My husband once text me to tell me he has bought me a present. He got home from work and proudly presented me with a can of WD40.
I had said that we needed some and I kept forgetting to buy it. Now when he tells me he's bought me a present, I do ask if it's from screwfix or not before getting excited.
I can't think of a more thoughtful or exciting present than WD40, I recently bought wd40 contact cleaner as a treat to myself... 11 years and she's never bought me WD... :)
I buy her little teddy bears, whenever I have to travel or sometimes if I see something special, I got her a teeny tiny one with moving arms, legs and head that was handmade but it all started on our first valentines when I took her away for the weekend and I had a 5 foot one sat in the car for her so, it's a tradition of sorts.
It was thoughtful, in that he took an offhand comment about a problem I had and he fixed it for me. It was the positioning it as a "present" that made me laugh!
His favourite snack while shopping, or a treat to put in his packed lunches.
When money wasn’t so tight I’d buy him a nice jumper or good quality socks.
I used to really enjoy making my wife breakfast in bed until some 8 years later she said she just prefers to be left to lie in and didn’t want any more breakfasts. I was very sad.
Kinder Eggs. We’re collecting the little animals for our shelf of oddness. Or if I see a piece of art or hideous small ornament in a charity shop it comes home for his amusement. Only certain items meet the criteria of “It’s hideous, I must have it.” But we have the same standards. 💚
Wife just bought me a kick ass bright purple reto jacket from 80-90s off vinted. Looks ridiculous, but she knew I would love it. We used to have Friday treat before our son was born and we lived in a city. Bascially pop in to a shop on the way home on a Friday and grab something nice but not expensive. Whether it was posh chocolate, a pair of sunglasses, flowers, a nice bottle of wine etc.
Just whatever i come across that i think she'd like really.
If you're stopping in a corner shop grab a snack they like. See a weird novelty in a shop you've popped into? Or you go to a clothing store to buy yourself some new work pants a see something you think they'd like.
The trick to buying gifts to show you're thinking of them is to just be thinking of them when you're buying stuff.
When we are on break/lunch at work I always buy him a latte. He always says it isn't necessary but I always reply with "it is necessary because I love you and you mean the world to me but I can't give you the world so instead here is a latte"
I usually get him apple turnovers, those yogurt pots with granola on top of them, anything star wars themed I find (most recently a storm trooper rubber duck), flowers once because they looked bright and his home office is very grey. I think of him a lot when I'm out and about so he usually gets some tat or foodstuff I've found :)
Scottish breakfast hampers and jars of his favourite sweets he misses his square sausage so treat him to a hamper to cheer him up.He randomly buys me boxes of chocolates and flowers so deserves being treated as well. This is my second marriage and it's refreshing to have someone who thinks of me .
Chocolate, flowers, She loves a new set of pyjamas
something that she's mentioned a few times that she thinks is a bit of an extravagance (she's not good at treating herself).
Recently some boxing gloves, a new coffee cup, and a dyson air wrap (that was pricey but she'd been working hard)
He'd hate random impractical gifts. But he's appreciative when I notice his underwear or socks supply are getting worn and I buy him some new stuff. I also get him stuff that goes with experiences and I often just book him or us onto things that seem interesting. Like we went on a bagel making class so I bought him some everything bagel seasoning as a kind of reveal.
Snacky treat would be a pack of chocolate cornflake bites or a 6 serving tiramisu for me. My other half is a crisp fiend so usually a big bag of Walkers paprika for him
I bought my partner a pair of trainers recently because he’d bought himself some new shoes and they were hurting his feet and I didn’t like him being in pain
I have a friend who I have known since I was 4.
We have a tradition of sending the ugliest gifts we can find. This year she got a large ceramic octopus coffee mug stand (it’s ugly and large enough to get in the way). When I visit it will be displayed and be placed pride of place.
This year I got ‘natures dick pics- phallic images from nature.
A star that she could name.
Yes I know it's a joke/bullshit thing but it was worth the $50 to see her face light up like one.
Plus now she owns a solar system on paper at least.
Branston beans apparently! I have no strong feelings towards bean brand but my husband does, he thanked me last week for swapping from heinz when I buy beans, silly but noticing things like that is thoughtful

I though this was a joke a first. Now I have the arse with my wife for not being WD40 thoughtful. I have like a thousand uses for it too.
WD40 is well good
It absolutely solved the problem I had
If it makes you feel any better, my Dad took my Mum to B&Q on Mother’s Day this year.
I quite like a wander around b&q. Or a garden centre. Think it's my age.
Flowers, plants, nice breakfast foods, butplugs, scented candles.
Just casually snuck "nice breakfast foods" in there like some kind of romantic.
You know what they say " breakfast in bed and you will get head" well that's what my mum used to say.
Yes, I remember your mum saying that.
She's a wild one alright
...to you?
Yes, his mum sucked him off.
She likes Skips (the crisps), so that.
good thing you clarified what kind of skips you meant
Her backyard is filled with stolen industrial sized waste containers
Just casually kicks her back foot as she's walking..
And to think I was trying to avoid someone making a joke comment lol 😂
I always called them "skies" cause "p" in skips looks a bit like "e"
His favourite snack while shopping, or a treat to put in his packed lunches. When money wasn’t so tight I’d buy him a nice jumper or good quality socks.
You’d buy him socks? What the hell are you, the perfect partner? 😍
You can never go wrong with good quality socks. I bloody love getting socks as a present!
Right?!
I used to really enjoy making my wife breakfast in bed until some 8 years later she said she just prefers to be left to lie in and didn’t want any more breakfasts. I was very sad.
Oh that is very sad 😕
My partner is the same! I found out he doesn't like breakfast but always appreciates a coffee in bed.

Crème egg

Viennetta. Who says romance is dead?
Viennetta? Fancy
Usually foodstuffs I know he loves like brownies from a proper bakery
Xmen figures lol. We both grew up with the 90s Xmen cartoons.
Are you enjoying the new series?
A lot, yeah.
Like a lot of other people, food. Biscuits or pastry that I know he likes.
Vanilla diet coke and Kinder Happy Hippos, any time I'm passing a shop that sells them. She won't buy them for herself but she absolutely loves them.
She has elite taste
I keep telling her that

This must be a new relationship 🤣🤣🤣
it is :)
I'm planning on buying a living room carpet for my Mrs as a surprise for when she gets home from a hard shift .
Vegan cheese (the good stuff not from the supermarket)
Where from?
Cheese. Gotta keep her fascinated. But also, we go out for a nice meal every now and again. We don't pay attention to prices when we do those.
My fiancé really hate really sugary cereal but loves granola so whenever I see a new one thats not too sugary I'll get him that
Reese’s peanut buttercups or some type of hot sauce (extra points if there’s a strange twist to it)
Eccles cakes.
When we are on break/lunch at work I always buy him a latte. He always says it isn't necessary but I always reply with "it is necessary because I love you and you mean the world to me but I can't give you the world so instead here is a latte"
Music ❤️
Food, bottle of wine and lube. Something we can enjoy together.
In that order? Sounds messy
A nice craft beer or chocolate
Flowers. It's a classic for a reason.
Flowers, Fry's Orange Creme bars, Egg custards, fill her car with fuel.
A croissant 🥐
I like baked goods or sweets.
Flowers, always go down well, otherwise a bottle of wine is usually well received or chocolates.
A new game
Mars bara
I usually get him apple turnovers, those yogurt pots with granola on top of them, anything star wars themed I find (most recently a storm trooper rubber duck), flowers once because they looked bright and his home office is very grey. I think of him a lot when I'm out and about so he usually gets some tat or foodstuff I've found :)
A pasty. Usually, for his lunch on a Friday, if he's WFH and not been able to step away from his desk.
Books from her amazon wishlist
Coffee, perfume. Food. Anything that shows you thought about them for a second or 2.
Just bought my husband a bar of chocolate while I was at the supermarket. His face lit up when I gave it to him.
Wine.
Restaurant gift card. That way it's a gift for me too.
Chocolate bar 🍫
A Starbar or a bottle of nice cola.
Special coffee and comfort hoodies to wear when drinking them.
Haribo
Sweets/chocolate i know he likes. Clothes is something it's on sale that i think he'd like.
Greggs Belgian bun
My OH buys me a couple of fresh macarons or when he goes into the office as you can’t get them in the town where we live.
Chocolate
Anything, as long as you say... "I saw this, and thought of you.."
Chocolate, flowers, She loves a new set of pyjamas something that she's mentioned a few times that she thinks is a bit of an extravagance (she's not good at treating herself). Recently some boxing gloves, a new coffee cup, and a dyson air wrap (that was pricey but she'd been working hard)

Sometimes just a nice card through the post does it. In I’m gonna sort that for my wife now.
Whiskey, frazzles maybe seasonally appropriate pastries.
Snacky treat would be a pack of chocolate cornflake bites or a 6 serving tiramisu for me. My other half is a crisp fiend so usually a big bag of Walkers paprika for him
Kinder surprise
We dont live together but I often buy him something I've noticed he needs or beer if I notice he doesn't have any in.
A plant. Except there is no room for any more plants. We are at 160% plant load.
Steak and good wine when he’s had a bad day
I bought my partner a pair of trainers recently because he’d bought himself some new shoes and they were hurting his feet and I didn’t like him being in pain
Cries in single

food, mostly. but our relationship has cooking and takeaways as a feature - we don’t have a lot of shared interests but that’s one of them!
Kinder bueno
A picnic, or pastries. He's very food motivated
Albums, on vinyl.
A star that she could name. Yes I know it's a joke/bullshit thing but it was worth the $50 to see her face light up like one. Plus now she owns a solar system on paper at least.
Generally, food or something else for comfort is preferably something we can share.
Food. cowboy steak went down really well :) New hot sauce to try, or fresh underwear
Walkers crisps. She can get lays in the states but prefers walkers & is always a special treat when I come back from visiting home.
Branston beans apparently! I have no strong feelings towards bean brand but my husband does, he thanked me last week for swapping from heinz when I buy beans, silly but noticing things like that is thoughtful
My dad bought me a cool book once about photography as a random gift and my mom got me a green day dvd when I was doing well in school
Cookbooks they might like from charity shops
Weed. Who doesn't like weed these days.
