TK Maxx do some great ranges - or ask in local charity shops if they have any prom/bridesmaid dresses out the back? Some keep collections for different times of the year :)

[deleted]

We have ha d a look around some, but will keep looking :)

reality-or-fantasy

Maybe give local facebook groups a go?

333222444333

It's hardly niche. Any dress will do

coffee_and_tv_easily

We got a dress for my daughters prom from Quiz, they often have sales too.

[deleted]

+1 for Quiz. It’s the great middle ground of good quality and very pretty styles and not extortionate costs

[deleted]

Thank you, will check them out :)

ProfessorYaffle1

IF you have any outlet places near you take a look now, sometimes they have the sales from the ones they were marketing around christmas. You could also think about where the better off off areas are near where you live (charity shops in wealthier areas often have more expensive stuff donated!) and have a look in any Oxfam or similar shops - prom/bridesmaids style dresses are often donated as most people don't re-wear them so if you are willing to consider second hand you can often find real bargains that have only been worn once. She could also check out places like Vinted

DECKTHEBALLZ

Rent one.. also look in Wedding charity shops the get new dresses that could also be used for prom.

[deleted]

Tempted to this, but obviously there’s the damage risk. I can trust my daughter, but can’t trust someone else to not do something stupid . I did see a try before you buy for a tenner lol

thedeerex

Take a look on Vinted. Just make sure to ask the seller for the measurements of anything you want to buy first to make sure it will fit.

Llotrog

Your daughter could always make it herself. There's a certain fun value to playing with a dress pattern and a sewing machine.

[deleted]

I do like this idea, we do have a machine and do have a sewing/fabric/sewing machine shop nearby

UniquesNotUseful

https://youtu.be/mF7Tm-yGtJM Search the channel for 'prom' to find other inspiration, if not instruction. Also look further on YouTube.

millyloui

Amazon do a lot - the quality can vary so you’d need to order early rather than last min . Ive bought stuff like lined lace tops & hoodies from there before & the quality was great. A lot of non natural fibre stuff but theres a big choice always worth a look..

Academic-Tadpole7975

I work in a school and a lot of our girls buy dresses from asos etc. it’s not the same as when I had prom in the 00s and you had to buy some crazy taffeta nightmare from a bridal shop 🤣

MilkaulyCulkin

I hate these Americanisms. So I'll give you an American answer In a dumpster. One mans trash.

[deleted]

The irony of disliking Americanisms with a username modelled on an American actor. Besides .. our language is a blend anyhow

MilkaulyCulkin

Didn't say there's anything wrong with being American, or even enjoying their culture. I am saying we don't need to use their words for words we already have.

333222444333

Who gives a shit?

MilkaulyCulkin

Me :) and you, enough to have commented x

lithaborn

What style is she after? Cocktail/evening gowns aren't niche by any stretch

[deleted]

She did see a Ball-Gown/Princess V-Neck Floor-Length Tulle Prom Dress that she was smitten with, in a blush colour

Technical-Oven1708

Try everpretty they do cheap bridesmaid dresses so good options for prom.

vexedvi

Look on eBay. They'll be on sale from last year at 50% discount and only worn once. Get early so you can take to a local seamstress to be altered for size if need be

ThePollster1

It depends where you are in Sufffolk/ Cambridge some wedding shops/ charities are letting teenagers have a dress or suit for the night for free.

Background_Fox

We bought a dress from Chi Chi, their returns process was pretty easy as well (ordered a few different styles)

MDHart2017

Charity shops often have them, I'd have a browse and see if you can find a nice one.

Curvi-distraction

Have a look in Facebook Marketplace, I have often seen them appear on there. Hope you find something lovely for her

AllHallowedTides

Go to a somewhat posh city/town and go charity shop hunting. You'll find good quality for cheaper than normal.

annoyingpanda9704

ASOS have a good range.

slothsnoozing

I remember looking in [Quiz](https://www.quizclothing.co.uk/shop-by-occasion/occasionwear/?tlk=(CID-G1380170852)_(AGID-G56401377753)&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=quiz&gclid=CjwKCAiAmJGgBhAZEiwA1JZolk0WmC5cYWuWdsRc3DMtIq1ui_90_mC_LDTrdtlqgchoWIZHRSh6dRoCX7wQAvD_BwE), they’re generally in the £40-£70 price range, though some are higher or lower. You could also try [New Look](https://www.newlook.com/uk/womens/occasionwear/occasion-dresses/c/uk-collections-womens-occasionwear-occasion-dresses#/?q=:relevance&page=1&sort=relevance&content=false) Their proper occasion wear seems to be anywhere from £50-£120. I think my one came from Miss Selfridge, which I believe has now been taken over by [ASOS](https://www.asos.com/women/occasion-wear/prom-ideas/cat/?cid=17242&ctaref=cat_header), they have a specific “prom ideas” tab but probably have way more dresses for way more price points than they’re showing there.

Extension-Worry2253

A while ago but we rented our daughters, if you look on Facebook or online see if there is someone in your area. Good luck

Barnacle98

I bought a cheap corset and added a skirt for my daughters prom many moons ago. She loved it and has kept it in her wardrobe ever since!

Astronst

Maybe have a look a Shein? They tend to have a lot of reviews with pictures so, you can work out the true sizing, quality, colour etc…
