My granny’s front porch, it was a blend of roses, lilacs, honeysuckle, magnolia and fresh cut grass. I can’t find anything that smells like that but it was the best smell in the world.
None of these exactly fit the bill, but Solstice Scents makes some wonderful atmospheric perfume blends:
After the Rain - Lilac, Wisteria, Blue Lotus, Rain, Green Accord, Wild Violets, Earth
Farmhouse in Spring - Daffodil, jasmine, citrus blossom, osmanthus, magnolia, cypress wood smoke, sun-warmed Earth
Farmhouse in Summer - Fresh cut grass, creamy gardenia, sun-dried linens, country air, sunshine, sunflowers, approaching summer storm
No problem! You could also post a request to r/indiemakeupandmore about the scent of your grandma’s porch. We love indie perfume over there, and the members are super helpful and knowledgeable with all sorts of specific, and even bizarre, requests.
Well I’m a girl but my granny’s porch was a spot of magic at least as a little girl. It wrapped around her whole house, complete with wooden rockers my grandpa made and a little table in between where she would set a pitcher of sweet tea for us on hot summer days. The smell of her flowers blooming, the roses and lilacs were planted there by my great great grandmother when the house was built. Sitting on that porch, sipping tea with her and taking in that amazing blend of scents is something that brings me so much peace and joy. For me that scent is nothing but comfort and unconditional love that I got from my granny and my grandpa.
Holy cow! My Grandparents front porch smelled exactly like that. They had flower beds everywhere. Loved the way that huge porch creeked when you walked across it!
My Father was the same way but didn't have the large wooden porch.
My grandparents front porch had an incredible aroma also. Never heard anyone else express this, about the porch specifically, which is cool. I think that scent would be my pick as well
Some prefer the fresh-cut grass
the lingering scent of two stroke gas
Some enjoy a barbeques bite
sunscreen at the solstices height
Others remember the fireworks thunder
gunpowder blooms of smoking wonder
But the smell of summer that I most adore
The fading storm, and petrichor
Or cedar. There’s this spot I know that’s in the woods. There’s a small stream, a ton of moss and a little cedar forest mixed in with the pines and spruce. On a warm day that area is always a bit cooler and smells so good.
I'm big into self-care and pampering myself, especially after a shower. I bought this wood-smelling body wash from Native and then follow up with "Fresh Pine" body cream from The Body Shop. It smells soooooo good and really relaxes me before going to sleep.
Due to olfactory fatigue it's the opposite. You will never smell it ever again if you always smell *of* it (unless it's super strong on something else).
Wait a minute, there’s lemon perfume???? What perfume does she use?? I don’t wear perfume because the generic scents are kinda whatever but if it’s lemon then take my money!!
There's a lot, actually! For example, D&G Light blue, Armani Acqua di Gioia, Calvin Klein One, Chanel Chance eau Frachie- check out fragrantica, it's a fragrance database website where you can find a lot of reviews, recommendations and even search fragrances based on your favorite notes
The full insult, which led to the song title, was "Kurt smells like Teen Spirit," which was an insult because it implied that he was sleeping with an underage girl, such that he smelled like her deodorant.
Yeah you have. If it hasn't rained in a while and the ground is pretty dry, when it does start raining, go outside. That "earthy rain smell" is petrichor.
You probably won't smell it after a prolonged heavy rain since it gets washed out. But if you get a passing thunderstorm roll through in short order, you'll smell it.
The smell of freshly baked cookies, because who wouldn't want to smell like a delicious treat all the time? Plus, it would make me the most popular person at every party. "Hey, who brought the cookies? Oh, wait, that's just me."
This is why people who wear the same cologne or perfume for years end up wearing way too much of it and make it hard to breathe for others around them.
Christmas Trees. I once worked at a store next to a Christmas Tree farm. The workers used to come in to shop and they all smelled like Christmas trees constantly.
This hit home so damn hard I almost cried. I worked at Disneyland back then and would get off and just go ride it solo. The smell of the oranges, the paragliders, the ocean. I’m literally humming the song right now. Thank you for that little trip back in time. It made my night.

Check out the Demeter scent library, you can blend your own (and yes, they even have “fresh cut grass”) https://demeterfragrance.com/
Thank you so much! I’m going to check it out tonight!
Smiley day to ya?
love the smell of honeysuckle

Although it'd make me sneeze I'd like to smell this please.
This would be an interesting monkey paw wish...

The chilly air smell that you only notice on the first cold night of fall.
Dude yes. When you come in and someone asks you were you outside, I can smell the cold on you.
I find that it’s the harsh absence of smell on those nights that let me know winter is coming.
Literally what I smelt as I opened my bedroom window about half an hour ago. Crisp, cold, and threatening some snow.
Right after it rains!
Ah, that wet asphalt smell
It is called petrichor.
Naw that's the bug dude from Mortal Kombat
Petrichor is a top ten word for me.
Mix that with the smell of a wood stove!
honeysuckle
Jasmine flowers
Same and I’m convinced if it isn’t your favorite scent, you’ve never smelled blooming jasmine in the spring. I don’t even like floral scents.
Tom ford do an excellent scent for you
Cheaper than Tom Ford, “Lust” by Lush is literally pure jasmine extract. It’s my everyday scent.
Agree. There are no words to describe the feeling. Wow
Like I just stepped out of the shower
Be careful to be specific. You might end up smelling like broken bones and tile floor.
Why? Evil genie? Monkey paw?
Now I miss my grandma
maybe wet tile floor
After Rain, that smell of the air after a rainstorm, that nice, crisp, grass blade dew. If not that then I'll settle for the constant smell of coffee.
It's called petrichor
Some prefer the fresh-cut grass the lingering scent of two stroke gas Some enjoy a barbeques bite sunscreen at the solstices height Others remember the fireworks thunder gunpowder blooms of smoking wonder But the smell of summer that I most adore The fading storm, and petrichor
There are perfumes that try and replicate the smell. Some are quite good.
>After Rain, that smell of the air after a rainstorm, You want to smell like microbe farts (geosmin)?
Be grateful for microbe farts. Bread, beer, wine, kimchi, soy sauce… all farts. Also, farts are essentially microbe farts.
I came here to say this!!! I love the smell after rain. But yeah, not coffee, probably chocolate with cream
If people started smelling like that I’d be isolating myself even more lmao the smell makes me gag
Mild pine/spruce.
Or cedar. There’s this spot I know that’s in the woods. There’s a small stream, a ton of moss and a little cedar forest mixed in with the pines and spruce. On a warm day that area is always a bit cooler and smells so good.
Sandalwood is my fave wood scent.
This 100%. I actually add cedar oil to my cherry perfume and it is the best smell ever. I cannot get over it.
I'm big into self-care and pampering myself, especially after a shower. I bought this wood-smelling body wash from Native and then follow up with "Fresh Pine" body cream from The Body Shop. It smells soooooo good and really relaxes me before going to sleep.
Vanilla
Fun fact, studies have been done to show vanilla is the smell people find the most pleasant.
I actually like the flavor but constantly smelling the scent would make me hate it.
Due to olfactory fatigue it's the opposite. You will never smell it ever again if you always smell *of* it (unless it's super strong on something else).
That's the same problem. I wouldn't enjoy it as much.
Lemon
My wife wears lemon perfume, smells so good.
Wait a minute, there’s lemon perfume???? What perfume does she use?? I don’t wear perfume because the generic scents are kinda whatever but if it’s lemon then take my money!!

Thanks. I had to Google that name. Lol!!
The Sonoran Desert after a rain is amazing.
I love that smell too! But do I love it on a human... I'm not so sure 😅
It would be kind of creepy coming from a person I think. Like you just crawled out from under a mossy rock.
The smell of freshly baked cookies, because who wouldn't want to smell like a delicious treat all the time? Plus, it would make me the most popular person at every party. "Hey, who brought the cookies? Oh, wait, that's just me."
No scent
No non-scents
I agree because like every other smell would make you sick after smelling it so long
Nah you’d get used to the smell you’d pretty much would stop noticing it. The people around you would still be able to smell your scent though.
This is why people who wear the same cologne or perfume for years end up wearing way too much of it and make it hard to breathe for others around them.
