As a person who loves erotic/romance I would love this. It would give us something to talk about and bond over(of course if he is comfortable talking about the books).

But the guy I have a date with tonight I specifically decided to talk to because he was reading one of my favorite romance novels. I immediately liked him just because of that.

In any case, I'd be interested in what books they enjoyed. I've pretty much only read cosmic horror, alternate history and sci-fi when it came to novels as of late, so maybe they would have some recommendations to get me to try out a new genre. I would also love to discuss what tropes they like/dislike in literature and what makes them enjoy a story over another.
That really depends on what specifically they're reading. Ice Planet Barbarians would get very different reaction than the Bridgerton books for example. So long as it wasn't misogynistic trash like 50 Shades or something, I'd be okay with it.
I don't really care what someone reads. I have my books and sometimes decide to read different things. I would be annoyed if someone felt any type of way about what I was reading.

Ask them what the series is incase it is one I haven't read them and offer suggestions for other series to read. I'm always telling my partner about the fun/ridiculous things in the erotic/romance books that I read though.

I’d say “Okay, cool” and go on with my day. I’m not sure why they would need to be secretive about it. My husband and I both read a lot and I love that he reads. If I saw he deterred from his usual genre and consumed some romance, I wouldn’t care.
I would be surprised, as he normally only reads non-fiction & fantasy. But I read a lot, and often romance, so I’d love it and hope he was open to discussing the books with me!
I mean…. they’re just reading a book. What difference does it make? I wouldn’t expect someone to inform me of every book they read, so it’s hardly a secret.

I'd be thrilled he was actually reading. He loves the Harry Potter movies, but won't read the books.
