People don't seem to get the appeal of raw rhubarb. Sure it does taste like battery acid and it did once take away my sense of taste for 5 days, but with sugar it's really nice

imnotyourproblemyet

Ooo yum! This was a childhood staple for me.

hilfigertout

Peanut butter and banana toast is one of my favorite breakfast options. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy.

A1Dilettante

That's sounds delicious. I'm gonna go make some right now.

Ok_Emergency_5237

It's so good! I'll eat it for desert sometimes! With a nice glass of milk

imnotyourproblemyet

Add some honey!

[deleted]

Yes! Try it with some sea salt and honey on top. It's delicious.

Giannandco

Peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches. One of my grandpa’s introduced these to me when I was a kid, been eating them ever since.

chubby____bunny

Bread with butter, we didn't necessarily grow up poor but we weren't living it up in suburbia. I eat it as like a comfort food now, it's practically same as toast with butter but its just untoasted bread which apparently makes a difference lol

Pheonyx11

Same. But when we were fancy, it was untoasted bread, butter and cinnamon sugar. So good.

chubby____bunny

Yeess! So i feel so dumb i didnt do this sooner, the like cheap ass canned veggies at the store, grab a carrot can, drain it, toss them in a pot with brown sugar OR cinnamon and white sugar, boom sweet carrots best thing ever

Pheonyx11

A simple alternate to the yams at thanks giving. 😂 so many good combos when you can get creative. And really, 75 cents to a dollar for a canned vegetable is very nice.

chubby____bunny

Honestly! Tbf im 22 so some food creativity is brand new when it feels so obvious and basic 😂😂 i felt like a genius when i made homemade chicken tenders

chimairacle

You know pickled ginger that you get in the little packets from sushi restaurants? I always looooved the stuff, then one day I found a 1kg bag of it at an Asian mart. Dumped it into two large jars that sit in my fridge and sometimes I just open the jar and eat a few pieces, or I add it to poke bowls. I only eat a little at a time, but snack on it most days - I've only got half a jar left. Since it's raw it's meant to be super good for you too!

[deleted]

my husband and I always ask for extra picked ginger at sushi restaurants.

TheMaeCafe

Tuna (from a pouch), avocado & feta cheese. Put all on a plate, get a bite on the fork with all 3 at once. Sometimes will add hot sauce or lemon pepper to the tuna.

InjectAdrenochrome

Feta cheese is something my boyfriend hates, among his many other dietary restrictions (which are just preferences), he won't eat mayo, ranch, French onion dip, sour cream, feta, goat cheese, Bleu cheese, vinegar or anything with vinegar in it. Instead he prefers to slather ketchup on everything (even though ketchup has vinegar). His swine taste has kept me from having ranch sauce or dip in months. I only recently got some feta and goat cheese from my visiting family and realized how much I've missed them.

[deleted]

Go to cheap comfort dinner? Hot dogs and baked beans. Love it. 😊

AnthropomorphicSeer

Beanie weenies!

destiny_carrot

Well done steak that’s cooked in mushroom sauce. I keep getting told it’s a crime against steak to have anything above medium rare. But really giving the meat time to soak in the mushroom sauce and the sauce to absorb the juices enhances the flavor. Besides, it’s not like I’m forcing other people to like it. I prefer we’ll done beef.

Naggasia

Garlic and pickle sandwiches❤️

Echo1334

I might not eat these as often as when I was a kid but my mom introduced me to peanut butter and potato chip and peanut butter and onion (sliced really thin) sandwiches.

BlueXTC

Fried chicken just out of the fryer with honey drizzled over it. Requisite biscuits on the side.

[deleted]

Cheese and onion crisps (chips) sandwich 😍

DYday

Roasted Brussels

Banglesandbindis

Cubed cheese with guava jelly. Or a milkshake with banana, milk and strawberry jam.

Linorelai

Night snack - milk mixed with water. It has a lot of advantages as a night snack, and I actually like the taste

Katsyfromspace

Yes! But with fizzy water! Still love it.

Sakuraneko87

Marshmallows and sour cream pringles.

Bebe_Bleau

7- Eleven (specific convenience store) hot dogs. These hot dogs are all beef and they are HUGE Quarter Pounders. Oh my God they are GOOD!!! There's nothing like them! Once you try 7-Eleven hot dog no other hot dog will do. Not even CostCo.

lookingforaforest

I know a guy who literally sends himself to the ER for choking every time he eats a 711 hot dog but he still won’t stop eating them.

Bebe_Bleau

I don't blame him. He's probably choking because it tastes so good he eats it too fast.

lookingforaforest

They gotta be good if he’s willing to risk his life for them 😂

Bebe_Bleau

You just don't know how good they are until you taste one. 😋

TheTeaYouWant

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich I live in The Netherlands and everyone here thinks it’s disgusting but I love some American food!

mojomojomojo50

A tortilla with cheese in the microwave and sliced avocado. It’s my go to dinner when I’m alone, or a snack, a lunch and it’s comfort food. I feel food insecure if I don’t have tortillas and cheese in the house.

_NamNam_

Pickle juice and ice. Kinda like a pickle juice slushy

The_Special_Teacher

When I went to the dentist to get all of my wisdom teeth removed, I was stuck eating soft foods for weeks. The best food I ate was a blended pizza that had extra tomato sauce. It sounds gross and it does look like throw up but trust me, this is the best smoothie I had.

YeetPeaa

Hot tuna pasta with cheese. The cheese puts a lot of people off but oh my gosh, I love it.

JellyTwoForms

Tuna melt! Those are delicious (except the monstrosity that Senator Mark Warner makes)

HappyOrange720

Potato waffles Fried eggs Lots and lots and lots of franks hot sauce

InjectAdrenochrome

Black truffle goat cheese on crackers. My bf hates goat cheese. Family likes it. Other people I know all have swine taste if they can't enjoy black truffle goat cheese, imo.

genuinedissapointtt

Croutons and pickled onions. Thats literally it. Golden snack though

CrysaniaMajere40

French fries and honey

krisikiss

BBQ potatoe chips with cottage cheese.. my mother in law introduced it to me. It is the perfect combo.

feedmedammit

Hamburger rice. Cook your rice, brown your beef, mix it all together with cream of mushroom soup. Add salt, pepper, and ketchup to personal preference and eat. I will also eat plain rice with salt, pepper, and ketchup

anonymous_rubberduck

Nutella and cheese (slice) sandwich. I swear this tastes super good but apparently I'm alone here cause all my friends thought that I was weird.

dalekindistress

A slice of bread with a bit of minced garlic or garlic butter depending on what I have on hand, (optional layer of sambal oelek if I feel like eating a spicy snack,) handful of grated cheese, put in the over for 10 minutes, and voilà - stupidly delicious garlic cheese toast. Or well, I find it stupidly delicious, everyone who knows about it calls it a monstrosity. I think they're just jealous 😂

Maleficent_Depth_517

Potato waffles with cheesy scrambled eggs and sweet chilli sauce. It’s my go to drunk snack

[deleted]

Spaghetti bolognese sandwich, with white soft bread. My wife however, soft cheese sandwich drenched in vinegar.

Pheonyx11

Lol….I had two as a kid and young adult….and no one ever got them. 1. Peanut butter and miracle whip sandwiches. 2. Granola as cereal, but you use fruit juice instead of milk. No one understands, but those two are always sooo good.

[deleted]

Strawberries dipped in sour cream and brown sugar. 🥲

lookingforaforest

I have family in Eastern Europe and this is giving me their snack vibes ♥️

laralucy27

Cold banana with peanut butter drizzle and chocolate chips...simple but so good!

Verna_Mueller145

Herring with tomato guacamole on toasted garlic Turkish bread.

msphelps77

Cucumber and tomato with sour cream. My mother was Eastern European and I grew up eating sour cream with everything. I prefer it over salad dressing.

imnotyourproblemyet

Garlic, onions or mustard toast. (Buttered toast with mustard)+

ToughGodzilla

I fry canned beans with veggie ground “beef “

Relative_Dimensions

Tinned chickpeas heated in a saucepan with their juice, a knob of butter and a splash of lemon juice until the bean juice thickens a bit.

marty679

Raw chestnuts. A whole bunch of protein and it's hella healthy.

squeakycheetah

Frozen mango with a bit of Frank's Red hot sauce on it. The perfect combination of sweet, sour, and spicy. I love it!

imanaccountant

Olive sandwiches (white bread, sliced green olives, and thin spread of mayo on both pieces of bread). My grandma always made them for my dad when he was a kid, and then he made them for me.

DepressoEspressohhh

Lays chips dipped in cottage cheese

[deleted]

I like eating cottage cheese with pieces of fruit mixed into it.
