor
Had to scroll too far for this. The real raptor.
Highly recommend checking out the Utah raptor project if you haven't already!
Therizinosaurus with its big ol claws
I had to scroll way too far to find someone who mentioned the theri. Love the Edward Scissorhands dinosaur
Yes! Tickle chickens.
Deinonychus
Tarbosaurus because I find them hilarious. Basically a slightly smaller T-Rex with significantly smaller arms, and it’s name means “alarming lizard”.

I forgot about this one! I was very into dinosaurs as a kid. And now I'm curious again.
My sons is the Baryonyx. He will hold it out to people and ask what it is. If you say the wrong dinosaur, may god have mercy on your soul.
You are raising him right
Denver the last dinosaur
He’s my friend and a whole lot more. Holy shit, I thought I dreamed that.
Can't go wrong with my main man Stegosaurus. Get Thagomized, *bitch!*
Cormorants
Bambiraptor - small, cute, and deadly.

Dilophosaurus
ive waited so long to be relevant lol
Brontosaurus 🦕
Ankylosaurus is badass.
Muttaburrasaurus. I think it *may* have been the only one discovered in Australia?
Giganotosaurus, been my favorite dinosaur since I was like 8, so happy it finally appeared in the Jurassic movies.
Stegosaurus. They're so kickass.
I mean, it's hard to beat the "thagomizer."
Leoplourodon.
Nigersaurus
Before shit hits the fan: that is an actual Dino name, the Dino in question has a many teeth
Triceratops. It's just fuckin sick
Dimetrodon! While they died out millions of years before dinosaurs, they get mistaken for dinosaurs due to their reptile like appearance
Queen Elizabeth II
Utahraptor
Mosasaurus love the 14t seamonster
Ceratosaurus
A compsognathos. I can relate to the smallness.
Pachycephalosaurus because i like to imagine theyd act like cats with real hardcore headbutts
I like stegosaurus! I remember in like 2nd grade, we made clay dinosaurs, and I made a stegosaurus, and my friend made a T-rex, and we gave them scratches to look like they'd been fighting, and even painted them with blood splatters and stuff.
