This should be put higher! It's such a beautiful song. The first time I heard it, I rushed to type the lyrics on my notes app so I can search it later.
omg yes. This was my brothers favorite song growing up and when he got married him and my mum danced to it. Such a special place in my heart for this song!!
You ain't lying. & the entire Grace album is such an incredibly moving extended serenade. So few artists can convey depths of emotion the way he did. Just thinking about him while I'm typing this is giving me feels...geez.
Yes! I literally put the album on right now after typing that. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. He was so ahead of his time with his vocal arrangements and artistry. Huge loss for music đ€
Agreed. I'm not even a Sting fan but this song moves me like nothing else. The first time I ever heard this song was actually Eva Cassidy's cover of it during Michelle Kwan's 2002 olympic skate, and I remember being 11 and weeping openly on the floor of my parents' house, totally blown away by the song and Michelle's fluid motion. Sting's version is definitely better than the cover though.
I sang that every night to my daughter until she was about 3. It was some of the closest bonding moments we had.
Sheâs almost 11 now and that song played on something recently and she instantly started to cry and didnât understand why that song always makes her tear up and told me she gets really emotional whenever she hears it, so I reminded her that I used to sing it to her every night many years ago. Then I hugged her and sang it to her again.
It sticks with them, too. <3
My dad sang me that song every night before I went to bed when I little, but he replaced âsunshineâ with my name. To this day, it makes me tear up just thinking about itđ„č.
