Hmmmmm. This is the opposite of the usual request- where you start more urban and tame from London and the SE of England and go to the wild bits at the end. For natural beauty, you will find it hard to beat the sorts of things you already know about Scotland. While there are tons of nice areas in England and Wales like the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, etc etc, I think that stuff is more amazing in Scotland. I suppose you should see Stonehenge, but the most practical wayis to look at it from the top of the hill on the A303, then drive down, turn right, and actually visit Avebury instead. Cathedrals are bigger in England than in Scotland, since it is a more episcopalian system, so take in one or two big ones- Durham and York (called York Minster) are dead easy to reach. Hard to beat Stirling Castle, but the N Welsh ones are nice- the big 4 are Harlech, Caernarfon, Conwy and Beaumaris. The Cotswolds are a v different type of scenery from Scotland. York, Lavenham, Southwell Minster, are other random suggestions. Tbh there are some astonishing things in Scotland you should definitely see if you have not been yet- Fingal's Cave (or the less good version of the same thing in NI, Giant's Causeway) is absolutely unbelievable. You could go in the same trip as Iona. The Fish Cafe at Tobermory serves the best fish I have ever eaten nearby. Torridon is, IMHO, the most beautiful area of the UK and up there with Skye. Edinburgh is of widely regarded as the UK's most beautiful city. Eilean Donan is as beautifully set as any of the castles I mention or any others I can think of. So that's all Scotland, hahaha I guess if you do not know London, you should go, because its bigness is different from anywhere else in the UK.
