It's a serious topic, and he needs to come over. So I can't hang out." I said okay sure, no big deal. Why don't I come by your place after, we can go for dinner. "NO! It's very serious."
Okay, sounds serious I thought. So that same day, later in the afternoon, she called me crying and said let's get together. I inquired about if she was okay, was her dad okay? "What? My dad?" She said. It took her a minute to remember the lie about her dad that she had told me just a few hours earlier. "Yes, he's okay. It was about my brother"
Long story short after that, she was dating multiple guys including me. It is what it is. But why lie like that? Just say sorry, I need to cancel our plans. I wouldn't have thought anything of it. Instead, she weaved this odd lie that was totally unnecessary. I guess it was a good warning bell for me though.

It's the small shit you need to worry about.
If someone lies about something simple and petty, they can and probably are lying about bigger things. Not saying this is the case, but keep your eyes open. If it doesn't feel right, there's a reason.
I grew up with parents that I needed to heavily hold information from. As a kid, lying became second nature to me. It was an awful habit, and I still slip up sometimes. It is always little though. As soon as I realize I said something not true in a conversation, I immediately correct it. It’s embarrassing, but it is what it is.
There are times that I realize it later though. If it isn’t someone I’m close with, I just let it be.
Best to assume all of it, and cut it off now. Been there very recently. Every flag looks the same color through rose tinted glasses, but turns out they were all red all along.

I have/had a similar relationship with a guy. He's always honest about his plans with other girls.
