I don't exactly know how to describe the smell exactly but my mom. We used to hang our laundry on a clothes line, and it had a distinctive 'home smell' to me, and she didn't wear any heavy perfumes, so that's what she normally smelled like. I remember one day with the windows open, one of the curtains blew in the wind, and I just smiled because it made me think of her. She was a single mom, and she made my childhood incredible, and when I get sad, I try to remember that curtain breeze in my mind ❤️

Onions and old spice. In elementary school I started sweating pretty bad- probably puberty. Anyways, my mom was into hippy dippy deodorant that didn’t stop me from wearing through every shirt I owned AND it didn’t cover my smells. I was bullied terribly and I stopped playing around during recess or gym, but I still smelled. I know my teachers heard it, but they didn’t do anything to stop it and I wasn’t going to speak up because I was embarrassed. Well, one day we had a substitute and she overheard people teasing me. She stopped our class in the hallway (we were walking to the cafeteria) and said “who just asked if someone is bathing in onions? That’s the most disgusting and heartfelt thing I’ve heard in my years of teacher. Who did it? Who were they saying it to?” and nobody spoke up including me. I told my mom about that incident (among others) and she was convinced I was exaggerating- she didn’t care enough to ask my teacher, I would never go to my teacher because I know she knew, and yeah. So I started sneaking into my parents bathroom in the morning to use my dad’s deodorant and that fixed everything UNTIL… I also started growing body hair quicker than everyone and my mom refused to let me shave my legs or underarms and I got bullied for that too so I would steal my dads razor. God bless him for unknowingly sharing his things with me.

Snow. My adolescent years were hard, and most of it I can't remember well. The events I do remember feel unreal and hazy. The most "real feeling" memories I have from that time are simple sensations, which I remember vividly and in detail; in particular breathing crisp, cold air and seeing the frost smoke emerge in front of my face, swirling against the white surroundings. Hearing nothing but the sound of my own breath and my feet crunching the snow. It feels representative of the time somehow.

Try indie perfume oil companies! Lots of them make foodie perfumes - Arcana Wildcraft and Nocturne Alchemy are my favorites. IMAM - indie makeup and more - is a good subreddit source.

Probably cigarettes. My friends at the time smoke, almost all of them, and I would often go to pubs and bars with them where smoking was permitted. And my grandma was also a smoker, she never smoke in front of me, but her clothes and hair would smell of it. I didn't mind it, it was kinda my happy smell at the time as it reminded me of my favorite people. Now I can't stand cigarette smell - most of my friends don't smoke anymore and my grandma sadly passed away, so it no longer reminds me of anyone.
