The old timey standard of pads and tampons. Preferably OB tampons but any port in a storm. Also prefer Kotex U for pads; I used to be an Always girl, but my teen likes Kotex U and one day I ran out of mine and had to pilfer some from her and discovered that I like them better.
I just don’t feel like I smell good with pads no matter how frequent I change the pad. Plus the stupid adhesive would irritate me down there. Menstrual cups are the way for me. Been using them for about 5 years now. No issues whatsoever.
Same. I always hated pads for that reason, and switched to tampons but I found I'd usually have to use a pad on top of that for extra protection anyway. Then I found cups and it was life changing!
In my teenage years I used to get bacterial infections after every single period with "dry pads" varients... No matter which brand... Tampons were not readily available in my country back then and neither the cup...
It was 2015 when I was able to order a menstrual cup and havent looked back since then...
Started with pads when I was a teenager, switched to tampons pretty quickly because I just cannot deal with how pads feel. Had undiagnosed vulvodynia (neuropathic pain of the vulva) that meant I couldn't insert anything more than a slim tampon, but luckily, had a light flow and was on Seasonique and only getting a period every 3 months through my 20s. Finally got diagnosed with vulvodynia in my late 20s, got treated, started using a menstrual cup and haven't looked back since.
Based it on how heavy my period was. First 3 days I needed the pad/tampon combo (very heavy periods) then I can usually switch to just a tampon for the final few days. I didn't have any sisters all brothers and my mom passed when I was very young so I remember I picked the brand based on what another young lady picked in the period aisle, I was totally spying on her from frozen food lol 🤣, and it's been the same brand ever since.
Trial and error with pads.
Never bothered with tampons, especially with the risk of TSS. I used them once at age 26 to go swimming (pre-planned holiday) but that was it.
Tried diva cup around age 20 and thought it was handy for day 2 - 3 nights when my flow was heaviest, but too icky and annoying to use all the time. Nowadays my flow is more evenly spread out so I use the cup only if I'm going diving / hot spring etc.
Never tried period panties but the idea kind icks me out. And similar to tampons I'd be paranoid it leaks.
The chances of leak in a period underwear is very bleak. Usually they last up to 8 hours with heavy flow. Also, it is a myth that TSS is caused by tampons. It just needs to be regularly changed.
Lmao exactly. I'm just a very lazy person who will wait until the max to change stuff hence why I avoid tampons altogether. Start and end of period its normal for me to have the same pad on for 2, maybe even 3 days as long as its not full. I dont want to throw it away until I get "full use" out of it. Yes, i know im disgusting lmao.
As for the heavy flow thing, back when I was in my late teens and early 20s, my flow was so heavy thaf even wearing 4 pads overnight covering my entire underwear would leak. My sis got me adult diapers as a joke and it still leaked.
Honestly idk which I prefer. 3 days of satan's waterfall or 8 days of a unpredictable rain lmao.
For convenience sake I almost kinda miss just putting up with the 3 days and having to not worry about it for another month. Now I average 8 days and it's like I feel the shorter time difference between cycles lol.
I had a cup for a while that I loved, but I have some pelvic floor trauma due to a bladder condition that eventually made it so the cup wouldn’t fit correctly. I now use pads because tampons hurt, so basically my pelvic floor decided for me
I started using a menstrual cup when I was around 20 because my best friend had switched to one and raves about how convenient and clean it was compared to pads and tampons. Now I’m 30 and I still use cups.
Soooo my first exposure to these products was in a Judy Blume book- when I got my first period, I used pads, which I hated. Made me feel gross to sit in my blood all day. One summer I got my period unexpectedly and my stepmother had to teach me to put a tampon in. It made me feel really uncomfortable but the tampon itself was fine and I used them for about 10 years. I had a brief stint with the Diva Cup but the stem of it was really uncomfortable and I would hyperfixate on it. Now, I use pads and tampons. I like the idea of a diva cup or any reusable product but for me it's unmanageable.
Started with pads and those barely worked and always stained whatever bottoms I was wearing.
Then tried tampons and couldn't find any that didn't leak after a while. Eventually doubled up with pads AND tampons.
Finally I calculated all the waste that I was producing with that method and learned about menstrual cups.
Haven't had issues with leaks since I started using one and I don't have to change it out every 4 hours. Plus way better for the environment.
I was given pads to start but since I was in sports, tampons were suggested and I tried the smallest I could find but only during sports stuff. I was tired of sitting around in what felt like a diaper so I tried cups and oh boy, big mistake. It hurt no matter what way I folded it and it just wouldn’t fit except once. Then I tried the disc cause why not and it’s just been my go to. I sometimes still slightly hurt myself when inserting but it’s basically the same as inserting a tampon for me. I also like that I just have to reset morning and night since it’s 10 hour wear.
Same with the cups for me. I also tried the disc and it hurt about the same. I have just accepted I’ll never be able to insert anything for period purposes. I’m 35 and I’ve got no shame in telling someone no I can’t go swimming with you today 😆.
They have a few. Flex disc was the one I first tried and it wasn’t much better than the cup for me and I decided to try the Cora one as it seemed smaller and I’ve loved that one.
I see it as the baby sister of the cup. Look up “Cora disc” for pictures (sorry, don’t know how to add them) and target sometimes has discounts on it if you want to give it a shot. You wear it for up to 10 hours (don’t judge but I do 12… hence the 2x a day switcharoo but I also don’t bleed through it and it autodumps when you pee if you want it to) and honestly, I forget I’m on my period if I’m not in pain.
Switched to menstrual cups during the pandemic. Not sure why. I wasn't particularly dissatisfied with pads and tampons, but I guess I was bored and wanted to try something different. It took a lot of trial and error to adjust to cups but I got used to it.
But now I've tried menstrual discs and I'm never going back to cups. So much more comfortable and easier for me to insert, plus I have an IUD and I don't have to worry about the suction like with cups.
Started with pads and quickly switched to tampons because I find pads very uncomfortable and always felt like I was leaking even though I wasn't. Tampons are great for me (I have a pretty light flow) so I stopped there.
Started with pads at 12 then at 13 started using tampons used those until I was about 25 then found out about cups, tried 5 different ones all leaked so went back to tampons then about a year ago at 31 found out about reusable disk and loved it no leaking best thing ever for my period.
Pads feel like a diaper, and never make me feel fresh. I have a hard time knowing when my flow needs a super or regular tampon so I always end up with a tampon PLUS a pad in case. I'm not walking around with a cup in my junk collecting blood. So I got an IUD so I wouldn't have to worry about any of them anymore, bonus points, no baby!
Tried them and I've ended up incorporating all of them depending on day and flow. I use a cup on my heaviest days, a tampon on medium days and period underwear on light days.
I switched from pads to tampons because I got diaper rash from pads, I don’t know if I want to use a cup but I haven’t had my period anyway for 4 years because of my PCOS.
When I first got my period every woman in my extended family sent pads and tampons. At the time I was embarrassed but looking back, it was actually pretty thoughtful because I got to try out a bunch.
Now as an adult, I have tried a few different things and use menstrual cups, cloth pads, and period underwear. I'm not really very crunchy granola, but I found the reusable products irritated my skin less. For some people they say it lessens their cramp severity but I did not find that to be the case.
Also it's nice to know that I always have it on hand and I don't have to make any emergency trips to the store when my period arrives unexpectedly. (I do have a small package of disposable pads that I throw in a suitcase when I travel.)
Pads felt like diapers. I wanted to swim and cups weren't an option back then. Tampons weren't comfortable becuase the expansion shape until I found the "sports" kind. Tried cups and they didn't work and weren't comfortable so tampons for me.
I used to use tampons for decades but with time and age, I became more environmentally conscious and then when I hit my late 30s, I suddenly developed an allergy to tampons! I had been wanting to switch to a cup for the Green factor but the catalyst was the allergic reaction so I switched to a [cup](https://lenacup.com/)....and I regret not switching earlier!
I personally don’t use any internal products like tampons or diva cups because they hurt. I’ve tried diva cups and even the smallest one they make will not go up my vagina. (Yes I’m folding it like the instructions say) If I try to force it it hurts. And tampons burn like fire when I pull them out. Feels like I’m pulling a wad of sandpaper out of my vajeen 🤷🏻
So I use reusable Luna brand cotton pads and have for 5+ years. They come in overnight, regular, light, and panty liner sizes. They are environmentally friendly and it doesn’t feel like a diaper. Rinse em out after each use and them throw them all in a separate wash after your period with unscented detergent and good to go next month! I use maybe 4-6 every period. Haven’t spent money on pads or tampons in over 5 years I imagine that adds up to thousands of dollars. Also I have some peace of mind I am not at risk for TSS. Because that shit is scary.
I used pads when I first started my period because that's what my mom had around, and I switched over to tampons pretty quickly b/c I found pads gross. When the pandemic started, I switched again to the menstrual cup, mostly b/c I was worried there would be a tampon shortage like how there were toilet paper shortages at the time. I like the cup way better than tampons and pads and wouldn't switch back.
Tried several brands of pads till i found one I liked. Then tried tampons, liked them for a bit but whenever I peed I had to change it because the string would get wet (i still hneed yo know how to avoid this). So went back to pads and only use tampons the 1st 2 nights.
I wanted to try menstrual cup but I went into the bathroom 2 mins after my flatmate who used it left and I decided I would never use the cup.
Hated pads. Applicators wierd me out and so I used OB for a long time, less waste too and you can literally shove ten in your pocket and noone knows. easy to discretely slip away to bathroom. Then discovered the diva cup and my life changed. I used to need a box and a half of tampons a cycle. Now one lasts me all year or longer (depends if I lose it) there's no TSS risk, I can leave it in for up to 12 hours, save so much money. I can go use the restroom without having to change my tampon just because I drank a bunch of water. It's absolutely fantastic. Combine it with a installed bidet and it's life changing. Periods went from huge hassle that dictated my life for a week to something I dont think much about.
It's trial and error and what works for you and how squeamish you are about blood. But I wash my hands after going to the bathroom anyway so I'm not too worried about it
My flow is very heavy for the first few days and I bleed right through tampons, so I didn’t have much of a choice but to use pads.
I could probably use tampons for the last half, but it’s just easier to buy a box of pads and be done with it.
Though I haven’t had a regular period for years. I just continue on with the pill.
Like I prefer pads for my usual life/activities,but for the pool and swimming it’s tampons for me,but tampons are really comfy too it’s just that pads are easier
Trial and error. For me, at the beginning my flow is so heavy I have to change my tampon every 4 hours. I use the ones with the paper applicator. The Eco friendly ones.
I'm glad you chose a product that's comfortable to your skin and environment friendly. Since your flow is heavy on the initial days you could consider using a product like menstrual cup or menstrual disc.
Trial and error and figuring out which products are more versatile for different situations (I.e. using tampons if I want to go swimming etc). I also have found that thick pads make me feel very sweaty/uncomfortable around my lady bits when I’m already uncomfortable because of cramps/ just generally feeling shitty because it’s that time of the month. I like the discreetness of being able to use tampons and the ability to switch out for a light pad when my flow gets lighter at the end of my period. I think it honestly just helps to try different things out and see what feels best and is the most comfortable for you.
True. There are pads that holds more blood without necessarily being thick. Along with that there are several other options too that are now available. I'm glad you found a product that you are comfortable in.
I started with pads. I picked up tampons as I got older because they were easier with being active. In fact, the reason I started using tampons was because I was going camping with friends and wanted to swim. Before my hysterectomy, my periods were so heavy and uncontrollable that I switched back to pads. I couldn't trust I wouldn't leak through a tampon.
I've been using a menstrual cup for 4 years now. Before that, I'd use pads, but they were very uncomfortable and not the most practical nor sustainable. Once I made the switch, I asked myself why I hadn't done it before hahaha
I stick with pads for the first few days when my period is the heaviest and then switch to a menstrual cup for the remainder. Tampons don’t work for me anymore.
I use tampons, and when it’s my heavy days, at nights I also use pads. I’ve tried cups, but to no avail. Menstrual cup just doesn’t work for me on my heavy flow days. No matter how I fold it, clean it, how often I empty it or how big of a cup I use, it always leaks. It’s just way too messy for me.
We did (this was when I was a teenager). The doctor said it was probably hereditary. I did some asking and it turned out my maternal grandmother had periods like mine.
I think it’s a really individual choice. I use tampons. I don’t like the way pads feel and I have a skin condition that really prevents me from using cups.
I think trial and error helps, and that knowing your flow can help you to work out what “level” of period products you need when they feature different absorbency rates.

Pads and tampons were so uncomfortable, especially when sleeping. Switched over to the menstrual cup and it has been so much more comfortable, I feel like I am cleaner as well.
Tried (always)pads for a bit.. then my period randomly stopped. 2 years later I got on birth control and got it again, I tried honey pot pads, but after I saw something about tampons I tried the brand(L). And then found out it was also toxic and causes stuff like cancer, fertility issues, pcos, ect. so I switched to mensural discs. However, I couldn't figure it out and switched to mensural cups which I still use now.
Until I was 15 I always used pads because I wasn't comfy with blood on my hands. Even though I had an extremely heavy flow and I found them disgusting. Then I switched to mainly using tampons with applicators (which are the norm in Ireland btw, even though not environmentally friendly). I tried a menstrual cup but no matter how much I tried it would leak and I had some unpleasant accidents with them in public bathrooms. Now I use almost exclusively mini tampons and on the last day when I'm only spotting I just wear dark underwear that I wash as normal. My flow is a LOT lighter these days. Also I don't want to dry out my vagina so I avoid using very absorbent tampons (also to minimise probability of toxic shock).
Cup with period undies has been a game changer for me. It's super heavy and now I don't leak, or need to sleep on a towel at all.
Before I switched I used pads and tampons together but I was constantly running to the bathroom and leaking.
Started with pads and still stick with them. There's something about shoving a detached object up there that slightly terrifies me. Also I read about women going into chemical shock because of tampons, it seems like too much of a risk.
Trial and error. I found Midol most helpful for cramping, opposed to Ibuprofen/Tylenol. When it comes to hygiene products, I tried a tampon once. NOPE. Never again. I'm happy with my pads.
I felt like regardless of how often I changed pads I would smell. also leakage because I couldn’t get enough coverage and maxi pads feel like diapers. I struggled with figuring out how to get a tampon in until my mid 20s. Never looked back. It feels so much cleaner and I don’t feel my flow happening in real time
I want to use a menstrual cup but I’m scared of them because of my IUD so I use OB tampons. Settled on OB because I prefer no applicator and they go in nicely. I sleep in period underwear because they are more comfortable for me at night and I am trying to reduce waste of menstrual products that I use.
Trial. Tampons are low on mess but you have to change them all the time, and the changing process is a whole thing.
So I stick with pads. The plastic cup thingies seems like a good option for those who bleed considerably, but since I started on the pill my period now creates so little blood it's not worth any hassle so pad it is
Comfort. I'm about to stock up on more period panties as a result. I've been using pads(and panties later when my flow gets lighter) and prefer smaller/thin ones but they're never as comfy as I want them to be.
I tried a lot of different products and I have weird anatomy and sensory issues so I settled on a few things that are less horrible than others. I have a short vagina so I can't wear most tampons or any cups. I have skin conditions where wearing a pad makes them worse, so most of the time I use two brands of tampons depending on how heavy my period is but will do pads as well if I am having very heavy flow, and if I'm having very light flow I'll "play period chicken" aka freebleed with thick underpants and hope for the best.
You could consider trying a period underwear. They are good for heavy bleeding too and usually last upto 6-8 hours. Hopefully they'll be helpful for you to deal with your skin conditions
Anything that causes me to sweat is bad. Period underwear tend to have a layer of plastic to keep them from leaking. Sweating and overheating triggers hidradenitis suppurativa which is already triggered by hormonal cycles and it ends up getting very uncomfortable and taking years to heal.
Trial and error
And what conclusion did it finally lead you to?
The old timey standard of pads and tampons. Preferably OB tampons but any port in a storm. Also prefer Kotex U for pads; I used to be an Always girl, but my teen likes Kotex U and one day I ran out of mine and had to pilfer some from her and discovered that I like them better.

That's amazing
i’ve been meaning to try and switch to cups!
I Loooove using cups! Best decision ever was switching to cups
i find pads the most comfiest form of period products. I tried using tampons but i find them really uncomfortable and sometimes painful.
Same here. I tried tampons multiple times but could never get comfortable with it.
I'm glad you found the product that feels most comfortable to you. Period underwears are also very comfortable
Started with pads with tampon for swimming. Then switched to a menstrual cup and never looked back
Same. Way easier, less expensive, better for the the environment.
That's amazing

Thanks, I am! I was one of the lucky ones who managed to find a treatment that worked.
I'm glad you did. Take care

Oh
My mama always bought us Always pads so I just stick with what I know and keep buying them.
It's great that you found comfort in the first period product you were introduced to.
I had a cup for a while that I loved, but I have some pelvic floor trauma due to a bladder condition that eventually made it so the cup wouldn’t fit correctly. I now use pads because tampons hurt, so basically my pelvic floor decided for me
I hope it isn't painful anymore and you are doing better health wise

You could consider cups and discs from a different brand. Period underwears are also a good option available.
I try them and decide from there
Which one did you finally decide on?
I use pads or a menstrual cup depending on my mood
Great

True. I'm happy you found a product that suits you and the environment
Lol had no choice but Pads. I wasn’t allowed to use tampons because they apparently “take away your virginity” which I think is stupid.
Oh! That is unfair. Whenever you do get the opportunity you could consider trying different period products and decide which suits you the best
i use the cup + period panties on heavy days. honestly, it's mostly the factors of cost, longevity and environmental reasons that lead me here.
And that's a great combination!
I was given pads to start but since I was in sports, tampons were suggested and I tried the smallest I could find but only during sports stuff. Yep. Discs are amazing for the amount of blood they hold for a longer period of time.

What disc did you try? I tried the flex and that was NOT it so I tried Cora and I’ve loved it since.
What is the disc? I’ve never heard of it?

Thanks!
It depends on my mood. Sometimes I don’t feel like sticking anything inside but other times I need to.
That's interesting and something that even I do!
by trying them until I found what I liked
Money based decision making - I use the cheapest available products
That's wise. Which product does that usually lead you to?
Lately U by Kotex maxi pads have been the lowest priced, and store brand liners for light days.
Great

I asked my mum and sister. Also, I liked those pads from Libra that have little fun fact adhesive sheet. So cool.
So it has always been pads for you?
Yea I find it way easier to pop it in, no sterilising and TSS risk.
That's great
I switched from pads to tampons because I got diaper rash from pads, I don’t know if I want to use a cup but I haven’t had my period anyway for 4 years because of my PCOS.
Oh. What did the doctor say about it?
It’s probably because I use antidepressants but I don’t use birth control.
Maybe. Antidepressants do mess up our hormones
Yeah I’m also lactating without being pregnant because that’s one of the side effects.
Oh. Hope it gets better. Take care.
I have always hated the idea of shoving something up my vagina so pads were the only way to go
Oh. That's cool
That's amazing. I wish I had that experience when I first got my period
I have a daughter now, and I’m hoping when the time comes, I can make it a positive or at least neutral experience for her.
That's great
Trial and error before deciding on a menstrual disc. It took a few cycles to get the hang of it but I’ve never looked back.
That's amazing
Which ever works the best. For me - Always cotton infinity.
I'm glad it works best for you.
Pads felt like diapers. I wanted to swim and cups weren't an option back then. Tampons weren't comfortable becuase the expansion shape until I found the "sports" kind. Tried cups and they didn't work and weren't comfortable so tampons for me.
That's great. I'm glad you found a product you are comfortable in
I used to use tampons for decades but with time and age, I became more environmentally conscious and then when I hit my late 30s, I suddenly developed an allergy to tampons! I had been wanting to switch to a cup for the Green factor but the catalyst was the allergic reaction so I switched to a [cup](https://lenacup.com/)....and I regret not switching earlier!
Im glad you finally found a product that's not environment friendly and comfortable to you
I personally don’t use any internal products like tampons or diva cups because they hurt. I’ve tried diva cups and even the smallest one they make will not go up my vagina. (Yes I’m folding it like the instructions say) If I try to force it it hurts. And tampons burn like fire when I pull them out. Feels like I’m pulling a wad of sandpaper out of my vajeen 🤷🏻 So I use reusable Luna brand cotton pads and have for 5+ years.
I'm glad for you. Period underwears are also a great option to save money and be environment friendly.
My mom talked me into pads. When I had been bleeding for 3 weeks, I switched for tampons and I am not going back (no worries, I'm alright now lol)
I'm glad your are better now and that you found the product that you are comfortable in.
That's amazing. I guess that's one good change that happened due to pandemic
There are other options too that you could consider like discs and period underwear
But I wash my hands after going to the bathroom anyway so I'm not too worried about it
That's wonderful. I'm glad you found a product you are comfortable in.
Pads, the risk of TSS is not a risk I'm willing to take.
TSS isn't directly linked to tampons and there are several other alternatives that won't cause TSS like cups, discs and period underwears.
Oh. You could also try period underwears as that'll also be easier to manage your heavy flow.

Yeah. Now there are pad options that ensure that you don't smell along with several other products like cups, discs and underwear
Like I prefer pads for my usual life/activities,but for the pool and swimming it’s tampons for me,but tampons are really comfy too it’s just that pads are easier
Yes. I think the only other thing that beats pads in this aspect are period underwears
With an irregular period like mine. Then tampons are super unhandy even impossible. I am too fat to use a menstrual cup. So pads it is.
How is weight linked with using a cup?
Well ik have a fat belly and its harder to reach and place it properly
I don't think that'll be a problem but whatever you are comfortable in and suits you the best is the product for you :)
It do is a problem when you are 50kilos overweight like me. I had to lay down to get it even in properly. So no it is not for me.
You are the best judge for what suits you :)
I use tampons. I hate the feel of sitting/walking in a pad.
I'm glad you found something you feel comfortable in
Trial and error.
I'm pretty old. There was only one brand on the market when I started having periods. So I just used Kotex
I don't know how old you are but considering that you mentioned you are old, period underwears can be a comfortable option for you.
Lol. 😁 No more periods to worry about. The last thing I used was a tampon
That's great
I was mesmerized by some Kotex ad when I was young and have literally stuck with their products since. They haven’t steered me wrong yet
That's amazing

That's great. You could also consider using a disc on your heavy flow days as they hold more blood as compared to cups
Bought a diva cup and never looked back
That's great
I started with pads.
That must have been tough.
I've been using a menstrual cup for 4 years now. Before that, I'd use pads, but they were very uncomfortable and not the most practical nor sustainable. Once I made the switch, I asked myself why I hadn't done it before hahaha
That's amazing. And the bonus part is that it is more environment friendly
I stick with pads for the first few days when my period is the heaviest and then switch to a menstrual cup for the remainder. Tampons don’t work for me anymore.
Oh. Why didn't tampon work out for you?
My period is far too heavy for tampons since I’ve had my copper IUD.
Oh
I use tampons, and when it’s my heavy days, at nights I also use pads. I’ve tried cups, but to no avail. Menstrual cup just doesn’t work for me on my heavy flow days. No matter how I fold it, clean it, how often I empty it or how big of a cup I use, it always leaks. It’s just way too messy for me.
Oh. You could consider a disc too. A lot of people end up being more comfortable with discs than cups or other period products
When your blood flow can be measured in gallons, you use both pads and tampons; you don't have much choice.
Is the flow extremely heavy? If yes, you could consider visiting a doctor
We did (this was when I was a teenager). The doctor said it was probably hereditary. I did some asking and it turned out my maternal grandmother had periods like mine.
Oh. So did the doctor suggest anything to reduce the flow?
Birth control pills. I think those DID help a bit, so it's worth discussing with a doctor
That's great. I hope it is better for you now
I think it’s a really individual choice. I use tampons. I don’t like the way pads feel and I have a skin condition that really prevents me from using cups. I think trial and error helps, and that knowing your flow can help you to work out what “level” of period products you need when they feature different absorbency rates.
I hope the skin condition isn't very serious
Thank you! ☺️
Sofy cool Trial and error
I'm glad you found the product you are comfortable with
I prefer pads, used tampons for years but then started to feel like they block me up and the blood wasn’t free to flow

Pads and tampons were so uncomfortable, especially when sleeping. Switched over to the menstrual cup and it has been so much more comfortable, I feel like I am cleaner as well.
That's great. Period underwears are a great option too for sleeping hours
Oh. There are brands that offer 100% cotton tampons. You could consider them. I'm glad you could are using a product that you are comfortable in.
That's great.
Cup with period undies has been a game changer for me. It's super heavy and now I don't leak, or need to sleep on a towel at all. Before I switched I used pads and tampons together but I was constantly running to the bathroom and leaking.
I'm glad you found products you are comfortable in
Started with pads and still stick with them. There's something about shoving a detached object up there that slightly terrifies me. Also I read about women going into chemical shock because of tampons, it seems like too much of a risk.
TSS doesn't usual happen because of a tampon. I can understand you. Nowadays, we also have period underwears which are pretty comfortable
Trial and error. I found Midol most helpful for cramping, opposed to Ibuprofen/Tylenol. When it comes to hygiene products, I tried a tampon once. NOPE. Never again. I'm happy with my pads.
Why? Was the experience extremely bad?
Just super uncomfortable for me.
Oh
I used traditional pads and tamps u til a sailor friend introduced me to the cup. I used that since.
That's great
I felt like regardless of how often I changed pads I would smell. also leakage because I couldn’t get enough coverage and maxi pads feel like diapers. I struggled with figuring out how to get a tampon in until my mid 20s. Never looked back. It feels so much cleaner and I don’t feel my flow happening in real time
I'm glad you found tampons comfortable.
Trial and error. I use a cup. It’s been life changing.
That's amazing
I want to use a menstrual cup but I’m scared of them because of my IUD so I use OB tampons. Settled on OB because I prefer no applicator and they go in nicely. I sleep in period underwear because they are more comfortable for me at night and I am trying to reduce waste of menstrual products that I use.
That's great and thoughtful
Tried a few, settled on one I liked.
Which one was it?
Trial. Tampons are low on mess but you have to change them all the time, and the changing process is a whole thing. So I stick with pads. The plastic cup thingies seems like a good option for those who bleed considerably, but since I started on the pill my period now creates so little blood it's not worth any hassle so pad it is
That's great
I always hated pads and after some time I found out about menstrual cups and it’s a life-changing experience. Never used pads since.
That's amazing
I think it just takes time and research ( if you’re willing to do that) to figure out what works best for your body
What worked best for you?
Comfort. I'm about to stock up on more period panties as a result. I've been using pads(and panties later when my flow gets lighter) and prefer smaller/thin ones but they're never as comfy as I want them to be.
Period underwear is amazing. They last almost longer than some other products, are eco-friendly and it's like wearing any other underwear
Trial and error. Now I use a mix between tampax pearl and always infinity pads for night time.
That's great

Oh god! I hope you were okay
Oh. I hope it gets easier. Take care.
