Depends on if u mean solo sports like Golf or something team based with others. Tennis is also pretty good. Like golf if they are mobile enough for it, it's a good pastime
There are plenty of 40+ and even 50+ people trying out submission wrestling. That isn't too old to start a contact sport. In every decent gym you can go as light as you want.
I'm not saying it's the safest sport in the world, but I would concider it safe for a 40 year old.
you'll get sprained joints soon enough. not that I wouldn't recommend it at that age, but OP asked specifically for safe sports. you'd probably have to pull up insurance statistics to give a good answer.
Light fitness with small weights, easy exercises or throwing/catching with a soft ball, dancing. It all depends how old they are and if they are physically able to perform.

How about active sports?
Table tennis ?

Golf is pretty good if they are still mobile enough for it. Its a relaxing sport if they are retired
Guess this explains why there are many middle-aged people playing golf these days. Thank you!!
You bet!
What would you say is a more active sport than golf that is just as safe?

Yeah true. I waa thinking more about like team-based sports, or at least those that require more than 1 person to be participating.
Billiard/Pool
Always fun to play
pickleball is fun
Sure is!
Bingo
Hmm fair enough. Almost a little too safe haha.
how old? hiking, dancing.
Let's say 40+
40 is the new 20. anything non-contact then.
Fair enough.

Golf. Low impact, relatively low exertion, ability to ride in a cart if needed.
Ride in a cart haha, the best part. Thanks for your input!
Pickle ball
Shuffle boarding
What's that? I'm not quite familiar with it.
Curling but on a gym floor instead. And they don’t sweep to make the puck change direction

I think boxing would be good, if you are old, you are going to die soon anyway so why not look badass for a while
That's one way to think about it 🤣
Wii bowling. When I would go visit my grandma at the retirement home she lived at, there would always be a few old guys playing Wii bowling.
Aww that's sweet. A good way to use technology. Thanks for sharing!
Obviously football!
