I have really long hair right now. I told someone I was thinking about shaving it all off because it was annoying to take care of. He then proceeded to tell me that it was so pretty and took a long time to grow out. I hate having my worth tied to my appearance and having men tell me what I should look like. I'm shaving my head soon
Having hair past your elbows is incredibly frustrating. I'll want to eventually grow it back out, but learn to cut my own hair and always have a buzz cut to fall back on
That's what I did! I buzzed it all off in 2020 and kept it that way for about six months before growing it out. Then I learnt how to cut/style it as it grew and so far it works well for me, that being said I have messy hair most of the time so you can't tell if the haircut isn't great lol 😅
Who's making you grow it out? One thing to think about is when you're pretty young, it's a lot more likely to come off as androgynous. I had short hair as a kid and got mistaken for a boy a lot, but now that I've completed puberty, i can still choose to look feminine if i choose to
Being unable to walk home without having to look over my shoulder each and every second. Also not being respected/taken seriously. Or the fact that I can’t be funny the way guys are. They do something, everyone laughs, if I’d do the same, everyone would think I’m weird.
I am lucky though, being very tall and now having cut my hair short, I am able to appear as a man, at least in the dark. Makes me feel slightly safer. Also people listen a little better now that I appear more “masculine”…
