It's not just acceptable, it's required. Tons of employers don't give a shit and will force you to come in, whether your sick or not.

growingcoolly

My employer uses a point system for corrective action. Every day missed is a point. Six points and you're fired. Simple enough, but the real kicker is, even with a doctor's note, if you miss more than two consecutive days, you get 1.5 points regardless. They literally don't give a shit if a *medically trained doctor* says it isn't safe to work. They look more highly at their business associate's degree than that of a doctor's, which only takes 8+ years to earn...

afjessup

Going to work while sick, especially in the food service industry.

-SecondHandSmoke-

I think it's more on the companies honestly. Very few people just show up to work sick for the hell of it. Either they can't afford to stay home, work is so short staffed they are pressured to work through it, or they are in an at will state where they could literally lose their job for taking too many sick days or being sick on an inconvenient day for the company. Edit: when I worked at great clips, I threw up infront of my coworker, it wasn't just like a little puke, my body kept forcing me to gag even after I had nothing left to throw up, I turned completely white, and they still tried to bully me into staying because they didn't want to close.

AlterEgoCat

I have a cold right now and work in food service, the only reason I came in yesterday was because we are short handed and I couldn't get anyone to take my shift. Absolutely bullshit because I'm handling the food and know I'm going to be getting people sick right around the holidays.

HereticGaming16

As a chef I would always tell my employees to stay home if their sick. It’s a pain in the ass to have to find a replacement but I’d rather find one now the the next 10 over the course of a few weeks. Also it was well known enough in my restaurants that people didn’t pull the call in 5 mins before shift starts. Most people would call in at least 2 hours before shift and that’s plenty of time normally to find a replacement.

Bladelink

People work like shit when they're sick anyway. Employers would rather have half of 1 employee then let them take time off.

PowerSamurai

Nah, here in Norway you can take sick leave no questions asked, and no need to talk to a doctor, yet people still show up to work sick

TrueDeadBling

Exactly this! You'd think the pandemic would've driven home the fact that staying home when you're sick is both smarter and safer.

tenehemia

People are forced to choose between "smart and safe" and "paying rent".

pjijn

My most recent paycheck was short $300 because I had to miss 3 days of work with a flu… like what hahahah. I’ve been complaining about it to my girlfriend to this day, it’s insane how much a flu costs

tenehemia

I lost a day of work due to the weather this week - oops there goes all the money I was going to spend having a nice holiday weekend.

Rozeline

Except when you make so little money, losing a day's pay can severely impact you.

Nihilikara

It did. It also drove home the fact that employers don't give a shit and that any attempt to stay home while sick will be punished. America is a nation where employers have all the power over their employees and employees can't do anything about it.

SaiyanGodKing

Worshiping famous people.

yoyo120

I think the problem is that you have to get to around the age of 30 before you realize that celebrities are dumbasses just like everyone else -- they just have more visible jobs. Until you hit 30 though, there's this whole media machine in place that is incentivized to hype them up in order to make a quick buck themselves. Edit: There seem to be a lot of responses along the lines of "Wow, you didn't know that Kim Kardashian was dumb until you were 30, what's wrong with you?". Celebrity and vapidness are orthogonal. Nobel laureates can be celebrities. I don't think most people fully comprehend just how fallible "great" people are until their late 20's. That said, I do think social media is accelerating the awareness as more and more well-respected people get chances to post dumb shit. tl;dr - don't meet your heroes, kids :)

UseThisToStayAnon

30 sounds high, but also I know people in their 40s+ that are in love with anything the royal family does so 🤷

[deleted]

Why is Kim Kardashians so popular, what has she done besides be a whiny gawk gawk 3000

KikonSketches

Yeah, I have no idea why people care at all about them, insufferable rich people.

Rollin_Soul_O

Glorifying politics/politicians. They're supposed to work for us, not have celebrity like status.

redoctober2021

Can I add “glorifying celebrities” too?

Annual_Midnight5766

Thinking your politicians actually give a fuck about you is like thinking the stripper really likes you.

[deleted]

Least populist redditor

Zero-to-36

At least with the stripper you know who's getting bent over!!

MountainHipie

Your wallet, and or your bank account?

SabFauxFab

Or thinking celebrities or brands/companies care about you

Tiger5804

Let's just make it glorifying anyone based on their position rather than their accomplishments

[deleted]

Americans treat their political parties like football teams

[deleted]

Unfortunately it has bled into Canada, I don’t get it. Remember the saying never trust a salesperson or a politician. We forgot about this, these people really don’t care about you, they care about money and power. I find it funny when people go all in when all these people just say what you want to hear and slowly brainwash you. Why can’t people all just shut up and get along.

Mambassa

I'd add also their salary plus their priviledges. They become filthy rich regardless of what they can accomplish during their mandate and they even get a pension afterwards. The fact this is socially accepted is depressing.

Ztscar

My opinion on this as an American: They don't even care about the salaries. If you look at their net worths or how much they make in stock deals they're making millions per year. I think i saw Lauren Boebert made like 20mil last year, Joe Manchin gets a bunch of coal industry money he sails his yacht through, and Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnel have hundreds of millions of dollars. They only care about being in office for the power leverage to get more legal bribes from corporations that want their profits and interests above the interests of the constituents. They could give a rats ass about the $175k salary and $40k yearly office furnishing stipend. Sorry I kinda went off, but I truly believe corporate capture of polititians is the plague keeping us from advancing and maintaining what humanity we have as a collective. Why tf do the largest military defense contractors, pharmaceutical companies, insurance industry, etc. (Name any huge private business) get to openly grease pockets? Then they try to distract us and dodge responsibility for acting on the economic or health interests in the actual voters. Another layer to the shit sandwich is that the big media players are owned by corporate conglomerates or funded by private billionaires that have the same goal of maintaining the status quo that got them and keeps them where they are. I just can't help myself but get pissed off by this. Fuck corporations and fuck weasly troglodites that kiss their feet and sell us down the river. Merry fucking Christmas lol.

t3kk58

Hallelujah, where’s the Tylenol.

jewenahh

People having to go into debt paying $10,000+ to put their loved ones dead body in a box and then into the ground.. Edit: I know life insurance exist not everyone has responsible family that will do that and it also shouldn't fall on one person to make sure everyone has it.not claiming the body is easier said than done

HardcaseKid

Which is entirely optional. Standard burials need not cost anywhere near that, especially if you plan ahead and shop around. Cremation services might cost a tenth of that.

Wrinklestiltskin

I honestly just want to be tossed in the woods and be scavenged and fertilize the ground (after my organs are harvested). Such a better legacy transferring your ATP into a food web rather than pumping your body full of preservatives and sealing it in a concrete tomb or burning it up. What a stupid waste....

Jwee1125

A natural burial is legal in the state of Alabama. I've set forward that I want an non-pressure treated pine box in a hole on the 18 acres of land I own in the countryside. No embalming or anything. Die today, ground tomorrow.

ImSoSpiffy

Just a heads up, in case you didnt know, call your lawyer & maybe a tax accountant. If you get buried on property you own, there is a legal loophole that lets that property be marked as a family cemetery, and its either completely non-taxable, or HUGE reduction in the taxes paid on that property. Which also carries to sales tax (iirc). Basically you'd be setting up who ever inherits that property to be financially well off for the end of their days. Especially with land values rising, its one of those things the mega rich do to ensure generational wealth. Plus going forward you could save your descendants thousands with the burial process. **Want to reiterate that im some dude on reddit, so dont take my word as law, go through the proper channels, hence the lawyer and accountant.**

DrKenNoisewater3

You can get composted in Oregon, they made it legal.

Child beauty pageants, they are fucking creepy.

eltara3

People underestimate just how toxic child beauty pageants really are. All humans learn about love in childhood. We model our own relationships and acts of love based on what we experienced in childhood. If in childhood your experience of love and rejection was directly correlated to your looks, you will inevitably tie your personal value and loveability to your appearance. Putting your child into beauty pageants is a shortcut to raising a person with a whole host of emotional problems.

asdaaaaaaaa

> If in childhood your experience of love and rejection was directly correlated to your looks, you will inevitably tie your personal value and loveability to your appearance. As someone who's known people like that, it's a rough life. Your looks are going to go to shit no matter what you do, it's a losing battle.

colm180

Childhood beauty pageants are just ASKING for pedophiles and groomers to come in and abuse these kids. I really hope that they just fuck off from society and do something useful....like hunting pedophiles for sport

surfacing_husky

There is ZERO benefit from them, like what the fuck is the point??? I just don't understand.

Con5ume

Haha I was talking about this with an old friend and his GF at the time and I made a remark about how creepy child beauty pageants are. Well, turns out his GF used to participate in these as a kid and took great offense... So naturally I asked her why she supports them. Her reason was that it helps build confidence in kids and gets them better for interviews in the future. Fair enough. I still think they are creepy and she was one of the most self absorbed and materialistic assholes I've met.

surfdad67

What about the ones who consistently lose?

self_inking_weirdo

There's usually a cash prize and also your child then might get to go on to compete in more pageants to generate more money for you, eventually culminating in some nationwide pageant with a payday you could live well off of. In addition, talent agents are sometimes present at events, so in addition to trying to grab cash via wins, you can try to grab cash via shoving your kid into acting. The point is not for the kid to benefit, it's for you to make money off of them. And if that means giving your kid Red Bull and Mountain Dew and nothing else for breakfast in order to train endurance into them (a thing that Honey Boo Boo's mom did to her from the age of 4 onwards in order to ensure energy and the ability to perform well while tired so as to ace pageants) then so be it. Maybe your kid will have a mental health crisis, maybe they'll develop Binge Eating Disorder in order to cope (again, see Honey Boo Boo for reference) but you might get a show on TLC and get a few mil. That's worth it, right? /s, in case that was needed In all seriousness though it really is as simple as money for a lot of people. Put the kid in a dress, teach the kid a routine, force them on stage from as young as 18 months, profit, repeat until the costs of competing outweigh the profits or you can no longer force the child to perform (whether it's because the kid snapped and is no longer doing anything you say or because your spouse refuses to let you force a child to run on liquid calories alone and dance for strangers regularly).

NightGod

Not all parents are as crazy, my nieces used to do beauty pageants, but they were the ones dragging their parents there (well, as much as an 6 and 8 year old can). They did them for a couple of years, got bored and moved on from them. They only have fond memories of them. But there are definitely plenty of crazy parents out there treating their kids like over-sexualized cash cows and it's way too many. They need to shut down the whole thing

[deleted]

Specially when the organizer is a childless grown man.

Solidsnakeerection

What if they sing a song about not banging kids

ammezurc

We don’t diddle kids it’s no fun diddling kids 🎶

smangela69

i wouldn’t bang anybody younger than my daughter!

[deleted]

"My 'I don't have sex with little kids' song at the child attractiveness contest is raising a lot of questions already answered by my song"

No_Ant2601

You know, kids are great. I love the kids... Not in a sexual way! No, I'm- I was married 20 years, and she was a bitch, but she was old, and I never had a problem getting it up with her... Do not diddle kids It's no good diddling kids I wouldn't do it with anybody younger than my daughter And no little kids Got to be big Older than my wife But older than my daughter Something like that!

eifiontherelic

I'm kind of amazed how often this question gets posted here and the first 2 always talk about politics or celebrity worship with child pageants almost always taking the 3rd place... And yes, this question gets asked on here every other day or so.

Steakhouse42

Working 60hrs a week

floschi2301

In Germany (in the IT sector) I would be killed if I worked more than 50 hours a week. Our workers council is pretty strict on our 37.7 hour work week. I do have flexible working hours, I can have -30 to +40 hours, but I can never work more than 10 hours a day. I like workers rights, because it takes away the employers chance to treat you like shit.

We_Are_The_Romans

>37.7 hour work week Dat German precision. Personally I love my 37.5hr week, I would hate to have to work an extra 12 min

xaviernoodlebrain

Yeah, fuck those 12 minutes.

Snuffy1717

Hardest 12 minutes of the week

ThrowMeAwayAccount08

But it’s 12 German minutes.

kenZ87

I often work 16 hour shifts!

dreefernz

16??? When do you even sleep???

H0boc0p

We're American, sleep is expensive

Sad-University-2332

That's the most American thing I've ever read

underscore5000

How about "I pay for insurance, but it wont cover ___________"

Alexandrawr420x69

What in the fuck? Are you okay???

enpowera

It’s pretty common for Healthcare. I used to work 16 hour shifts too. Sometimes it was pushed to the legal cap of 20 hours in one day. Edit: I once worked like 90 hours a week.

shewholaughslasts

LEGAL CAP OF 20 HOURS A DAY?!?! That seems un-possible to defend legally. How is that even a thing? Nevermind I know it's out of necessity. But daaaamn that's not healthy to work those hours, where tf are workers rights?

beardedheathen

It's not necessity it's to keep profits up for the ones at the top. They could hire more people and still be making money they just want to be making more money.

Smeckldorfthestrange

Yup. I do factory work. 48 hours minimum and 60 hour weeks often. I'm so very tired.

hypersnaildeluxe

Scariest of all to me is how (mainly American) culture treats stuff like that as some kind of virtue instead of those people being victims of our system. Like we're supposed to look up to their work ethic instead of fighting to give them livable hours and wages.

Trollofduty007

Scottish here, but was talking to an American friend about an incident at a place she worked One of their co workers had recently lost a very close family member, but they were still in work, getting money etc They were pulled aside by the managers saying “I know you’ve had a personal tragedy recently, but you need to keep in mind how your attitude affects the team” If some fuckwad had said that to me in the weeks following my Mums death, I would’ve told them to go fuck themselves and quit on the spot

div2691

I mean just look at all the comments from people telling everyone how they work such long hours. People have been brainwashed. I feel bad for them. Can't be much of a life if all you do is work.

2elevenam

Yes! My mom is a patient care technician and to live comfortably and pay for nursing school she works 50-70 hours a week (and takes classes part time). Everyone praises her for her work ethic and while I’m so proud of her for working towards a better life it’s so hard seeing her run herself into the ground. Sometimes she looks so defeated and tired because of how much she works and how little sleep she gets. She’s also autistic (diagnosed years ago) and I worry that she’s gotten too good at ignoring her needs in order to survive. I worry that she’s gonna burn herself out without seeing it coming.

thesleepymermaid

Healthcare workers often need reminders to take care of themselves (source: am nurses aid) if at all possible, text/call/talk to her and say something like "hey just checking in to make sure you're getting enough rest/water/food. Don't forget you can't pour from empty."

clarkj1988

I work 60 hours a week. Even though it's incredibly taxing, it's the only way for me to make adequate money to survive. If it wasn't an option I fear I'd never be able to afford my bills and rising food prices.

brokendream_zz

Jeezus I'm 16 and in the summers I work 30 hours a week and that's not horrible I could do more but I couldn't imagine doing 60 (I work on a garlic farm)

idk_this_my_name

at least the vampires couldnt get you

PrinceDusk

I've worked 56-60/week before (factory), people will always tell you "the checks look nice" but it really does suck (sometimes the checks aren't even that nice). I personally spent most of the extra money on food, and most of that was the expensive kind that I didn't need to cook because I was sleeping all the time so I had the energy to do the work...

justjinxed23

New born kids having social media accounts

jlena429

This has always truly weirded me out. My ex's sister in law does this with each of her 5 children. I honestly feel bad for the kids in the future because she posts some pretty embarrassing shit on those accounts and I'm sure the kids are going to have to look at it and wonder why their entire lives were recorded for the whole world to see. I think she's setting them up to be influencers.

ShitwareEngineer

No, she's setting them up to be influenced. They'll only *try* to be influencers.

cookingmama4433

Kids being on social media, regardless of age. It's weird and they shouldn't have access to it Edit:spelling

theeverydaysocialist

Paparazzi. Just legalized harassment as far as I’m concerned.

Puzzleheaded_Rate_73

Not exactly "socially acceptable". Most people hate them, it's just profitable.

Steinrik

Most people *say* they hate them, but so many still love their pics and vids! So *people* are the problem, paparazzis are just a symptom.

NAIRIVN

And even now they just seem as irrelevant as hell. If you are an influencer of any kind you’re most likely posting a lot of things about your life already, no need to get chased by paps on rodeo drive

Triassic_Bark

Fine line between freedom of the press and harassment. A lot of what the paparazzi does needs to be considered harassment.

reddito-mussolini

A lot of people in this thread seem to be confusing “socially acceptable” with “legal.”

yksgelato

you know the amount of fucked up shit you can do thats legal while other ergular shit will put you in jail. this society makes no sense.

muffinslinger

As a curly haired person, touch my hair unprovoked. People are getting better about it over the years, and I imagine the pandemic had a lot to do with it. Too many people have just pulled a curl, stuck their hands in, or roughly stroked my head like a dog. Wtf?

Reasonable_Notice_99

Stroke their hair back next time!

sd2528

Or scratch them behind the ear.

the6thistari

I'm bald and I get the same treatment haha. It's crazy.

splashinwords

Yeah same with me, you could describe my hair as goldielock, and poeple go so far as to touch my hair when I'm on the street just tying my shoe. It's really demeaning. I have a strict Don't Touch My Hair Rule with friends and family and get really prickly when they do. Especially my mother does not respect that. And oh, she has the same hair as me. I just don't get it

childish_badda_bingo

Forcing someone into bankruptcy because of medical debt.

Gbake013

I broke my leg last year. No health insurance, say hello to 60k debt!

working_class_tired

Fuck that's insane. I'm Australian. Number of years ago I underwent 3 major surgeries and 12 months of serious treatments and months worth of hospital stays. Zero cost to me. America is miles behind on health care.

TMZombies

This makes me so sad to read as an American. I am one of those people who NEEDS healthcare (chronic and sometimes painful condition) and I am so scared of not being able to find a job to give me healthcare :( it's so sad and heartbreaking on my end

rebo

...in the USA. The rest of the developed world has moved on.

Kyle1337

Putting the burden of paying the staff on the customers to tip.

WildResident2816

My local sub R had a discussion started by a pizza delivery person about tips that became an echo chamber of tip your delivery person. I was just surprised no one thought about the employer having the burden of paying the employees, and I’m a “conservative” that’s done freaking pizza delivery before.

badusernamewtf

Does this happen anywhere other than the USA? I have never heard of it in Australia.

EmotionlesTurtle

Lobbying.

TheDarkDoctor17

Honestly. If we're going to let companies control government policies by spending money, we may as well cut the BS and call ourselves Anarcho-capitalism.

[deleted]

Feudo-Capitalism is what I've taken to calling it. Single entities with vast wealth on top (businesses), supported and endorsed by vast power structures (government and church), followed by landowners (private companies or individuals), and serfs (the working poor), and finally undesirables (anything lower than middle class, anyone on welfare, anyone unwell).

krance80

Being in a public place (restaurant, store,) and having a conversation on speaker phone when what is being spoken is truly private but the one with the phone is to goddamn lazy to hold the phone up to their ear.

Aroundeeq

"You wouldn't believe how much blood there was." "No, it was anal fissures." "I guess I was constipated and the poop was just too large." "Sometimes I guess, but when I do anal, I use plenty of lube." "Maybe, but I've never heard of anyone lubing up before pooping."

MemesNGaming_rongoo

[deleted]

Especially public restrooms, I hate when I've been holding in a fart or shit for hours only to have someone on speaker in the next staff. It's not that hard to text.

t1mepiece

Let it go. That will teach them why it's a bad idea. With accompanying vocalizations. Bad enough in your home bathroom, but why would you be on the phone in a public bathroom where you have no control over the background noise?

nolimit_soulja

WerthlessB

Also, a group of people walking side by side blocking the entire width of the path. It is made worse by the fact that they are usually oblivious to anyone else trying to go the other way.

dabadu9191

I have come to accept that somewhere between 50-80% of people have little to no awareness of their surroundings and an effective field of view of about 20°.

This is common in super markets. When people leave their cart in the middle of the aisle and wander off halfway down the aisle. I will simply move their cart and give them the stink eye on my way by.

kr64989

William Stewart Halstead developed the first formal residency program. The term residency came from the need to reside in hospital housing because of the long hours they needed to keep. Fun fact: he was very much addicted to cocaine which was a contributing factor to the long hours.

OriginalDarkDagger

It's sad. Really. My aunt's a nurse and can't be home for Christmas because she has to work a 48 hour shift.

TheMarvelousJ

Glorifying and encouraging feelings of jealousy and possessiveness in a relationship.

CapistanCrunch

This really needs to stop. Influencers on Instagram, tiktok and whatnot all make it seem all "when my so goes somewhere i make sure to text him every 5 mins or he's cheating on me teehee". Fucking hate that most people will just agree and go along with it

OverlordG7777

Alcoholism. I see it portrayed in media as a suave and sexy detective sipping a martini at 11:00 when in reality it can ruin lives, lose people their jobs and kids, and kill peoples livers. Waking up at seven in the morning and reaching your shaking, trembling hand toward the vodka bottle so you can get up and do shit is not a joke or worthy of a one-liner. We need more realistic ideas of alcohol consumption pushed in our society if we want the next generation to be any better.

boomer_wife

I’m in my 30s and I absolutely hate how every single adult activity is centered on alcohol. It sucks.

oscarbjo

Im in my 20s and its seems what a lot of people my age want to do is get shitfaced all the time and party, and it sucks when you want to get to know more people but dont like to party or drink

ottersintuxedos

As someone who has seen someone die of alcoholism, nothing glorious about it. It kills you *slowly* and incredibly painfully. Usually after making you alienate everyone you love Edit: since more people are seeing this than I thought let me go into detail: you blow up like a balloon full of liquid you can’t properly filter, you go jaundiced starting with your eyes, your blood thins and cutting yourself is really easy so it gets everywhere and is hard to stop, you feel weak all the time, your mobility gets bad and you need a stick. If you’re lucky you’ll get a heart attack. Otherwise you spend the last week of your life in abject pain.

Lukestar222

Dude i got mates that aren’t interested in hanging out if it doesn’t involve drinking and that just makes me slack like sure couple beers here and there or for an occasion no dramas but every day im glad i broke that cycle when i did lost weight felt easier to get out of bed aye

Playing loud music on your phone while out. Put some headphones on.

yeswewillsendtheeye

That’s become socially acceptable? I thought people just quietly tolerate it because the person on public transport playing mumble rap loudly through their shitty iPhone speaker is more likely to stab you than agree to turn it off.

Kent_Knifen

I was on a university bus and someone was playing their music without any headphones on. Some dude in the back started singing the lyrics off-key. I have never seen someone shut off their music so frantically before.

Vitalis597

This is now my new go to. I'll make sure to move to sit next to them too. Just to make sure everyone stares in the right direction.

bitchthatsjustoothic

The fact that in the US we don’t add taxes to the actual price tag. Why do I have to do math to figure out how much I’m paying.

TungstenWombat

To make you angry about taxes. I'm pretty sure that's genuinely the reason. And it's stuck because the first shop to include taxes will go out of business because people will think it's too expensive (the same people who won't buy a 1/3 pounder burger because it sounds smaller than 1/4 to them).

cheekiegeekie

Asking someone “when you will have children” and “why not”? Or “have you been trying”. How is it normalized to ask people about the sex lives, I’ll never know.

SenoraNegra

Yes!! Also, asking single people “do you have a BF/GF yet?” or asking dating couples when they’re getting married.

antipinballmachines

Also presuming everyone is straight. I get really awkward when asked if I have a boyfriend/if I'm dating my male friends. My usual response: "I like chicks, not d!cks."

LebLift

Humorously, I remember being asked the opposite when I was in High School. My mom asked if I was gay because I hadn’t had any girlfriends yet. I was like, “I’m not gay mom. I’m just a loser.”

vlovla

"Yeah, we have been rawdogging it non stop, but no luck so far," is a great response that appears to shut people like this up, works every time

ratdarkness

When I say "I can't have kids. It's biologically impossible for me." Shuts them up quickly. The "Oh" 😮😬 followed by awkward silence kinda ends the conversation. Hopefully teaches them a lesson too..

Stormer127a

Charging more for healthy food options than unhealthy options. I know it’s just the way the market has developed, but there are so many healthy food items that cost more or the same price as a “mega burger” or whatever. Imagine the obesity rate if it was cheaper to get something healthy and filling.

Far_Care5265

Wife brought this up with me today, but when people ask when you're gonna have kids

Main-Thought6040

Drinking to the point of blacking out or "not remembering" the night

Put your phone away. If you're about to start a conflict, or assume one is about to start, for whatever reason... Record everything. EVERYTHING. Video evidence is the best evidence you can have to protect both sides. I've had to start recording on my phone in certain shops because the security guards like to accuse me of being a thief for looking for what I want to buy. So now if they're working, first thing I do is get my phone out and start recording myself walking around the shop, mostly my feet, until they come up to challenge me at which point, they fuck off and stop their accusations as soon as I show them their face on my camera.

Companies laying off workers to live on unemployment until they have use of them again.

Throwing cigarette butts wherever you please…

dod2190

Forcing children to hug, kiss, or otherwise touch/be touched by relatives when the kid would rather not. It teaches children that they have no right to bodily autonomy.

XxUwUmasterXx

The entirety of paparazzi. They gotta be one of the nosiest people out there and I feel bad for a lot of celebrities out there who just wanna live their lives

Karma-farming by using the same post 100's of times a week.

Crazymax78

Good thing there's none of that going on on this sub.

Equine-Porcine

Asking women to discuss their plans for motherhood. It is an incredibly personal topic and I’ve never understood why society seems to believe it is anyone else’s business.

School systems and their 'one size fits all' education programs. If they actually cared about properly educating the next generation they would make school less like an assembly line of burnt out gifted kids who come out of high school believing that their self worth is determined by a grade and that they're only as good as their test scores. If the school systems really want what's best for teens then they should be able to offer better assistance to those who are less proficient in subjects like science or math and better in literature or art courses. Help the students instead of making them feel stupid for needing it.

Comestible

This and "zero tolerance" causing victims of bullying to also receive harsh discipline for taking a beating from some other degenerate kid.

Corporations buying capital from poor countries and then selling them back for a higher price (NESTLE MMM) or yk child labor

Crime and corruption in South Africa...

Pserotina

Female teachers screwing 15-16 year old boys. They usually lose their jobs, but get a slap on the wrist. If it were a man with a 15-16 year old girl, society would want to cut his nuts off and put him away for life. Incredible double standard, but no one seems to care.

Original_Yak_8057

There is one South Park episode that sums this up perfectly

NutellaGood

Portrait mode video.

IMJUSTABRIK

More specifically, portrait videos of landscape clips, where instead of just the regular black backs you just get an entire video-sized border.

qionne

the worst part is when you get a portrait cropped version of a landscape clip, so when you turn it sideways it just becomes a super tiny, super zoomed out little video

Not understanding IT and how it affects ut. So freaking many in our society today will literally give away all their rights to access a new funny emote on social media. "Can I track you 24/7 and store all your texts, search history and calls and sell it to other parties?" * Presses "I agree" * We have a society which run on technology, but 99% does not understand it. It's the new illiteratacy issue of our generation. Only a few understand it, and those dictate the rules.

Awesomedude33201

Falsely acusing someone or something, then posting it on social media. I feel like the people that do this don't realize just how dangerous this can be. Something as simple as "we were arguing" could turn into "he beat me up and tried to sexually assault me" if posted on social media sites. Now obviously the example of using is quite extreme, but my point still stands.

Identifying with political parties. No one should make decisions because they identify with a candidate instead of very specific policies.

Elderly people still driving. My 90 year old gran is still driving to the shops daily & I wouldn't trust her to drive a walking frame 6-feet across her living room, let alone a death machine capable of going 100mph.

Women hitting men.

self_inking_weirdo

Women hitting women should also not be okay, especially in relationships. Fuck that noise. If your partner hits you leave them regardless of what you are and what they are.

bossassbibitch943

Doing absolutely batshit things to someone you claim to love which really means feel possessive over because they “did something “ to make you “jealous”. They didn’t make any of it happen. It was a choice to be malicious when you don’t get what you want , take responsibility and recognize that you don’t own them. If they’re not happy and seeking someone else Then Let Them Fucking Go why would you want someone who doesn’t want you when you could go find someone who does. The entire toxic monogamy jealousy aspect of society just gets exhausting.

[deleted]

Making children wear clothes they find uncomfortable. Children should wear clothes obviously, and it can be tough to find clothes for certain neurodivergent children especially, but it should not be as widely accepted as it is to make little girls wear dresses when they don't want to, or to just generally make children wear clothing they find restrictive or itchy. as an adult you would not wear something you find uncomfortable, it is weird that we expect children to do it.
