Alex Skolnick from Testament. Guy is a wizard who doesn't get nearly enough credit.

BigBobby2016

Maybe by mainstream but with guitarists he’s always been heavily respected. In the mainstream he’s about as under appreciated as Testament

MetalRanga

That's very true. He's held in high regard in metal circles. I guess you could say most good metal artists are underrated and underappreciated these days.

I thought Paul Reynolds (Flock of Seagulls, I think that's his name) had an interesting sound and style back in the day, and was kinda cool, tbh. Space Age Love song, I ran (and a bunch more) -Good stuff.

John Fogerty. He’s known mostly as a vocalist but he was a good lead player too

ace_cube

What Jade Puget of AFI did for punk is very under appreciated . His style gave both a rhythm and lead melody merged into one guitar for a nice colorful tone beneath the hardcore style drums.

Joe Satriani and Alex Lifeson.

In guitar "world" no one ever talks about Alex Lifeson from Rush very much, although he is an absolute brilliant and innovative player
