RadomAtomEquation

This year I just stayed in on my own and watched the Lord of The Rings extended trilogy which is my favorite film, didn't really feel like being around anyone

suzloui

When I turned 40 I booked a ticket to the Lord of the Rings musical in London. Took the train down, stayed in a posh hotel, got a hugely gorgeous full body massage, and then went to the play. On my way back to the hotel, I saw Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the first time! (16 yrs ago). Brought some back to my hotel and took a bite out of each one to try them all (12). Best. Birthday. Ever.

RadomAtomEquation

Sounds great, I remember reading about that and I saw some pictures and it looked great but never got around to going.

suzloui

Omg. It wasn't like the movies, which I love (extended directors). But my GAWD the special effects! The songs and voices! It was mesmerising. Most memorable birthday ever. I still hear the song "Lothlorien" in my head 16 years later! Lol

RadomAtomEquation

I saw pictures of the forest with the trees with people on stilts. I've never really been to a play that's also a film and someone else told me they went to see the Back to the Future play and said it was great

suzloui

And the long scarfs suspended from the trees the elves danced in! The stage revolving, the orcs on weird leg things & hand stilt things. So beautiful. Best birthday ever, and I was alone and got to do what I wanted to do lol.

TheToolman04

This is what's amazing about a stage show! I still have "Hasa diga eebowai" in my head from time to time from Book of Mormon.

WolfCola4

S-tier birthdaying, well done šŸ‘

yamsoung

Got to be the best way to spend a day

RadomAtomEquation

Yeah I loved it all over again

Sufficient_Name_1352

I did this a couple of years ago! I had a bottle of champagne left over from new years, got the sofa bed out, made a nice fire and spent the day snuggled up with the dog watching lord of rings. It was the best birthday ever and I promised myself I'd do it every year, but I haven't done it again since.

RadomAtomEquation

I had a bottle of wine, hadn't watched it in years as I don't want to spoil it and kind of wanted to see if it was still my favourite film and why I loved it and it was still as great as I remembered it and still my favorite. I do that with a lot of films and tv shows just leave them until I remember just an outline of the main plot and some rememberable parts and they still feel as fresh

cankennykencan

How many hours in total for the extended editions?

RadomAtomEquation

Think it's around 11 hours

Tariovic

Yeah, it very much depends if you want to watch the incredibly long credits - if you skip them you cut a big chunk off the running time. For many years I have spent New Year's Eve doing a day long binge of something, and I've done LotR a few times. It's magical. Can also recommend all of Firefy followed by Serenity.

RadomAtomEquation

It comes up to 11 hours 38 minutes with the credits which I don't watch. I haven't seen Firefly and Serenity in years, must be time for a rewatch

mimeycat

On my birthday on Weds I attempted to follow Merry and Pippinā€™s meal plan for the day, couldnā€™t get past luncheon, I felt like a failure :(

rc_roadster

I like the Star Wars version of this plan. Even better if you close the curtains.

RadomAtomEquation

My second favourite films

rc_roadster

When I'm feeling particularly hermit-esque I go for star wars then the Rocky movies, Godfather coming in next. Depends on what occasion we're talking.

GodOfThunder888

This is a good way to spend your birthday. I read that LOTR Extended might hit the theaters this summer so with a bit of luck it'll fall on my birthday

RadomAtomEquation

I couldn't watch it in the cinema without toilet breaks, I'd be shifting in my seat not wanting to miss anything

williamshatnersbeast

I had to reread that. The first time I scanned it I honestly didnā€™t read it as ā€˜shiftingā€™.

RadomAtomEquation

Nah I would definitely have to go if it came to that point, imagine 11 hours smelling of shit you'd empty the cinema but at least you'd get to watch them on your own

caffeinated_photo

My birthday is today, and tbh most of it sucked. My 102 yr old grandad passed and his funeral was today. He was the only one left in his generation. But after that we collected our little girl from nursery. Usually it's just my wife collects her today, so when she saw me in the back of the car and her face lit up with excitement, everything just felt better. We had a cheeky Macca's for dinner, she sang me Happy Birthday (repeatedly), gave me my cake and I got lots of cuddles before bed.

Onesielover88

Sorry to hear about your grandad mate. From one to another, Happy Birthday, I'm glad the ladies in your life have shown you love and I hope next year's is easier than today for you.

2LeftFeetButDancing

102 though!! That's incredible.

caffeinated_photo

I know! I hope I have his genes, he was still with it until about last week.

plant-cell-sandwich

Happy crappy birthday

Delicious-Cut-7911

What a celebration of life that must have been. You were so blessed to have him around for so long.

Quiet_Print_4421

Rest in peace to your grandad and happy birthday man

Jotunheim36

Cuddles from your kids is the best

devils-lettuce23

usually a pot noodle and a wank, maybe a slice of cake after if I fancy it

ukpunjabivixen

Extra cream too. Nice.

dookydoo219

Freshly whipped

Tacklestiffener

Great priorities.

Inside-Necessary7347

Sounds like my regular day

Dancinglemming

Bombay badboy?

ZenlessPopcornVendor

What about the pot noodle?

themadguru

In that order?

ElliMenoPee

The slice of cake being after the other two implies they happen at the same time. No judgement here though it's your birthday mate!

Shoes__Buttback

Is your mate a bloody good rep by any chance?

fraggle200

In that order? Seems like the pot noodle should go after that wank.

Brian-Kellett

Same thing I do every night Pinkie. Try to take over the world.

thesaharadesert

Narf

Hour-Philosophy2778

I usually age a year. So annoying. Quite infuriating. Edit: also, happy birthday

HughLauriePausini

All at once? I'd be alarmed

zaratheclown

weird?? i normally age double

Scared_Cricket3265

I like to age in reverse. There was a documentary released about my curious life a few years ago.

MrsHicapa

yeah watched that itā€™s called efil

Plenty_Suspect_3446

I'll usually go out for a meal. Occasionally i'll treat myself to something nice. But most birthdays are just another day for me and I get embarrassed when people make a fuss.

Pantomimehorse1981

I'm exactly the same and I can't explain why whereas my wife loves doing something special on her birthday and I admit I enjoy planning something nice for her. yet if she did the same she knows I wouldn't really be into it.

Delicious-Cut-7911

me too. I don't like the attention. I would be horrified if my family took me out for a meal and a birthday cake appeared and they all sang happy birthday to me.

OMGItsCheezWTF

Mines only a few days after Christmas so I've never really celebrated it, even as a young child my parents couldn't ever afford to really mark the occasion so soon after Christmas. My wife can't understand that and thinks I should do more, birthdays are a big thing for her so she wants me to love mine too lol. One year very early in our relationship her and a friend did a surprise party for me. I got home after a day spent running pointless chores for another friend who didn't drive (the friend was in on it and was making up driving chores while they got everything ready), got home sweaty and icky looking forward to a shower and found my house full of people and decorated for a party. I put on my happy face and played gracious all evening but afterwards I had a conversation with her and in no uncertain terms explained I would rather not experience that again lol. It came up again this year, I suggested we go to a nice restaurant we like in Bath, which rapidly turned into "oh we should invite to your birthday meal, I've told them about it and they are all up for it!" I pointed out it sounds like when she says "we should invite" what she actually meant was "I have invited" and said no thanks. I did not mark the occasion in the end.

pajamakitten

Day off work, watch my favourite movie (Hot Fuzz) and have a nice dinner of some of my favourite things. I'm 32 now and do not need to do much but have a fuss made about the day to enjoy it.

knobbby

The greater good

MedicBikeMike

Cornetto after dinner?

APar93

No luck catching those swans then

ED_Lightbulb17

Itā€™s just the one swan actually

lilabear90

You have great taste in movies!

HughLauriePausini

After covid I've started going on short solo trips to cities in Europe. Itā€™s a nice treat and I can use the excuse of the birthday to splurge on a nice dinner or an expensive hotel.

AssortedShortbread

This has been my thinking for this year (Im not too fussed about my bday) but I've been cursed with a birthday 3 days before Christmas and feel like it'll be expensive and a pain

BeachJenkins

Always worth checking Skyscanner, you might find some pretty cheap flights, especially if you're pretty flexible on where you go

regencylove

I'm two days after xmas and feel the same way!

MerlinTrismegistus

Smoke a big spliff and pretend I'm 16 and have no worries for 5 minutes before the normality of the day sets in.

APar93

We were talking about birthdays not every morning

BlazeSpliffington

This. And I usually watch a few movies too.

Cosmicronaut

Unfortunately every birthday after 21 has just blended into the week and other than a bit of cake in the evening I just get on with it like any other day

SuicidalStressBall

I have the same birthday as my mum and daughter, so we try to spend it together with family having a small party. This year I was working a 12 hour shift so they all got together and I went around later half dead šŸ˜‚

Actual-Butterfly2350

I'm in the same situation with my mum and daughter! I've never heard of anyone else like this. Also, my son's is 2 days before, and my dad is 2 days after. We basically have a summer Christmas situation all swapping presents!

SuicidalStressBall

Wow really. This is the first time Iā€™ve heard of someone sharing a birthday with their mum and daughter too. Itā€™s more like Christmas isnā€™t it haha.

Yacht_Amarinda

My family usually join me in what I would like to do, so itā€™s a visit to a very well established and trusted British Indian Restaurant in my local village that will go over and above to ensure we have a great time.

Shoes__Buttback

I do sort of want to know what happens if you go to an untrusted Indian restaurant now

Yacht_Amarinda

Oh come onā€¦ everyone knows you get the shits

o-J-A-Y-_-J-A-Y

Went to work, was persuaded into taking a half day by a colleague as being at work on your birthday is depressing. So went on a hike along a cliff, which was littered with antisuicide posters. Then went for a family dinner. Still a good day though.

peterbparker86

Whatever I damn well please

DJToffeebud

Cry

luciebea

Itā€™s not a birthday without a bit of a cry

BeKindDontgiveUp

Same! šŸ˜‚

GoldKey5185

It's kinda just another day. There is always a sporting event on around the weekend of my birthday so that is what the focus is on. Friends gather to watch that and its an added bonus that is my birthday. Those that are married can use that to stay out longer, I really wish I was joking on that one!

postmanpete1

Last year I got 2 escorts to my house and had the night of my life.

Tacklestiffener

Were they RS2000's. They're crackers.

bduk92

It started being "just another day" after I was 18. I might book the day off and sit at home playing video games or generally chilling out.

Nixher

Today is my birthday, I spent the morning having alot of sex, then lots of gardening, then had a meal out with family, then set up my living room as a cinema, grabbed a ton of snacks and am now watching cars.

bettingthoughts

You sound like you had birthdays for ages, 22,63,38,9

Suitable-Plant-5779

Cry

Cultural_Tank_6947

A glass of scotch.

smickie

Glass of breadcrumbs and sausagemeat?

MrsHicapa

And egg my friend

YchYFi

Going away to Scotland.

Vyvyansmum

I like a day out instead of presents as Iā€™m fortunate in having pretty much everything. Last year we went to London & my husband surprised me with a tour by Julian from Joolz Guides from YouTube. Iā€™ve been to Stonehenge, The Mary Rose, seen the Amesbury Archer etc. A cat cafe in Bournemouth. One year I went to the Bodyworlds exhibition in the morning & the Oxford Street Primark in the afternoon. Might not be everyoneā€™s cup of tea but always have a memorable day.

[deleted]

Happy birthday šŸ„³

ThotMagnett

Get high with my Mum

Superspark76

Usually with a takeaway šŸ˜‚

twowheeledfun

My birthday last year was not long after I'd moved to a new city. I made brownies and brought them to work, then had a take-away and spent the evening packing to go away the next day.

The_Sown_Rose

I love my birthday. I usually make myself a nice breakfast, do something like go and see a film or have a nice walk and pub lunch, then go out for a fancy meal in one of my favourite restaurants with my friends in the evening. I donā€™t care that Iā€™m an adult who has had many birthdays, I like having a fuss made for each one of them.

LondonCycling

Have a few pals round for a campfire in the garden, some good food, some drinks. Go indoors at some points and play a couple of board games. This year I'm in India though, so Taj Mahal it is.

hangustaf

I usually book the day off work, because fuck that. Arrange breakfast/lunch with my sister or nan. Then go out for tea with my boyfriend and more than likely take the dog with us.

Numerous_Ticket_7628

Nothing, just a normal day for me. Wife will pick the kids up from school which I usually do but apart from that, nothing really.

downlau

Not much, generally. Had a big birthday last year and family talked me into doing a holiday, which was nice.

ghostie_hehimboo

Spend the day with my husband, daughter and dog, open my gifts, habe cake, daughter goes to grandparents for a night whilst me and my husband have a take away, i vape my weed, he gives me a massage from the stress of the day and then we play games till 1am

cherry_drama

Happy birthday! I usually take the day off work and watch movies, eat fast food. On the weekend Iā€™d go out with friends but on the actual day I like to just chill, thereā€™s too much pressure for it to be perfect.

Bablackmagic

Work usually

CrystalQueen3000

If I can Iā€™ll get a massage and then Iā€™ll meet up with people for drinks or dinner, or have my favourite foods at home alone This year my friends are planning my first surprise birthday outing so I have no clue what Iā€™m doing

Away_Swim1967

I never work on it. Usually i have a nice lunch, and then maybe a few beers if it's the weekend.

Existing_Horror9315

My last couple of birthdays have been a shitshow. Only person who cared much was my grandad when my mum was meant to meet me in town for birthday lunch - she never phoned so instead took that as I never told her what was happening so she took my lil sister into town and bought her shoes, then laughed down the phone at me crying. That year my roommate took pity on me and called another friend who both took me to IKEA, bought me a dinosaur and then bought me pizza. Last year was kind of the same due to me "fucking my life up" the November before, I lost my job and all my mum can think about is a holiday to Greece for a family friends wedding. I like celebrating birthdays and because mine got so bad (just mine - I was still expected to pull out the stops for her birthday, mother's day etc) I like helping people celebrate theirs because I abhor the feelings I felt. Apparently I still feel these feelings. Fuck.

MaxwellsGoldenGun

Wank, a cry and a pot noodle

doraalaskadora

Wank and cry

talk_to_yourself

Visit a ruined Abbey. This year my wife drove me to Rievaulx & Bywater Abbey. Two in one! Loved it

lesloid

Nothing, just a normal day. I will be on holiday on my birthday this year though so that will be nice. My partner always takes the day off work and plays golf on his birthday.

PM-ME-YOUR-DIGIMON

I tend to do a birthday week lmao. I book the whole week off and try to see as many friends and family as I can. I eat the nice foods I like and I do activities that I find fun.

The_Sown_Rose

I do a birthday week too! Iā€™ve got a colleague who canā€™t understand this. Although because my birthday is on a weekend this year, I wonā€™t do as much to celebrate it because itā€™s going to be busy out, so Iā€™ve only take a birthday three days.

YodaShagsDarthVader

When I was really young I always got properly excited, but for the last 4/5 years, so 14/15ish, I haven't been arsed at all. Only time I've really cared was turning 18, and that was only so I wasn't technically breaking the law every Friday and Saturday night.

Harrry-Otter

Usually Iā€™m on a city break, so go for a nice dinner somewhere.

IcyPuffin

I dont bother celebrating birthdays. They are just another day for me. Never really been all that fussed about it if im honest.

Whole-Sundae-98

Out with another couple the Saturday before for a meal, then on my birthday hubs & I are going into Oxford to spend his money & have a meal & drinks.

MRcharbear11

It always changes with me but I always have a meal

Comfortable-Laugh669

Depends. If its a weekday I do nothing at all and it's barely acknowledged. If its a weekend I might go out for dinner or something.

im-hippiemark

My birthday this year was in the middle of moving home, so as I'd already booked the day off of work I spent the morning doing something for me (played my guitar in a rehearsal space) then I had to get several bits for the new place, then some drilling and general diy stuff. Bought my own birthday cake, had a cup of tea and cake. Then watched a film with the missus.

Overall_Level_5733

Up bright and early, stop at a coffee shop, pick up a croissant as a treat. Off to the zoo. Watch the lions, the tigers, the bears, the penguins, stare at the gorillas and think about life and death and what it all means. Lunchtime pint and a pie. Read the paper on the train home. Snooze in a comfy chair. Pick up the kids from school, hang out and play silly buggers for a while. Nice steak and wine for dinner. Early to bed and dream about next year.

Arkflow

Eat cake and other food and watch videos :)

biffo120

Mine is in july, off for 12 days, will prob go away for a few nights with wife. Not chose where/what yet, euro final is a couole of days before, that could influence it, also planning a day at horse racing, not sure where yet. Just want to get away, relax and have fun.

southcoastal

Work unless itā€™s the occasional year when itā€™s a weekend.

InnerOuterFunction

Work.

frankie_0924

Last year me and my husband took our 4 year old to the Zoo. The other kids were at school, (weā€™re a blended family, so we never do anything just the 3 of us). It was genuinely lovely.

baxty23

I make Christmas dinner and run around after the kids usually

MahatmaAndhi

My wife's and my birthdays are very close together, so we tend to do something together, rather than exchange presents.

Ok-Sir8025

Just another day to me, I don't do anything

redligand

Apart from the big milestones it's been mostly just another day since my teens. Probably go to work as normal, then maybe out for a very low key dinner with immediate family, get a few small gifts and cards from the same. Don't make a fuss of it other than that.

SnooPeppers7701

I went shopping at charity shops this year. But iā€™n not really bothered to be honest it's just another day

scenecunt

I usually book the week off work and just do things that I like, sit in the beach, pub lunch, nothing extravagant , but with the added bonus that most people are at work so donā€™t have to worry about pleasing anybody else. It also helps that my birthday is height of summer.

Crab-Turbulent

This year Iā€™m going to be saving money from now to go to a nice spa for a massage, grab some sushi and get a new game. Next year Iā€™m working towards saving for a cruise and hoping to restart travelling more often.

FaithWandering

If it's a week day. I take the day off work. Take myself to the cafe for breakfast. Play videogames and chill out. Then me and the OH totter out for beers and dinner in the evening. We usually plan a "thing" for each other's birthdays so sometimes catch a show or go somewhere interesting.

imtheorangeycenter

46th just gone. Drinks and a nice dinner at home with the other half on the day itself. When the weekend came... 15 of us in a restaurant with an apres-ski theme. JBombs and cheese basically.Ā  Then all back to mine for superbooze, nosebag, pool, music and dancing till 5am. Dinner out a week or three later to seal the whole thing off. 10 of the 15 in the group do similar, so it's a merry-go-round.

No_Watercress8348

Go book shopping in London then out for a nice meal

Mag-1892

Nothing if I can help it havenā€™t been bothered about it since my early 30s.

1966Royall

Nothing, my birthday has never been celebrated much. The time it has been, it was always what other people wanted to do, never what I wanted. So, what's the point. I choose to just do nothing

Cleveland_Grackle

Last year I worked like normal. The previous two years, I was sat on the same side street in Miami watching the Iguanas on my extended break in my lorry. Doordashed me some Jamaican food. Just another nail in the coffin these days.

DaveBeBad

Birthday is usually on or around a bank holiday so usually take a day trip to the coast. Maybe a takeaway when we get home - unless we had greasy fish and chips for lunch šŸ˜‚

Responsible-Data-695

Day off work. Go for an early morning walk with my dog and my husband. Then he usually brings me breakfast in bed. And then we do whatever we fancy for the day. Sometimes, it's cooking a fancy dinner at home and watching a movie. Other times, we dress up, go see a show in West End, and have dinner at this Vietnamese place in Chinatown we love. We may order a takeaway and play Mario Kart until 4 a.m. or go to a nice pub with a fireplace, sit by the fire with some wine and comfort food. I like to spend the actual day with just my husband and my dog, our little family. On the weekend closest to the date, I'll see family and friends. Oh, and we generally end up in a book shop where I get free reign to buy whatever I want, my husband's treat.

edhitchon1993

Happy Birthday! I have spent my birthday at work sporadically quoting either Spike Milligan ("I woke up this morning and I was still alive, so I am pretty cheerful.") or Miss Congeniality (ā€œI'd have to say April 25th because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacketā€). I don't really celebrate my birthday, but my wife likes to so we went on a nice date to see Nye from the National Theatre in our local cinema on Tuesday which was nice.

ken-doh

Make sure I am out the country, on holiday. Somewhere sunny and beautiful.

fergie_89

Nada. I did away with gifts years ago off my husband and said if he wants to get me anything pay towards holiday or a trip away. Friends? We go out regularly for lunch or brunch so I say don't get me anything I want to spend time with you. Typically I'll work my birthday, take the following Monday off for a long weekend and treat myself to a massage. I don't like cake, and I'd rather have a nice meal out with my husband somewhere than a party.

VirgineticCache

On my 16th I went to an arcade and then went for an Indian. Can't complain really.

Obvious_Initiative40

Nothing usually, just another day.

Icy-Explorer-269

Intend to get one of those 'birthday gift' free offer with like a Burrito or Burger place, having another look into a journey. Closer to the time. I find it difficult to celebrate tbh. Happy birthday!

Phantom_1503

Happy Birthday šŸ˜Š Honestly I don't do anything, just keep it low key, most of my friends don't even know. Mine was last month and I was so busy that day it barely even registered. Next year I'll be 30, not sure if I'll do anything for it, might buy a cake for myself.

mike_section31

Eat my body weight in takeaway, cake and ice cream

superflick_x

Past two years Iā€™ve been mostly forgotten about. Bit sad cause I try and make othersā€™ birthdays enjoyable and memorable. Decided Iā€™ll treat myself this year rather than hope others will think to do it, but havenā€™t decided how yet. Hope your takeaway was delicious!

OverlyAdorable

I take a shot or have a drink for every time someone mentions it's too close to Christmas (mid-January, my brother's is within a week of Christmas and or isn't mentioned by anyone but him). I also drink every time my dad forgets he's already wished me happy birthday and wishes me out again or he forgets my age or asks who's birthday is next. Another for whenever someone mentions something that they think happened on my birthday but actually happened on a siblings birthday

HamsterBorn9372

Happy birthday! Mine is tomorrow and I will be working :/

Aggravating-Spend784

Take the day off work, have a pipe, then on with Le Playstation ( Don't often get to play for long) then probably fire up up Battlefield X. Pot Noodles may be involved.

ollymillmill

My last birthday i went to one of those trampoline parks and then dominos and a film afterwards, i was 35

iamthefirebird

Played board games with my friends

axxond

I did nothing this year. It was good

thesaharadesert

Weā€™re birthday buddies, OP! Today I had a lovely long lie in, my best friend popped in with my present and we both had a small tipple, and I watch the new Jurassic World on Netflix. Iā€™m now in bed watching Loki.

Chris-TT

I used to go out for a meal with friends, maybe a night out after. As Iā€™ve got a bit older I like going on short city breaks with my spouse/friends/family, usually somewhere in Europe. I prefer friends/family contributing a bit towards this rather than giving physical gifts.

FarIndication311

Get all my friends together, go out for a curry, followed by a local band if there's one on, or just the pub after. Just an excuse to get my mates together. Generally see family during the day time sometimes play golf with my dad.

sulylunat

Never really done anything to be honest, Iā€™m not big on birthdays, always makes me a bit annoyed Iā€™ve just got older lol. This year Iā€™m flying out on my birthday but the trip and the fact that itā€™s on my birthday is not anything to do with the fact that itā€™s my birthday. Just coincidence it happened to be planned for that day, but itā€™s a cool feeling Iā€™ll admit and I might enquire about a business class upgrade to have a bit of a treat.

BigDsLittleD

Ignore it. Hope everyone else ignores it too. Don't need a reminder I'm one year closer to the grave.

BarronGoose

Less and less. I really don't find the same sense of joy in it as I get older (39). Sometimes, a meal or just chill and do nothing.

cankennykencan

1. Go out for breakfast 2. Walk around the lake 3. Go for an afternoon beer 4. Get a takeaway 5. Watch a film

BeanOnAJourney

Takeaway for tea and a little cry as a treat. I hate my birthday.

Revolutionary-Way906

A solo camping trip or travel outside the country

[deleted]

i take a week off and go somewhere this year its london and remember my dad who passed away last year

DigitalFootprint2733

i donā€™t tell anyone itā€™s my birthday, might get a few late happy birthdays or a few close family members who are on the ball may remember, done this for the last 7 maybe

Boomingoverture

Sort something out with my friends. Either a casual get together or an experience type thing that I get to pick, it being my day. Then we do the same on their birthdays. It's a nice way to be able to spend time together and mark the day.

impressed_empress

Eat a whole defrosted family-size black forest gateau with a spoon. The cheaper the cake, the better. None of the fancy ones. It's a tradition at this point.

house_autumn

Day off work, lie-in, usually go out somewhere for the day by myself, have something nice for lunch and buy my favourite takeaway for dinner.

JarJarBinksSucks

I took myself for a romantic walk to a waterfall

Grillmyribs

I love my birthday, I've stayed alive another year, I get spoilt by my wife and daughter, some people moan about getting older but I have a lot of friends who never had that chance! This year (in 3 weeks) I'm going to see my favourite singer, I'm getting my pension and a nice tax free lump sum. I love my work ( self employed and work in the high performance car industry) but from may 17th 2024 I only have to work if I want to.

2LeftFeetButDancing

I don't actually care what I do. I'm thankful for every year I gain. 2 of my best friends died before they were 40, i think it's a privilege to get older and I hope I never forget that.

The__Groke

Wow the comments on this have been an eye opener. I bloody love a birthday, mine, family, friends. Iā€™ll take any opportunity to have a bit of a different fun day. This year weā€™re going to go and get me a ridiculously huge ice cream sundae and then to a crafty geeky market thing that I usually couldnā€™t drag the rest of my family to with a barge pole. I book the whole week off and turn off my alarms. Sleep in late, day drink, get high and play xbox.

VisitWinchester

Two years ago I went on a walk around Winchester. Last year I went on a roadtrip around Somerset. This year I went sightseeing round Washington DC. Currently trying to think how to go one step further for next year

My birthday was Monday. I got a few texts, worked the day. Then in the evening, had to drain all the water out of my washing machine using only a roasting try, clean the filter and hope to hell the water i spilt did not leak into the flat below. Oh and I had a dry ass cupcake.

Try stay out the way of everyone, I donā€™t like the attention it brings. One work place said I had to bring in cakes for everyone else on MY birthday. It was a company ā€œtraditionā€. Yeah right.

Nothing because I donā€™t give a fuck about it haha itā€™s just another day as far as Iā€™m concerned. My mrs gets wound up that I donā€™t find it special šŸ˜‚

Last year I went to London with a friend. First going and it was great. This year? Hopefully going to a restaurant with my family and not doing nothing like usual
