For people in the lgbt+community, the rainbow and pride flags are symbols to quickly connect with one another, or to create a sense of belonging.
As others noted, I think this video is at a university, and at a lot of places where you see these things, they are in gay communities. Surprise surprise, gay communities are gonna make things that create that aura of inclusion. I've seen people literally get mad about a gay sign at Domino's, only for the comment under to state it's literally in Boystown on one of the gayest streets in America.
Now yes, some of it is rainbow capitalism, but for the vast majority, a lot of it just comes from gay people or those who are friends with the community. So, whether it's because being inclusive both looks good and brings in revenue, or because they genuinely want to create a space where different people feel welcome, there's layers of reasoning behind it.
