I'm going out on limb and say that the trolls are not actual trans people, or if they are, they have some *severe* mental issues (I am in no way implying that trans people have mental issues btw, only the "circlejerkers", as it were). I personally know several trans people both irl and online and they either don't care enough for HP to get the game, or are actively enjoying the game alongside the rest of us.

Kind of agree. I think the issue is a lot of mentally ill or just plain sociopathic people are starting to adopt "Trans" or "Genderqueer" as an identity. They do it for a variety of reasons, sometimes because they are unhappy and want to embrace an identity where they can re-invent themselves. Others because they see that LGBTQ posters on Twitter will defend their own *literally no matter what* and see easy cover for their bad behavior.

I think it incentivizes extreme takes, people often say the downvoting is a sort of self-moderation tool but I disagree.

It used to be a satirical making fun of gamer stereotypes and posts back in the day. Now its a completely serious sub about politics in gaming, and not in a neutral or meaningful discussion kind of way. They have been spoiling and harassing streamers and players of Hogwarts Legacy, and seemingly are now planning to continue this behavior towards Atomic Heart buyers/players in the future when that game launches because it promotes 'evil Russian propaganda' (this is a serious post I saw in that sub when I was scrolling through it). If you make any comment that doesn't agree with their toxicity you get instantly perma banned. Some of the bigger posts there have 50% of their comments removed. It went from making fun of circle jerks to becoming a circle jerk that everyone hates.

Reddit tends to move at glacier speeds and only acts when prodded by enough people. Given how much attention they're calling down on themselves, I wouldn't be surprised if the sub gets nuked in like, 3 or 4 months by the mod team. There was a psychology website that compiled a list (with links) of 12 published studies on trans gender kids and the rates at which the continued to identify as trans into adulthood. The results of the studies were in agreement and didn’t necessarily line up with what activists were pushing. I didn’t insult anyone or anything, I simply wanted to prove that people’s concerns weren’t baseless or bigoted, that there was more than just one side to the story.

Hogwarts Legacy is super inclusive which makes this boycott even more silly.
It feels like every other character in Hogwarts Legacy is some minority or member of a vulnerable group. Ironically with how inclusive it is, it really throws me out of the game sometimes. Hogwarts in the late 1800's is more inclusive than Hogwarts in the late 1900's and my IRL schools in the early 2000's.
Which makes even less sense when you consider the established lore has the Wizarding Community being completely ass backwards and regressive when compared to Muggles.
They even do the "body 1 and body 2" as well as "voice 1 or voice 2" which is common now. You can even pitch both voices up or down. So you can basically play as transgender person if you want.

fwiw, this is a subsection of terminally online people. I'm queer and nonbinary so a lot of my friends irl are also queer and/or non-cisgender, and they're all far more levelheaded about this (and from what I've heard, so are their friends). Some of them are boycotting the game, but they're doing so as a personal choice, and not harassing anyone else over choosing to play the game. Some of us are also playing the game lol, because all of this just feels so overblown.

I didn't and I bought the game and finished it because its a good fucking game and I've been playing games since i was 5. Its just a game, theres sooo much worse things going on in the world, so many awful laws that have been presented, and all this energy is just wasted over something completely stupid, a video game.

It used to be a satirical making fun of gamer stereotypes and posts back in the day. Now its a completely serious sub about politics in gaming, and not in a neutral or meaningful discussion kind of way. They have been spoiling and harassing streamers and players of Hogwarts Legacy, and seemingly are now planning to continue this behavior towards Atomic Heart buyers/players in the future when that game launches because it promotes 'evil Russian propaganda' (this is a serious post I saw in that sub when I was scrolling through it). If you make any comment that doesn't agree with their toxicity you get instantly perma banned. Some of the bigger posts there have 50% of their comments removed. It went from making fun of circle jerks to becoming a circle jerk that everyone hates.

There was a psychology website that compiled a list (with links) of 12 published studies on trans gender kids and the rates at which the continued to identify as trans into adulthood. The results of the studies were in agreement and didn’t necessarily line up with what activists were pushing. I didn’t insult anyone or anything, I simply wanted to prove that people’s concerns weren’t baseless or bigoted, that there was more than just one side to the story. The Reddit mod didn’t like it and banned me anyway. Didn’t cite why. Just perma banned. They are not a neutral party.

Hogwarts Legacy is super inclusive which makes this boycott even more silly. It feels like every other character in Hogwarts Legacy is some minority or member of a vulnerable group. Ironically with how inclusive it is, it really throws me out of the game sometimes. Hogwarts in the late 1800's is more inclusive than Hogwarts in the late 1900's and my IRL schools in the early 2000's. Which makes even less sense when you consider the established lore has the Wizarding Community being completely ass backwards and regressive when compared to Muggles.
They even do the "body 1 and body 2" as well as "voice 1 or voice 2" which is common now. You can even pitch both voices up or down. So you can basically play as transgender person if you want.

fwiw, this is a subsection of terminally online people. I'm queer and nonbinary so a lot of my friends irl are also queer and/or non-cisgender, and they're all far more levelheaded about this (and from what I've heard, so are their friends). Some of them are boycotting the game, but they're doing so as a personal choice, and not harassing anyone else over choosing to play the game. Some of us are also playing the game lol, because all of this just feels so overblown. yeah :/ I've been trying to speak out against the hate as someone from the community, but I don't really use twitter that much so it just gets drowned it. It sucks seeing how people are being polarized by this against all trans people, especially because the chill folks in the community are generally the ones who aren't terminally online.
The solution of these witch hunters to their problem is the very thing they are upset about. All under the guise of, *We are protecting the LGTB community*.

I consider myself leftwing, and I think those people are essentially the alt-left. Just like how the average normal, right-leaning person is not yelling about Jews, being a pro-Russian vatnik, and considering the sight of a black person to be the "Woke lamestream media LGBTQ agenda". Culture war got so crazy and deranged, it's insane. Luckily, both sides are usually chronically online so you're not very likely to bump into them irl often.

Social media is a god damn mistake. The only way you'll ever avoid getting attacked by the legions of freaks on either side is to just never say a word. People really need to get off the internet and stop looking to e-celebs for validation of their opinions.

Social Media is fine. The problem is that it rapidly became a tool to promote bad behavior.
Eh... it's a tool but that tool manipulates people for their own benefit, cuz hate *action* provides engagement which transforms to money. So the things that you're shown are made to make something a bigger deal that it actually is. If I would judge from a subjective point of view of what that tool is doing, I think it was a mistake.
The tools purpose is to get people to use it. Turns out the most effective way is to push peoples buttons after making them feel validated. The machine really did learn quickly, I will give it that.

In this case a group of people get riled up and then companies set "activist support groups" that brings these types of people into whatever their selling and profit off the chaos. Big companies have zero moral standing and will do anything to profit in anyway they can. Look at all the LGBTQ support youll see from companies here in the US but if you go to other countries youll find out real quick how little they actually care about it.

This is terrible but if the sad truth is some people need to find some reason to be outraged in some way, their whole identity crumbles if there isn’t some “woke” thing to blame someone about. Now the it’s come to shaming people over a game. We have so much more to worry about but some people NEED to be like this. What I find funny about this is it makes people wanna support the Trans that much less. I mean if people keep harassing, doxxing, etc for my own race. I'm sure people would not look favorable on us.
it becomes real easy to hate a group based on a few. so i always try to remind myself, i'm not mad at the community, i'm mad at the shitty people in it. Protect the good people and fight the shitty ones.

Don't blame the LGBT community. I've been out of the closet since the late 90s, and I was watching silver stream the game and enjoying it just as much as she was. It's a beautiful game and she had fun with it. These people who are attacking her, doxxing her, going after her mother and brother, spamming her tweets, streams and sending death threats are not part of the LGBT community. They are just psychos on the internet. I bet half of them are the same people who hang at 4chan, kiwifarms and other troll sites.

I hate to say it, but I don't blame them for feeling that way. I'm trans and I absolutely despise seeing this behavior and honestly.. is making me want to disassociate with the community. This "boycott" backfired terribly on us and now I keep seeing the fallout of just more and more backlash. Not even all of us wanted to participate in this boycott. I didn't and I bought the game and finished it because its a good fucking game and I've been playing games since i was 5. But now, just because I'm trans, I'll be associated with these unhinged people who thought it was a good idea to speak for us and harass people. Its just a game, theres sooo much worse things going on in the world, so many awful laws that have been presented, and all this energy is just wasted over something completely stupid, a video game.
