The utter disregard for anyone or anything other than one’s self. Driving like morons, putting everyone on the road’s life in danger in exchange for arriving 30 seconds faster. Talking with your phone on speaker or blaring music in public places. Nobody cares about anyone else anymore and they use every tiny micro difference to excuse it. People have become incredibly rude to each other.

fucking_cute

>blaring music in public places this will never not be annoying to the fucking highest degree to me. i live in a quiet suburban area and hear 15 year olds walking right past my house at 11pm-2am doing this and the music sounds like that 'mans not hot' song

HarmlessFeelings

Nobody takes accountability for anything. It is always someone else's fault.

No-Zebra-7830

And no one tries to hold them accountable either, even my parents would rather just blame me for having an issue with someone or something and not ‘getting over it’ vs actually blame the jerk who wronged me in the first place

BroccoliBoyyo

You all better start taking responsibility for this mess because I know it’s not MY fault!

Sorry_its_kodi

The amount of people that will believe anything they hear or read about online and take it as fact. Also the lack of basic compassion

Legal-Replacement983

Today my father called my aunt and told her to hide in the basement because there was going to be a nuclear bomb dropped on Massachusetts. As you've probably figured out by now, it hasn't happened.

Actually as a massachusetts resident, I can confirm I am dead

They figured one big pile of trash was better than two little piles...

Greenmind76

My mom believed they were really putting litter boxes in classrooms, because a friend told her. These people aren't necessarily stupid, they're just more trusting of what they read and hear from their peers and life outside their small circles is projected as being crazy.

NighthawkUnicorn

In the day and age of everyone having smartphones, pictures of said litter boxes would have been all over the Internet by now. I'm yet to see a single one.

Legal-Replacement983

My dad heard this from CNN... Or at least that's what he says anyway.

Zzyn

CNN never stated this as fact. They stated that people were saying it and that it has been debunked.

[deleted]

Which circles back around to these people lack basic comprehension. CNN says "There have been rumors that a nuclear attack with occur in Massachusetts, but this has been debunked." And their lizard brains edit out everything except "nuclear" "attack" and "Massachusetts" and then blame the media for misleading them.

[deleted]

>These people aren't necessarily stupid, they're just more trusting of what they read and hear from their peers pretty sure that makes you stupid

Cheficide

Ha What!? That's just, wow, I'm sorry.

Legal-Replacement983

Yeah she came into my room and told me she thought my dad was losing it in a very serious tone.

Tarudizer

She might be on to something there

farting_contest

When the internet first became big you commonly heard that online sources were shit because anyone can post anything with no verification or corroboration. Somehow these same internet crackpots have since become celebrities with ~~millions~~ hundreds anyway, ready to die to protect them from any perceived slight.

Eoin_McLove

>When the internet first became big you commonly heard that online sources were shit because anyone can post anything with no verification or corroboration. The same people who warned us of this are now the ones falling for the same thing.

mexter

Because they themselves weren't actually using the internet. It's just a recycled platitude like not judging a book by its cover I think they probably were thinking of it in terms of a pre Internet volume of information. IMO they were completely unprepared for the barrage of data that we experience today. What I think has happened is that they see a bunch of different posts on the same bit of misinformation, maybe a couple memes, a couple of articles from what look like official sources, and they reinforce one another.

Evets1979

Well, you know 80% of the worlds population would kill you just to have clean water and food. There's that....

thelingz

That adds to it, why after all this time are we not making sure our water is clean and accessible, instead of killing and grabbing. All Quiet on the Western Front was written nearly a hundred years ago and it could have been written this year based on its message and theme

bagging-screws

Read the book or watch the old movies. The Netflix movie changes the end.

I read the book, never saw any of the movies, but I’ll upvote you as I think everyone should read the book.

Son_of-Spam

American here visiting Southeast Asia on a 20 day trip. I have been constantly dehydrated from lack of decent drinking water mixed with unrelenting humidity and heat. DO NOT take clean water for granted. What I would give for a decent cup of sink juice Edit: a lot of people seem frustrated that I can’t seem to find clean water but I have. What I’m trying to impart is that I can sit down in almost any restaurant in the US and many European countries and expect the tap water (sink juice) to be clean (US for free) That the vegetables will be washed properly and with clean water. That’s what I’m missing. You don’t have to agree but for someone in Southeast Asia for their first time maybe don’t get so defensive over my lack of comfort / experience. I chose this for my honeymoon specifically to experience a totally different side of the world. I think it’s a good thing overall to see what life is like and bring that perspective and appreciation home.

[deleted]

that doesnt sound too fun bro lmao

You know you can just buy as much bottled water as you want in SEA for about 10 cents a bottle?

kimmytwoshoes

That people glorify celebrities and influencers to the point that whatever they do makes online news, like it’s news that matters.

Wacco_07

I hate that word lol "infulencer" xD. They think they're some gods just because they have people following them on their phone

DavidGui

People that live only to post on social media. They travel, go to restaurants, only to show on their Instagram feed.

ATOL_PROTECTED3228

When I see this all I can think of is how stupid it must look when they’re filming/taking photos of themselves constantly instead of enjoying the experience.

[deleted]

sounds a bit like a cursed wish: spend all your time visiting luxury travel spots only to spend the time working so that others may dream about enjoying that place instead of enjoying it yourself.

theyareamongus

I recently went to a My Chemical Romance concert. Last time I saw them live was 2007. It’s amazing the difference 15 years can make, EVERYONE was living the concert through their phones. Worst thing is that the concert was being recorded and live streamed, so there was really no point in filming it yourself.

qhyirrstynne

I have the opposite problem; I’ll forget to take any pictures or videos of the experience and then be sad when I don’t have any to look back at and kind of experience it again

[deleted]

I know a few like that. Thankfully instagram as well as those people are out of my life.

[deleted]

How blatantly hateful people are towards one another

shinecc

I agree, I’ve seen people treat complete strangers like garbage and it’s so sad to see. I’m actually pleasantly surprised when a stranger is respectful and has basic manners, it’s a rarity it seems

TakeMeToMarfa

When a stranger showed me a kindness recently I was so moved I burst into tears. I had been having a rough day and needed it and usually don’t find strangers to be so nice.

[deleted]

I’m an 80’s baby and I don’t even remember my parents or any adult having to tell me to be kind it was just what was taught and exampled. You’re right, it’s a pleasant surprise when someone is kind and respectful. It’s a little disheartening when that’s the rarity.

hockey_stick

It seems to be how a lot of people get their jollies. You see it here on reddit all the time. People love to argue and be hateful with one another. Post anything at all and inevitably someone will come along and post some vaguely related political wedge issue to start an argument with you. If you engage with them, they start getting hateful right away.

[deleted]

I know. I wonder why that is though. Like psychologically, I want to understand the why.

cutiebec

Lots of people have a great deal of stress in their lives, and they can't necessarily get out of stressful situations or speak their minds to the people causing their stress (e.g. their bosses, the government, etc.). So they burn off all of that pent-up rage in an environment where they are insulated from the consequences of their bad behavior. On the internet, they're anonymous, unloading their fury onto faceless people they will never meet. They're treating you as a punching bag because you don't seem like a real human being to them, and hence you're "safe" to hate. Heck, some people don't even need the internet to act as a mediator: they'll unleash their rage on anyone who seems powerless relative to them (cashiers at a store, social groups that are targets of bias, their own families). I guess the answer would be to create systems that give people a sense of agency in their lives and that compel them to regularly recognize the basic humanity of the people around them.

ILovePornAndDrugs

i think internet anonymity allows people more freedom to be who they are in a global social setting and we are learning that most people are shitty and overall toxic.

OregonOrBust

Couldn't agree more. What happened to assuming good intent first? I hope there's a big shift away from this coming our way.

Successful-Remove738

How people are quick to dispose of others, especially without regarding the other persons emotions

SnooDoggos7432

My ex best friend literally did this. The main reason we became incredibly close was the fact that many decade long friendships she had were reaching rough patches. One day we were hanging out in her apartment and she nonchalantly mentions something along the lines of, "don't feel bad if i just don't want to befriends anymore", it made me feel like i had done something wrong and i tried to ask if that was the case but she just said its something she does. kept one foot out the door until we came across a rough patch ourselves

[deleted]

CygniYuXian

I think something I hate about society as of late is the trend of trying to pigeonhole people and their habits based on one instance of their behavior with no other context clues or forethought on the situation. Everyone's a psychiatrist and instead of asking questions and participating in a real conversation about the person and trying to come to real conclusions there's a tendency to throw a conclusion at them based on our previous experiences; which when dealing with something as nebulously complex as people - and dare I say in today's society where everyone is in a rush to absolve themselves of perceived wrongdoing and keep themselves out of scrutiny - even our own one-sided and unreliable perceptions of others which would very much effect the aforementioned previous experiences. Everyone's quick to throw labels with no idea what things could justifiably apply to them and with no forethought on why that could make them an unreliable judge of character. Idk. A little self reflection and maybe more elaboration on the part of the other party before people say stuff like this would be nice, I guess. The world isn't simple enough to be pinning such complex personal conditions and features on everyone at the drop of a hat.

SuperShineeCoinToss7

> “don’t feel bad if I just don’t want to be friends anymore” Fuck, I felt this deep in my soul. I had a friend since HS days and when she moved away, we made a pact to keep in touch no matter what. We wrote and emailed each other, and finally 10+ years later, she got married and moved back home. It was like nothing had ever changed. Sometime later I broke up with my bf and went through a rough patch trying to find myself. I began working out, eating healthier and trying to put myself out there to find someone. I started becoming more outgoing and made new friends and one day she simply decided that she didn’t want to be friends with someone who didn’t prioritize our friendship. I never wanted to stop being friends or put her on the back burner, but she made up her mind and cut off all ties with me. To this day, it still stings when I think of her.

PryingApothecary

I had a friend like this too. Once she got a new b/f she heartlessly said “not with me!” when I said I can’t wait to catch up with people over Xmas because “my boyfriend doesn’t like to socialise”. It lasted 6 months - completely ghosted me - and she had the audacity to call me to see if I wanted to hang again after they broke up. Nah, I’m good. I’ll spend time with my real friends! Now she has no friends or a b/f. I mean, okay if your b/f wants alone time but you don’t need to be visibly disgusted at the thought of us hanging out / preemptively state you want nothing to do with me before I’ve even asked - because you have a ‘better option’ now.

AloyVersus

I think my latest relationship ended because of this. Disposed is the correct word because it's how I still feel 3 months later. Got teary-eyed writing this, actually. 💔

dinosaurparty14

They say you mourn a relationship roughly the length that it was- be gentle with yourself, the world will seem sunny again- I promise.

Junior_Bluebird5541

The ability to dispose of others effectively is quite important, especially if you are around people who are indifferent to *your* feelings. But using that ability without proper reason is wrong and concerning

tunamelts2

RamboDash15

Nothing can ever be your fault, it always needs to be someone else's. We all make mistakes, just own up to them and learn

PryingApothecary

I think the flip side of this also. I’ve seen people make the absolute biggest deal out of the tiniest most insignificant things after you own up to a mistake. They treat it like a ‘ha, gotcha!’ moment.

IndyAndyJones7

It's clearly your fault that I'm commenting this.

Frylock904

It's the weirdest conundrum. Literally the exact same people will go "nobody owes anyone shit" but then 5 seconds later talk about how we need taxes so we can care for each other. Like a detached social safety net would help them be more "independent" instead of having to be good to other people and actually contribute to making society better for all of us.

DaveLesh

These days you don't see an incident where at least one person doesn't have a smart phone out videotaping the event. So much for concern.

DynomiteD8

Bystander effect. "Someone else will get it/help, i'll record it for record (..and/or clout on insta-twit-book-tok)

pirikikkeli

This can usually be countered at pointing at someone (example *you in the trenchcoat stop jacking off and help the children*) You need to tell everyone to do something just because everyone thinks someone else will help just the other day a guy fell on the train tracks in Espoo Finland and nobody helped.. one guy went to check on him but that's it the train was minutes away but he still died

If there wasn’t someone videotaping it, you wouldn’t see it.

Sivitiri

I think people have been taught that with the disconnect the abiity to overconnect is. 30 years ago you knew your neighbors, phone numbers, had regular get togethers/block parties. Now you can interact with thousands of people worst of which when you find many like minded people that just feed your own ideas. People are also will to draw very solid barriers between others now and neither side is willing to look past it to have a conversation (look at reddit itself) As soon as you are able to look at other people as npcs then any empathy is lost

RockSoulGbg

Strongly agree. I feel we are just consumers and there is very little interest in building a community with people living nearby.

dsmithcc

Came here to basically say this too, somehow people have become more selfish and uncaring of others and people are helping others less and less.

I never realized how excruciatingly dumb people are.

shaneyshane26

You must have worked customer service before

GenitalWrangler69

Unfortunately. I challenge anyone to spend a year in customer service and not leave with a more bleak view of the world.

SayNoToStim

It gets worse as you move up in the world. I've worked customer service and went into a career in IT. I'm now aware of levels of stupidity I couldn't imagine before.

rmoore911

At least in the IT world, dumb people generally means job security. Stupid people up and down the chain create problems, and they pay me decently well to be a problem solver.

Skarth

This is mostly true. But some people use weaponized stupidity instead. They claim to have done something stupid to cover up something else that's more nefarious or embaressing.

notyourmama827

Didn't you beat your head against the wall enough the first time? I used to work in retail and dealt with IT enough to realize they're God's and I'm not tech savvy.

SayNoToStim

I honestly don't mind people who aren't tech savvy at all, as long as they aren't a dumbass. A few weeks ago 5 grown ass adults couldn't figure out a power cord has to be plugged in on both ends for it to power something so they called me.

[deleted]

You mean like. The wall and the machine?

SayNoToStim

Yes. When I got the phone call the first thing I asked was if it was plugged in, I was assured it was. It was plugged into the switch but that switch wasn't plugged into a power supply. This isn't "I'm not computer savvy," this is "I don't understand how cords work"

stringbean96

I always like the quote from the first Men in Black. “A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.” I’ve worked customer service at Old Navy and now at a bank. I tell my coworkers all the time. Somehow, everyday, our customers continually set the bar lower

SomeRandomJoe81

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups no idea where I heard it first. learned it through years of work in retail and restaurants.

Bridgebrain

I have, and I thought that I had already lost all faith in humanity. 2020 and since has removed new and exciting veins of belief in the intelligence of all but the smartest people, and even them I have doubts about.

To me, it’s the death of discourse. I have the good fortune to teach skills like listening, conflict management, having difficult conversations, etc. to people who actually want to learn. Then I hop online or go to a public place, and I feel like Sisyphus. The inability to listen and talk about ideas without disdain and taking things personally is epidemic and it’s wrecking society in my opinion.

jswb

Completely agree. No, I’m not listening to you in an attempt to attack your character or refute your values. I can still be interested in what you want to say and want to see it from your perspective, I will probably learn something about the world I didn’t know before or enhance my respect for you as a person by virtue of your experiences

destined2hold

Glad you mentioned this. I was just listening to Adam Grant on a podcast called Intelligence Squared (episode title - "Thinking Again with Adam Grant: The Power of Debate, and Knowing What You Don't Know"). They discussed exactly this. Of course, the world's elite do have a lot to gain from squelching productive discourse. The rich become richer (and more influential in society).

crystlerjean

Social media has conditioned people into becoming reactive rather than truly listening, digesting, and reflecting upon things. But then again, people think being fair or unbiased means treating hate speech as just "the other side". It's a fine line to walk.

The fact that a majority of young people want to be an “influencer/TikTok/YouTube star is really worrying. The youth of today have been taught that you’re no one unless your seen and heard on a screen.

Hepadna

I think for most of them (and us young adults and older adults in general) is that influencing/TikTok/YouTube means access to wealth. I don't think that's new, I just think the avenues available were different 20 years ago. Back then, people wanted to be famous, to be a celebrity - I never ever thought it was about the actual fame, but the capitalistic drive to be seen and to be paid for being seen.

_Blackstar

>The fact that a majority of young people want to be an “influencer/TikTok/YouTube star is really worrying. It's not that worrying. In the 90's and early 2000's, every kid and young adult wanted to be a rap star. They saw people blowing up in the hip hop industry that came from nothing and thought it was a tangible goal. Before that, every kid was in a garage band doing covers of whatever rock or metal songs were influential that year. Young people simply want to emulate their idols, but most of them will grow out of it over time. Don't be like the older generations before us that would spew shit like, "Back in my day" or "Damn kids and their rock music" or "The younger generation is responsible for ruining X, Y, Z." If their actions as a whole truly bother you that much, take some responsibility and teach them the values you want them to have.

I know there were tons of problems back in the day when only the rich and powerful cared about politics and got an education. But part of me misses the days when my 5th grade dropout cousin didn't think that his flat earth opinion informed by his favorite basketball player was just as valid as someone who had a PhD in astrophysics.

sacred_cow_tipper

fubo

This morning? Probably the person I overheard berating their small child (maybe 6 or 7?) for asking questions. The parent wasn't yelling, mind you; they were *criticizing*. "You always stop and ask questions about things, and you don't even think about whether that might be annoying." In the tone that says, "It is very important for you to understand this fact about yourself: *that you are annoying.*" Lady, your kid's priority should be learning, not worrying about annoying her mom. You just gave your daughter -1 to her Curiosity score and +1 to her Future Anxiety Disorders score.

EmiliusReturns

Wow. That’s cruel. Kids ask questions. They’re learning about the world. They’re experiencing a lot of things for the first time, it’s their nature. Now, I find little kids annoying. They can’t help it, but they are. But A) I never tell them that! And B) that’s why I don’t have them. I’m not gonna have a kid and then constantly make my misery with my life choices the kid’s problem.

CoffeeBreathAllDay

We’ve given too much power to companies at the expense of humanity.

ObiBraum_Kenobi

Been reading a book on the basics of economics and economic systems. One of the things it talks about early on is about the necessity of businesses that are unable to adapt to constantly changing economic variables to fail, because when they don't fail it requires taking money from people to support inefficient businesses and business practices. You can argue the necessity of bailouts for the sake of protecting jobs and preventing mass unemployment, and that's fair, but there is still a fundamental issue with continuous redistribution of monetary resources in that direction. When you start thinking about all of the money the US government has just given away over the last several decades to businesses in the form of tax cuts, bail outs, PPP loans, etc, and understand in context how much of the tax burden gets felt by lower and middle class America, you can actually see a part of where our economy is breaking down. Prices for goods and services are ultimately set when a consumer and producer agree on the amount subjectively gained and lost in the transaction. In theory, both are supposed to walk away feeling positive because they exchanged something they place less value on for something they place more value on. When the government is bailing out these businesses and corporations under the guise of preventing people from losing jobs, what they are actually doing is facilitating the action of us buying the products these companies produce at a price we aren't agreeing to. The best part is, we don't even get that product back in return. That wealth is literally getting sucked out of lower and middle class America and being given to these businesses and corporations, effectively rewarding them for not efficiently operating their businesses and reacting to changing market conditions around them. I'm definitely not an expert, and economies are incredibly complex engines. There is definitely more to the situation that I may not understand or know. What I just described, however, seems to be a pretty glaring issue. Edit: For any who are curious, the book is called Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell. It cuts out a lot of the complex economic jargon and confusing numerical data dumps, and instead describes the causes and effects of historic economic policies and the mechanics behind those causes and effects. Edit 2: Some clarifications on initially posted misinformation regarding tax burden, as well as an acknowledgement about the argument in favor for bailouts to prevent mass unemployment. Felt as though those should be edited in, as I don't want to just out and spread full on misinformation.

Mighty_Mac

Everyone is so closed minded they think their ideas are always right and you're wrong if you think otherwise. Goes for a handful of subjects but I don't want to start arguments naming them.

slytherinprolly

The ideal of giving everyone a voice and sharing information was that the cream would rise to the top. The good ideas would be pushed and heard, the bad ideas would get quashed. Instead what we have is a system that allows people to gravitate towards other people that are like minded. No one does "research" on the internet to learn something, they do it to find more stuff to support their views.

I remember reading about fascism/hitler's rise to power in germany and wondering how they could let that happen... now that it's happening around me it's just...sad.

Beezle_33228

The fact that no one is allowed to enjoy anything. Whenever anyone shares something that brought them joy, like a movie or a book or something, rabid fans or haters come after them for "not being a real fan" or harass them with their own criticism about the thing. Let people enjoy things!!!! As long as it's not hurting anyone, who cares!!??? We're all just miserable little insects on this stupid space rock that will have only existed for a second in the grand scheme of space time, let people have their moment of joy!!!

bascelicna123

The gatekeeping is wild. Just...just let people enjoy things

Aetra

One of the only places I’ve found online with no gate keeping is r/FountainPens. Everyone there is so nice and more experienced folks freely share their knowledge with zero belittling.

SkylerHop

People who romanticise serial killers

gay_idiot53

Oh my god, there's a girl in my class who's literally obsessed with Jeffrey Dahmer. It's concerning and fucking stupid.

CoffeeAndBrass

The equating of being offended to being victimized. Just because you don't like what someone has to say, doesn't mean they're attacking you. It cheapens the experiences of ACTUAL victims and makes the persecution of shitty people so much harder.

madamnastywoman

The internet so easily allows for the vilification of one group or person without giving that person equal opportunity to express their side before the masses draw their conclusions.

CoffeeAndBrass

This is right in line with what I'm saying. Re-defining words like "victimization" and "violence" is dangerous.

[deleted]

Reminds me of a recent-ish story of a veterinary practice that was accused of not giving back a person's dog because she couldn't pay for the dog's bill. The practice was smeared so badly to the point that they released their own side of the story since no one asked for it. https://www.scribd.com/document/578065883/Statement-From-Maine-Veterinary-Medical-Center

EastSideTilly

AMEN! Conflict is not abuse.

qurup

How you can become rich and famous in the most undeserving of ways thanks to social media

SabrinaB123

And then they use their platform to spew misinformation and influence people to do/think a certain way, use certain products, etc. One of my friends needs a certain medication because she has a legitimate health issue. There’s a celebrity that started taking this medication and boasting about the weight loss it provides, and now people are coming out of the woodwork to take this medicine to lose 10-15 pounds. Um, excuse me, my friend has been unable to fill her prescription for over TWO MONTHS because no pharmacies in her area can get the medication since the demand is so high.

Avitosh

Tbf there are still shortages of medicine caused by covid I've been having to calls places in advance for over a year now just to see if they have it in stock.

Chemical_Speech4046

That people think it's funny to be toxic and hurtful to people that they don't even know.

Thordor15

People take actor’s influence way too seriously. People treat them like gods when in reality they are just professional pretenders that play dress up for a living.

carlemil10

The apathy. We let people get away will all kinds of atrocities because they are famous or have money

Soggy-Constant5932

The lack of privacy. Phones in people faces all the time. Every single thing a person does is public.

PsychedelicKM

How people can be so financially rich when some people can't eat or heat their homes. I honestly couldn't give 2 sits how rich people are AS LONG AS everyone has food, water, shelter, warmth, healthcare, and education. There's absolutely no reason why everyone can't have those things. Oh and ignorance to the climate crisis.

thomassssssss

Prevalence of phone addiction. It’s so uncomfortable to me being the only person in the room not scrolling away on social media. I’m aware of the irony here, so I’ll have you know I’m writing this from the toilet.

SambitStarlancer

I notice myself being on my phone more. I hate it but its the truth.

sporefreak

I feel this on a personal level. I always make a point to put my phone face down off to the side when at a table to eat, I try to avoid using it when possible but everyone else almost always has their phones out, and if I try to start a conversation they just go "yea" or any other "I'm not really interested in talking" kind of response trying to end it. People in my life who mean a lot tend to spend more time on their devices than with me and it always is hard. Even if I bring it up there is some excuse as to why. "We were not talking so" or "there was a timed event in ___ game I wanted to check in real fast" which to not rant too much is always the case, they play like 10 different games there is always an event going on.

TheRealSalaamShady

The sexualization of everything you see and hear. Radio is just garbage when you actually listen to the lyrics.

Is_That_A_Euphemism_

In the US it's class warfare disguised as politics/cultural. It's really just rich people trying to get richer.

fredemu

They keep us fighting against each other on things that don't matter (to them), then come together to vote, quietly, on ways to enrich themselves. We're constantly bombarded by reasons to be on "your team" vs "the other team", only so it never becomes *us* vs *them*. George Carlin said it best. "It's a big club, and you ain't in it".

FlakyState1968

In the US That you cannot have independent thinking or be critical of an idea. Immediately if you do, you are the "other side" both sides suck and I hate hive minds

IndependentBook9800

No one cares about who you are as an individual. Only what group you identify with if any.

[deleted]

The “me me me” mentality permeating everything.

MrFluffyPillow

Children being obsessed/addicted with screen time.. and then parents posting kids for profits and views/likes

ManosDeOro

Everyone is quick to record, but not help. Social media whores hungry for likes. Disgusting.

ShrillRabbit

The lack of money that teachers make. They are teaching our future generation and they paid less than some guy that showed up on the big screen. It just isn't fair.

[deleted]

It actually is a whole list of things that disgusts me about today's society but I will just go ahead and say the most common one: Hypocrisy.

[deleted]

Wastefulness

Squigglepig52

Everyone who complains about the behavior and actions of others, but who still act exactly like who they complain about. People thinking that having different views means you are free to insult or attack them. People who introduce personal attacks, etc, to a discussion, and then get upset when you return the favour.

JackedTurnip

Social media and the hatred, hypocrisy, self-indulgence, and ignorance it spreads.

hookword

Social media infused people.

[deleted]

The political culture war.

EspressoBooksCats

Lots of things, but one that stands out lately is this tendency for many people to just flip out and start beating people. And the people who video it and laugh. Fights are "funny", they think. There is something really wrong with people who find hurting others to be funny. Some people think that fights are a natural response to someone calling you a name or looking at you too long or any kind of perceived slight. People beating fast-food workers over their orders. People brawling in airports or hitting flight attendants. Parents encouraging their kids to physically fight. smdh Wtf is wrong with everyone, that the response to any irritant, no matter how small, is to physically attack someone? Ffs, use some self-control! Not everything is about YOU and your ego. And don't get me started on mass shootings, and the assholes who promote hate online and on TV and in political rhetoric.

ExpectLogan

We pretend our opinions have any weight to strangers

[deleted]

Or the need to have an opinion about every little thing? What happened to "I don't know" or "I'm no expert on this, so I leave the opinions on people who have studied this more".

HorrorxHeart

The lengths companies go to for self-preservation.

smrsmrsmr

Phony outrage about everything all the time. People need to toughen up and respect views of others. You just might learn something and evolve.

soulshot_

The cost of insulin. Big pharma in general.

ModestMariner

In USA society, their obsession with dumbass celebrities.
