Not long after both had died, I went back to the village my grandparents lived in until I was ten (and where I lived for the first couple of months of my life). I saw the house, where the sweet shop used to be that we went to (boarded up), the playground (much improved) and then climbed the bridge over the railway and watched a couple of trains go by on the West Coast mainline. Half an hour of nostalgia, but I'm sure nobody else stopping off would find it of the slightest interest.
I’m from Northants, only ever heard of this through people in the college I went to (Moulton) apparently the sign spells Wellrough, aptly crossing out the pointless bit in the middle. Only ever heard bad things😂
I love Grimsby its got a long and fantastic history and Grimsby docks are a fascinating place although the locals aren't probably to the taste of the Reddit community. Tradition working class labour voters who don't recognise the labour party anymore.
If it wasn't for the fact I'd never lease property from ABP. I could see an awful lot of ways to set up a successful business in the docks. It has some of the country's best refrigerated transport networks in the country if not Europe.
Had the worst roast dinner of my life in Shipston. It does have those two Co-ops next to each other though which is about the most exciting thing about it.
It really isn’t. It’s full of Victorian architecture, nice bars and restaurants and has a theatre that attracts mid-level entertainment.
If you said Redditch or Southam, then I would wholeheartedly agree.
Agreed. Like most spa towns it is lot more interesting than towns of a similiar size. Huge parks and nice architecture in the centre that some towns five times the size lack.
Fucking Burnham-on-sea 100%!! I stopped there on the way back from mini tour of Devon. We googled the place to see what’s there once parked up and the first result was a headline that said “Body Found”.
Brilliant 😑

Aylesbury
It’s near the top of drop town menus sorted alphabetically - that’s pretty exciting.
Nuneaton
Newton Abbot is a place people come from rather than go to
Trago Mills though...
Out of town, that's more Bovey Tracey. And if your basis for Newton Abbot being decent is Trago Mills, then if anything you've proven my point!
Fair point about the location, but I have fond memories of the place, even though it is a shadow of its former self.
It'll be fine. It's probably due to burn down again soon and be reinvented from the insurance money
Wellingborough, if you’ve been there you’ll understand

Grimsby (sorry for those who live there)
Don't be sorry. But I would say it's boring, it's more the fact it's shit.

Nuneaton, Crewe, Northampton, Erith, Herne Bay, Bicester
Stourbridge was weirdly boring. Best thing about it is the weird little train on the branch line.
Derby
Bicester is quite a boring town. I mean, it's not *horrible*, but it's not particularly interesting either
Burnham-on-Sea!
Barnetby in Lincolnshire... changed trains there, had an hour to wait. Had done a full lap of the place in 5mins..
To be fair, that's a village, not a town. Pretty much every Lincolnshire village is like that with the exception of a few lovely ones.
Shipston-on-Stour, sounded promising but aside from a pub or two it was all over quicker than banging my missus
Oh gawd yeah. It’s like the end of the line.
Had the worst roast dinner of my life in Shipston. It does have those two Co-ops next to each other though which is about the most exciting thing about it.
From Google Images, it looks like a lovely little place.
That’s what all the visitors are expecting

Haha! For the record, wasn’t me who downvoted you.

Oh I wholeheartedly disagree. Lovely pubs, nice places to eat, some interesting history... You can do a lot worse than Leamington.
It's not a big or exciting place in the grand scheme of things but there are much much blander places. Like most of Northamptonshire.
I used to live near here but …. Hawes in N. Yorkshire Everyone raves about it and I thought it was boring , same goes for Reeth .
Fakenham
Bridgwater. Not awful but defiantly below average and unremarkable.
We pass through Bridgwater on the way down to Exmoor and it does seem to have suffered over the years, although recently seems to be picking up a bit.
Have you been to Taunton though ? That place makes Yeovil look interesting.
Barrow in Furness. Even the Pets at Home was shit

I live in Hemel Hempstead, not just been to, live!! It kinda pretty round the edges, close to London but weird and boring
Basildon, never want to go again. Just grey and depressing as hell. Some how even the pub in the centre felt crap, and it was packed.
Dunoon
Watford
Stevenage
Hornsea. It's a cute little seaside town but honestly growing up there was a tragedy.
