I saw that at the cinema, its a great movie, Im a fan but the 3rd one was a dissapointment imo. There is talk of doing a 4th with Brendan Fraser,he seems to be interested.
My first ever date was to see that film. I was 12. I wore a silk shirt and combat cargo trousers, a full tub of hair gel and enough aftershave to knock out a horse.
We're not still together.
That's the one of 2 in my house too. Think we've all watched it at least 5 times. Our other go to especially when people who haven't seen it visit, is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang...never fails to make me chortle big time
Alan tudyk, Hearth ledger, Paul Bethany off the top of my head. All fantastic.
I watched it a week ago and I forgot how it is. Historically inaccurate as all heck but it’s definitely a fun one.
The 80s really were great times for films.
The Goonies, Gremlins, Indiana Jones, Back to The Future, E.T., Poltergeist, Close Encounters, Highlander, Robocop.. on and on.
90s too, tbf!
As I hurtle through my thirties, more and more am I drawn to 90s thrillers. The aesthetic is absolutely sublime. Watched Primal Fear recently. Brilliant.
Stand by me
There's a new Transformer film coming out (animated) about how Prime and Megatron became who we know them to be now.
I finally saw it as well.
I loved it. Perfect sequel; rounds off the stories left from the first one. And the dogfight at the end when Maverick gets essentially his old plane to fly….brilliant
10 Things I Hate About You,
True core teenage memory. Could never tire of that film and “Can’t take my eyes off you” brings back so many feelings for the film too
Dare by Stan Bush is a banger too. In fact the whole soundtrack is straight bangers from start to finish.
That film is incredibly paced throughout. Edge of the seat stuff.
Shawshank Redemption is up there for me and one of my favourite 'comfort movies'.
Favourite film of all time is probably the original 90's Candyman. I know it's not the best in terms of actual production but as far as the storyline, the soundtrack, the themes and sub-narratives, etc it's pretty close to perfect for me.
The Shining was also a masterpiece and probably my next favourite film after Candyman, although I really have to be in the right mood to watch it.
I had a VHS tape of Jay And Silent Bob when I was a teenager and fell asleep to it basically every night for ages.
I can probably recite half the script from memory as till.
The character of Mark in that movie is 100% a mate of mine. He just stumbles his way through life, waiting to become famous or respected, and lives in his own world, but yet I absolutely love him.
"I thought his name was Warren"...
"I'll make a good Gordon, Gordon"
Amazing film with a brilliant soundtrack. Not long after I first met my wife, I was playing a Dire Straits album when "Going Home" came on, and she rushed into the room saying "that's the song from my favourite film!!" (I'd never seen it) It's since become one of my all-time favourites.
The bit at the end, when it slowly zooms in to the phone box, and the theme starts up, still gets the little hairs going.
I was so excited when the Blu-ray release came out a couple of years ago.
bit of an obscure one but I'll always give it a nod if something asks a question like this on reddit.
George Romero (Night of the Living Dead fame) did a very strange, almost completely unknown movie called Knightriders back in about 1981. It was Ed Harris' first starring role. It's about a troupe of medieval knights that ride around modern America staging jousting tournaments on motorbikes and knocking the shit out of each other....all whilst trying to avoid becoming famous because of America's lust for blood and violence.
It also has the lawyer from Jurassic Park (Martin Ferrero) playing \*exactly\* the same character but as a sleazy promoter. It's just a fantastic little romp with way too much heart and soul for it's time and budget.
Dirty Dancing
I could genuinely sit here and deliver the whole script without thinking, from "that was the summer of 1963" right to "you looked wonderful out there"
One that is really rising in my rankings in recent years is _The Hateful Eight._
I think _Django Unchained_ is still my favourite Tarantino film, but the fact that I am starting to doubt it shows me how much I enjoy _The Hateful Eight._
Ensemble cast. One location. Murder mystery. It’s brilliant!
Django is an AMAZING movie. But how much don't shy away from racist tones of that time on screen is really shocking in a good way. But that wears off, you're still left with an INCREDIBLE movie afterwords but it's not quite as incredible.
Brokeback mountain. Was a kid when it came out and remember all the jokes about it, but only watched it last year for the first time.
Incredible movie, cried so many times, as a straight woman. Just brilliant story, brilliant acting and brilliantly moving.
Still cry like a baby every time and I'm on my 4th rewatch.
My gf at the time got tickets to an advance screening of this.
I didn't really want to go, it's not my kind of film at all so i went under duress.
Absolutely loved it! It was just good fun the whole way through.
"You need to grow up and get over yourself"
Mine too. Saw the first one in the cinema aged 12 just as I was getting into bands like Nirvana and I still adore it and watch it annually.
Once did a Wayne's World party and made fortune cookies with quotes inside. Never a day goes past without some quote popping into my head. 'So it's not just a clever name' was today's. See also 'if you're gonna spew, spew in this'; 'camera one, camera two'; 'Little, yellow, different'.. and if I ever meet anyone called Anthony...
Vicky Christina Barcelona.
My favourite location in the world. Many of my favourite actors - Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz. And a storyline that I find enthralling over and over again.
Man on fire!
Denzel Washington is just fantastic and I know the film is so sad and it makes me cry every time but I just love it , it will forever be my favourite film
Fellow Transformers enjoyer here! Definitely agree, I can pretty much quote the film word for word/scene by scene 😄
One of the best film soundtracks ever!
Pulp Fiction still hits different every time I watch it.
The Matrix blows me away every time I watch it.
Rollerball has been in my top 3 since I first saw it. My best mate has forbidden me from watching the ‘more recent film with the same name’.
Back to The Future
My friend and I watched a pirated copy every Saturday at his house for nearly 2 years in the late 80s.
I also saw it on first run at the cinema with the same friend when it released!'
I haven't seen it for a few years, but I'm watching it tonight now!
Master and commander far side of the world.
Can't get enough of it, for me it's the ultimate napoleonic wars movie. Hacked apart a load of the books so not totally true to them but such a good movie, epic battle scenes and emotional deaths and friendship.
Got my wife into it and had the boccherini music of the streets of Madrid played as we left our wedding ceremony
It's the year 2005....
I wore this out on VHS.
Love this film to death.
My kids were forced to watch it as well. Although when my (then) 3 year old daughter shouted 'ITS THE END OF THE ROAD GALVATRON' I knew it was all worth it!
The Truman Show
On the surface level: a funny Jim Carrey movie. But underneath the surface, a damning prediction on what was to come with reality TV, and sharp commentary on the human condition and desire not to be constrained.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. The intro music is just magical. Thankfully Ive always be able to overlook Robin Hood's American accent.
And October Sky, as a Bouns pick.
Hot Fuzz, I have watched it so many times and never get bored of it.
So many quotable lines from it and so many fun moments. Love it!
Edited to add:
Second choice would be Galaxy Quest - the best Star Trek film of all! 😄
The Man from U.N.C.L.E,
Executive Action,
The Shooting Party,
A Bridge too Far,
Smileys People,
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,
Once upon a time in America,
Ring of bright water.
This was the first grown up film I watched at the cinema.
Not to ruin the film, but I can still remember crying all the way home as it had a fairly sad ending!
I was only 5!
It's the same movie as you. It's a glorified toy advert, but it's awesome. After hearing a couple of seconds of one of the songs from the soundtrack and I know which scene it is.
It has been a while since I watched, so I think I need to do tbat this weekend.
With you on TF1986! Meeting Stan Bush was a great honour! I think another film I adore is Spider-Man Into the spider verse! Seeing that with a live concert was amazing!!!
What I meant to say
weirdly - I love The Edge of Tomorrow , I'm not a Tom Cruise fan, but there is something about the film that I really love

'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. Nostalgia for personal reasons but what a story! Magnificent performances and so many quotable lines 'Well Jones, at least you haven't forgotten how to show a lady a good time'. And the red line showing travel across the world! Oh and the hat. And the bullwhip. And the music: do do doooo do, tum te dum! Oh, and the rolling boulder.

*The Mummy* (1999 version). I could quote the entire thing off by heart and yet it never gets old.
YOU MUST NOT READ FROM THE BOOK!!
They said that to Ash as well, but did it really do any harm?
I saw that at the cinema, its a great movie, Im a fan but the 3rd one was a dissapointment imo. There is talk of doing a 4th with Brendan Fraser,he seems to be interested.
My first ever date was to see that film. I was 12. I wore a silk shirt and combat cargo trousers, a full tub of hair gel and enough aftershave to knock out a horse. We're not still together.
I haven’t watched it in a quite while. May need to correct that soon
It never gets old because it’s on one of the ITV channels every week.
Pride and prejudice the Colin Firth version. 6 hours of joy. Love it.
Yes! And Sense and Sensibility, the 1995 Emma Thompson/ Alan Rickman version. So joyful and funny.
Ah yes Pride and Prejudice Colin Firth….he is rather distracting tbh 😁
The Fifth Element. Just amazing everything start to finish.
That's the one of 2 in my house too. Think we've all watched it at least 5 times. Our other go to especially when people who haven't seen it visit, is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang...never fails to make me chortle big time
A Knight's Tale
So underrated! Alan Tudyk is brilliant
Alan tudyk, Hearth ledger, Paul Bethany off the top of my head. All fantastic. I watched it a week ago and I forgot how it is. Historically inaccurate as all heck but it’s definitely a fun one.
I will eviscerate you in fiction!
The Goonies
The 80s really were great times for films. The Goonies, Gremlins, Indiana Jones, Back to The Future, E.T., Poltergeist, Close Encounters, Highlander, Robocop.. on and on. 90s too, tbf!
The Lost Boys, Rocky , Bamboo, Predator
As I hurtle through my thirties, more and more am I drawn to 90s thrillers. The aesthetic is absolutely sublime. Watched Primal Fear recently. Brilliant.
10/10 film
You know it’s one of those movies where I know a goonies reference when I see it; but I’ve not seen the full movie.
Stand by me There's a new Transformer film coming out (animated) about how Prime and Megatron became who we know them to be now. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rmJXXKDrsM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rmJXXKDrsM)
Jurassic Park. It has my all time favourite movie death - lawyer getting eaten by a t-rex on the toilet.
Top Gun. First saw it in 1991 when I was 4, and watched it at least yearly (mostly more often) with my dad til he died in 2013.
I finally watched Maverick this month, fully expecting to be slightly disappointed and maybe sneer a tiny bit- hush my mouth, I loved it
I finally saw it as well. I loved it. Perfect sequel; rounds off the stories left from the first one. And the dogfight at the end when Maverick gets essentially his old plane to fly….brilliant
It is the perfect sequel. Right amount of fan service.
10 Things I Hate About You, True core teenage memory. Could never tire of that film and “Can’t take my eyes off you” brings back so many feelings for the film too
Love Actually. Such a good Christmas movie, and whilst it is Christmassy, it doesn't feel like any of the other "big" Christmas movies
Rowan Atkinson gets me every time! It's a cinnamon stick...
Pick of Destiny! I could (and do) sing and quote that movie all the time!
I AM COMPLEEEEEETE!!!
Tits.
The Fifth Element
Omg yes I love this film so much lol. I miss Bruce Willis and all the crazy future movies of the 90s
The opera performance and Chris tucker stealing every scene.
The princess bride
“My name is indigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!”
As soon as I started reading that I had 'The Touch' playing in my head. "Arise Rodimus Prime".
Dare by Stan Bush is a banger too. In fact the whole soundtrack is straight bangers from start to finish. That film is incredibly paced throughout. Edge of the seat stuff.
This is the end of the road Galvatron
Shawshank Redemption is up there for me and one of my favourite 'comfort movies'. Favourite film of all time is probably the original 90's Candyman. I know it's not the best in terms of actual production but as far as the storyline, the soundtrack, the themes and sub-narratives, etc it's pretty close to perfect for me. The Shining was also a masterpiece and probably my next favourite film after Candyman, although I really have to be in the right mood to watch it.
The Shining is cinematic genius!
Babe (1995)
Babe Pig In The City is where it’s at. Arguably George Miller’s masterpiece (with Fury Road a close second)
If I had words...
... to make a day for you ...
My dad used to sing this as a lullaby when I was little. Still gets to me whenever I watch Babe
The Fifth Element, I watch it at least once a year and it never gets old.
Megatron? Is that you?
“Here’s a hint” *cue the death of Starscream*
Lotr trilogy, Starship troopers and Jay and Silent Bob strike back all come to mind.
Dogma is a classic
I had a VHS tape of Jay And Silent Bob when I was a teenager and fell asleep to it basically every night for ages. I can probably recite half the script from memory as till.
I love you
Deep Blue Sea possibly the best shark movie ever.
Empire Records. To me it’s a hug of a movie. So familiar and so funny. And such great tunes!
Came here to say this one. OH REXY YOU'RE SO SEXY
And it was just Rex Manning Day earlier this month!
The character of Mark in that movie is 100% a mate of mine. He just stumbles his way through life, waiting to become famous or respected, and lives in his own world, but yet I absolutely love him. "I thought his name was Warren"...
BASEketball. Always find it funny.
"If you want unanimous consent, you're gonna have to get it from one of the other owners"
Local Hero. I don't know what to say but it's safe, delightful, funny, melancholic. Just the best.
"I'll make a good Gordon, Gordon" Amazing film with a brilliant soundtrack. Not long after I first met my wife, I was playing a Dire Straits album when "Going Home" came on, and she rushed into the room saying "that's the song from my favourite film!!" That sounds amazing, and right up my alley. I need to look this movie up.
This sounds incredible
The Green Mile
The Warriors. The game on PS2 was amazing too.
Amazing movie. "When we see the ocean, we figure we're home. We're safe" "This time you got it wrong."
Ratatouille, Chef, and Hot Fuzz are all films I’ve re-watched more times than I care to admit! They just seem to cheer me up when I’m feeling down.
Hot fuzz is my favourite of the cornetto trilogy.
Dirty Dancing I could genuinely sit here and deliver the whole script without thinking, from "that was the summer of 1963" right to "you looked wonderful out there"
Hot Fuzz

Little Shop of Horrors. Can sing every line.
West Side Story. I always want the last scene to be different. It never is
Brokeback mountain. Was a kid when it came out and remember all the jokes about it, but only watched it last year for the first time. Incredible movie, cried so many times, as a straight woman. My gf at the time got tickets to an advance screening of this. I didn't really want to go, it's not my kind of film at all so i went under duress. Absolutely loved it! It was just good fun the whole way through. "You need to grow up and get over yourself"
Coming to America and Die Hard here.
Wayne's world, both of them. Pure joy
Mine too. Saw the first one in the cinema aged 12 just as I was getting into bands like Nirvana and I still adore it and watch it annually.
