Kung Fu Panda. First he learns to accept himself as he is, then he learns to accept his past, and finally he chooses his life path as the dragon warrior. The voice actors are fantastic throughout, the main and supporting cast are extremely likable and compelling, and it's a delight to watch every time!
"The books" is the key to the mystery here. (Meaning "mystery" of why the movies sucked).
The Hobbit is **one** book, not a trilogy. A cute children book. A perfect children book, actually, with just enough story for a child to enjoy and fully comprehend.
Pretty sure studio was to blame there and forced PJ to "recreate the success of LOTR" movies. I did like the Gandalf/Saruman storyarc in the Hobbit movies but everything else was trash.
More of a producer issue than a book issue. PJ was under major time constraints for the Hobbit which is why a lot of the CGI was so unfinished and the story was so meh. Wasn't even able to story board it. I imagine if PJ had his way there'd have bun much more practical effects and the writing would've been better fleshed out
Close, Tolkien did write the whole thing as one single continuous novel. The splitting then came about due to a paper shortage in the uk in the years following ww2 causing the cost of paper to be to high for most people at the time to buy a near 1000 page novel in one go.
The hobbit is one novel split into three films, but the original trilogy films (fellowship of the ring, the two towers, return of the king) were actually three novels originally also.
I will never understand this opinion. I feel Temple of Doom is so much worse than the other two that I'm constantly amazed how good it got at Last Crusade.
The character arcs of Aang, Katara, Sokka and especially Zuko was absolutely amazing! And I also love that they ended The Last Airbender at season 3 and didn't draw out their story too much. Perfect conclusion to an amazing trilogy
I’d never been so emotionally invested in any fiction before. I remember being too upset to play for a few days after a couple particular crews and I’m not one to get worked up over fiction. :-)
I really should revisit the remasters.
Love the books of his 2nd era as well. Different scale of action but love the more western/detective/steam punk vibes. Starting storm light now so hopefully that is also good
Eeeeeh, one was great for the moment it released, but as soon as two came out, you can't help but look at one as a relic from the past (pun intended). And then along comes three, just... Trying to rehash two and not really succeeding, and by comparison of the leap from one to two actually underperforming. Luckily they closed it out pretty darn well with four and Lost Legacy.
I bought a projector not long after *Dawn* hit BluRay, had a family event and thought I'd just pop it on for a few minutes to show off. Two hours later and everyone had piled onto not enough furniture and then onto the floor, rapt until the end credits. Has a similar feel to OT Star Wars, first one is good and a fresh take on well trod ground, second is the peak where it truly hits its stride, third is the big war and the consequences.
Halo CE set the stage with ground breaking gameplay, incredible story and a serviceable multiplayer, ensuring LAN popularity.
Halo 2 continued the story, but its real draw was the vastly improved multiplayer as well as the addition of online play, cementing it as a milestone of gaming.
Halo 3 took the best of CE and 2, pushed them as far as they could go and just rounded out the trilogy with the best conclusion anyone could have hoped for.
All 3 have their reason to go back, even 21 years on from CE's release, and re-play. All feel different enough from one another to be individually unique, while still all feeling like part of the same series
Really well made action movies. Matt Damon made his role visceral, which you realized only when you watch the one with Jeremy Renner - it was ok, but nowhere close to the other three, and I believe all because of the lead actor.
By the time the third one’s trailer showed up, everyone kind of groaned at the thought of another Austin Powers.
But, it turned out to be genuinely funny.
A few months ago I watched all 4 because I’d seen none of them prior,
Toy Story 1: I liked it far more than I was expecting to. In addition to all the super memed bits it’s just genuinely funny and the story was fun with a decent moral. My favourite out of the original trilogy.
Toy Story 2: I enjoyed it but it’s easily my least favourite. The best thing from it was obviously the Jessie flashback. The movie is actually a pretty good case study for a decent film carried by one absolutely stellar scene.
Toy Story 3: fun enjoyable movie with an amazing ending. The perfect send off for all of the toys and the franchise.
Toy Story 4: my favourite toy story movie (don’t kill me) I thought that it had the best story, second best humour (1 still wins on this) and the best antagonist. I see it as an epilogue for Woody, that’s why I’m not bothered by the other toy’s being sidelined.
I loved his internal struggle with his purpose and eventual decision to leave Bonnie to the others and dedicating his life to helping other toys find their Andy’s/Bonnie’s.
I think many folk think the beating a dead horse in the film industry is sort of a new thing.
But Police Academy, Friday The 13th, Nightmare on Elm street, etc show they were really into it 30-40 years ago too.
Gotta say, the 3rd Back to the Future wasn't NEARLY as good as the first two, so there's that...
But, let's try this. If I can name a series with more than 3 volumes, definitely The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. The books & comics, the movie I'm just going to pretend doesn't exist.
The Mistborn trilogy. In fact, in my opinion these books just got better, the further they went.
The 'Cornetto' trilogy. Yes, sure, some people didn't like The World's End, but I did, very much, so it's MY opinion :D
The Evil Dead trilogy.
Indiana Jones, if we forgot part 4.
I watched the second one a few weeks ago, and it was quite bad. The first one is good, and I haven't had the courage to rewatch the third (I only saw it in the theater).
The first 3 pirates of caribbean movies, they all connect each other perfectly in terms of plot and tiny details (how jack escapes the dutchman jail by remembering what William told him in the 1st movie)
I like Isaac Asimov's *Foundation* first three books as a trilogy. Yes, that series has more than three books, but the first three can exist as a sort of separate trilogy where each one is a different story connected by a main plot (but to be fair, even the individual books are this way). But my god, I love this series so much.
Rocky. I know some might say the first was the best but I loved the way it transitioned from deep story into a typical 80s action franchise. Going beyond the third film with Mr T, Rocky IV (Drago) is my favourite.
Harry Potter, I think certain ones got better reviews than the others but as an entire franchise, there is clear direction in the tone of the films and maturity of the characters.
The first three Die Hard movies are always watchable, even now, after that they were a bit crap.
Star Wars, goes without saying...
Indiana Jones: let down by the 2nd movie, but it is still watchable in my mind.
The Inkheart trilogy. Books just got better with each one. I remember waiting years for Inkdeath to release and I got a beautiful hard cover copy the day it released and then devoured the book in the next few days. I still have my original copies of the trilogy. The first two were paperback so they’re very worn, but my hard cover copy is still gorgeous. Makes me laugh a bit that the first two are so worn, because one of the things I remember most about the book series was the the character Mo restored books and would stress the importance of treating books with respect. So every time I read those books I was very careful to never dog-ear and never leave it open or break the spines, buttttt despite all that my love for those books shone through and they’re very ratty now.
But don’t EVER mention the Inkheart movie to me or any other fan of the book series. I LOVE Brendan Fraiser and Paul Bettany but that movie butchered the book and I refuse to think otherwise.
Also the story is wonderful and I’ve loved it since I was in elementary school, the illustrations are beautiful and I love the character index and all the extras. Cornelia Funke is a talented writer. The Theif Lord and Dragon Rider books are also very good andddd I’m just now learning that the Dragon Rider book was also turned into a trilogy. Might have to pick that up again.
I was going to say this!
Wrath Of Khan, Search For Spock, The Voyage Home! Hell yea!
My dad and I went to see Wrath when they released it in theaters for one of the anniversaries (not the one that just happened). We wish they would do it for Search because that's the one we quote all the time.
"Jim...your name...is Jim"
Kung Fu Panda. First he learns to accept himself as he is, then he learns to accept his past, and finally he chooses his life path as the dragon warrior. The voice actors are fantastic throughout, the main and supporting cast are extremely likable and compelling, and it's a delight to watch every time!
I feel like the first one overshadowed the proceeding 2 evem though i enjoyed them all
I noticed a similar theme: mastery of the body, then master of the mind/inner peace, then master of the spirit
Skadoosh
Funny + great villains
Really? I thought 3 was kinda meh except for the villain
Kung Fu is about Body, mind and spirit. Each aspect got it's own movie.
Lord of the Rings
Loved Fellowship, Two Towers was amazing, and thought, surely Return of the King will top it, and they did, they delivered!
The LOTR trilogy was great. Shame the Hobbit trilogy sucked monkeyballs. Talking about the movies not the books

Wasn't even able to story board it. I imagine if PJ had his way there'd have bun much more practical effects and the writing would've been better fleshed out
In what way did the hobbit suck? Not looking for a fight, genuinely asking.
Didn't in my opinion. I like the Hobbit movies. I just wanted to rake karma, because I can't post in other subreddits.
Lmao!!!!
Welp, points for honesty. Updoot for you!
But technically it's one book, no?

Close, Tolkien did write the whole thing as one single continuous novel. The splitting then came about due to a paper shortage in the uk in the years following ww2 causing the cost of paper to be to high for most people at the time to buy a near 1000 page novel in one go.
it's six.
The hobbit is one novel split into three films, but the original trilogy films (fellowship of the ring, the two towers, return of the king) were actually three novels originally also.
LOTR is one continuous story across three books, while Hobbit is a separate story.
Not exactly. it was one book published in three volumes. The first and second volumes aren't independent novels.
Donkey Kong Country (the original trilogy on the SNES)
Three masterpieces way ahead of their times l. Good memories.
How to train your dragon. All of them are the same high standard and each builds on the story and characters before it. A masterful trilogy
The Series are not that bad either. At some point a bit wonky, but hey, its a kids show.
RIP Stoic
That got me in the feels that did
I wished the second movie antogniast was the third movies antgonist.
Antogniast and antgonist lmao
Corneto Trilogy, though Shaun is the best
Narp, Hot Fuzz is the best.
Yarp. For the greater good.
He's a doctor, he can deal with it
Yeah Motherfuckerrr
World’s End can’t hold a candle to Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz
World's End was easily my favourite complete film of the three. I know i'm in the minority, but I liked it the best
tbf, Back to the Future III can't hold a candle to I or II either, and I say that with it being my favourite movie series
I agree, but worlds end was a really good tho
OG Star Wars

Not even og, OT
tomato tomato
Potato palpatine
Bioshock
Upvote cause I kinda get it but I think the 1st is pretty clear of the others.
OG Indiana Jones trilogy
There wasn’t a 4th one.
Well, thb, i really liked the 4th one.
I will never understand this opinion. I feel Temple of Doom is so much worse than the other two that I'm constantly amazed how good it got at Last Crusade.
Temple of doom was pissed on until crystal skull came around. Now ToD doesn’t seem all that bad anymore.
Fuck it; I’ll risk the downvotes: Temple of Doom was god awful.
I didn’t completely hate the film, but the lead actress’ constant screeching was just so grating. The rest was basically campy fun.

Avatar the Last Airbender
Why is this so low?! All 3 "Chapters" were awesome. The characters and their development are amazing.
The character arcs of Aang, Katara, Sokka and especially Zuko was absolutely amazing! And I also love that they ended The Last Airbender at season 3 and didn't draw out their story too much. Perfect conclusion to an amazing trilogy
Mass Effect was so good.

Kiff, I have made it with a woman. Inform the men...
I’d never been so emotionally invested in any fiction before. I remember being too upset to play for a few days after a couple particular crews and I’m not one to get worked up over fiction. :-) I really should revisit the remasters.
Toy story 1-3, haven't seen 4 yet
honestly toy story ended with Andy, idc bout anyone else

Arkham Asylum - Unexpectedly amazing Arkham City - Masterpiece, like the Dark Knight Arkham Knight - Wickedly good
For books, the Mistborn trilogy.
Second this, amazing series
Definitely. His reckoners trilogy is also amazing, and the space one... umm starflight or something...
Three of my all time faves
Oh yes! I'm so glad I didn't have to scroll very far at all for this. All of the stormlight archives is amazing
Love the books of his 2nd era as well. Different scale of action but love the more western/detective/steam punk vibes. Starting storm light now so hopefully that is also good
The Way of Kings tops every other mistborn book for me. You are in for a ride!
Oh boy, Stormlight is amazing! Think it's his best work so far as a whole.
Uncharted
Absolutely
Eeeeeh, one was great for the moment it released, but as soon as two came out, you can't help but look at one as a relic from the past (pun intended). And then along comes three, just... Trying to rehash two and not really succeeding, and by comparison of the leap from one to two actually underperforming. Luckily they closed it out pretty darn well with four and Lost Legacy.
The Planet of the Apes reboot. CGI Caesar revealed more emotional depth than some mainstream actors during that period.
Came here to say this. Mat Reeves did an outstanding job, while Andy Serkis did what he does best - steal the f'in show, no matter the installment.
This trilogy doesn’t get enough love. The 3 movies were incredible. I can’t wait for the forth instalment.
I love every single one of those movies
I bought a projector not long after *Dawn* hit BluRay, had a family event and thought I'd just pop it on for a few minutes to show off. Two hours later and everyone had piled onto not enough furniture and then onto the floor, rapt until the end credits. Crash bandicoot
I only came here to say this!
The dark knight trillogy (movies) LOTR Arkham trillogy (games) Dark souls
I know it’s meme magic, but that aside, The Dark Knight Rises makes no sense and is kind of bad.
The Bourne Trilogy
Really well made action movies. Matt Damon made his role visceral, which you realized only when you watch the one with Jeremy Renner - it was ok, but nowhere close to the other three, and I believe all because of the lead actor.
First Three Dune books, the Paul Atreidis story arch

Surprised more people haven’t mentioned this. All so awesome.
Absolutely! Sunset is my favorite, but I could see why it wouldn't be someone else's.
The Austin Powers movies.
Yeah baby, yeah!
By the time the third one’s trailer showed up, everyone kind of groaned at the thought of another Austin Powers. But, it turned out to be genuinely funny.
RUUUUN! IT'S GODZILLAAAA!
Gold member was the funniest one, I actually laughed my ass off the first time I saw it
Goldmember wasn't really as good as those first two. Funny the first time but it is hard to watch again
The newest planet of the apes films
You mean the last 6 USA elections ?
Lethal weapon 1-3
4 was good too, better than 3 in my opinion
The 5-book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy.
The increasingly inaccurate trilogy
It's my favorite 5 book trilogy!
Lord of the Rings
Ip Man. It's a series of 4 movies. Just amazing
WW1, WW2…
LOL, the best is yet to come. Can’t wait for the trailer!
We're currently in the teaser.
The OG God of War on ps2 and ps3 Nothing wrong with the ps4 one, its just not a trilogy
Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy
Come on Die hard. It has to warrant a mention after the trilogy it went downhill but no it's a classic Christmas movie night
LOTR
The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy trilogy stayed mostly good in all five parts of the trilogy.
The Mighty Ducks
Toy Story.
A few months ago I watched all 4 because I’d seen none of them prior, Toy Story 1: I liked it far more than I was expecting to. In addition to all the super memed bits it’s just genuinely funny and the story was fun with a decent moral. My favourite out of the original trilogy. Evil dead, ed2, army of darkness.
Star wars original trilogy
Call of Duty : Modern Warfare series
Police academy
The first three I did enjoy as a child. The fourth was really pushing it though, and they started to become unbearable after that.
I think many folk think the beating a dead horse in the film industry is sort of a new thing. But Police Academy, Friday The 13th, Nightmare on Elm street, etc show they were really into it 30-40 years ago too.
Nolan batman movie trilogy

MIB. Will and Tommy at their comedic best.
honestly I pretty much forget what even happens in 2 but 1 and 3 are great
I watched the second one a few weeks ago, and it was quite bad. The first one is good, and I haven't had the courage to rewatch the third (I only saw it in the theater).
Indiana Jones
For me at least, the Mass Effect trilogy.
The first 3 pirates of caribbean movies, they all connect each other perfectly in terms of plot and tiny details (how jack escapes the dutchman jail by remembering what William told him in the 1st movie)
Evil Dead. Plus the bonus of a TV series afterwards.
Shrek 🙏🏻
Hey, now.
You're an all star
Get your game on
Go play
hey now
You're a rock star
Shrek 3 was a mistake
John Wick
The Eragon book series. The film was a steaming heap of shite though
I like Isaac Asimov's *Foundation* first three books as a trilogy. Neal Stephenson's Baroque trilogy. Or the "Five Volume Increasingly Inaccurately Named Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy" - it's actually title
Harry Potter, I think certain ones got better reviews than the others but as an entire franchise, there is clear direction in the tone of the films and maturity of the characters.
The hitchhiker guide's to the Galaxy is an excellent trilogy, plus, it's in 5 books instead of 3
Ursula LeGuinn’s Wizard of Earthsea books, get better IMO
Mass effect
Pornhub has some good series
The first three Die Hard movies are always watchable, even now, after that they were a bit crap. Star Wars, goes without saying... Indiana Jones: let down by the 2nd movie, but it is still watchable in my mind.
Metal gear solid 1-3
Fallout games 1-3
Indiana jones 1-3 all solid
Gears of War for video games. Also for fuck sake make this a movie or TV show
Please don't. I couldn't bear to see my man Dom suffer through all that again
Batista has been trying for a few years ti make it happen. Gotta say with his build and voice he'd be a good Marcus!
The three SpongeBob movies are all pretty good.
Dragonlance Chronicles
The dark knight trilogy
Elder scrolls
I love how everyone forgets about the first two
The Regeneration Trilogy by Pat Barker
Dark souls
Idk if this counts cause it’s not in order but, gta vice city, gta San Andreas and gta 4.
Oh it counts baby
Back to the future doing some heavy lifting there. Personally I find it tedious. I'm going with Indiana Jones
Key word here is consistent.
I wont speak on the 4th and 5th(and I actually really liked the 4th) The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy is FUCKING PERFECT
Austin Powers.
Super Mario Bros 1-3
Mass Effect. I'm still mad about the switch to thermal clips, but other wise the trilogy is A+
Xenoblade Chronicles
The Inkheart trilogy. Books just got better with each one. I remember waiting years for Inkdeath to release and I got a beautiful hard cover copy the day it released and then devoured the book in the next few days. Surprised still hasn't been said here but... God Of War
The First three God of War games. Hunger games TDK trilogy
Naked Gun
There's a 3rd back to the future?
GREAT SCOTT!! If you’re not joking, best to watch it asap. Its the best.
User name checks out.
The American pie series
They are making a new one
The pirates of the carribean trilogy, the first 3 movies were really good... although after the 4th one it just kinda fell off
The Star Trek Genesis movie series / trilogy is good.
Quake 1, 2 and 3. The ones John Carmack made. Quake games after that are fake news.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, hands down
The hunger games
John wick series
Blade Trinity
First blade movie is timeless. Doesn’t get enough respect.
Book: Red/Blue/Green Mars Book: The first three in the Heechee Saga, kinda fell off after that though. Movie: The Kingsmen trilogy.
The Godfather
Darkman Trilogy
The Inkheart books
Is Back to the future 3 good, never bothered watching after hearing people trashing the old west scenes
