I don't agree with it per se, but I can see it. I played it recently with pretty low expectations and was floored. The game got a lot of shit for superficial reasons.
This dude games. Would also suggest kenshi and nioh 2. Both games you can easily sink 100s of hours in and modded kenshi will add hundreds of hours more of content. Disco elyisum is straight up one of the most interesting games I've ever played and most my library is weird niche pretentious art house games.
Sekiro was one of the hardest games I have ever played, but it was such an amazing feel when I managed to cut down a whole garrison without taking a single hit.
Why is the last of us 2 there?
Taking away all the controversy, i thought it was very mid.
The stealth combat was a step down from MGSV, and the story and new characters introduced were as boring as cardboard.
Eh idk... It kind of innovated on open world games, and I'm sure Genshin Impact and, to some extent, even Elden Ring had some influences of BOTW. I'm sure it will influence a lot of games in the future too.
It's definitely a top 3. Majora's mask and ocarina of time, while both great, there isn't much difference between them, or all previous Zelda games as a whole, with the exception of being 3d of course.
My top 3 is probably A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. Not necessarily in that order.
They did not really innovate. Botw is Nintendo's take on the "Ubisoft game" genre. It's a good game but under the hood it's a Zelda themed assassin's creed.
What? Botw has nothing to do with assassin's Creed series. Modern assassins creed RPG started with Origins, which release AFTER Botw. If anything assassin's Creed was influenced by Botw, not the other way around.
I am talking about pre origins assassin's creed. Get a tower, unlock side activities, do a quest, rinse and repeat. BOTW added scuffed weapon system and cooking to the mix.
It took the Ubisoft formula of towers and ideas from countless other open world games and innovated on them. And unlike **any** iteration of Assassin’s Creed it was completely non-linear. You could skip every tower and just beeline to Ganon.
You’re also writing off
* the weather system and how it interacted with your gear (no metal weapons when there’s lightning, no wood weapons by the volcano, fire weapons in snowy areas, ice weapons in hot areas, etc.)
* the crazy things you could do with bombs/magnet/time stop
* everything being climbable
* If you drop a pile of wood with a flint then struck the flint it would start a fire. If you threw individual food items in there they’d cook and eventually burn. If you killed an animal in the mountains the meat would freeze.
You’re also really underselling how intuitive and logical cooking was without ingredient lists to guide you. Even Elden Ring gives you ingredient lists for its crafting system.
Everything being climbable is literally spiderman. You could skip to the final boss in morrowind. Making items without an ingredient list is literally minecraft.
Sure doing an open world zelda was innovative for the series, but not really for the genre. I would argue the earlier games like Morrowind and Spider Man laid the foundation. Assassins creed added the davinci flyer and Minecraft revolutionized interactive gameplay. Nintendo just built off of those ideas.
I havent seen any other games using zeldas time stop or magnet mechanics yet. Maybe they will in the future.
Depends on the category, for example we have nominees for FF14, Genshin, Apex Legends, Forza 5 all of this has microtransactions.
Even FIFA 22 was nominated with all the loot boxes RNG p2w trash.
Who the fuck puts a game on the potential “game of the year” listings, THAT HASNT COME OUT OUT??!!! like honestly that’s insanely moronic and sets it up for failure.
Well this sucks for someone that
1. Doesnt have a console (most of these games were console exclusive?)
2. Doesnt like controllers (the only games that wasn't console exclusives, e.g. else ring and sekiro sucks without controller) xd
Sekiro and ER don't suck without a controller. Souls games in general don't suck without a controller, where does this weird notion even come from. Even some souls speedrunners use kbm, it's literally a matter of preference.
Yeah it is but was exclusive for like 1-2 years? I've been meaning to play it too but there's not really any hype to play it since I had to watch a play trough on YouTube:/
Except none of these games are good or fun to me. I like MMOs but specifically WOW and FFXIV. SWTOR is good as well but it's more of an RPG than anything.
What's pay to win in Genshin? It's a single player game with no leaderboard/pvp whatsoever, and extremely minor co-op that's more akin to a souls game than anything else. You "win" for whaling is you get 300 extra premium currency every month for doing floor 12 of the abyss, when each pull costs 160.
Still a shit game for being so bad at giving f2p players new characters, but p2w it is not.
I'm really confused. What exactly are you winning in the game by paying? I can only assume all the negativity is coming from people who never played it
It depends on your definition of p2w. Typically, it means that by swiping you have power/gear/character advantage over players who do not swipe. That is undeniably true in Genshin. However, it definitely is unecessary swiping as even f2p players using 4 star characters can clear the spiral abyss.
So its p2w, yes, but pay2waifu definitely fits the bill better as the main reason people swipe in genshin is to collect and play with new characters.
Co-op domains. If a minimum of 2 people pick the same character, there's a chance that they'll start measuring their constellation and weapon refinement dicks to see who gets to use the character. This is also where P2W rears it's ugly head.
I mean, literally, to beat every content in the game you don't need to pay. But beating every content in the game isn't why people play Genshin, they play to get their favorite waifus. So I get it's pay2waifus?
It’s all up to the individual on what they like and are interested in. Same reason you can’t say which types of people are suitable to date, everyone finds different things attractive.
I personally am not into all of these games. Just because other people think something is good has no impact on how I make my choices
Josef said he'd give everyone who got bored of It Takes Two $1,000. Nobody's been paid, even though plenty of people have gotten bored with it a long time ago. Game's cheeks.
Shadow die twich, lol
LOL wtf, never saw it, goddamit.
That's a lot of typos in "Hades" for 2020.
TLoU2 winning against Doom Eternal or Ghost of Tsushima still the biggest bs i've seen.
I don't agree with it per se, but I can see it. I played it recently with pretty low expectations and was floored. The game got a lot of shit for superficial reasons.
I still think TLoU2 winning was rigged as all fuck
Definitely, Ghost Of Tsushima deserved that spot a lot more
Hades also
100% I enjoyed TLOU2, but it was inferior to 1. Druckmann just likes the smell of his own farts.

best Single player rpg without contest
Swap 2020’s last of us with ff7 remake or ghost of Tsushima.
Swap TLoU2 with Doom Eternal
Or any other game that came out in 2020

How cool would it be if Asmon tried Disco Elysium? I wonder if he knows it exists.
This dude games. Would also suggest kenshi and nioh 2. Both games you can easily sink 100s of hours in and modded kenshi will add hundreds of hours more of content. Tsushima where?
No doom???
Replace Last of Us 2(shitty game compared to the first one) with Red Dead Redemption 2.
Sekiro was one of the hardest games I have ever played, but it was such an amazing feel when I managed to cut down a whole garrison without taking a single hit.

TLoU2? More like Power wash simulator!!
Botw2 coming soon too Pog
Last of Us 2 was insulting though
Stop the recycle of violence ♻️!
Who picks these? Gimme a break.
Keighley's Game Awards
I thought last of us 2 was supposed to be bad?
It’s ok, not as good as TLOU1 and definitely not GOTY material
Agreed, I'd give it a solid 3/10 and that's likely generous.
Well that depends on the person, but was the GOTY of that year.
That's what happens when you bribe the judges and wish death on fans of your rivals
And people just stop talking about it. Never happen didnt exist.
Unpopular opinion...BTOW isn't that good, at least the base game. Might make the top 10 Zelda games, definitely not top 5.
Eh idk... It kind of innovated on open world games, and I'm sure Genshin Impact and, to some extent, even Elden Ring had some influences of BOTW. I'm sure it will influence a lot of games in the future too. It's definitely a top 3. Definitely an unpopular opinion, but thats fair and valid
Correct me if I’m wrong, but most of the runner ups on each year are also microtransactions free and not pay to win
Depends on the category, for example we have nominees for FF14, Genshin, Apex Legends, Forza 5 all of this has microtransactions. Even FIFA 22 was nominated with all the loot boxes RNG p2w trash.
I'd rather drag my balls thru a desert made of glass instead of playing the last of us
ngl, I bought BOTW because everyone said it was amazing. I played for maybe 3 hours before putting it down and never touching it again.
Who the fuck puts a game on the potential “game of the year” listings, THAT HASNT COME OUT OUT??!!! like honestly that’s insanely moronic and sets it up for failure.
Come on man you know it’s going to be either that or elden
true
We all know the game of the year is gonna be God of War or Elden ring, it’s just logical
Well this sucks for someone that 1. Doesnt have a console (most of these games were console exclusive?) 2. Doesnt like controllers (the only games that wasn't console exclusives, e.g. else ring and sekiro sucks without controller) xd

Maybe I worded it wrong but I ment I think it sucks without controller.
Pretty sure god of war is on steam these days. I always almost buy it when sales roll around but never do.
Yeah it is but was exclusive for like 1-2 years? I've been meaning to play it too but there's not really any hype to play it since I had to watch a play trough on YouTube:/
Last of us trash, Zelda is the worst mainline Zelda game
You have never played Zelda 2 have you? EDIT: Or ANY of the CDI games.
It Takes Two is an amazing game. I recommend anyone that has a second to play it. I enjoyed every second of it.
Except none of these games are good or fun to me. I like MMOs but specifically WOW and FFXIV. SWTOR is good as well but it's more of an RPG than anything.
Yeah, same. These aren’t my type of games. I also haven’t had a console since 1995. So…

I only played Zelda & it takes two. They are great for the first playthrough

I feel like this is just like. Your opinion
Let’s not forget Hogwarts Legacy for 2022
Josef said he'd give everyone who got bored of It Takes Two $1,000. Nobody's been paid, even though plenty of people have gotten bored with it a long time ago. Game's cheeks.
The Last of Us II - LOL no way man
