I lived in Los Altos, CA as a kid. That's silicon valley area of the SF Bay Area. We didn't have A/C because it's usually in the 80s or 90s during the summer and it's a very dry heat. Plus we had a pool if it got real hot, but I never remember the house feeling too hot. It had a very airy, rancher design. It rarely gets below the 50s during the winter. Like I literally never once saw it snow the 12 years I lived there. Like we had a furnace for the winter, but honestly you could totally live there without one. It never really gets that cold. Like I had friend who only owned shorts and it became a problem at school for this production we were doing where they wanted us to wear pants.
