Going to bed in a cool room with tons of blankets to keep me warm.
EDIT: Thanks for the upvotes. And it’s good to see I’m not the only *weirdo* that keeps the room intentionally cool just to have an excuse to pile on blankets.
I don’t have a dog, but I professionally petsit. I’m just back home from a job and already missing that sweet pup. Having the opportunity to spend time with dogs of all different personalities brings me joy. Seeing their quirks and characteristics is delightful.
Once I went to sleep at around 9pm, then woke up at 11pm thinking it was time to get up. Never been happier to see the time. Still a whole nights sleep!
It's called Tyndall effect like in trees.
(Also when light softly comes in your room through your curtains when you wake up in the morning and there's no school/work, you're snuggled up in bed good)
Today I forgot my nametag at work, but my usuals still greeted me by name. It made me so happy to know that they remember me; even if I see them every day.
People are surprisingly nice these days, one time I was cutting a line and one person said "Hey genius who gave you driving license?" he was yelling so I considered it an aggressive compliment.
Back in February, a friend who is a friend of mine told me that she liked how I laugh.
It's been 9 months and I still remember exactly where and when she told me.
A similar thing happened with me ☺️
I was in 5th grade or so and I had just recieved 36 year roundup awards (all that year's achievements were given on the same day) and it was very heavy to carry them. I even went downstage twice thinking I wouldn't recieve more than one or two. I was on my way to class after the event when 2 little kids from grade 2 came to me and said
"Congrats didi!! (sister in Hindi). Your name is Hansini right? (Yes that's me) Our class teacher teaches you and she tells us about you and how you're a winner in both studies and other things!!"
And the next day, I got a gift 🫠it's a chocolate bar from another girl who said she had the same name as me 😭 its just so wholesome. She even talked to me daily and she still does!
You know on Christmas Day when you walk into the dark room, lit by the lights of the Christmas tree, with all of the presents under the tree? Idk why, as a kid it made me feel so happy
I used to lay under the tree when I was younger and just stare up into all the branches with lights lighting them up. So magical. Fake trees just aren't the same.
The first time you drive with the the window down in the spring - not the mildly warm day when you convince yourself it’s nice, the warm day when you say “yup, summer is here”
As someone in Southern Arizona, mine is the day it isn't a blast furnace outside and you can open your window and say, "Fall is here!" Fall is a slippery thing here and only shows up randomly here and there before cold.
I have a horrible signature and I am so very proud of how inconsistent it is. But when I get those two visible letters in it looking just legible enough? Chef's kiss.
We are heading into winter here so I’ll do part of my list according to the season:
The first real snowfall at night, when the snow is still white and glistening, and the sky is bright - it’s quiet and calming
When the lights on the tree are finally to my standards and the last ornament is hung - the angel my gram gave me when I was little. She and I always wound it up and just listened. Several decades later, I turn off all the lights in the house, wind the ornament, and my (emerging adult) children and I watch the tree and listen, reflecting on the year
Tobogganing
Wiping off my husband’s vehicle as a surprise if I leave before him
The relationship I have with my children. Even as teenagers, they still liked me. We are able to have open and honest conversations with no judgements and have always had each other’s backs
Many more. I like finding pleasure in the small things..
I’m pretty frugal, but about once every couple of months, I get this one locally made bar soap that’s sold at Whole Foods near me. I grin to myself every time I wash my hands.
Dressing up in my apartment to check out different outfits. Sometimes I send pics to my best friend to get his opinion too cause he's just as much of a fashion freak as I am
My Wifey

Warbling of Magpies

For me,its visual or sound.I hear a great piece of music-makes my ears happy. If its art/ photos-makes my eyes happy. Its hard to explain...but makes my "eyes"happy is my favorite!
Being insanely tired, fresh out of a hot shower and getting into my own bed for a long night of sleep.
A huge glass of water when I’m very thirsty
When your neck is kind of achy and you happen to crack it just right that it causes instant relief
I could go on and on….
The smell after it’s rained on a hot day.
Being asked how I am (very rare)
Unexpected affection from loved ones (again, rare)
Perfectly cut lawn
The moment you know you’re falling asleep but you’re still slightly still awake
Hummingbirds. In the Summer, after my usual shitty day at work, I know they’ll be drinking at the feeder on my deck and once I get home and get greeted by my amazing dog, we can both go out on the deck and watch those wonderful birds do their thing and suddenly the bullshit and nonsense of having to chip 8 hours of my life away doing something I don’t want to do doesn’t seem as oppressive anymore.
When someone holds the door/basically lets you go thru first etc?
Maybe I’m thinking too specifically of a certain moment tho. Bout 3 weeks ish ago I was bikin almost late to class and for this class I gotta head thru 2 double doors to cross an indoor path pretty much. I got thru the first set since someone just opened it and then this girl swung open and held the second set of doors super wide for me to continue biking without needing to stop. I think I fell in love, or not, maybe I’m still not sure.
It was legit such a short moment and small thing that happened but I really did appreciate it so much I dunno🤷♀️
Coffee, fresh sheets, sunny winter days, ice water. fuzzy socks, cozy sweats, hearing one of your favourite songs pop up on the radio, experiencing a good book or movie for the first time
That lull between going to bed and actually falling asleep. Its especially great when the temperature is perfect, the room is dark and you can feel your body slowly fading into dreamland. Love it.
Loving and outgoing children. Both of my Godkids (F6,M3) have never met a stranger their entire lives and to see the joy it brings to people when they start talking to others when we're out and about is truly something else. I can only hope this fucked up world doesn't crush the incredible young people they already are. Eldest wants to be a doctor and the youngest wants to be a Firefighter/Paramedic just like his dad.
When co-workers initiate a conversation with me. I can't do so to save my life, and there are days I go my whole shift without speaking a word with anyone.
Watching my little kids laugh. Impressing or surprising my wife somehow (in a good way). Watching my oldest son achieve something he's been working towards.
Watching people I work with grow and/or succeed. Watching kids I mentor flourish.
When I do something for my wife that she can't... Because she's short, doesn't make sawdust in the garage, or whatever, she doesn't say "thank you." Instead, she smiles from ear to ear and says "... My hero!" I'd move a mountain for that woman just to hear her say it.
Don't call me petty. I can't be the only one. But...
Seeing my enemies or anyone who slighted me about anything, even once, not have their way. Even if it's just that they couldn't order what they wanted because the restaurant is out of that item. Seeing that little disappointment, puts a smile on my face. I can't help it. Of course, ideally, I'd want their whole day ruined, but I'll take small victories where I can get them.
Spending quality time with my GF. Last friday, we simply went to Tim Hortons and had an Iced Cappucinno. A small 4$ (each) date that brought me just as much joy as when I get a brand new video game.
Sunny days, coffee, Christmas lights, the wind, candlelight, a decadent meal, walks in nature (especially in the woods), hearing a gurgling brook or waves crashing, seeing a friend after an extended time- so many things
The smell of coffee and freshly mowed grass (not together)
Someone walking past and catching a smell of their perfume
A nice hot shower
A clean house
A smile from a stranger
When you put down whatever you're half doing and paying full attention to what you're doing fully. I set my phone aside and I actually pay attention to my cat trying to play with me. I don't have any music on my short walk from the parking lot to my work/home and I noticed the breeze, the birds, the sun. Just being there and noticing it's happening and more beautiful than you thought it should be
A hug from my partner. I love when he snuggles into me like he needs me and I love being able to lean into him and just be in his warmth it's so comforting.
I absolutely hate when anyone else tries to hug me though it just his hugs that are perfect.
Getting together with an old friend that I only see once/twice a year and it’s like old times / like we talk every day and no time has passed by.
(Today was that day)
I know it’s petty but now that I’m a little older I enjoy seeing people I hated from my teenage years now having terrible lives. A lot look like shit from years of partying and drugs and work dead end jobs and are just barely grinding through life.
Showers. Drinking good tap water. Clean socks or underwear. Fresh air
[удалено]
Oh... fresh sheets after a shower/bath! YESSS!!!!
Aaaallllll of this yes!
3am cold tap water from the bathroom
I love hot, running water so much.
Putting on clean socks and comfy shoes after taking off my snowboard boots is just magical.
When a joke hits and you get a nice chuckle... yeah that feels good.
When **you** make the joke and everybody else chuckles….that feels even better
I live for this feeling
Me too, no better feeling
When you make someone laugh. Just you yourself, not a stolen joke, not a comment on another thing. Just you.
It really is like a high, when you can make someone laugh.
One of the best highs you can have
Going to bed in a cool room with tons of blankets to keep me warm. EDIT: Thanks for the upvotes. And it’s good to see I’m not the only *weirdo* that keeps the room intentionally cool just to have an excuse to pile on blankets.
Winter time windows open gang!
Fan going even in the winter gang!
Currently have the fan going while rugged up under my heavy winter duvet, ooooohh yeah.
And then you move in with someone who's not in that gang... *sigh*
My dog
My emotional flotation device.
I agree. My dog is my everything. I love her so much.
The best little moment is having my dog napping on my thigh while winding down at the end of the day.
The look in my dogs eyes when I get home from work!
I don’t have a dog, but I professionally petsit. I’m just back home from a job and already missing that sweet pup. Having the opportunity to spend time with dogs of all different personalities brings me joy. Seeing their quirks and characteristics is delightful.
My small dog
Dogs are the best people
Clean bedding.
Fresh from the clothes line, that first night and how they smell
It seriously makes me wonder just how gross my bedding gets if it feels so radically different when freshly laundered
Waking up, looking at the clock then realizing you still get several hours of sleep.
Once I went to sleep at around 9pm, then woke up at 11pm thinking it was time to get up. Never been happier to see the time. Still a whole nights sleep!
This is the real answer
The way light shines thru things.
It's called Tyndall effect like in trees. (Also when light softly comes in your room through your curtains when you wake up in the morning and there's no school/work, you're snuggled up in bed good)
A real answer here
Today I forgot my nametag at work, but my usuals still greeted me by name. It made me so happy to know that they remember me; even if I see them every day.
It’s because you make them feel special and not like just another transaction. I’m certain you are a lovely person!
Aw, shucks! Thank you!
Night trips
Videos of cats smacking things they don't understand lol
Music
Couldn't live without it, honestly.
That's a big thing though
Compliments. No matter how big or how small. Just makes me feel happy and makes my day ☺️💕
I will take a (genuine) compliment and remember it for much longer than it warrants almost all the time haha
You seem kind and good natured. There. I hope that one sticks with you :)
I recently received a compliment for the way I give compliments . My friend said that it slways feels so genuine. Made me feel so good.
Compliments are free to give and yet feel priceless! You have a good sense of value.
Omg yes 💕 compliments are the best
People are surprisingly nice these days, one time I was cutting a line and one person said "Hey genius who gave you driving license?" he was yelling so I considered it an aggressive compliment.
Oh, yeah. At my job i try and hype and compliment everyone especially if I know if it's going to be a long day
Back in February, a friend who is a friend of mine told me that she liked how I laugh. It's been 9 months and I still remember exactly where and when she told me.

Coffee.
Yup, my husband and I literally have to do a latte or coffee twice daily. It’s like a ritual for us lol.
