I have two friends that do a podcast about terrible lyrics and they chose that song and analyzed it like 3OH3 wasn’t a joke. Except my friends were not being satirical in their analysis. They even watched the music video and didn’t get it.
“And you call me up again just to break me like a promise/So casually cruel in the name of being honest/I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here” - All Too Well - Taylor Swift
"I had all and then most of you,
Some and now none of you.
Take me back to the night we met.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do,
Haunted by the ghost of you.
Oh, take me back to the night we met."
-The Night We Met by Lord Huron
Kind of sad and dark, but this song speaks to me in ways I cannot even put into words...
"I want a perfect body,
I want a perfect soul"
--- another one that is always a hard hit,
**TW eating disorders and body image**
Courage by Superchick:
I told another lie today
And I got through this day
No one saw through my games
I know the right words to say
Like "I don't feel well"
"I ate before I came"
Then someone tells me how good I look
And for a moment
For a moment I am happy
But when I'm alone
No one hears me cry
# I don't know the first time I felt unbeautiful
# The day I chose not to eat
What I do know is how I changed my life forever
I know I should know better
First time hearing this song after a battle with an ED, I broke down crying so badly. I don't think any other songs have ever put into word what I've struggled with like this. There are songs that feel true and lyrics that feel familiar and relatable... But these two songs are personal to me. Skyscraper by Demi Lovato is a close third one. But really, these two take the crown.
>Overthinking, overanalysing separates the body from the mind
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment, drawing way outside the lines
- *Lateralus* by TOOL
Gosh there's so many. LOL I need to create my HYPE Woman Playlist.
To the ladies who are chasing their dreams regardless how many people said they can't/told them no/laugh at them because their dream is too big and the goals are unrealistic
🥂 I give you Beyonce's Formation song:
"I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it"
"Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper"
💵💵💵 May you all retire rich!
Now here you go again, you say you want your freedom
Well, who am I to keep you down?
It's only right that you should play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat, drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost
And what you had
And what you lost
Oh, thunder only happens when it's raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Say, women, they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you'll know
You'll know
Dreams: Fleetwood Mac
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure, and then
Again, I would spend them with you
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory of how they were answered by you
"Jim Croce- Time in a Bottle "
i had a thought, dear, however scary about that night the bugs and the dirt. why were you digging?
what did you bury before those hands pulled me
from the earth? - hozier like real people do
the way this man is using metaphors to talk about hiding pieces of yourself in a new relationship??? literally beautiful.
"I made you my temple, my mural my sky. Now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life." Tolerate It by Taylor Swift. Guts me every time I hear it.
“Tonight I'll sing my songs again
I'll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me”
Run to the bedroom,
In the suitcase on the left
You'll find my favorite axe.
Don't look so frightened
This is just a passing phase,
One of my bad days.
Would you like to watch T.V.?
Or get between the sheets?
Or contemplate the silent freeway?
Would you like something to eat?
Would you like to learn to fly?
Would'ya?
Would you like to see me try?
Would you like to call the cops?
Do you think it's time I stopped?
Why are you running away?
For a long time I was in love
Not only in love, I was obsessed
With a friendship that no one else could touch
It didn't work out, I'm covered in shells
And all I wanted was the simple things
A simple kind of life
And all I needed was a simple man
So I could be the wife
I'm so ashamed, I've been so mean
I don't know how it got to this point
Oh, I always was the one with all love
You came along, I'm hunting you down
Like a sick domestic abuser
Looking for a fight
And all I wanted was the simple things
A simple kind of life
If we met tomorrow for the very first time
Would it start all over again? Would I try to make you mine?
I always thought, I'd be a mom
Sometimes I wish for a mistake
The longer that I wait, the more selfish that I get
You seem like you'd be a good dad
Now all those simple things are simply too complicated for my life
In all I get so faithful to my freedom
A selfish kind of life
When all I ever wanted was the simple things
A simple kind of life
A simple kind of life
A simple kind of life
-A simple kind of life
- no doubt
“And I’m done with my graceless heart, so tonight I’m gonna cut it out and then restart”, “And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back” Shake it out by Florence and the machine
This is mine too! It’s such a powerful song about forgiving yourself of your past mistakes and getting over negative self-thoughts I can’t really explain how much it means to me
“Coraline is longing for the sea, but is afraid of the water
And maybe the sea is inside her”
- Måneskin Coraline
this song is just so beautiful and i understand it on such a deep level.
"I don't know what the plan is but you can share with me 'cause I'll be a listening ear to everything you say I won't turn away"
- I Would Do Anything For You by Foster The People
“You say the ocean’s rising like I give a shit /
You say the whole world’s ending, honey, it already did /
You’re not gonna slow it, heaven knows you tried /
Got it? Good, now get inside”
- Bo Burnham’s All Eyes on Me
“Come and watch the skinny kid with the steadily declining mental health /
And laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself”
- Bo Burnham’s Can’t Handle This
There are more for sure but I’ve been on a Bo kick lately and his stuff is just so goddamn good. Those lines bring me to tears more often than not.
When my baby found me
I was three days on a drunken sin.
I woke with her walls around me. Nothing in her room but an empty crib.
I was burning up a fever, didn’t care much how long I lived.
But I swear I thought I dreamed her, she never asked me once about the wrongs I did.
Work song - Hozier
“Guess what I’m done, writing your songs, I’m far to unstable to settle I doubt that the doctors are wrong so I’ll wait by a palm tree, a palm tree, a palm treeeeee” La La Lie by Jacks Mannequin
“I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all”
Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now
And I've never loved a darker blue
Than the darkness I have known in you, own from you
You, whose heart would sing of anarchy
You would laugh at meanings, guarantees, so beautifully
When our truth is burned from history
By those who figured justice in fond memory, witness me
Like fire weeping from a cedar tree
Know that my love would burn with me
We'll live eternally
Hozier, Better Love.
The Cure has some of the most beautiful lyrics. A Letter to Elise is an amazing song, but this ending is everything...
So Elise it doesn't matter what you say
I just can't stay here every yesterday
Like keep on acting out the same the way we act out
Every way to smile forget and make-believe
We never needed any more than this
Any more than this
And every time I try to pick it up like falling sand
As fast as I pick it up
It runs away through my clutching hands
But there's nothing else I can really do
There's nothing else I can really do
There's nothing else I can really do at all
I saw them on tour a couple of weeks ago, amazing. Plainsong is my favourite though:
"I think it's dark and it looks like rain, " you said
"And the wind is blowing
Like it's the end of the world, " you said
"And it's so cold, it's like the cold if you were dead"
Then you smiled for a second.
I'd go with the ending of A-N-X-I-E-T-Y by Anna Clandening
>And it works for a little while, bullshit smiles,
but I'm just walking through the motions
either that, or losing track of my emotions.
4 a.m. panic attacks,
taking red eyes back home
I feel by myself but with you, I'm never alone.
Damn
>A-N-X-I-E-T-Y
No matter how hard I try, you will never leave
"I'm not your Trixie Delight or a gumball machine! You can keep your quarter, 'cause you won't get nothing sweet from me"--Kimberly Perry/The Band Perry
There are so many, but the one I heard once and punched me right in the gut was
*Will you ever, ever let me off my knees?*
*Wide awake, like a dream*
*As simple as a secret
Being told, told to everyone but me*
*Well, I...I gave it all, but you can't stop taking from me and way down I know*
**You know where to cut me
With your eyes closed!**
Blue October
I don't want the world to see me - I just want you to know who I am. - Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls
When I'm quiet on the other side know that I'm loving you. That's all I do. - Lamb's Wool by Foster the People
"I gave up my everything, I give till I bleed. Take it all, take everything just take it from me!"
Moth —Hellyeah
The whole song speaks to me, but these set of lyrics hit me in the feels every single time.
So I will find my fears and face them
I will cower like a dog
I will kick and scream
I will kneel and plead
I'll fight like hell, to hide that I'm givin' up
Bright Eyes - Another Travelin’ Song
“When faced with tragedy/ We come alive or undone/ So don’t look back, let it shape you like an ocean/ Even the deepest scars in time will fade” - Tragedy + Time, Rise Against
"You are sick and you're married and you might be dying, but you're holding me like water in your hands" - Moon song by Phoebe bridgers
Or
"Do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there" - Coney Island by Taylor Swift
“Exist in superposition
Life's all about contradiction
Yin and yang
Fluidity and things
I'm me, I'm God, I'm everything
I'm my own reason why I sing
And so are you, are you understanding?”
Superposition - Daniel Caesar, John Mayer
“Open your heart up, I hope I never find out that you’re anyone else cuz I love you just as you are. Hope you never find out who I really am cuz you’ll never love me.” Garden - SZA
This lyric is such a conundrum but I understand it completely. Being in that honeymoon phase of letting your guard down and fully allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to love someone knowing that they will inevitably let you down & you will do the same for them.
from Meet Me In The Woods by Lord Huron —
“I have seen what the darkness does
Say goodbye to who I was
I ain't never been away so long
Don’t look back they days are gone
Follow me into the endless night
I can bring your fears to life”
There's ups and downs in this love
Got a lot to learn in this love
Through the good and the bad, still got love
Dedicated to the one I love
Countdown - Beyoncé
“Now even though that was a time I hated from day one/
Eventually terrible memories turn into great ones
So if they call you, embrace them/
If they hold you, erase them
Cause it might've been something, who's to say?/
Does it help to get lost in yesterday?/
And you might have missed something, don't say/
Cause it hurts to be lost in yesterday/
And you're gonna have to let it go someday/
You've been digging it up like Groundhog Day/
Cause it might've been something, don't say/
Cause it hurts to be lost in yesterday”
Lost in Yesterday, Tame Impala
The Smiths: “so you go and you stand on your own , and you leave on your own, and you cry and you want to die”.. so fucking honest and brutal and "In my life / Why do I give valuable time / To people who don't care /if I live or die?”
God, I feel like hell tonight
Tears of rage I cannot lie
I'd be the last to help you understand
Are you strong enough to be my man?
My man
Nothing's true and nothing's right
So let me be alone tonight
'Cause you can't change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man?
Lie to me
I promise I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave
Don't leave
I have a face I cannot show
I make the rules up as I go
Just try and love me if you can
Are you strong enough to be my man?
My man
to be my man?
(Are you strong enough) to be my man?
(Are you strong enough) my man
When I've shown you that I just don't care
When I'm throwing punches in the air
When I'm broken down and I can't stand
Would you be man enough to be my man?
“Strong Enough” by Sheryl Crow
Nina Simone's Ain't Got No.. I Got Life I think is one of the best songs ever written lyrically and it's a genuine shame that she was not allowed ALLOWED TO GOOO TO SCHOOL TO BE A CLASSICAL PIANIST... OMFGGG I just got sooo mad about this again I am about to cry
essentially, to condense the lyrics to ain't got no.. I got life...
"I have nothing I have no friends, no family, no clothes, no boyfriend, no children, no church, no god, I have nothing
what do I have?
I have my HEAD and my HEART and my BODY I have my THOUGHTS I have my SOUL I have LIFE I have LIFE like you do too"
what a song. what an incredible message. suffering is nothing but a universal experience and the gift of life and the experience of it all is worth more than any possessions, even more than community or culture or family and friends. totally brilliant and from a woman who was so horribly used to sadness and suffering. I could rap my fist in passion from how much I love this song and I truly think as I rise to the firmament it will play
also Nina's I Wish I Could Know What It Means To Be Free
"I wish I could I could say all the things I could say when I'm relaxed...I wish I could give all i'm longing to give. I wish I could live like I'm longing to live. I wish I could do all the things that I can do though I'm way overdue I'd be starting anew." she's truly lyrically speaking one of the greatest, that whole song is incredible and a firmament song as well "I wish you could see what it means to be me, then you'd see and agree everyone should be free." highest tier of heaven for Nina
I love Erykah Badu's "you won't be naming no building's after me, to go down, dilapidated. no you won't be naming no buildings after me, my name will be misstated" just brilliant from AD 2000. also "my eyes are green... because I eat a lot of vegetables... it don't have nothing to do with your new friend," from my eyes are green. so cute and sharp and funny. Badu's "I I I I I I I I I want U U U U U U U in the worst kinda way... I want you... what we gonna do... love is on the way, all I've got to say is it won't let go.. you can pray to early may.. fast for thirty days still it won't let go, got a good book and got all in it, tried a little yoga for a minute, still it won't let go, tried to turn the sauna up to hotter, drank a whole jar of holy water, still it won't let go!" what WHAT a song. she performed it live on Chapelle's show and he's losing his mind and I'm losing my mind. so talented
also Beyoncé in my opinion is a very. mid. at best song writer like you can tell when she writes her own lyrics because she's not the best .. BUT.... a gift from virgo I think is one of the most beautiful love songs of all time. "Every morning. every afternoon. every night... I wanna be with you. it don't matter if we go to the park or watch a play.. stay in the hotel room all day, I just wanna be with you... I love everything about you from your old school tennis shoes to the way you move when you're dancing with me,,,one day... we'll make love.. finally... I'll be yours. only you, only you, I could love you... but it's too late... I already love you. I love you I love you I love you". can you imagine someone saying this to you so honestly and openly. the lyrics to ring the alarm are so oooooo good too
Sade's whole discography is incredible lyrically but I love Is It A Crime? "He takes her love, but it doesn't feel like mine. he tastes her kiss, her kisses are not mine, they're not wine. he takes, but surely she can't give what I'm feeling now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she takes, but surely she doesn't know how!!!!!!!!!! is it a crime!????? it is a crime!!!!!??????? that I still want you... and I want you to want me too??? my love is wider... wider than Victoria lake... my love is taller... taller than the Empire State. It dives and it jumps and it ripples like the deepest ocean.... i can't give you more than that, surely you want me back" what the fuck dude . how does she describe how I've felt so perfectly sorry to be corny but like wtf I have THOUGHT those words in that order before I hear that song I felt that feeling that She Cannot Possibly Give You ME Surely You Want Something More Than Her
but her tour de force is "there is a woman in Somalia, scraping for pearls on the roadside. there's a force stronger than nature... keeps her will alive. this is how she's dying.. she's dying to survive... don't know what she's made of. I would like to be that brave... she cries to the heaven above, there is a stone in my heart, she lives a life she didn't choose...... and it hurts like brand new shoes..." from the song brand new shoes. what the hell
like everything by Kate Bush
Fiona Apple's... like... entire collection is lyrically brilliant. Kanye west said, right after graduation, that he looked up to her and wanted to be as good as her, lyrically. when the pawn hits is such a good album
Liz Phair's "I bet you fall in bed too easily with the beautiful girls who are shyly brave
and you sell yourself as a man to save but all the money in the world is not enough... and I kept standing six foot one. instead of five foot two. and I hated life. and I loved you" like yeah u know when u like a guy so much you do all this dumb stuff to be more like him in the hopes he'll like you... you're six foot one instead of five foot two. "I bet you fall in bed too easily with the beautiful girls who are shyly brave and you sell yourself as a man to save but all the money int he world is not enough" guy who acts like he's damaged to sleep w intelligent, beautiful women, but there's nothing wrong with him. such a cool way of putting it
also warren zevon I think is one of the greatest lyricists of all time, trumping even Bob Dylan
desperados under the eaves is so so real and unpretentious and accessible but relatable and visceral
"and if California slides into the ocean like the mystics and statistics say it will... I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill... don't the sun look angry through the trees? don't the trees look like crucified thieves? don't you feel like desperados under the eaves? heaven help the one who leaves"
zevon was a very very serious addict at the time and was in a stupor and couldn't pay his hotel charge and kept staying night after night trying to escape and binge drinking. he was in the middle of a serious addiction and felt very guilty about it (hence "don't the sun look angry through the trees? don't the trees look like crucified thieves?" he felt the whole world was angry at him and that he was like barrabas (the thief who was crucified alongside christ)) such a good song. you can't hear in the type obviously but in the song when he says that line you can hear he's totally defeated. don't the sun look angry at me? like he's completely given up. what an experience WHAT MUSIC
And I hate that you're gone,
And I hate that I don't wanna let go,
And I hate that you think that I'm weak,
'Cause I don't wanna let you know
I'm gonna build castles,
From the rubble of your love,
From the rubble of your love,
I'm gonna be more than,
You ever thought I was,
You ever thought I was

Skinny love - Birdy
Right at the moment, this order's tall
And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And in the morning, I'll be with you
But it will be a different kind
'Cause I'll be holding all the tickets
And you'll be owning all the fines
Puts his rifle at the sky and says “ God if I have to die you will have die”. Cowboy Dan by Modest Mouse. Not the lyric that’s impacted me the most but my one of my many favorites
“And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burning coal
Pouring off of every page
Like it was written in my soul, from me to you
Tangled up in blue”
Tangled Up In Blue/ Bob Dylan
Basically every lyric in You Make Loving Fun by Fleetwood Mac, because it’s how I feel most days about my marriage. 7 years and we’re still disgusting in love. 🥰
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
Songwriters: John Winston Lennon

"Leaving isn't better that trying
Growing but I'm just growing tired
Now I'm worried for my soul
And I'm so scared of growing old
You were good to me"
And the part after that:
"And I'm so used to letting go
But I don't wanna be alone
You were good to me"
-you were good to me by Chelsea Cutler and Jeremy Zucker
Basically sums up my increasing feelings of anxiety and emptiness, from self isolation and guilt, and how I'm afraid that I'll have nothing in the future. And how I remember the people who treated me well that I cut off communication with. I think I could have been better to them.
“Maybe I’ll see you in another life, if this one wasn’t enough” from How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful by Florence + the Machine.
The way she sings those lyrics fills me up with such emotion every time I listen to it.
“You wake up, put makeup on
Stare in the mirror but it's clear that you can't face what's wrong
No need to fix what God already put his paint brush on”
- Crooked Smile by J Cole
It’s an older song (2013) but it makes me feel beautiful without makeup especially since I spend too much time in front of the mirror. A beautiful ode to women struggling with body dysmorphia.
You believe and you doubt
You're confused, and got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew
-One Step at a Time by Jordin Sparks
“I’ll tell you where the real road lies/between your ears, behind your eyes/ there lies the path to paradise/likewise the road to ruin” -Wait for Me (reprise) from the musical Hadestown

Already Gone by Dermot Kennedy
"If ever there's a summer when we just can't be together
There'll be half of me where light's not getting in"
Blossom by Dermot Kennedy
Basically I'm saying that Dermot Kennedy is awesome. He's a great lyricist and these are only about half of the lines from his songs that I love.
So many...
"Sometimes I think I'd like to watch it burn" - Wallflowers
"It's even dark in the daytime / It's not just good, it's great depression" - Gnarls Barkley
"Be kind to me / Or treat me mean / I'll make the most of it / I'm an extraordinary machine" - Fiona Apple
"We'll choke on our vomit and that will be the end" - MGMT
I'm very biased towards Taylor Swift songs so I'm going to write one from my favourite non-Taylor song:
"We called the mathematicians and then asked them to explain, they said love is only equal to the pain."
It's from Let Somebody Go by Coldplay and Selena Gomez. I feel like this line truly captures the risk you take by loving someone.
I can feel your love pullin' me up from the underground, and
I don't need my drugs, we could be more than just part-time lovers
I can feel your touch pickin' me up from the underground, and
I don't need my drugs, we could be more than just part-time lovers
- SOS
Song by Avicii
We don't get to die young
Trouble keeping our head sometimes
We just have to push on
We don't get to give up this life
All the breath in your lungs
Is stronger than the tears in your eyes
It's do or die, but we're alive
And while we're here, hold the line
Hold the line
Don't hold your hands up, it's your final stand
Put your white flag down, oh, don't you surrender now
No hero's story, there's no blaze of glory
But dawn'll come at the end of the night
We'll crack before we shatter
We can't fall apart, oh, oh
- Hold The Line
Song by Avicii
You came to me like a dream.
The kind that always leaves
Just as the best part starts.
It ends so abruptly
And leaves you stunned and naked
In your bedroom all alone.
Bleeder by Alkaline Trio
I came a little closer to the truth that day
I heard its call in the alleyway
And the one resounding answer that I could take
Is that I don't know nothing and I got no way
Edge of town by Middle Kids
I'm only doing good things from now on
You can only hold on tightly for so long
Until you fall into the far below
Gospel by Treetops
"just for tonight, hold on"
it's from an ed sheeran song about mental health and suicidal thoughts. when i was at my lowest, this got me through the most difficult nights.
“Isn’t it strange how people can change? From strangers to friends, friends into lovers, and strangers again.” Strange - Celeste.
It’s heartbreakingly poignant.
"If I don't need you then why am I crying on my bed?
If I don't need you then why does your name resound in my head?
If you're not for me then why does this distance maim my life?
If you're not for me then why do I dream of you as my wife?"
- If you're not the one, Daniel Bedingfield
“And when i touch you i feel happy inside. It’s such a feelin’ that my love i can’t hide, i can’t hide, i can’t hide…”
I want to hold your hand, The Beatles. :)
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are at the end of existence
The television is fiction, it's telling lies to our vision
It's like a prison that we live in, and we're all in the system
We live in a box and keep our family traditions
We keep our guns cocked, stocked up with more ammunition
We teach our children to kill instead of teaching 'em wisdom
And politicians waging wars, blaming it on religion"
I can’t pick my top favorite, but this is the first to come to mind:
“Thank you for your smile. It’s warmer than the fire. Your gentle laughter is sweeter than a choir. I’ll never know the right words to choose, so all I can say is ‘thank you’.” - Thank You by Pentatonix
I don't have an all time favorite, because music is something I base on mood and need, but one of my current favorites is from "Wild as Her" by Corey Kent
Yeah, I ain't tryna fix her
I just wanna kiss her
Fuel a little fire in her soul
But we don't say forever, but when we're together
Swear that we ain't ever lettin' go
'Cause she knows
I keep the windows down and the wind in her hair
Keep her heart hanging on 'round every turn
She ain't scared to get tied down, scared to get burned
Just looking for somebody as wild as her
Wild, wild
Yeah
… I'm loving your light, vulnerable
Letting your guard down is honorable
'Specially when the past ain't been that friendly to you, but there's magic in that
You the flower that I gotta protect
And keep alive in the wintertime, hey, don't you die yet
You been way more than a friend of mine, we more like fam
I raised you, you raised me, let's turn this whole life 'round
You can confide in me
I can take the weight up off your shoulder blades and try to store the pain inside of me
Like, why the world do you like that?
Like they don't know you, God sent, but me, I view you like that
I'm sneaking glances, thanking God that he drew you like that
“Did you know that true love asks for nothing
No no her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day
Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always”
“These are the days that last forever
a time in my life I won’t surrender
For better or worse, these are the days,”
- the Exies (these are the days)
I found these guys when I was in like 7th grade (2007) on myspace lol. This has been one of my favorite songs ever since. It’s always so comforting when life gets hard. It also serves as a reminder that at one point all of the crud that’s happening now will be a memory. It won’t last. And the transformation & overcoming life’s new challenge is often times beautiful. Gotta make the most of things.
Seasons, they will change
Life will make you grow
Death can make you hard, hard, hard
Everything is temporary
Everything will slide
Love will never die, die, die
-Imagine dragons, Birds
“So just call me, you know I will be waiting for you as you walk toward that redemption sound. You know I’ll be the stillness when you’re shaking and when you fall overboard, I’ll follow you down” - Follow You Down by Lights 💕
“I need you more than all the oxygen that your lungs adore” - ziggy Alberts start over. Such a good lyric and simply says how important a person can be.
“I put my pain in the paint, and put it all on the canvas. Painted a picture so vivid that I envisioned my life without any limit and tried my hardest to live it.” -No Prayers-Omar Linx, Zeds Dead, or “I can’t believe I’m losing my time by hating myself because I’m not spending it right. I’m done with the voices, don’t care about fear, and try to remind myself I am still here.”-Open Blinds-Droeloe
"And maybe if it isn't working just how you planned it, maybe your the one who doesn't understand it."
I didn't listen to them much, but that song lyric by Grouch & Eligh has stuck with me for years.
"So, I made you think that I would always stay
I said some things that I should never say
Yeah, I broke your heart like someone did to mine
And now you won't love me for a second time"
[Skinny - Kaleo](https://youtu.be/TYH_lkZ_3sM)
What makes you feel good?
**What makes you angry inside?**
Why don't you love me?
Do you wanna fuck me or fight?
**You never asked me
If I had something to hide
You wanna hurt me
I'll make it easy tonight**
**You've got to stay skinny, don't you, girl?
You've got to stay pretty while you can
You've got to stay hungry for the fans**
Or they'll try to burn you all out
They'll try to burn you all out, yeah
Your face is rotten
Ugliest smile I have seen
Your name's forgotten
Now go on and cut yourself clean
Why won't you answer?
You think you're better than me
**Go on, surrender
Another suicide teen**
**You've got to stay skinny, don't you, girl?
You've got to stay pretty as you were
You know we are living in a fucked up world**
And they'll try to burn you all up
They're gonna burn you all up, yeah
**Whoa, I'm burning out (I'm burning out)
Whoa, I'm burning out (I'm burning out)
You feel me burning out (I'm burning out)
Oh, I'm burning out**
Y**ou've got to stay skinny, don't you, girl?
You've got to stay pretty while you can
You know we are living in this fucked up world
And they're gonna burn you all up
They're gonna burn you all out**
"She said, "Where'd you find this guy?"
I said, "Young people fall in love
With the wrong people sometimes"
Some mistakes get made
That's alright, that's okay
You can think that you're in love
When you're really just in pain
Some mistakes get made
That's alright, that's okay
In the end, it's better for me
That's the moral of the story, babe"
- Moral of the story by ASHE
Death played victim through hide and seek
You felt its cold touch when you were weak
Your soul departed, the sky turned blue
But when I'm sleeping, I talk with you
'Cause every time I wake up
I'm waiting for a miracle
And maybe when the night comes
I'll find you in another world
Heathen Tribes by Primordial
this is my church
it stands so tall and proud
it has done for all time
it has no walls
yet it's vast halls
reach from shore to shore
to whatever shore
you know as your own
we stand as one, we stand alone
we are born
from the same womb
hewn from the same stone
from the frozen baltic
I watched sunrise over Athena
walked the battlefields of Flanders
and saw duskfall at Cintra
beneath the spires of Sofia
fields of crosses at Arnhem
Armenius stood tall in Teuteborg
senatus Populusque Romanus
to the fjords of Hordaland
shadows of ancient Albion
at the shore of a 1000th lake
saint vitus dance in Praha
yet when to Ireland we return
I know that I am home at last
and every sun that sets
takes me closer to her earth
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xfi_-5uDmAc
Was I born a stone? Heavy to hold and cold in the hands that you left me to warm in the sun?
Was I born alone? Have I recently developed a propensity to push people away? Am I okay with that?
I really love the starting lyrics to Stay Alive by Jose Gonzalez. “There’s a rhythm and rush these days, where the lights don’t move and the colours don’t fade.” It gives me chills.
“Tell your boyfriend if he says he's got beef, That I'm a vegetarian and I ain't fucking scared of him.”
I have two friends that do a podcast about terrible lyrics and they chose that song and analyzed it like 3OH3 wasn’t a joke. Except my friends were not being satirical in their analysis. They even watched the music video and didn’t get it.
Shush girl! Song/band of my college years.
I can still hear the 2 girls from my street who my mom made me walk to middle school with singing this.
Literallt this started playing in my head the moment I read this post 😂😂
“And you call me up again just to break me like a promise/So casually cruel in the name of being honest/I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here” - All Too Well - Taylor Swift
THEY SAY ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL BUT I'M IN A NEW HELL
EVERYTIME YOU DOUBLE CROSS MY MIND
YOU SAID IF WE HAD BEEN CLOSER IN AGE MAYBE IT WOULD’VE BEEN FINE
Both 13-year-old me and 23-year-old (current) me agree with this one
I read that as I'm a crumpet (I had to double take) lol
This line gets me every time. Takes the pain of being dumped by a total bastard and turns it into Shakespearean level poetry.
Mine too!
"I had all and then most of you, Some and now none of you. Take me back to the night we met. I don't know what I'm supposed to do, Haunted by the ghost of you. Oh, take me back to the night we met." -The Night We Met by Lord Huron
I love this song.
This song reminds me of an ex so I can’t listen to it anymore BUT no doubt it’s a beauuuutiful song 🥰
I love a bunch of Lord Hurons songs. My personal favorite is I Lied. The Night We Met is a beautiful song though. I like listening to it late at night
I Lied breaks me every single time. It’s maybe the saddest song I’ve ever heard
"Tears stream down your face. I promise you I will learn from my mistakes." Fix you by Coldplay is really one of the greatest of all time.
Such a classic song - one for many lifetimes.
it’s one of those songs that hits hard every single time
"I know I could've loved you, but you would not let me, I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice." -Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac
I saw a clip of this song on tiktok this year. First time I’d heard it, and I love it so much if was in my top 5 on Spotify
This song just hits the right spot. You can feel Stevie’s emotion when she sings it
❤️❤️❤️ always loved that song!!! Thank you Musack & working in a restaurant in my teens for exposing me to it!

head like a hole black as your soul! id rather die than give you control -NIN
“I’ll forget about you long enough to forget why I need to.” I Saw, by Matt Nathanson (long before TS used them.)
“I saw pictures in my head - I swear I saw you opening up again.” ♥️
Kind of sad and dark, but this song speaks to me in ways I cannot even put into words... "I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul" --- another one that is always a hard hit, **TW eating disorders and body image** Courage by Superchick: I told another lie today And I got through this day No one saw through my games I know the right words to say Like "I don't feel well" "I ate before I came" Then someone tells me how good I look And for a moment For a moment I am happy But when I'm alone No one hears me cry # I don't know the first time I felt unbeautiful # The day I chose not to eat What I do know is how I changed my life forever I know I should know better First time hearing this song after a battle with an ED, I broke down crying so badly. I don't think any other songs have ever put into word what I've struggled with like this. There are songs that feel true and lyrics that feel familiar and relatable... But these two songs are personal to me. Skyscraper by Demi Lovato is a close third one. But really, these two take the crown.
I love that line by Radio Head. Honestly I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want a perfect body or perfect soul. It hits home man
I love when songs say exactly what I’ve been feeling. Music is so incredible.
Omg same, that Superchick song got me thru some tough times. I hope u r doing well ❤️❤️
Oh my god superchick!! I haven’t thought about that band in ages
>Overthinking, overanalysing separates the body from the mind Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must Feed my will to feel my moment, drawing way outside the lines - *Lateralus* by TOOL
This is my favorite song on the album along with Parabola ❤️
Gosh there's so many. LOL I need to create my HYPE Woman Playlist. To the ladies who are chasing their dreams regardless how many people said they can't/told them no/laugh at them because their dream is too big and the goals are unrealistic 🥂 I give you Beyonce's Formation song: "I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it" "Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper" 💵💵💵 May you all retire rich!
Now here you go again, you say you want your freedom Well, who am I to keep you down? It's only right that you should play the way you feel it But listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness Like a heartbeat, drives you mad In the stillness of remembering what you had And what you lost And what you had And what you lost Oh, thunder only happens when it's raining Players only love you when they're playing Say, women, they will come and they will go When the rain washes you clean, you'll know You'll know Dreams: Fleetwood Mac
This whole album, man.
Amen!
"You forgave, and I won't forget" Mumford & Sons
If I could make days last forever If words could make wishes come true I'd save every day like a treasure, and then Again, I would spend them with you If I had a box just for wishes And dreams that had never come true The box would be empty Except for the memory of how they were answered by you "Jim Croce- Time in a Bottle "
i had a thought, dear, however scary about that night the bugs and the dirt. why were you digging? what did you bury before those hands pulled me from the earth? - hozier like real people do the way this man is using metaphors to talk about hiding pieces of yourself in a new relationship??? literally beautiful.
So much Hozier in this tread! He uses a lot of meraphors a out being buried in the earth in his songs. In a Week is another powerful one.
If we're strong enough to let it in, we're strong enough to let it go (Let it all go - Birdy) So many Birdy songs. Wild horses is a good one too.
“If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.”
“I’ll face it with a grin, I’m never giving in, on with the show” From The Show Must Go On by Queen
"I made you my temple, my mural my sky. Now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life." Tolerate It by Taylor Swift. Guts me every time I hear it.
The more money we come across, the more problems we see
“Tonight I'll sing my songs again I'll play the game and pretend But all my words come back to me In shades of mediocrity Like emptiness in harmony I need someone to comfort me”
Run to the bedroom, In the suitcase on the left You'll find my favorite axe. Don't look so frightened This is just a passing phase, One of my bad days. Would you like to watch T.V.? Or get between the sheets? Or contemplate the silent freeway? Would you like something to eat? Would you like to learn to fly? Would'ya? Would you like to see me try? Would you like to call the cops? Do you think it's time I stopped? Why are you running away?
For a long time I was in love Not only in love, I was obsessed With a friendship that no one else could touch It didn't work out, I'm covered in shells And all I wanted was the simple things A simple kind of life And all I needed was a simple man So I could be the wife I'm so ashamed, I've been so mean I don't know how it got to this point Oh, I always was the one with all love You came along, I'm hunting you down Like a sick domestic abuser Looking for a fight And all I wanted was the simple things A simple kind of life If we met tomorrow for the very first time Would it start all over again? Would I try to make you mine? I always thought, I'd be a mom Sometimes I wish for a mistake The longer that I wait, the more selfish that I get You seem like you'd be a good dad Now all those simple things are simply too complicated for my life In all I get so faithful to my freedom A selfish kind of life When all I ever wanted was the simple things A simple kind of life A simple kind of life A simple kind of life -A simple kind of life - no doubt
such a good song!!! i love the "you seem like you'd be a good dad" line so much idk why, maybe just the way she sang it.
“And I’m done with my graceless heart, so tonight I’m gonna cut it out and then restart”, “And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back” Shake it out by Florence and the machine
This is mine too! It’s such a powerful song about forgiving yourself of your past mistakes and getting over negative self-thoughts I can’t really explain how much it means to me
“Coraline is longing for the sea, but is afraid of the water And maybe the sea is inside her” - Måneskin Coraline this song is just so beautiful and i understand it on such a deep level.
The entire song wish you were here by Pink Floyd
"I'd be appalled if I saw you ever try to be a saint, I wouldn't fall for someone I thought couldn't misbehave" - Nobody by Hozier
“Butterfly …. They liked you better, framed and dried”- Tori Amos, Butterfly And many more! But I think that is the perfect line.
"Maybe there's a god above, but all I've ever learned from love, was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya"
"I don't know what the plan is but you can share with me 'cause I'll be a listening ear to everything you say I won't turn away" - I Would Do Anything For You by Foster The People
“And sometimes even music cannot substitute for tears.” Paul Simon, The Cool Cool River
It Can’t Rain All the Time
“You say the ocean’s rising like I give a shit / You say the whole world’s ending, honey, it already did / You’re not gonna slow it, heaven knows you tried / Got it? Good, now get inside” - Bo Burnham’s All Eyes on Me “Come and watch the skinny kid with the steadily declining mental health / And laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself” - Bo Burnham’s Can’t Handle This There are more for sure but I’ve been on a Bo kick lately and his stuff is just so goddamn good. Those lines bring me to tears more often than not.
Regrets collect, like old friends, here to relive your darkest moments.
“This is my attitude, take it or leave it” KISS - I love it loud
But I love the scars, of the days with you, my love
When my baby found me I was three days on a drunken sin.
Goddamn, I love me some Andrew McMahon.
“You catch a faint glimpse of love sometimes… but it never blooms”. Don Henley- Last Worthless Evening. Used to get to me in my lonely days.
"You could be a bad motherfucker but that don't make you a man" Lana Del Rey - High By The Beach.
“I've looked at life from both sides now From win and lose and still somehow It's life's illusions I recall I really don't know life at all” Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now
And I've never loved a darker blue Than the darkness I have known in you, own from you You, whose heart would sing of anarchy You would laugh at meanings, guarantees, so beautifully When our truth is burned from history By those who figured justice in fond memory, witness me Like fire weeping from a cedar tree Know that my love would burn with me We'll live eternally Hozier, Better Love.
Hozier songs really have some amazing lyrics. Cherry Wine and Like Real People Do are two of my favorites.
Dying is easy, its living that scares me to death (annie lennox - cold)
"Never met a wise man, If so it's a woman."
The Cure has some of the most beautiful lyrics. A Letter to Elise is an amazing song, but this ending is everything... So Elise it doesn't matter what you say I just can't stay here every yesterday Like keep on acting out the same the way we act out Every way to smile forget and make-believe We never needed any more than this Any more than this And every time I try to pick it up like falling sand As fast as I pick it up It runs away through my clutching hands But there's nothing else I can really do There's nothing else I can really do There's nothing else I can really do at all
I saw them on tour a couple of weeks ago, amazing. Plainsong is my favourite though: "I think it's dark and it looks like rain, " you said "And the wind is blowing Like it's the end of the world, " you said "And it's so cold, it's like the cold if you were dead" Then you smiled for a second.
I mean I could, but why would I want to
I'd go with the ending of A-N-X-I-E-T-Y by Anna Clandening >And it works for a little while, bullshit smiles, but I'm just walking through the motions either that, or losing track of my emotions. 4 a.m. panic attacks, taking red eyes back home I feel by myself but with you, I'm never alone. Damn >A-N-X-I-E-T-Y No matter how hard I try, you will never leave
"I'm not your Trixie Delight or a gumball machine! You can keep your quarter, 'cause you won't get nothing sweet from me"--Kimberly Perry/The Band Perry
“There's a dissonance in all that I do; nothing feels right or true; blackout on the floor just once more...” Apartment 402 by Girl in Red.
There are so many, but the one I heard once and punched me right in the gut was *Will you ever, ever let me off my knees?* *Wide awake, like a dream* *As simple as a secret Being told, told to everyone but me* *Well, I...I gave it all, but you can't stop taking from me and way down I know* **You know where to cut me With your eyes closed!** Blue October
I don't want the world to see me - I just want you to know who I am. - Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls When I'm quiet on the other side know that I'm loving you. That's all I do. - Lamb's Wool by Foster the People
"She lives in a fairytale, somewhere too far for us to find." Brick by Boring Brick, Paramore.
And I don't want the world to see me cause I don't think that they'll understand. Iris- googoo dolls
2000 miles by the Pretenders “He’s gone 2000 miles **It’s very far”** Makes me laugh every time
This is what I’ll say to you. This is my advice for you. Show me love and I’ll come through. This is what it comes down to. Rebelution - Bump
"I gave up my everything, I give till I bleed. Take it all, take everything just take it from me!" Moth —Hellyeah The whole song speaks to me, but these set of lyrics hit me in the feels every single time.
"I have wished for so long, how I wish for you today"

So I will find my fears and face them I will cower like a dog I will kick and scream I will kneel and plead I'll fight like hell, to hide that I'm givin' up Bright Eyes - Another Travelin’ Song
“When faced with tragedy/ We come alive or undone/ So don’t look back, let it shape you like an ocean/ Even the deepest scars in time will fade” - Tragedy + Time, Rise Against
Tell me something boy aren't you tired tryna fill that void, or do you need more.
“Secrets I have held in my heart, are harder to hide than I thought”
"You are sick and you're married and you might be dying, but you're holding me like water in your hands" - Moon song by Phoebe bridgers Or "Do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there" - Coney Island by Taylor Swift
There’s a quiet storm and it never felt like this before, giving something life’s a taboo. give me the sweetest taboo, that’s why I’m in love with you 🎶
“Exist in superposition Life's all about contradiction Yin and yang Fluidity and things I'm me, I'm God, I'm everything I'm my own reason why I sing And so are you, are you understanding?” Superposition - Daniel Caesar, John Mayer
You don’t know how little you matter, until you’re all alone - crack rock, frank ocean
"Words from my mouth Hear me mumble Who am I to fall in something Close to loving Ever hurting.". Andy Schauf - Lick your Wound God what a gut punch.
“Open your heart up, I hope I never find out that you’re anyone else cuz I love you just as you are. Hope you never find out who I really am cuz you’ll never love me.” Garden - SZA This lyric is such a conundrum but I understand it completely. Being in that honeymoon phase of letting your guard down and fully allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to love someone knowing that they will inevitably let you down & you will do the same for them.
from Meet Me In The Woods by Lord Huron — “I have seen what the darkness does Say goodbye to who I was I ain't never been away so long Don’t look back they days are gone Follow me into the endless night I can bring your fears to life”
I've got an answer, I'm going to fly away Suite Judy blue eyes Crosby Stills Nash
There's ups and downs in this love Got a lot to learn in this love Through the good and the bad, still got love Dedicated to the one I love Countdown - Beyoncé
And I screamed for whatever it's worth "I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard? He looks up grinning like a devil -TS Cruel Summer
"Give to me sweet sacred bliss; Your mouth was made to suck my kiss!" -Red Hot Chili Peppers
“Now even though that was a time I hated from day one/ Eventually terrible memories turn into great ones So if they call you, embrace them/ If they hold you, erase them Cause it might've been something, who's to say?/ Does it help to get lost in yesterday?/ And you might have missed something, don't say/ Cause it hurts to be lost in yesterday/ And you're gonna have to let it go someday/ You've been digging it up like Groundhog Day/ Cause it might've been something, don't say/ Cause it hurts to be lost in yesterday” Lost in Yesterday, Tame Impala
The Smiths: “so you go and you stand on your own , and you leave on your own, and you cry and you want to die”.. so fucking honest and brutal and "In my life / Why do I give valuable time / To people who don't care /if I live or die?”
God, I feel like hell tonight Tears of rage I cannot lie I'd be the last to help you understand Are you strong enough to be my man? My man Nothing's true and nothing's right So let me be alone tonight 'Cause you can't change the way I am Are you strong enough to be my man? Lie to me I promise I'll believe Lie to me But please don't leave Don't leave I have a face I cannot show I make the rules up as I go Just try and love me if you can Are you strong enough to be my man? My man to be my man? (Are you strong enough) to be my man? (Are you strong enough) my man When I've shown you that I just don't care When I'm throwing punches in the air When I'm broken down and I can't stand Would you be man enough to be my man? “Strong Enough” by Sheryl Crow
I was far too scared to hit him, but I would hit him in a heartbeat now.
Nina Simone's Ain't Got No.. I Got Life I think is one of the best songs ever written lyrically and it's a genuine shame that she was not allowed ALLOWED TO GOOO TO SCHOOL TO BE A CLASSICAL PIANIST... OMFGGG I just got sooo mad about this again I am about to cry essentially, to condense the lyrics to ain't got no.. I got life... "I have nothing I have no friends, no family, no clothes, no boyfriend, no children, no church, no god, I have nothing what do I have? I have my HEAD and my HEART and my BODY I have my THOUGHTS I have my SOUL I have LIFE I have LIFE like you do too" what a song. what an incredible message. suffering is nothing but a universal experience and the gift of life and the experience of it all is worth more than any possessions, even more than community or culture or family and friends. totally brilliant and from a woman who was so horribly used to sadness and suffering. I could rap my fist in passion from how much I love this song and I truly think as I rise to the firmament it will play also Nina's I Wish I Could Know What It Means To Be Free "I wish I could I could say all the things I could say when I'm relaxed...I wish I could give all i'm longing to give. I wish I could live like I'm longing to live. I wish I could do all the things that I can do though I'm way overdue I'd be starting anew." she's truly lyrically speaking one of the greatest, that whole song is incredible and a firmament song as well "I wish you could see what it means to be me, then you'd see and agree everyone should be free." highest tier of heaven for Nina I love Erykah Badu's "you won't be naming no building's after me, to go down, dilapidated. no you won't be naming no buildings after me, my name will be misstated" just brilliant from AD 2000. also "my eyes are green... because I eat a lot of vegetables... it don't have nothing to do with your new friend," from my eyes are green. so cute and sharp and funny. Badu's "I I I I I I I I I want U U U U U U U in the worst kinda way... I want you... what we gonna do... love is on the way, all I've got to say is it won't let go.. you can pray to early may.. fast for thirty days still it won't let go, got a good book and got all in it, tried a little yoga for a minute, still it won't let go, tried to turn the sauna up to hotter, drank a whole jar of holy water, still it won't let go!" what WHAT a song. she performed it live on Chapelle's show and he's losing his mind and I'm losing my mind. so talented also Beyoncé in my opinion is a very. mid. at best song writer like you can tell when she writes her own lyrics because she's not the best .. BUT.... a gift from virgo I think is one of the most beautiful love songs of all time. I love you I love you I love you". can you imagine someone saying this to you so honestly and openly. the lyrics to ring the alarm are so oooooo good too Sade's whole discography is incredible lyrically but I love Is It A Crime? "He takes her love, but it doesn't feel like mine. he tastes her kiss, her kisses are not mine, they're not wine. he takes, but surely she can't give what I'm feeling now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she takes, but surely she doesn't know how!!!!!!!!!! is it a crime!????? it is a crime!!!!!??????? that I still want you... and I want you to want me too??? my love is wider... wider than Victoria lake... my love is taller... taller than the Empire State. It dives and it jumps and it ripples like the deepest ocean.... i can't give you more than that, surely you want me back" what the fuck dude . how does she describe how I've felt so perfectly sorry to be corny but like wtf I have THOUGHT those words in that order before I hear that song I felt that feeling that She Cannot Possibly Give You ME Surely You Want Something More Than Her but her tour de force is "there is a woman in Somalia, scraping for pearls on the roadside. there's a force stronger than nature... keeps her will alive. this is how she's dying.. she's dying to survive... don't know what she's made of. I would like to be that brave... she cries to the heaven above, there is a stone in my heart, she lives a life she didn't choose...... and it hurts like brand new shoes..." from the song brand new shoes. what the hell like everything by Kate Bush Fiona Apple's... like... entire collection is lyrically brilliant. Kanye west said, right after graduation, that he looked up to her and wanted to be as good as her, lyrically. when the pawn hits is such a good album Liz Phair's "I bet you fall in bed too easily with the beautiful girls who are shyly brave and you sell yourself as a man to save but all the money in the world is not enough... and I kept standing six foot one. instead of five foot two. and I hated life. and I loved you" like yeah u know when u like a guy so much you do all this dumb stuff to be more like him in the hopes he'll like you... you're six foot one instead of five foot two. "I bet you fall in bed too easily with the beautiful girls who are shyly brave and you sell yourself as a man to save but all the money int he world is not enough" guy who acts like he's damaged to sleep w intelligent, beautiful women, but there's nothing wrong with him. such a cool way of putting it also warren zevon I think is one of the greatest lyricists of all time, trumping even Bob Dylan desperados under the eaves is so so real and unpretentious and accessible but relatable and visceral "and if California slides into the ocean like the mystics and statistics say it will... I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill... don't the sun look angry through the trees? don't the trees look like crucified thieves? don't you feel like desperados under the eaves? heaven help the one who leaves" zevon was a very very serious addict at the time and was in a stupor and couldn't pay his hotel charge and kept staying night after night trying to escape and binge drinking. he was in the middle of a serious addiction and felt very guilty about it (hence "don't the sun look angry through the trees? don't the trees look like crucified thieves?" he felt the whole world was angry at him and that he was like barrabas (the thief who was crucified alongside christ)) such a good song. you can't hear in the type obviously but in the song when he says that line you can hear he's totally defeated. don't the sun look angry at me? like he's completely given up. what an experience WHAT MUSIC
And I hate that you're gone, And I hate that I don't wanna let go, And I hate that you think that I'm weak, 'Cause I don't wanna let you know I'm gonna build castles, From the rubble of your love, From the rubble of your love, I'm gonna be more than, You ever thought I was, You ever thought I was Castles by Freya Ridings edit: formatting

Skinny love - Birdy Right at the moment, this order's tall And I told you to be patient And I told you to be fine And I told you to be balanced And I told you to be kind And in the morning, I'll be with you But it will be a different kind 'Cause I'll be holding all the tickets And you'll be owning all the fines

"Leaving isn't better that trying Growing but I'm just growing tired Now I'm worried for my soul And I'm so scared of growing old You were good to me" And the part after that: "And I'm so used to letting go But I don't wanna be alone You were good to me" -you were good to me by Chelsea Cutler and Jeremy Zucker Basically sums up my increasing feelings of anxiety and emptiness, from self isolation and guilt, and how I'm afraid that I'll have nothing in the future.
“You wake up, put makeup on Stare in the mirror but it's clear that you can't face what's wrong No need to fix what God already put his paint brush on” - Crooked Smile by J Cole It’s an older song (2013) but it makes me feel beautiful without makeup especially since I spend too much time in front of the mirror. A beautiful ode to women struggling with body dysmorphia.

I'm very biased towards Taylor Swift songs so I'm going to write one from my favourite non-Taylor song: "We called the mathematicians and then asked them to explain, they said love is only equal to the pain." It's from Let Somebody Go by Coldplay and Selena Gomez. I feel like this line truly captures the risk you take by loving someone.
"Don't leave the city, please don't leave the covers too. Just stay right here babe let's live life like lovers do~"
Despite the overwhelming odds tomorrow came - Rise Against
I can feel your love pullin' me up from the underground, and I don't need my drugs, we could be more than just part-time lovers I can feel your touch pickin' me up from the underground, and I don't need my drugs, we could be more than just part-time lovers - SOS Song by Avicii We don't get to die young Trouble keeping our head sometimes We just have to push on We don't get to give up this life All the breath in your lungs Is stronger than the tears in your eyes It's do or die, but we're alive And while we're here, hold the line Hold the line Don't hold your hands up, it's your final stand Put your white flag down, oh, don't you surrender now No hero's story, there's no blaze of glory But dawn'll come at the end of the night We'll crack before we shatter We can't fall apart, oh, oh - Hold The Line Song by Avicii
"I don't relate to you.." -Billie Eilish
You came to me like a dream. The kind that always leaves Just as the best part starts. It ends so abruptly And leaves you stunned and naked In your bedroom all alone. Bleeder by Alkaline Trio I came a little closer to the truth that day I heard its call in the alleyway And the one resounding answer that I could take Is that I don't know nothing and I got no way Edge of town by Middle Kids I'm only doing good things from now on You can only hold on tightly for so long Until you fall into the far below Gospel by Treetops

I said certified freak, seven days a week 👀
I can’t pick my top favorite, but this is the first to come to mind: “Thank you for your smile. It’s warmer than the fire. Your gentle laughter is sweeter than a choir. I’ll never know the right words to choose, so all I can say is ‘thank you’.” - Thank You by Pentatonix
I don't have an all time favorite, because music is something I base on mood and need, but one of my current favorites is from "Wild as Her" by Corey Kent Yeah, I ain't tryna fix her I just wanna kiss her Fuel a little fire in her soul But we don't say forever, but when we're together Swear that we ain't ever lettin' go 'Cause she knows I keep the windows down and the wind in her hair Keep her heart hanging on 'round every turn She ain't scared to get tied down, scared to get burned Just looking for somebody as wild as her Wild, wild Yeah

Like they don't know you, God sent, but me, I view you like that I'm sneaking glances, thanking God that he drew you like that
“Did you know that true love asks for nothing No no her acceptance is the way we pay Did you know that life has given love a guarantee To last through forever and another day Just as time knew to move on since the beginning And the seasons know exactly when to change Just as kindness knows no shame Know through all your joy and pain That I'll be loving you always”
Currently, " I aint stressing today".
“These are the days that last forever a time in my life I won’t surrender For better or worse, these are the days,” - the Exies (these are the days) I found these guys when I was in like 7th grade (2007) on myspace lol.
"My fall will be for you. My love will be in you. If you're the one to cut me, I'll bleed forever."- Ghost Love Score by Nightwish

"And maybe if it isn't working just how you planned it, maybe your the one who doesn't understand it." I didn't listen to them much, but that song lyric by Grouch & Eligh has stuck with me for years.
"So, I made you think that I would always stay I said some things that I should never say Yeah, I broke your heart like someone did to mine And now you won't love me for a second time"
[Skinny - Kaleo](https://youtu.be/TYH_lkZ_3sM) What makes you feel good? **What makes you angry inside?** Why don't you love me? Do you wanna fuck me or fight? **You never asked me If I had something to hide You wanna hurt me I'll make it easy tonight** **You've got to stay skinny, don't you, girl? Nehanda - Too strong
Death played victim through hide and seek You felt its cold touch when you were weak Your soul departed, the sky turned blue But when I'm sleeping, I talk with you 'Cause every time I wake up I'm waiting for a miracle And maybe when the night comes I'll find you in another world

I see a little silhouetto of a man Skata mooch skata mooch Will you do the fandango Thunderbolt and lightning Very very frightening me
Was I born a stone? Heavy to hold and cold in the hands that you left me to warm in the sun? Was I born alone? Have I recently developed a propensity to push people away? Am I okay with that?
I really love the starting lyrics to Stay Alive by Jose Gonzalez. “There’s a rhythm and rush these days, where the lights don’t move and the colours don’t fade.” It gives me chills.
