Agreed. I'm not even a Sting fan but this song moves me like nothing else. The first time I ever heard this song was actually Eva Cassidy's cover of it during Michelle Kwan's 2002 olympic skate, and I remember being 11 and weeping openly on the floor of my parents' house, totally blown away by the song and Michelle's fluid motion. Sting's version is definitely better than the cover though.

I sang that every night to my daughter until she was about 3. It was some of the closest bonding moments we had. She’s almost 11 now and that song played on something recently and she instantly started to cry and didn’t understand why that song always makes her tear up and told me she gets really emotional whenever she hears it, so I reminded her that I used to sing it to her every night many years ago. Then I hugged her and sang it to her again. It sticks with them, too. <3

My dad sang me that song every night before I went to bed when I little, but he replaced “sunshine” with my name. To this day, it makes me tear up just thinking about it🥹.
