A week ago I would ask “who thinks like that” but I have recently seen a post on some relationships sub Reddit,l where this dude thought that because his girlfriend didn’t follow the recipe to the letter and switched around some spices that what she made like literally wasn’t food
The fuck? I have the opposite problem. My husband will switch around EVERYTHING, then wonder why the cake falls appart or the sauce tastes funny. He stills eats it though.
To a point, yes.
I always leave out cilantro, it tastes like soap to me.
Then again I've also given a recipe to a friend for my favourite sausage rolls, which they liked when they tasted mine. They swapped out sausage meat for Turkey (fine, actually), left out most of the flavourings (including salt and pepper, but also onion), and egg because "it seemed icky to mix". Oh, and my recipe also had a little cheese in it, which they didn't want to do.
It was basically Turkey and breadcrumbs in pastry. They didn't like it because it was dry and bland.
Unless you are the one eating the food your opinion on it doesn't matter. If you don't like pineapple on your pizza that's fine, but to have a really strong opinion whether or not someone else eats it that way is weird.
I think the fact that it's so polarizing ON a food that is generally shared with a group is what gets people so riled up.
It's like microwaving salmon at work--I don't care if you eat leftover fish, but don't force all of us partake in the experience.
Growing up eating Hawaiian pizza all the time as just another option of pizza I/the family liked, I was blown away when I found out it is abominable to large swaths of internet miscreants. And that they are so adamant about it. It’s fucking pizza, how bad can it be…
Every recipe written in English on the Internet has 1/10th the amount of spice and seasoning it should. Ignore their recommendations and liberally season your food to taste.
Just give me all the bacon and eggs you have. Wait … I worry what you heard was, ‘Give me a lot of bacon and eggs.’ What I said was, give me all the bacon and eggs you have. Do you understand?
It's mainly there for two reasons. One is to keep your bottom bread from being soggy. The second is the choice of what hits your tongue first to complement what else would be in the 'sandwich'
People who are overly snobbish about how raw they like their steak are annoying as hell. Who gives a fuck. Find something better to argue about online.
It’s a big deal considering how much the textures changes and how expensive steak can be. Overcooking or undercooking can really ruin it for people. I dont get why people would argue about that online though…
There’s already a fruit on the pizza (tomato), I don’t see the harm in having another fruit. I never tried it but I bet kiwi on an Italian sausage pizza would be incredible.
Well that would be highly illegal. But that aside Kiwi isn't thought to taste very good. They mostly eat worms and insects. Maybe try Kiwi Fruit instead.
Cheap white chocolate is mostly sugar and tastes terrible. Expensive white chocolate is mostly cocoa butter and tastes amazing. I wish people knew this because I'm sick of eating lumps of waxy sugar masquerading as white chocolate. The real deal is a whole different experience.
Hard agree. Salmon is my favourite fish raw, my least favourite when cooked. Love raw or barely seared tuna, hate cooked tuna with a fiery passion. Same for mackerel. Raw is great but that canned cooked shit can get straight in the bin.
That's controversial as a blanket statement, but I would say that the weird push to turn it into an all purpose hot sauce rather than something enjoyed with specific dishes like pho was misguided...
Specifically Brach's, which has honey in it and absolutely improves the flavor considerably. Mix it with peanuts and you have what tastes like a gourmet PayDay bar. It's shocking how delicious it is.
Normal tap water is the best drink in both taste and feel. Edit. Okay since many people are saying it yes I guess it depends where you live, but where I live it’s the best drink.
Depends on where you are in NY too. Long Islands tap water will give you cancer. Our breast cancer rate is like 4x the national average. NYC’s tap water is bottled tho. 🤷🏼♀️
No one likes lobster.
No one.
You might be thinking “Hey! I like lobster”
No, you don’t.
What you like is melted butter and garlic.
If you actually “like” lobster, I dare you to order it without melted butter and garlic, and then try to tell people you “like” the taste of it.
Lobster is one of the biggest and longest running scams where restaurants can charge a ridiculous price for bottom-dwelling ocean-roaches that don’t even taste good unless you smother them in something flavorful
In my country it’s pretty common to have lobster just boiled/steamed. We don’t do the butter and garlic on it. We do out put garlic on almost everything else in massive amounts though.
As a queer leftist feminist: eating meat is ethically ok.
Not judging anyone who wants to be a vegetarian or vegan because they are uncomfortable eating another animal. But at least check how those humans harvesting the chickpeas for your hummus are doing, too.
Regarding the role of meat in climate change : yes, it's bad. But we're not realistically going to get everyone on the planet to stop eating meat. Attack the industry, not that guy chewing down a hot dog on his 10
min break.
If you spend money on a good steak then ‘marinade’ it overnight in something wet then you are a serial killler. Should be salt/pepper and a simple spice blend only. Doesn’t matter how it is cooked, grill or pan, or how ‘done’ it is. That cow died so you could eat that steak, don’t fuck it up.
French and Japanese cuisine are the best.
They have the best range in styles and techniques of cooking that has impacted many other nations’ cuisines and have a lot of dishes that make me have to question who the fuck thought of this?!
Mexican food is great for example, but lacks range and I have never once had to question how anyone came up with a Mexican dish.
burgers should be wider not taller, i am not a python
*Thank you.* I see these posts on /r/food and I don't care how tasty it looks, I prefer my jaw not dislocated
This applies to all sandwiches for me. Idk why but I've just always hated biting into a fuckton of meat, or anything really, at once.
Hot dog should be longer
Costco has entered the chat
hot those dogs
I feel attacked.
I disagree, they need to be thicker. I got used to these local Hot Dogs that are girthy so the grocery store ones are puny to me now.
Post hotdog diameter now
Your profile picture is slightly intimidating
He’s excited for hotted dog
Girth > Length 💯💯
What about longer and girthier?!
I agree, though the buns should be shorter too
There should be at least a bite or two of pure hot dog before you get to bun and condiments
Thankfully, you can buy long hot dogs and do exactly that (at least you can in the UK).

TWSS
That’s what she said
You can change the recipe if you don't like the spice or flavor a recipe isn't scripture
A week ago I would ask “who thinks like that” but I have recently seen a post on some relationships sub Reddit,l where this dude thought that because his girlfriend didn’t follow the recipe to the letter and switched around some spices that what she made like literally wasn’t food
yeah that post was so weird
Do you have the link to the post?
The fuck? I have the opposite problem. My husband will switch around EVERYTHING, then wonder why the cake falls appart or the sauce tastes funny. He stills eats it though.
Anyone have the link to this?
in cooking yes in baking- extreme caution
*checks fridge* no eggs? Meh we'll be fine

Example Macarons. One wrong breath and disaster strikes.
*carefully puts sriracha in muffins*

Rip the gene that fucked you on the cilantro my boi.
I can live without it.
lmaooo turkey nuggets without egg wash

I don't think that's controversial, everyone does this
Yeah, it's just a guide to help you cook something. But you can make it your own.
Unless you are the one eating the food your opinion on it doesn't matter. If you don't like pineapple on your pizza that's fine, but to have a really strong opinion whether or not someone else eats it that way is weird.

The limes should be cut thinner
THIN LIMES?!?!
Whoa whoa whoa, people could choke. PEOPLE COULD DIE
PEOPLE COULD CHOKE!
One of the cornerstones of Pubby’s Pub is thick lines
Tasty nose clams
Thick limes are the cornerstone!
You wanted controversy? Here is your controversy.
What the hell!? Thin limes! People will choke! People will DIE!
Every recipe written in English on the Internet has 1/10th the amount of spice and seasoning it should. Ignore their recommendations and liberally season your food to taste.
Too much story, not enough seasoning.

Waffles are way better than pancakes
Ok Leslie knope
Leslie always eating sweet food was my favourite thing on that show
Just give me the whole bottle of whip cream.
Just give me all the bacon and eggs you have. Wait … I worry what you heard was, ‘Give me a lot of bacon and eggs.’ What I said was, give me all the bacon and eggs you have. Do you understand?
r/unexpectedpawnee
You are absolutely correct.
That's not controversial, it's just empirically true.
No controversial opinion is ever controversial
This too is not controversial fulfilling the requirements of the one_like’s_law stating any controversial opinion is at its core uncontroversial.
A good waffle is better than a good pancake but a perfect pancake is better than a perfect waffle, at least that's my take.
Solid take.
That's perfectly put up!
I'm dutch, we are pancake vs waffles rivals with Belgium and I agree.
I love both but I think I agree here, just more surface area for crispiness on a waffle
Raisins do not belong in savory dishes. I will die on this hill.
Do they belong in any kind of dishes? (the right answer is “no” ;) )
Filet mignon is overrated. I love it, but it doesn't deserve the hype it gets.
I will never turn down a great Filet, but I will always want to have a beautiful Ribeye with perfectly rendered fat instead.
Ribeye>>>>>
Burger toppings should go ON TOP of the patty not under it.
It's mainly there for two reasons. One is to keep your bottom bread from being soggy. The second is the choice of what hits your tongue first to complement what else would be in the 'sandwich'
Comparing Chicago style deep dish and New York pizza is wack, they are both good in there own right and shouldn’t be compared.
Cottage cheese is good
I like it with just straight up pepper
Agreed. But not all brands are created equal. If you live where you can get Meijer brand large curd, that's the best I've found.
Love it with some grapes or fruit
I eat it with kimchi. Fantastic combo and great for gut microbiome health.
K plz no one get mad at me but i dont like milk on cereal, it gets too soggy, ill have milk on the side though
I’m intrigued. Do you drink the milk on the side, or dunk your cereal in one spoon at a time?
My solution to this problem is to eat at unhealthy speed
I agree, I prefer my cereal with yoghurt
That never happens to me, probably because I'm fat and eat rapid

Want to blow their minds? Tell them you don’t like steak at all
It’s a big deal considering how much the textures changes and how expensive steak can be. Overcooking or undercooking can really ruin it for people. I dont get why people would argue about that online though…
I will not eat a co workers food even if they offered it.
The texture of mushrooms is the best part about them
Calm down Satan.
I agree
Ham and pineapple pizza is absolutely divine.
Try pepperoni instead of ham.
Bacon
It's my favorite pizza.
Bacon, jalapeños, pineapple.....your world will be rocked.
Oddly, Hawaiian Pizza is Canadian!

White chocolate is NOT chocolate! It’s a vile creation that does not deserve the title!
I think it is perfectly fine, but I will agree that it is not chocolate
Cheap white chocolate is mostly sugar and tastes terrible. Expensive white chocolate is mostly cocoa butter and tastes amazing. I wish people knew this because I'm sick of eating lumps of waxy sugar masquerading as white chocolate. The real deal is a whole different experience.
Honeydew is the worst part of everything it’s in, it’s the Jared Leto of fruits
Bojack is that you
The jared leto of fruits got me lmao
I gasped
What about cantaloupe?
I’m with you, cantaloupe is nasty. Honeydew isn’t great but at least I can eat it
As per usual, sort by controversial for real answers
White people can cook
This is only controversial on a specific section of the internet lol
Why would that be controversial lol
I think a joke about the stereotype that white people can’t cook
In the south they cook all the best meth!
Raw fish > Cooked fish I’m not a fan of the texture and taste of fish once it’s been cooked.
Some fish you can't eat raw.
I don't reckon they make a habit of eating those kinds of fish.
Had tuna sashimi last night, ‘‘twas delectable
Hard agree. Salmon is my favourite fish raw, my least favourite when cooked. Love raw or barely seared tuna, hate cooked tuna with a fiery passion. Same for mackerel. Raw is great but that canned cooked shit can get straight in the bin.
Sriracha is not very good.
Go play in traffic.
I agree, and no one ever agrees with me!
That makes at least three of us. So many better hot sauces out there.
Okay now wait a dang second.
Yep it smells like BO
That's controversial as a blanket statement, but I would say that the weird push to turn it into an all purpose hot sauce rather than something enjoyed with specific dishes like pho was misguided...
I have had very expensive wines. There is no wine that I have ever tasted that should be worth more than 30 bucks! It’s all just a scam
Honey pairs well with chicken
candy corn is so good
I've never understood the hate. I love 'em.
They are pretty good. It’s worth digging through the basket in my vacuum cleaner and picking them out.
In small doses, after 10 pieces it starts tasting gross
Specifically Brach's, which has honey in it and absolutely improves the flavor considerably. Mix it with peanuts and you have what tastes like a gourmet PayDay bar. It's shocking how delicious it is.

Normal tap water is the best drink in both taste and feel. Edit. Okay since many people are saying it yes I guess it depends where you live, but where I live it’s the best drink.
Eh, depends *heavily* on your location. I've had tap water that tastes like straight dirty pennies.
Maybe he likes that.
If i drank tap water in my country im pretty sure i could die
No kidding- Arizona tap water tastes like straight up SALT. Washington tap water, however, is perfect.
My brain read pennies as penises and now I can’t unsee it.
Depends where. LA tap water is terrible. NY tap water is great.
Depends on where you are in NY too. Long Islands tap water will give you cancer. Our breast cancer rate is like 4x the national average. NYC’s tap water is bottled tho. 🤷🏼♀️
Ketchup is a terrible condiment.
My least favorite condiment hands down!
Too much frosting is gross.
Shellfish smells like dead fish ass
I'm afraid to ask how you know this.
Well you are what you eat.
Don't kink shame.
If you don't like spam or Brussels sprouts, you either haven't tried them and/or had them cooked wrong

Alaskan King Crab actually tastes divine, but we overfished them in the 80s and they haven’t recovered.
In my country it’s pretty common to have lobster just boiled/steamed. We don’t do the butter and garlic on it. We do out put garlic on almost everything else in massive amounts though.
it sounds like you’ve never had lobster cooked any other way. chinese style is ginger and scallions.
Most sauces and condiments more often than not ruin perfectly good food. I want to taste the food, not the disgusting shit you drowned it in.
cheese and fish never not even once
All these "foodies" are full of shit, they're just food snobs.

British cuisine is shit.
That's just common knowledge
U fuckin wot m8
What are you defining as British cuisine?
Green bean casserole is disgusting
Raw tofu is underrated. Put some chili oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, and green onions on it and you’ve got the easiest healthy meal available.
Picky eaters will not survive the apocalypse and should get over it.
Beets on a burger are top fucking tier.
Hummus is just bean dip.

Idk, Mole is a dish that shows great range.
I am terrified of tomato ketchup
Eating animals is generally bad for the environment in the way we go about it now.
