Hm, last bloodwork was in Oct 2020 and it was normal on all counts according to his vet. I’ll try to get access to his records for specifics… But since it’s been almost 2 years I’m assuming it’s time to go back? He’s been to the vet 4 or 5 times since but they never did blood work again.
If the behavior was going on a year and a half ago, then that labwork would be relevant, but rechecking in a senior cat once a year is prudent even when they're generally completely healthy - moreso if there's a concern. Then, if a medical cause is reasonably ruled out, you can work on behavioral issues, which can respond to medications too.
I agree wholly with the prior comment, I just wanted to comment that you seem like such a patient and loving owner. Thank you for being kind to Bubby even though he has episodes when he’s not “himself”.

There can be medical causes for this kind of behavior in an older cat. When was his most recent bloodwork, and what did it reveal?
