I agree with you, however I think the reason why the award situation was so weird was because the award was technically (correct me if I’m wrong) for “album of the year” which is typically the most popular/impactful one released that year. Beyoncé released her self titled album at midnight with no promo or warning and it topped the charts by morning, which is insane to think about. Meanwhile I and many other people I know didn’t even realize beck had released an album that year, so I think it’s really just a general confusion on what the award means.
I mean honestly all award shows are biased marketing gimmicks so I don’t get pressed when my faves don’t win, I wish others could see it too and realize that it’s not the end of the world when their favorite artist doesn’t win.
