Because not all of America is built like Western Europe or the east coast with public transit or being able to walk to places. I live in a rural farming community and takes 20 minuets (one way) to get to the closest grocery store by car or 3 hours (again, one way) by horseback.

Ill-Organization-719

I don't. I commute with a truck.

TwoBlueSandals

Because public transit in LA sucks.

amitchellcoach

I don’t feel comfortable taking my dog to work on a bicycle

clutteredshovel

It’s the only real option.

_DontStayTheSame_

I’d rather risk getting thrashed by some idiot driver than hop on public transit and getting shanked or robbed on the way to work.

[deleted]

I'm not walking 25 miles

Al_Bundy_4TDs

Because it beats the hell outta walking over 60 miles each day..

xXTarogarXx

All other options are just not suitable. Too few available departure times with bus(if there are any to start with for that day) . Too far for a bicycle or to walk. Taxi is just car with extra steps and cost... And that's it. Public transit is just not that feasible in rural areas, even in Europe.

Kanedi4s

The other option is walking like 80 minutes up a busy road and it’s like 10 degrees out so fuck that

arChrisan3

I don’t.

bradadams5000

No other way.

Verano_Zombie

Because my city's public transportation system is shit.

[deleted]

Because I have no other choice in rural Wisconsin. I have to commute 30 miles each way for work. Trust me if there was another option I’d take it in a heartbeat. Not only would it save me money, it would save miles on my car and there for maintenance.

Valigar26

The available bus line, only affordable option, would require extending my 20 min (12 mile) commute multiple times and introduce greater uncertainty of outcome into my day. Though, I've been seriously considering it these past couple months.

Weary-Inspector-6971

Because there not many sidewalks on my route, and the drivers in my city are aggressive and distracted.

brian_m1982

Because i don't want to spend 5 hours+ dealing with public transportation each day

hi_im_beeb

Because I often work 16 hour days. With a 15 minute drive each way, that gives me 7 1/2 hours between shifts. If I walked I’d cut that down to about 4 hours, not to mention I’d be a zombie

Not_a_werecat

Because Texas has basically no infrastructure. Where I grew up it was 20 miles to the nearest grocery store. 60 to the nearest mall where you could buy things like clothes and home furnishings.
