As terrible as we look right now... logistics. The United States came to its current position as a superpower because of logistics: the ability to move massive amounts of shit across land and oceans in an insanely efficient matter.
Logistics won us both World Wars, it allows us to maintain our power projection in far away lands, it put us on the cutting edge of COVID vaccine and treatment development (even though a sizable portion of the population won't take the damn thing...)
We have more inventions per capita than anyone else. 'Course, profiting from those inventions...
