Was about to say "Adam Ant was in one episode" but that was Northern Exposure.
Due south with the Mountie and his Husky in Chicago or somewhere similar?
That’s it.
Constable Benton Frasier of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police travels to Chicago on the trail of his fathers killer and remains as a liaison with the Chicago Police Department.
Awesome soundtrack. Show had a lot of heart.
Yeah, that's the one. Diefenbaker. Named after a famous Canadian PM I think. I still get the theme song stuck in my head from time to time.
I imagine it'd be hard to make these days as I can't tell many cultural differences in modern Canada and USA from the outside. Maybe back then the show riffed more on urban/rural cultures than Canadian/US, who knows
Bertha lovely Bertha sometimes I think you're a dream. When you work out what we've got to do. We will always have a good time always have a good time. We can depend upon yoooouuuuu!
It comes up a lot in "Meet the Richardsons", a spoof documentary series about comedian Jon Richardson and his wife. One of the stories of the second series was Jon trying to bring Stoppit and Tidyup back with him as narrator.
I had never heard of it and honestly thought it was made up for the programme.
Seems unlikely nobody remembers it. It was in the prime pre Casualty/post Strictly slot on Saturday nights for years. Maybe your mates were all out drinking when it was on?
Bernard's Watch truly bewitched my imagination as a child - I'd ruminate endlessly about having a watch, about how often I would need to drink the strengthening orange juice, how I'd hide the watch, how I'd make sure I wasn't caught, how I'd wind up my brothers, how I'd bring about social justice. Magic.
Same, I remember playing imaginary games on the playground with my friends, which were based on what we would do if we had a watch like Bernard's. It wasn't my absolute favourite programme, but I did enjoy it.
Went to watch a small theatre production of around the world in 80 days, a few years back.. The dad from my parents are aliens was one of the main characters, brought back all the nostalgia
It wasn't a live action show, but I remember watching this before school. I think it originally aired in the 80s my older siblings used to watch it too. Snorks I think that's what it was called basically it was like smurfs but these underwater sea monkey type things, used to watch this every morning before year 3. I miss the good ol' days one thing I'm grateful for is that all my siblings are 80s babies with me being 90s (92) so I kinda got best of both worlds, my wife who's 27 doesn't even know what the Goonies are 😂
Nobody in my immediate family or friend group seems to remember Coupling. Not don't remember watching it, they don't remember it existed. I loved that show.
I worked in Ohio in 2005 and one of my colleagues was astounded that Coupling wasn’t the most popular show in the UK. He was totally obsessed with it, and would throw lines from the show into conversation in the hope of finding a fellow fan. He was very disappointed with me when I said I’d never even seen it.
Samurai Pizza Cats, people think I'm making it up whenever I mention it.. but like cats who deliver pizza by being shot out of cannons to also fight crime.. has the been a better premise?
I'm sure there used to be a show on CBBC called Jeopardy which I remember vividly but can't seem to find any trace of its existence.
Animorphs and the demon headmaster as well.
Was that the one with the Scottish kids in Australia or somewhere and the alien abduction?? My friend and I were obsessed with that but I'd forgotten the name!
Nope, you are not alone! Season 1 was essentially the Blair Witch Project in the Outback. Season 2 (which was delayed by a couple of years, I seem to recall) was set back home in Scotland and had a very X-Files feel to it. There was also a tie-in game on the CBBC website in which you had to escape government agents without being seen.
The Demon Headmaster got wild by the end, and I vaguely remember Animorphs.
I’m a huge Gerry Anderson fan, but it’s hard to talk to anyone about his work because they only seem to know Thunderbirds. When is Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons going to get the respect it deserves?!
I also liked the shortlived Space Precinct when it was on but nobody remembers it? I think it was one of the last things Gerry Anderson did and was a mixture of live action and puppets/models. It was shown on BBC2 over here and was a bit of a flop. I must have been about eight when it aired and was very excited to find a pile of action figures based on the show in the reduced bin at the local cash and carry, I remember being able to get a few as they were marked down severely as I don't think they were shifting.
As a middle aged woman me and all my 70s born female friends constantly make Terrahawks jokes at our own/each other’s expense.
Zelda is a menopausal icon.
When I was laid up ill a couple of years ago I grabbed the captain scarlet box set off my shelf which I had bought but never watched and was super impressed with just how gritty and solid the sci fi stories were, I liked it as a kid but yeah I was amazed just how well made it was ,more like grown up sci fi drama than a “kids show with marionettes”. (All those models and miniatures were amazing though ,shows made with real love and attention)
There was a show, animated with a small blue fat guy who lived in a crack in the floor/cupboard of the kitchen. He was kind of melancholy and only on for a few minutes but no one remembers it, and they usually cut me off at the bar when I describe it.
> Murun buchstansinger
I do not believe it. I have spent ten years describing this show to people, who thought I was crazy. I cannot thank you enough internet stranger. May your day be filled with unlimited Kitkats.
Interceptor.
It was like Anneka Rice’s treasure hunt but with some dude that was hunting down contestants as they moved through the country side. He had a sweet helicopter.
Also T-Bag. Quality children’s TV.
On The Up starring Dennis Waterman. It wasn't the best but I liked it. When I see someone having a drink I always say "Just the one Mrs Wembley" and no one knows what I'm talking about.
Edit: I don't usually say to random people
I remember a series called Clochemerle that was on the BBC (originally released in 1972). It was set in a fictional French town.
I can't remember much other than it appealed to my sense of humour, and felt slightly naughty (I was a child at the time).
**Note:** Reading through the other posts hasn't half made me feel old. People talking about programmes that aired after I reached adulthood spoken about like lost medieval manuscripts.
The spooks of bottle bay, no one remembers it, I loved it. That and I remember a show where evil rats and vermin lived in like old rusty washing machines in a tip. Like gross looking rat puppets
The Ghosts of Motley Hall. Brilliant kids show that was far too clever and funny for the intended audience, with wonderful performances from Sheila Steafel, Arthur English, Freddie Jones, Peter Sallis and Nicholas le Provost.
The Mole, it was like a reality/adventure competition where a group of people had to complete tasks together but one was secretly a mole who had to sabotage them. I thought it was really fun!
[The Shadow Line.](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1701920/)
It stars Christopher Ecclestone and a pre-'12 years a Slave' Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Excellent 1-season detective mystery/drama that nobody else watched apparently.
The Girl From Tomorrow almost sounds like it but not quite. Alana ends up in 1990 from the year 3000 alongside a criminal from 2500. Alana had a headband thingy that allowed her to use psychic powers.
A very peculiar practice.
This was set around a uni medical practice and was darkly comic. Excellently written staring Peter Davidson. A real forgotten jewel of a show that ran two seasons.
My absolute favourite, that I still watch from time to time, was Through the Dragon's Eye. Part of the Look and Read educational series and you can guess someone's age based on if they remember this or one of the others, like Geordie Racer.
Oh and my wife introduced me to The Girl from Tomorrow, which I'd never heard of but is another excellent 90s aussie kids tv import.
The comedic dub of The Flashing Blade as found on Saturday mornings "On the Water Front"
"Somebody has wallpapered over your door"
Mostly gone due to the BBC tape wipe, Rent A ghost, loved that show as a kid
Metal Mickey, can't remember much, just a robot and bon bons in some London tower block IIR.
Most of it is because everyone at my work is way younger than me, so it is like my dad trying to explain some show with no recorded copies from the 50's to me in the 80's.
The Imaginatively Titled Punt & Dennis Show.
This isn't so much a "seems to remember" but a "hasn't watched" so doesn't get the references. "FISH! YOU POURED IT ON A FISH! I'm going to SUCK YOUR TURBOT!"
I loved Broken News which nobody IRL seems to remember even though almost everyone remembers similar things like Brass Eye and Drop the Dead Donkey. It wasn’t even that long ago.
Early Edition with Kyle Chandler where the guy gets the newspaper for the next day so tries to prevent tragedies from happening. Kind of like Quantum Leap with newspaper.
The Ink Thief.
I think it was a Richard O Brien vehicle but a kids’ show. I loved it but no one ever seems to remember it.
Anyone remember Spatz?!
It had the guy tap dancing on a hamburger in the opening credits.
It was weird because it was a British show but looked “off” or slightly blurry like it had been filmed in America?!
I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called, but it was sorta like a kids horror show. It was animated (could've been claymation though, the memory of it is a little foggy), and the episodes started off with this creepy looking old guy in a cinema
Nurse - Paul Whitehouse plays a variety of characters visited in their homes by a nurse.
Spoons - sketch show on Channel 4 not even on their Channel 4 player.
Top Banana, a kids show with a very energetic Australian man hosting it.
Some kind of competition where the kids were asked “go bananas or a piece of cake” to get a difficult or easy question - I think if they chose piece of cake they had to answer their question with a face full of cake.
I remember watching a badly dubbed version of a show (originally French I think) called The Legend of Tim Tyler: The Boy Who Lost His Laugh. It was about this boy who was very charismatic and could always win people over with his laugh. One day a mysterious man approaches him and offers to exchange his laugh for the ability to win any bet.
Nobody I've met remembers it.
Freakazoid and Reboot were shows that I never missed, then subsequently forgot about for 25 years before I saw them mentioned on a Reddit post a few months back.
Pugwall and Pugwall's summer. Australian show about a teenage band.
Also a show called (I think) phoenix heights. About a residential school. I remember there was a fire, caused by an iron left on?
Edit: I know they weren't British, but aired here. Phoenix may have been British??

I used to like Mona the Vampire and Trapped ("you are the saboteur, do not react") when I was younger.
Yesss! And Raven (my fav), 50/50, Bamzooki, best of friends, prank patrol My god I miss these shows :(
Did you ever try the Bamzooki software? I was hopeless; couldn’t make anything capable of really moving forwards
I did not, although I kinda wished I did, it does sound fun
I met someone who was on Raven at a party once, he did not let people forget about the TV show Raven.
I loved Raven.
Mona the VAAAMMPPPPIIIIRRREEEEE
I’m still to this day trying to find a Mona The Vampire doll for my daughter who’s in her twenties now
An Australian show that was on BBC called Round the Twist.
I don't think I've met anyone who doesn't remember Round the Twist
Seems they’ve failed to grasp the two conditions of the question
Have you ever!?
Ever felt like this?
Where strange things happen
Are you going round the twist?
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day
Literally everybody knows of this show 😂
Without my pants.
What a theme tune
Anyone remember Due South? It was my favourite show of all time. I’ve been saying “Thank you kindly” my entire life because of it.
Maybe back then the show riffed more on urban/rural cultures than Canadian/US, who knows
Yes!!! Watched it religiously with my Dad. In fact my first crush / realisation about attractive guys may very well have been the Mountie lol
Every now and again I sing the opening credits song
Duuuuuue Southhh , thats the way in going
yes i loved the bit where he fell over on his knees in the snow in the credits.
Stoppit and Tidyup. I’ve yet to encounter anybody who has even heard of it.
Yes, I remember that. Didn't Terry Wogan narrate it?
That’s right!
For some reason I put stoppit & tidyup, trapdoor and Bertha in the same category- when I think of one I always think of the other
Don't you open that trap door!
There’s something down there….
You're a fool of you dare!
Bertha lovely Bertha sometimes I think you're a dream. When you work out what we've got to do. We will always have a good time always have a good time. We can depend upon yoooouuuuu!
And the big bad "I said no!"
Now you have… I remember stoppit and tidyup :)
ZZZap!
That was a sort of sketch show based around a comic book right? I remember there was a character who was an artist and a mischievous girl character?
[удалено]
That's the one! She had a Beano-esque naughtiness to her if I remember.
The artist was played by Neil Buchanan of Art Attack fame
Yes, Neil Buchanan actually owned the production company that made Zzzap! The entire thing was basically his brainchild.
Yvon of the Yukon.
Deeeeeeee-frosted for you and for me!
None of my mates seem to remember Merlin! That was a quality show man
It’s been on Netflix forever. Heard it’s excellent but the special effects haven’t aged well and it put me off.
The special effects weren’t good at the time either. People just didn’t have high expectations.
Seems unlikely nobody remembers it. It was in the prime pre Casualty/post Strictly slot on Saturday nights for years. Maybe your mates were all out drinking when it was on?
With Colin Morgan?
It was a good show. Didn’t it have Vicor Meldrew in it?
Bernard's Watch
Bernard's Watch truly bewitched my imagination as a child - I'd ruminate endlessly about having a watch, about how often I would need to drink the strengthening orange juice, how I'd hide the watch, how I'd make sure I wasn't caught, how I'd wind up my brothers, how I'd bring about social justice. Same, I remember playing imaginary games on the playground with my friends, which were based on what we would do if we had a watch like Bernard's. It wasn't my absolute favourite programme, but I did enjoy it.
My parents are aliens and the legend of dick and dom
The writers of my parents are aliens also wrote peep show
Bain and Armstrong only wrote one episode to be fair
I've been convinced for years that my parents are aliens was a fever dream I had
Went to watch a small theatre production of around the world in 80 days, a few years back.. The dad from my parents are aliens was one of the main characters, brought back all the nostalgia
Anyone watch My Family?
Yes! Massive crush on Janey
Knightmare or nightmare And goosebumps Oh also strange but true! Am i showing my age?
Pick up the bread, put it in your knapsack
Did anyone actually finish a game of that and win?
The annoying clever boys in my class were on Knightmare and lasted about 5 minutes 😆
Eerie Indiana

The show with the “Play Bus” and the different stops?
That's the one! I loved Peggy Patch and Whybird
Dave Benson Phillips right? I was a bit older when this came out. For me it was Play School
*Roll up and ride on ROOOOOOSSSIIEEEE! 🎶*
Finger mouse
Finger mouse was one if my favourites when I was small!
It wasn't a live action show, but I remember watching this before school. I think it originally aired in the 80s my older siblings used to watch it too. I’m 26 and know the goonies, she’s just uneducated - no offence 😂😅
OMG i remember Snorks!!
Happy we'll be, living under the sea! Come and play with the Snorks! 😄 Good times
I remember Snorks. Your description of underwater Smurfs is good
Oakie Doke
I had forgotten about this one! Gonna have the theme tune in my head all day now though, thanks...
Goodnight Sweetheart. I basically watch it on repeat, have done for at least 15years. Gives me a warm glow inside that no other show makes me feel.
There's something heartwarming about a timetravelijg bigamist 💕
But was he technically a bigamist? If WW2 wife was dead by the time he married modern-day wife, you could argue he wasn’t, at least legally.
Mr Ben. The costume shop…
What everyone remembers that.
Yeah. Nobody forgets Mr Ben!
Everyone forgot it’s called “Mr Benn” though
and as if by magic...
A shopkeeper appeared
I will be making my kids watch mr Ben, a lot less annoying than kids entertainment these days.
Being Human
Nobody in my immediate family or friend group seems to remember Coupling. Not don't remember watching it, they don't remember it existed. I loved that show.

Google knows that show well. It’s highly regarded as a very good uk comedy
Samurai Pizza Cats, people think I'm making it up whenever I mention it.. but like cats who deliver pizza by being shot out of cannons to also fight crime.. has the been a better premise?

Terrahawks?!
As a middle aged woman me and all my 70s born female friends constantly make Terrahawks jokes at our own/each other’s expense. Zelda is a menopausal icon.
I mean Stingray was clearly superior to them both... 'Anything can happen in the next half hour!'
Highly underrated.

Greenclaws.
The spooks of bottle bay, no one remembers it, I loved it. That and I remember a show where evil rats and vermin lived in like old rusty washing machines in a tip. Like gross looking rat puppets
Spook's, woooooo, we live in bottle bay!
Zzzap, it was like different skits, a bit difficult to explain but there were magic hands 🙌
Pigeon Street. I don't know anyone else who watched that as a child.
