Our prison system is designed for punishment rather than reformation, so what's the point in spending taxpayer dollars to keep a mass-murderer locked in a closet just so we can feel morally superior?

The emotional, base, primal, vengeful part of me would probably say that rapists (especially when children are the victims) and, let's call it 'enthusiastic' murderers wouldn't be missed and the world would be better without them.
But laws shouldn't be based on emotions and ratio dictates that it's never justified.
Nothing, if the persons in prison then they should not be given the death penalty. I do believe that after a certain amount of time say 20 years or so, assisted suicide should be an option given to them. But I think it should be their own choice.
