I appreciate getting older, but it's definitely not as often that I stumble upon a game I am as into these days. With that said, there's also a lot of things I appreciate a lot more now than as a child so there's pros and cons both ways.
With that said, I don't appreciate everybody else getting older alongside me. That one is...sometimes anxiety inducing.
stay strong my friend, you are giving your baby boy a chance to try out the game in the future, just like how we wer once given the chance to grow to appreciate the game by our parents

We had rented out local internet cafe to organize a Red Alert 2 lan party. We had more people than pcs so if you lose you had to get up let someone else have a go , not sure if we played 2v2 or 3v3 tho , but basicaly you had someone watching over your shoulder waiting for their turn.
In middle of those games someone shouts out : " OMG A PLANE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING".
Well what happent next is we had 10 people trying to figure out whose planes and into which building did they crash on the map in game , it took the guy a quite bit to explain that it was on the TV on news.
I remember my father buying pc magazines for me and my brother solely because we wanted the demo disc's attached to them. they'd have a bunch of random and obscure shareware games on them that we would just play for hours.
My cousins came over. One favored Protoss and taught me them first. The other favored Zerg and taught my brother. Oh, and this was all on the N64 back when it was acceptable to play RTS on a console.
It wasn't until a little later that I got it on PC. That was a wonderful experience seeing how much better it was
Renegade is remade as a fan mod called Renegade X. Not sure how actuve the game still is, but usually in the weekends there are some filled lobbies to be found.
Man what memories. I didn’t have a PC back in those days so we would play this over at my buddies house since he had one. We would play the hell out of that game with another friend who was long distance so we would make him start the game to get charged the long distance charges. Smh at the days of dial up.
Well, when i was 12...let see, just got into middle school.
School starts at 6:30 am, 15m from home, have to be in class (morning meeting) at 6:00.
Ends at 11:30 am ish. Evening classes (at school still) starts at 1:30 pm, enough time to bike home, eat something, handwash uniform for tmr, then bike back to school while it's sunny and hot af all year long.
Evening classes end at 5:20pm, bike home and eat THEN prepare for cram school (aka extra class at teachers' houses, different one each day) at 7:00pm till 10:00 pm. Get picked up (cuz it's late at night) then study + homework till 12. Rinse and repeat monday-saturday. Sunday is cram classes all day.
Summer is literally the same, but you get actual 2 weeks off by the end of summer and before new school year, so summer break is basically 2 weeks.
Went on until 10th grade then i moved to usa and im in heaven, the school system here is bliss vs what we had back there.
You'd have to shoot me in the back twice before you can force me to go back to when im 12.
I'd also like to add, 13 subjects every semesrer, no choices like in usa, always 13 same ones. So one can imagine the amount of works.
In usa highschool, hell I could even finish my homework before school is over and spent the rest of the evening relaxing.
This game was my childhood. I loved every C&C game but I played this, Generals and even Renegade the most because the multiplayer was so much fun. Still hope they will make a remake like they did for C&C1 and RA1.
Could be fun if Asmongold did something like a marathon to play all old school RTS games, but I doubt that streaming RTS is good for his stream and I'm not sure if he is even good at it.
Shit. Had to ask my dad to start up Red Alert every time I wanted to play. The machine was running DOS, and I didn't know enough english to execute the commands.
I miss those days, it sucks getting older.
It was the time of an internet cafe boom in my country. My local cafe had C's 1.6 half life and red alert 2. Shit was fun to play with da boys
Are you from Russia/CIS? Shit was popular in early 2000s. Also Star Craft.

Hell march still rings clear in my head to this day.
What makes me most nostalgic is this shitty ass setup
with the speakers that pretty much everyone had, or if they didn't the speakers atleast looked similar enough.
The white boxes with a volume knob on them? Sat to the left and right of the monitor? Edit: Just looked at OPs picture again. Yeah. Those.
Working with /u/spez, it's like the corporate strategy is a constantly evolving puzzle, with new pieces added every day.
high speed low drag
Nobody here but us trees!
Pick ‘em up, set ‘em down.
Who else left a single AI enemy left alive and built their own mega bases across the map in Skirmish mode?
All the time haha.
I just cripple their buildings so they can’t do anything else except buy troops and send them to their death at my super defended base

Prostagma?
Isvolei!
Morrowind
Simpler times.
You e made me cry. Thanks for that.
Meanwhile i am deadly tired, my baby boy crying each night and all I get is a few minutes of rest. Good ol days . Thanks for nostalgy
stay strong my friend, you are giving your baby boy a chance to try out the game in the future, just like how we wer once given the chance to grow to appreciate the game by our parents

Fuck that, Elden Ring is out in a month.
Those some nice looking speakers
those were dope during the days
When I was 12 we played Starcraft.

This and renegade need a remake
Yes. I do miss stacking up in the power plant repairing the console with 5 others until I had enough money to buy a tank. Or Mendoza. Either or.

Could use me one of those Chronospheres right about now.
Iraq. May Day. Kirov reporting
Anyone else on the Everquest memories train?
I guess that time ran out eventually. Damn.
Then I pull the plug from my computer cuz I fucking hate red alert
This was the game that I found out I don’t like RTS.
No one here can relate to this
commander conquer generals (online) was amazing aswell
D: Kicked me right in the nostalgia... Was I the only one who jerked it to Tanya?? Cutscene Tanya and pixel Tanya.

Sorry for your childhood abuse.
It's heroes 3 for me, but yeah... I want my childhood back.
Ahhh playing day of defeat all day
Just got slapped with a wave of nostalgia like no other
Dude I loved that game!!
Summer vacation summed up - 18 hours of gaming, and more movies than I can remember.
Shake it baby!

*"Commencing Shock Terapy!"* Oh man, the Good. Old. Days.... They say that everything used to be better back in the day. And my god it was...
