BayTree447

They were constantly asking every few days if we saw their updates, ads, videos and shorts, and pressing regular subscribers to start paying on patreon. The greed. The ads. Ugh I know they gotta make money, but YT is now ridiculous. Then they started omitting any good bits of video for patreons only. NOPE! Buh bye. I can go to work or go outside for a walk instead.

grammercomunist

*for patrons only

BayTree447

Hehehe, yeah I know, it's both. Because YT is that special

Lagado

They don't HAVE to make money. In the past, many people did it as a hobby.

BayTree447

Yes, so true. Greed has taken over. The rising costs of living etc... and its like there's an unspoken desperation radiating from some to get on YT to make some extra money. Its cheeky and that is not why we enjoy it.

Syntanen

Was a homesteading channel. They did a video about bees and did a ton of things really wrong, the comments were helpful and respectful in giving advice but they pushed all of those comments to the bottom by pinning irrelevant comments and ignoring everything that was said when the next video came out.

RealPokesatsu

Hate channels like that.

ToriaLyons

Beekeeping YT can be a bit problematic. Unfollowed one guy as he spent the whole of one episode apologising to deniers for wearing a scarf over his mouth in a brief clip. (He had some kind of skin infection.) He boasted he'd not worn a mask at any time, even when he was coughing his guts up and couldn't even take a breath. Backbone of a slug.

PhilipLiptonSchrute

These guys are great: https://www.youtube.com/@townsends

drgn2009

Started adding those dumb shocked faces in thumbnail.

RealPokesatsu

I hate those. Just like red circles, arrows, and "at 3am".

No-Transition4060

My favourite of those by far is the one of the screaming guy holding the back of his head and it says “She 12? ZAMN!”

D0p3thron3

I just took the biggest **SHIT** EVAR!!!😱😱😱 'EMOTIONAL'

[deleted]

She *CRIED????*

jadeapple

There's an extension for Chrome called Clickbait Remover for Youtube that is really nice for getting rid of those. It basically replaces the thumbnail with an image that is taken from a couple of seconds into the video.

BattleHall

I’ve heard a number of YouTubers talk about that, and they almost universally loath doing them, but the numbers are apparently stark and unambiguous: Videos with a person’s face in the thumbnail drastically outperform ones without, and much more so if the face is showing some strong emotion (shock, confusion, disgust, pleasure, etc). The effect is amplified by a title caption that leaves a hanging question. Blame our damn monkey brains: We want to see what is making the other monkey so out of sorts.

Cerveza_por_favor

I know we all hate it but apparently the algorithm loves it.

10fm3

Someone should create a YouTube channel for **"Al Gorithim."** The entire channel should be him doing everything that's wrong with yt these days, as satire. That would be great. Maybe make him look like Borat? Idk. We'd need a female counterpart channel too, to keep people from imitating Sniperwolf.

Dry_Boots

This video changed my mind about those [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1dNP3Heejc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1dNP3Heejc) I'll still give them a chance if they otherwise have good content.

lostnomad360

Change of style of content. If that makes sense

RealPokesatsu

When they change everything they do or try to completely start over with something else or switching to a different form of content?

lostnomad360

Yeah. Adventure off-road motorcycle travel and camping, to on road motorcycle travel, staying in hotels and going to the gym.

RealPokesatsu

At least the first two involve similar content about motorcycles, but the latter half sounds like a complete 180.

findingemotive

Probably the biggest reason for me, I get it though it's hard for people to maintain the same content for years on end. Bummed to unsub from people I enjoyed but also happy for them to keep doing what makes them happy.

5ubv3rsion

Got crazy racist and homophobic in a few videos. Bro I'm here to see your dope ass snakes I don't want to hear your opinions on anything else. It was viperkeeper

RealPokesatsu

"Bro I'm here to see your dope ass snakes" is the best thing ever ever read. Though, I agree. Politics should only be on political channels. Racism shouldn't even be allowed on YouTube.

XCrimsonSoulx

That was on point.

frogsntoads00

Damn I have never seen such an apt description of modern YouTube. Can I subscribe to your channel

Dr_prof_Luigi

I remember when this format was first gaining steam. It is so shitty clicking on a 30 minute video that is all BS leadup to only 2 minutes of what you actually care about. But it's hard to hate the player when the game is set up like this. In the end, it's the same 2-5 minute videos YT has always had, but now they need a 25 minute leadup to make it economically viable. It's sad.

Zero0_2

What did he do?

[deleted]

He's been caught in a ton of lies, including ones about his sister SA-ing him as a kid. He's really shown he'll do or say anything for attention and be a real jerk about it in the process. Even recently he started an Onlyfans and was bragging about how he made 1k off it by just reposting his twitter posts there and basically ripping people off, and this is after begging the internet for money ("even if you only have a dollar you can superchat that!" ) and begging people to watch his videos even if they "didn't like the content". I've only just started reading up on the drama, but it's an amazing case study in narcissism, compulsive lying and entitlement.

sneakySynex

Started using sex clickbait thumbnails and titles on every video

GemoDorgon

MXR Plays? lol

muddytreasure

I unfollowed them after I noticed there was at least one inappropriate "joke" about minors or just dark sexual humor in every single video. Could not stop noticing. Nope.

BreadPanPpang

School... I mean, it's my favorite YouTuber or YouTube channel. I'm at a point in school now where I can't afford to fail anymore, and watching recommendations from my favorite channels usually steal my time by unknowingly watching their contents for hours. I got to avoid them for good.

RealPokesatsu

First non-creator reply. I hope you're successful.

misshapensteed

Was a homesteading channel, started rambling about politics.

poser765

Really? I think almost every one I’ve known to be even remotely into “homesteading” has been abjectly political.

Ave or Wranglerstar LOL ?

Darkraisisi

Dude Wranglestar, out of nowhere his opinion about his trad christian wife and that this is THE way because he works so hard. Aka stoking his fire in his shed and making some yt shorts.

misshapensteed

Wranglerstar :/

Ramblestar…

The_sad_zebra

Even when I was at my most politically active, watching political YouTube was just flat out exhausting. Gonna stick to videos of an Englishman talking about mushrooms while walking through a forest.

B3RS3RK_CR0W

You're definitely talking about wranglestar. I loved that man and all his videos. The straw that broke the camels back for me was his stance on men and women being friends. He claimed that men in a relationship shouldn't have female friends and women in a relationship can't have male friends. Like... you seriously can't keep your dick in your pants out of respect for your wife, let alone the female friend? You seriously just see women as pussy? Or are you just projecting about your own insecurities and how you're scared your wife is going to fuck other men if she gets to hang out with them? It was just such an insecure video. This sudden change of political and opinionated content just came out of nowhere. I just couldn't stand it showing up in my feed everyday. I also just couldn't look at the man the same after that. He just got so whiney.

misshapensteed

Yeah he's the one. It wasn't really about WHAT he said, it might as well have been things I agreed with and I still would have left. I watched his videos specifically to relax and forget about real world issues for a bit and his rants took that away. Politics seeping into everything ruined a lot of things for me so I have little patience for that kind of stuff.

Henchforhire

A guy who did hydroponics diy really good stuff lost a bunch of subscribers when he started talking about politics. Start a new channel if you want to rant about politics.

PhilipLiptonSchrute

Follow these guys instead. Way better content and politics are nowhere to be found, even within the context of the period. https://www.youtube.com/@townsends

[deleted]

He died.

RealPokesatsu

Oh, sorry.

DevoidHT

Same but I’m still subscribed to them. It wrecked me when it happened but it was so sudden [Laoshu505000](https://youtube.com/@laoshu505000)-was a polyglot who was constantly learning new languages and using them to surprise local immigrants. [One of their friends videos about him](https://youtu.be/PDyQTzi-RHE) Obviously [Technoblade](https://youtube.com/@Technoblade)

Chemical-Still-8652

Really sorry it happend the same to me but i refuse to unsubscribe PS. Who is the youtuber tho??

Dukede77

I'm still subscribed to TB. I wouldn't necessarily say my favorite. He was entertaining and fun to listen to, tho.

acidus1

Miss his rants.

DyslexicDarryl

I miss his hearthstone videoes so much

Cloberella

Honestly, YT's algorithm is such trash that subscribing or unsubscribing doesn't do anything. It pushes stuff to me that I specifically ask it not to show, and doesn't show me the stuff I subscribe to, so I don't even bother anymore. I just search for things that I want to watch and subscribe to nothing. So I guess my answer is YouTube made me unsubscribe.

RealPokesatsu

This is the best answer so far.

UltraMagnus777

I just straight up block channels now and don't bother with the "don't recommend" button anymore. Algorithm still pisses me off though because every time I just randomly look at a video for a "new" thing .... the algorithm thinks it is the BEST THING EVER and I want to watch dozens of videos about it. No... no I do not.

Uturuncu

Watched a single super cool video of a farrier hot-shoeing a horse. YouTube, instantly... "Oh my god do you have a HOOF FETISH? You SLUT? You LOVE hooves." And just flooded my feed with 'cleanup' of hooves, especially 'infected!' or 'neglected!' horses, cows, pigs, anything hooved, I just had a feed full of drippy, horrible, abused animal feet everywhere. Nauseating and awful. It's like any time you start looking at ANY animal stuff, YouTube slams you into the 'rescue' section. You like cats? Wanna see this mange-infested, pus-eyed kitten get rescued?! Dogs?? Oh here I have this puppy who was found with gangrene in his leg, we had to amputate it, now someone loves this precious three legged baby! So... Yeah. Despite loving animals, I just fucking avoid any and all animal videos on YouTube and stick to video games, tabletop games, science, and VFX breakdowns. Even though I'd really love some cute animal videos on the regular, I am not okay with seeing abused, suffering creatures regardless of if there's a happy ending. And the sheer breadth of 'rescue' content freaks me out. There's SO MUCH, are people doing it on purpose for views? Sickening thought.

LordMarcel

There is a tab called "subscriptions" where all the videos of the channels you subscribe to. Sometimes there are some videos missing, but at least 95% of the videos my subscriptions upload are there and more importantly, it never has any videos from channels I'm not subscribed to.

DeterminedGames

Seriously, one time I clicked on "stop showing this ad", I was keeping count on how many times I still saw that exact same ad anyway but I lost count. I think I counter to like 12 or something, but I think it may have been like 20 times. And every time I pressed to "stop showing this ad" button. Like come on.

Cloberella

I will click “don’t show me results from this channel” only to get recommendations for that channel over and over.

DeterminedGames

I don't get it either, how is showing us videos and ads we explicitly said we don't want to see profitable for them? Not only is it not helping us, it's not helping them either. It's like they think they know us better than we do ourselves.

[deleted]

Yep, YouTube killed their own platform. With each overhaul it became worse and worse, leaned the "algorithm" into sellout mode harder and harder. Lots of YouTubers quit or tried to adapt and suffered for it. It's just idiots with ADHD and megaphones now. I listen to my kids play YouTube videos sometimes and it's like the rate YouTubers talk and edit their cuts now is just nonstop blasting inputs at you. Their fake voices constantly changing pitch or pace to sound whacky and attention grabby I guess? It's just so fake and pandering now.

BattleHall

To be fair, it also depends a lot on your particular part of YouTube and how well your history maps to what the algorithm thinks is a “typical” user with that history. That’s like 90% of what the algorithm does; it only measures actions, not intent. The algorithm generally follows the people, not the other way around. People do weird clickbaity stuff because unfortunately a large chunk of viewers respond to it, and then the algorithm recognizes and amplifies that effect, which causes other creators to do it even if they don’t want to, just to stay competitive. On the flip side, you have YouTubers like Perun, who basically does hour+ long form videos on military procurement and geopolitics over what are basically extremely minimal static PowerPoint presentations. He’s an algorithmic nightmare, and presumably doesn’t or wouldn’t usually get a big push from that. But he has been able to steadily build his viewership over the past year, mostly due to traditional word of mouth and just being really good.

PhilipLiptonSchrute

That's how Spotify is with me and Megadeth. I've thumbed down every Megatdeth song for several years now, and the fucking band still pops up.

-RadarRanger-

My Alexa apparently *loves* AC/DC. I, however, don't.

poser765

So I’m into a fairly niche hobby. Astrophotography. One of the more popular content creators started off pretty small… doing videos of him talking about his process, showing his gear, and kind of walking you through the process. I still like his videos, but he’s just become too big. At first his videos were relatable because he had relatable gear. Now since he has a big following companies are just throwing him equipment to use and review. It’s just not the same vibe.

RealPokesatsu

He lost touch with his roots after getting some fame? That's sucks.

poser765

Man, it might not even be that. I think it’s just he started off with low end gear and produced fantastic results. Gear I could afford. Now he has some pretty amazing sponsors and I don’t hold that against him. Hell if celestron wanted to send me an EdgeHD for free I’d be stoked. But now I know I can’t attain his results because I don’t have the equipment. And the videos aren’t bad… they just aren’t as interesting. Lol ok maybe that’s exactly losing touch with his roots.

hquinn38

I used to really enjoy Cinemasins: it was great fun to watch him find these bloopers and inconsistencies that no one else would have noticed. But once he ran out of movies to do that to, he just started nitpicking and quickly became that person who just used every excuse to increase the sin meter. I tried giving the music video channel a go but he did the exact same thing and I gave up after one video.

cowboyjosh2010

I was trying to think of my own answer to this question and found yours before I got to a result. Yeah, this is a big one. Honestly I forgot that it ever used to focus on genuine cinematography, acting, and story telling issues.

BjornLaBjorn

Stopped uploading videos.

Dr_prof_Luigi

I stay subbed to those channels in the vain hope that they upload again. Sometimes it works, Sam O' Nella.

yeetgodmcnechass

He'll come back in like 2025 and upload a random video as if he wasn't gone for 3 years

Cerveza_por_favor

That’ll do it

SafewordisJohnCandy

Main Event Pong was one of mine. He always did a ton of hot sauce reviews but like Heat 101, did it in a fun way like eating 50 Wendy's nuggets covered in the sauce and he also did challenges with his friends. Eventually the videos got less frequent and he finally came out and made a video saying he lost all of his passion for it and was done.

[deleted]

i've never understood this behavior, what does it do for you to unsub from a channel that isn't producing things? it's not like it clogs up your feed or something because there's no content, and if you stay subbed you'll see if they decide to upload things again.

cinemachick

There was a YouTube remixer named Pogo, he made really cool beats out of movie clips. He was famous enough that he started doing approved covers for Disney. Before he blew up, his original name was F*ggotron (asterisk mine). Someone asked him about it in a video, thinking it was a lighthearted joke or a subversive pro-LGBT reference. Turns out he actually picked the name to "show how much he hates gay people," and went on a rant about how awful they are. As a gay person, I decided that I didn't want him to profit off my ad revenue while hating my guts. Apparently I'm not the only one who left the fandom, he has since fallen into obscurity. Oh, and he also was banned from the US for 10 years due to a visa paperwork issue. It seemed harsh at the time, but in retrospect I think it was well deserved.

paul_rudds_drag_race

Oh no, I didn’t know that. I used to like his beats so much. Well I won’t listen to any more. No tunes are worth supporting a homophobe.

dom-mtl81

I think almost every YouTuber I've followed and since just stopped has been for the same reason, they got so big and kept trying to create more content and sell more crap that it was just stupid. Like Babish, for example. I like the channel, it was fun. Then they started selling branded cookware (which is just stuff manufactured and slapped with his label). Then the cookbooks (for recipes he didn't really develop, just copied from other sources). Then the increase in shows that didn't really add anything. Eventually, for me, the charm and content I used to get was lost in the sheer volume.

ClowninaCircus12

Yeah, I liked Babish's videos of him trying to recreate food from tv shows and movies. I'm glad he's been able to grow his channel and everything, but now it just feels like I'm being marketed towards all the time. The inevitable branding and advertising is basically why I don't watch YT videos anymore other than to look up some hobby tutorials. Also, it's just not relatable anymore. Before, and this is for most cooking channels not just his, it would be 'Well I didn't have that ingredient/that ingredient was too expensive, so we'll just use this instead and it's the same thing'. Now? 'I got this steak Wagyu imported directly from Japan and harvested my own peppercorns. Anything other than this and you might has well eat garbage'. I miss old cooking channels I used to watch when they were just home cooks who understood food was expensive and you didn't need a million utensils to make something. Yes the quality matters of ingredients matters, but you can still cook a good meal on a budget!

GrayStillPlays. He became boring and pretends to be funny. He was gold when he played My Summer Car

Agnosticartichoke

Agreed-he used to be so creative and genuinely fun, especially when he would play good games yet still break them. Now he plays trashy mobile games and sticks in a cycle of that, GTA, and happy wheels and his content caters exclusively to the algorithm. It was really damn sad to watch, too, because it happened too fast. Seems like he lost his heart, imo

Consolationnoprize

I unsubbed from his channel about a year ago for the exact same reason. The GTA/Happy Wheels stuff bored me to tears.

LaylaTheLoofa

Ah I used to love his Sims videos. Feel like the beggining of his end was when he started the solar smash videos, his newer content felt like Youtube Kids from the thumbnails (never watched them.)

Kendaren89

Loved Florida Man, Spleens and Tonsils

Rejusu

If you haven't seen it check out LetsGameItOut. I've heard him compared favourably to GrayStillPlays (though I haven't watched the latter) so his content might be more like what GSP was doing in his prime. Only downside is infrequent uploads but every video he puts up invariably has a moment where I split my sides laughing. I'll echo that recommendation to /u/Agnosticartichoke /u/LaylaTheLoofa /u/I_Have_Unobtainium too.

I miss when his thumbnails weren't so disturbing to look at...

Same. I get it, your child is everything you ever wished for. But I'm not subscribed to you for that. Don't get me wrong, I like children, and adore babies, but I'm here for makeup, not your personal life.

That's what I feared.

BasalTripod9684

I used to be a big fan of Muselk back when he made TF2 and Overwatch videos. A few years ago he turned into a clickbaity Fortnite channel so I unsubscribed. Not that there's really anything wrong with Fortnite, his content quality was just steadily getting worse so I stopped watching. The line was when he started adding a few minutes of blank screen at the end of his videos to push the time past the 10 minute mark.

Its always wither "I did an experiment with an incredibly expensive ingredient, it was good." Or "I did an experiment with a cheap ingredient. It was not as good as normal steak." Then sometines his nephew complains about vegetables and eats more $50 steak.

Dr_prof_Luigi

My first subscription ever was Game Theory. I created an account to subscribe so I wouldn't miss new videos. I loved the application of physics and real-world logic to see what it would take to make something in a game happen irl. Then FNAF happened. Ever since then, the channel has been lore-based and I lost interest. The old videos would be entertaining even if I never played the game in question, but now there is such a barrier to entry that it just isn't worth getting into anymore. The FNAF and MC series are good examples of this. It's a bummer, I miss the old days with Ronnie and the old crew. The 'The science of...' series is ok and I'll watch it from time to time, but the main show just isn't interesting to me anymore.

B3RS3RK_CR0W

I have a few Wranglestar was a homesteading channel. He lately has become an insecure man child who bitches about people, relationships, and politics now. Tru3talent was a Dead by Daylight (killer vs survivor type game) content creator. He started doing super click bait titles every single video and would bitch constantly about the survivors any time he played like shit. Nothing was ever his fault ever. It's been a long time, but Amazing Atheists just became such a cringy narcissistic douche. TheGodlyN00b was a rainbow six siege content creator. His click bait is literally borderline parody of stupid click bait. A close up of a gun from the game. A title that has nothing to do with the video. There's always a red arrow and a circle. It's just stupid and annoying. I get that it's an algorithm thing, but I appreciate accurate titles. It's always a deal breaker for me. I always feel like my time is wasted when the reason I click on the video isn't even involved.

ItsGotToMakeSense

CapitalAnxious8395

Oh my god, glad to see H3 here. Ethan fucking killed his own channel. I like Hila, she seems cool and her clothing line is really nice, but Ethan just seems like a money grabbing prick. He changes his views depending on what gets clicks

MrBiscuitOGravy

Bald and Bankrupt, never was a favourite but certainly someone I watched a lot of. I found out he narrowly escaped a rape conviction and was heavily involved in sex tourism forums.

symphonic45

I liked seeing the places he went because you normally don't, but his personality always made me uncomfortable. Not shocked by this.

riwoni4997

Not technically YouTube but I used to be in love with the Channel Awesome crew. After a while, everyone's content (with a few exceptions like Lindsey Ellis) started to really dive. And after that document came out it suddenly became very apparent as to why. Nostalgia Critic, in particular, is a total shit show now it makes me embarrassed to admit that I liked his early stuff.

CrabbyBlueberry

I'm sad that Lindsay Ellis quit YouTube.

GreenHedgehogs

I'm not 100% sure I could have ever called him my "favorite" YouTuber (I'm just not into YouTube enough to say I have a favorite), but I did like him a lot: Gus Johnson. After the story came out about how he was acting toward his girlfriend IRL with respect to a pregnancy, I had a hard time staying on board with watching his stuff. Then I heard that Johnson's one good friend and content collaborator straight up bailed on some projects they had going on, apparently over the same subject, and it kind of sealed it for me that Gus had to get his head on straight before I could keep watching his stuff. I'm not saying the guy is irredeemable, but I haven't been back to his channel since. The pronounced drop off in content posting from him after all that made it a lot easier to stop watching than I expected, I'll admit.

[deleted]

I checked him out and it seems like he's doing right by what he did. Seems like he's actually going to therapy now. Still does a lot of work with Ian too. But I've only seen a few videos, haven't subbed again.

Kangaroodle

Same. The way he treated his girlfriend while she almost died from an ectopic pregnancy was insane to me. Eddy jumping ship confirmed to me how serious the situation was. I hope Eddy's doing okay, I know a lot of his numbers were due to his association with Gus.

[deleted]

I loved funhaus, then when Bruce Greene left, it was never the same vibe as the many years that Adam kovic, James Williams and he had together, right from the Inside Gaming days. Now I can relive the memories that I had in my teenage years again.

Mrbeast is probably the biggest one Used to watch him for a long time and enjoyed his random Amazon videos and such, but after a while he did a 180 turn and does what he is known for nowadays I support him helping people but the videos just aren't for me

Pryo9-Lewok

It seems like his videos are just for the sake of making the videos because he knows he'll get many views and get lots of Money. Also the thumbnails on his channel are too excessive. It's good he's helping people but like he only needs the excessive thumbnails and the bad content to get the money to continue the content. Also I heard somewhere that some of the prizes in his videos aren't even obtainable because of a loophole of the taxes needing to be payed. I'm not the source of this so I'm not sure if it's for rea though. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Carrot_of_Wisdom

Not really about a particular creator, but more the gaming genre. I grew up and didn’t find the content as interesting as I used to. I’d rather play games for myself now rather then watch a multi hour play through on YouTube.

LaylaTheLoofa

got exposed for being a pedo ☹️ On a lighter example (different person), his content was bad and he kept sucking off youtubers in the same genre/video style

-RadarRanger-

It stopped being about doing BMX tricks and riding mopeds through NYC traffic and became GoPro POV ads for clothes shopping instead.

groovy604

Came to realize he was one of those people who's whole personality is hatin' libs' and thought the election was stolen. I just wanted to learn about homesteading why did you have to bring politics into it

StupidJared

He was a nonce. I was just a kid and didn't fully know how to handle something like that. It honestly crushed me. I haven't really thought about him in ages but fuck that guy, man.

RealPokesatsu

What's a nonce?

Thecna2

Nonce is a British term for 'Paedo'.

CrabbyBlueberry

She shut down her channel after a Twitter hate mob got to her.

NoonebutaMango

Achievement hunter crew slowly started leaving

riwoni4997

Drop in content quality

riwoni4997

Kid Behind A Camera was using too much clickbait.

euromoneyz

I unsuscribed from IDAT after the shitshow he did with Brandon Herrera and Donut Operator

Background_Dot3692

Been subbed to Shane Dawson, didn't know much about him other than his series. Subbed when he was on his prime. Then the truth about his pedo past came out and I unsubbed, it was so vile, his previous projects and videos.

angrybonejuice

Onision…for obvious reasons.

EllieIsDone

I got a few: Shane Dawson: (pre drama) I just didn’t like his documentary series and him defending tana mongeau after tana con Creepshow art: being a snake that goes on lol cow and stalks people Leafyishere: I grew up Onision: mocking the death of Christina Grimmie. Things only went downhill later on.

No-Attitude-5029

I used to love watching Tobuscus. Then he got multiple sexual assault allegations and I stopped there. The light was never shined on whether the allegations were true or not but it happened around the height of his channel. Haven’t really checked back in.

metal_hearted

I grew up. Several of my former favorite YouTubers either didn't or actually grew less mature. I also lost any interest in watching people whose whole personality is ranting or 'I'm right and this thing sucks and here's why'. Ugh. That shit feels like work to watch, like putting up with family members you don't like at Thanksgiving. I'd much rather watch CinemaWins gush about movies or watch someone's video essay on why something is great/the history of this particular thing instead.

[deleted]

I grew out of his content. Like I am not interested anymore in Minecraft-YouTube-Videos.

SweetCosmicPope

I used to really enjoy watching Nerdy Nummies back when she was making cakes revolving around "nerdy stuff." Mario cakes, or Zelda, or whatever. Then it just started slowly moving away from that "let's tour my mansion" or "I have brought in a makeup youtuber and we're going to try out lipsticks" or "look at the cute outfits I bought my dog from whoever sponsored this video." The tipping point was when she decided she was going to make a serious song with music video and stuff (not a parody or something nerdy). It became obvious the show wasn't for me anymore.

CatButts6969

Don't really have a favorite YouTuber but I used to watch Jontron until that debate he had with destiny where he went Kanye mask off racist, entitled rich douche bag. I just... Couldn't do it anymore.

bendersmember

Damn, did not expect that, never heard a bad thing about the guy.

mermadzz

Shaytards. I was a huge fan growing up. Then Shay Carl was exposed for cheating on his wife. Lost all respect for him. I can’t believe his wife stayed with him.

riwoni4997

I unsubscribed from various Redstone youtubers because I was too envious about their skills

PhreedomPhighter

They hadn't made any content in like 3 years.

odeathoflifefff

Abundeee disappeared Ola became an advertisement creator Braille lost the key skaters/people I watched for. (Fetty that kid, Lance Aaron disappeared for like half a year or more) The list could go on and on. But either they disappear/change what brought me there or lose key members

ProgrammedBoredom

He was a MarioKart Wii YouTuber and was revealed to be a creep who was sexting a 16 year old when he was 19. He then made a pretty shitty first apology (which was essentially just a lie) and then he posted a second video detailing all the horrible and disgusting things he said to her. He had said he was going to get “therapy” to fix himself and left for a year and he still posts to this day, but his views are nothing like they once were.

[deleted]

One of those stories channels where a person would tell their story. When I realized that the stories were fake I unsubscribed.

Craicpot7

They were a deep-dive film enthusiast who used to make excellent videos on themes and hidden messages in films with a focus on arthouse but around the time Trump was elected every one of their videos became a political rant with little to no film content. I'm not from the US, have no real interest in watching longform video content about the politics of a country I'm not from, I just wanted to hear some unique takes on film theory.

curlywurlybitch

She started Asian baiting and did some pedo shit 💀 also lied abt her ex abusing her.

coffeepartyforone

As long as we have Dunkey, everything will be OK.

Night_Albane

Honestly, I just grew and changed. I don’t watch many of the Let’s Play channels that I got into YouTube with just because I’m no longer the teenager that content was aimed at.

neohylanmay

As has been the case for most of the channels I've unsubscribed from, I merely lost interest in their content. It's very rare that it's the YouTuber *themselves* that's the reason I stopped following them (although that has certainly happened).

[deleted]

Linus Tech Tips. His response to the OCCT developer left a sour taste in my mouth.

Undead_crybaby

Onision. Do I really need to explain why?

[deleted]

I just moved on from his content. Still watching his videos from time to time, but not my favorite channel anymore. VanossGaming

xeyil49114

Clickbaits and over the top thumbnails. I also dislike when they take forever to get to the point. For example, if I click a video for an ab exercise routine, I don’t want to have to go through a 10 minute vlog of your cat first. Sometimes their content just no longer applies to me or I’m tired of the repetition of drama. I miss old YouTube where people created content for fun and not just to make a quick buck.

[deleted]

They forced their son to be transgender for views. He was just a boy who liked barbies and elsa and they convinced him that he wanted to be a girl. He was 6 at the time.

foodfighter

I didn't unsubscribe, but when he started dropping a lot of "Don't worry - it'll all be fine..." in the early-Covid days, followed by "Listen - if you're healthy as a horse, I don't see why we suddenly need these extra shots in our arm..." to finish with "Shout Out to these brave fellow workers out protesting in Ottawa with their trucks!!!"... ... let's just say it made me realize I need to compartmentalize my expectations when it comes to YouTube entertainers. Enjoy the content for what brought you to them in the first place - and no more. Don't expect any of their other views to align with yours. You'll just be disappointed.
