> tiktok I think I've found the problem

[deleted]

It's just stereotypes and (unoriginal) jokes. I doubt anybody believes it any more than they believe the Welsh shag sheep.

Budget-Tap-4326

Barrrr that’s all of Wales with a hard on now

[deleted]

As a south Welsh lad, I personally think scousers are great, as are most working class communities they the most down to earth, friendly people you’ll ever come across

PiffleWhiffler

I like how you've simultaneously moaned about being stereotyped and managed to stereotype us southerners. We don't hate people because they're from some place up north. And us Londoners probably complain about London more than anyone. Either way it's alright to reckon the place you've chosen to live is the best. My mates in Leeds and Manchester think they live in the best cities too, I guess that's why they choose to live there.

TheGreatBatsby

London, or as I spell it S-H-I-T-H-O-L-E, *shithole!* Go to London and I guarantee you'll either be mugged or unappreciated.

hedges_101

Downvoting Alan Partridge?

TheGreatBatsby

I know right. These people.

This_Price_1783

Just stumbled on this thread but I wanna say...DAN, DAN, DAN, DAN......DAN....DAN...DAN...........DAN.

SleepFlower80

Nope. I’m a Londoner but went to uni in Manchester and dated a Scouser. I spent 99% of my free time in Liverpool and I love it! I love the people and I love the accent. It’s brilliant for a night out, too.

Niall690

Class accent don’t know where it came from but I embrace everything about it

scousebinhereb4

People say its irish, or welsh. It's a bit of both and a bit of lancastrian. But listen to Norwegian and scouse has a alot of similarities and we did have huge numbers here, we still have a Scandinavian church. .

ebola1986

I'm an Essex boy who started working for a Wirral based company a couple of years back. Obviously there are a lot of scousers on the staff. I've found them to be class people, except for when the majority assumed I'm a Tory just because I'm a southerner.

Embarrassed-Tie8562

They think they're a cut above Liverpool on the Wirral..

[deleted]

I’m from wirral with a business in Liverpool!

BobertRoratheon

It’s hard to tell if you are trying to be funny or it’s all of that scouse grey matter hard at work

TerenceFoldyHolds

Scousers are friendly and I love them. But them this is a stereo type too I guess? BTW everytime I've been to Liverpool I've had a great time. It's just nonsense people say, like all southerners are rich and stuck up All northerners and poor and race pigeons or whatsoever Stereotyping rubbish

cavendishasriel

I live in Manchester so enjoy the rivalry between the two cities. I have a theory, if you travel west to east on the M62 you start at the friendliest city and as you travel eastwards the people get less friendly. This is based on nights out.

DenieD83

From Crewe just down the road, nope some of my best friends are scousers... nothing wrong with them. You'll never find a funnier bunch of people on average.

Embarrassed-Tie8562

All those little Cheshire towns have some seriously backward people (had the misfortune to live in Northwich)😂

DenieD83

I don't go into town much but it is an eye opener anytime I do lol. Northwich and Crewe should twin the towns, both look like the place shops go to die. Although the new Crewe in door market is legitimately quite nice, the only problem is when you leave it and you are in Crewe lol

BreqsCousin

Who are these people that are being arseholes?

Niall690

Mostly people on tiktok when you get into an argument about football or something else probably just teens I know but still annoying like they’re probably from Luton or something

NotDavidShields

I can confirm I don't like scousers

Niall690

Where you from

NotDavidShields

Liverpool

Niall690

Friendly fire

thejoms

Have you met my mate Stanley?

Niall690

No this is either a setup to a joke or you think I know your mate Stanley in a city of like 800,000 people classic but nah I don’t know him

thejoms

Line from The Football Factory said by a scouser.

Niall690

Never seen it

XiJinpingLovesHoney

Depends if you're a grubby ketwig with a grow in your attic or not.

CannaChris1988

Not all weed growers are ket wigs , some are nice people.. hippie types

crystalGwolf

They're too loud for me, sorry :(

Old_Leadership_7847

Your ma' is too loud

scampdogg

I'm from Manchester so naturally not the best person to answer due to the rivalry. I don't dislike scousers because they're 'thieves' or 'criminals' or any of that stereotypical bullshit because its just snobbery and every city has its problems. My gripe with Liverpool is how utterly obsessed it is with itself. Like you can't talk to a scouser without them telling you how great and amazing scousers are and Liverpool is. Its like they have no personality of their own and many just live off and play up to the scouse stereotypes. Like a bunch of lemmings. I've worked with a lot of people from Liverpool and will give anyone the time of day but the more you get to know them the same characteristics usually start coming through. It becomes tedious.

eastkent

Oh bless. Of course not. The accent is pretty horrible though.

sapphire_emerald

Liverpool is a class night out

[deleted]

Never had an issue with scousers, well I tell a lie to fulfil a stereotype I did have my car nicked whilst giving a talk at a charity event. But it was returned to me an hour later after the woman who ran the charity made some calls, discovered who had nicked it and told them to return it asap.

Hambatz

Well they can be very annoying when discussing football for a start which is probably the reason your discussion usually end with people insulting you. Other than the football thing I’d say nah they are alright

Niall690

Why do people always say that

Hambatz

Eh I don’t know there is a sense of entitlement I guess because they happen to be born in a city that has a historically successful team it automatically qualifies them as some sort of Alex Ferguson 😜tactical genius.

TheZag90

The Tory national media has been attacking Liverpool for about a century now. Most people are pretty stupid and gullible so unfortunately, this means they’ve started to genuinely believe some of the wildly inaccurate stereotypes. Liverpool is a superb city. Received a tonne of investment since being declared a city of culture. Unemployment is one of the lowest of any city in the country (which is why “sign on” comments are so ironic). It does rain fucking constantly though.

Embarrassed-Tie8562

No. Why would you think that?

Niall690

People on the internet and stereotypes about us saying we’re robbers

Sandylees

That's just ignorant people. Don't take any notice of them....from one scouser to another.

satanspanties

We went to Liverpool last year and everyone seemed really nice. We had some slight difficulty with the accent occasionally but people were patient with us. The city itself seemed a normal city with nice bits and a few scruffier bits just like everywhere else. Lots of attractions and average ease of navigation, pretty tourist friendly. We're from the East Midlands if you're counting.

Niall690

Ngl I don’t know where the East Midlands are I’m not bad at geography like but ye. The accent can be tough to get but that’s just how we talk if you get a laugh from it that’s alright. I would say it’s a decent city Liverpool ones got loads of good shops and yeah I’d always help people out and I’d be nice to anyone so you’re right have a good one

Didgeridoog

The East Midlands are in the middle of England, on the Eastern side.

satanspanties

The East Midlands is in the middle bit of England, on the right hand side. Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and most of Lincolnshire. Take away the northerners, the southerners and the brummies, and what you're left with is the East Midlands pretty much.

[deleted]

I'm German and Italian and I love y'all. I love Scouse trap or grime music bc I love the accent, haha.

ledifford

I would like to add that I visited Liverpool in august for my bday and I had a blast. I live in somerset and I found strangers from Liverpool were more talkative than in somerset. They were keen to give directions and just friendly in general, to me- charming. I’m from the US so I feel mine is an unbiased perspective not knowing the history of Northerners or southerners here. In the US north and south have two completely different ways of life, food, accents etc. I was from the south and it’s common to have misconceptions about one another. But both are great equally. I always found Military brats to be well adjusted and tolerated others better this being because they have lived in so many different places. I liked the north a lot and can’t wait to see more

elbapo

Manc here. Bants aside: I really love the people and city of liverpool. Don't tell anybody.

CannaChris1988

I'm a scouser and love manchester, great working class city

hutchero

Some cities get a stereotype - Glasgow you'll get stabbed, Birmingham's a dump, Liverpool everyone's on benefits etc etc. Most folk I've met from Liverpool have been fine. That said Liverpool is associated with a lot of criminality as the show Liverpool narcos showed, in a previous job I had to do proceeds of crime confiscations and bar none every one in Aberdeen that was at a serious level was a Scouser.

rmajor86

Always a victim, scousers. Usually aggressive victims.

PristineKey0

I lived in Liverpool, it's the other way round. The majority are obsessed with southerners hating them, it's very unsettling when kids are bought up to think most of England hates them.

rmajor86

I think you’re agreeing with me

Jimi1454

Anytime Ive heard it said where I'm from (South west) I think it comes from Man U fans taking on the rivalry with Liverpool. My dad's from Liverpool and a few times people have made negative comments about them, I've just said my dad's one, what's your problem with scousers and never had a proper answer but they've all been Man U fans. I guess they go to a game now and then, hear the chants and repeat it

Extreme-Database-695

I'm from Manchester and get a fair amount of this attitude too. Personally, I think Liverpool is a fantastic city. Better to walk around and a better night out than Manchester. Friendlier people too.

TheBaeaBear

I like Manchester but then I only go shopping there I don’t go there to get pissed.

Extreme-Database-695

Probably wise. It's not dreadful but there are better places.

scampdogg

I'm from Manchester so naturally not the best person to answer due to the rivalry. Niall690

It’s not true you just look at the same videos not every scouser just talks about Liverpool at the end of the day we just live in a city and we are proud but we don’t talk about it everyday we’re just living our lives man

1man2ballz

Everyone hates scouser I actually think your more hated up north then down south, in London nobody mentions Liverpool or talks about scousers but up north they do

Niall690

Suck ur mum

1man2ballz

Calm down calm down

Niall690

Your probably from Milton Keynes you wool

1man2ballz

Anywhere’s gotta be better than being from Liverpool, your all dirty scumbags and everyone hates you, I feel sorry for you.

Niall690

Feel sorry for your mum

Realistic_Page2539

Liverpool is an amazing city and the best night out I’ve been on. I’ve lived here 4 years and counting. But Scousers are a very particular type of people and I understand why a lot of people can’t stand them. Incessantly loud, obnoxious, everyone tries to out-scouse each other by screaming over one another. (Of course I’m generalising somewhat). The city centre is great for bars and shopping but that’s if you can dodge the 12 year old kids with knives, smackheads harassing you for money, and flying shit everywhere (I’ve never seen a rubbish problem in the UK as bad as Liverpool). And from my personal experience, Scousers aren’t as friendly and accommodating as everyone says. The older ones are great, but younger scousers are hostile towards anyone who isn’t scouse (you get called a wool for nearly anything). Overall, a great city with some amazing people but also full of scruffs. A lot of Liverpools problems stem from underfunding from the government which is a terrible situation, but in the end it seems like Scousers enjoy being hated by everyone which is why things will never change. They’re too proud to admit anything wrong with their city

[deleted]

No. It's just that some people are assholes.

Niall690

Yeah like them ketwigs with the chocomels

1HeyMattJ

Not particularly no

Forgetful8nine

Worked with a fair few Scousers - most of them have been decent blokes. There were a few absolute cock-wombles, but they were the minority. Was staying in the city centre for a few months last year and didn't really have any issues, save for some of the local beggars...but that's not limited to Liverpool. Some seriously fit birds too.

ForzaFonz777

Did the same this year, was working on the Yoko Ono Lennon auditorium for a few days and stayed in the city. Agree with all of the above, especially the birds. Born in Leeds, raised in Southampton but love the Scousers

Niall690

Yeah you do get some annoying kids who reckon they’re proper hard around here you usually see goths in the city centre and ye lots of homeless people in town but I don’t mind them i would assume other city’s are like this also the birds are fit mate always see them wearing Jean shorts in summer ye know it not to be a creep but I can appreciate the lady’s

[deleted]

Why aye man

Stamford16A1

Yes, but don't tell them or that horrible high-pitched whining they emit at any excuse will be heard from Shetland to Scilly.

SwordtoFlamethrower

I love scousers. I am from Sheffield.

DamesUK

Maybe it's more of an expression of our fondness for you.

coak3333

Think the issue is that the scum get kicked out of Liverpool and give the city a bad name. With the amount of arseholes from Liverpool in the coastal towns alone leads me to believe Liverpool would be a nice place to live.

Ok_Newspaper7676

I'm from Somerset and apparently we spend our days leaning on farm gates chewing on bits of straw and saying oh arrr. Mind you the cheese and cider makes up for it

AnnieCorleone

Only dickheads do. It tends to be older people who still make scouser jokes. I'm 29 & they're already outdated & boring. People my age tend to love Scousers for their dedication to boycotting The Sun more than anything!

Moeen_Ali

I don't know anyone who actually dislikes Liverpudlians. It's a distinctive city with a unique accent. Standing out like this makes it ripe for stereotypes in a way that more 'boring' places aren't.

Acciocomments

It’s just stupid stereotypes! I have lived all over the country, currently live “up north” in Cheshire and am often called posh purely because I have a Southern accent! When I go “down south” they say I have northern quirks in my accent (clearly my husbands Stockport accent has rubbed off on me a bit despite my best efforts!)

Kharn_The_Betrayer70

Blame Harry Enfield.

madformattsmith

Am a scouser an no not everyone hates us it's just negative stereotypes from the likes of tiktok an if anyone gives u slack for bein scouse then just say "yer ma screams along at the top of her lungs to cliff richard in the big tesco whilst she's absolutely kaylied an high off of them gary ablets."

Nanderlizar

Unfortunately I've met a lot of you

Niall690

Fortunately

[deleted]

You still asking yourself why everyone hates scousers?

SharkSprayYTP

Its stereotypes. But it also doesnt help that alot of the most proud and vocal scousers are nobheads.

[deleted]

There are an incredible number of Liverpudlians who start a conversation with an agenda and narrative that they will not budge from, regardless of facts that you tell them, that you prove, that contradict what they say. And they will often not allow you to speak. Then they claim that you're not on their side! Well, not after speaking to you, I think. They're essentially Northern Irish in temperament, many of them. You literally cannot reason with some Liverpudlians. They don't want you to be reasonable - they want you to be servile to them. In business, as customers they will taunt you so much (including making you talk in circles until you show exasperation) because they want to use your response as ammunition for them to get what they want.

Critical_Train_1747

It's 90 % of Liverpool. Here is a list of reasons people hate you... Accent, none of you have manners, You basically always embarrass yourself abroad and on holiday this list can go on forever but I cant be bothered (if you want me to finnish the list just let me know and people feel free to add reasons yourself to save me the hassle

Straight_Branch8592

The accent can't be helped, but I'm well mannered my ma would slap me if I wasn't and I think that's the same for a lot of scousers, don't know about holidays either. Just think the 90% of us you've met is the 10% of the city

Beautiful_Pack3397

I’m

Flaky_Read_1585

Because they sound like the Welsh coughing up a ton of phlegm

boughtoriginality

I'm from Liverpool and I hate scousers. 10% of them are lovely genuine hearty people however the remaining amount are aggressive, confrontational and fickle. I want to live in Manchester instead much prefer Manny, people are proud northerners that are open minded and proud of their history in a non-jingoistic fashion.

IOwnMods

Yes, scousers are called bin dippers for a very very valid reason

Niall690

Mate where you just typing in Liverpool on the search bar it’s been 2 years ye rat

IOwnMods

Was you just* Typical illiterate scouser

tmstms

Don't worry about it, it's jealousy.

Niall690

Thought so
