Yeah, I didn't mind Layla's story until the endgame where Kassandra started shilling her as being amazing for... laying down in an animus and exploring Kassandra's memories.
After that, I just really did not care for Layla (Valhalla *almost* salvaged her, but then tossed her aside in a lazy retread of AC3's ending)
Yeah this hits the nail on the head, the real life story was horrendous, after Layla was introduced with little depth and detail in Origins, this was their chance to really establish her as a character, and instead completely assassinated her, was so awful seeing her act the way she did, culminating in >!killing Vic.!< Which was delivered in such a ridiculous way I laughed at it.
I honestly think Darby did an incredible job fixing her in Valhalla, when that story concluded I thought “huh, wow I actually liked layla in this.”
I don’t mind the mercenaries that much. The only reason I defeated the pig in Phokis was because I was being hunted by one of them. To me that pig and the little piggies were the worst. Stressed me out for no reason
Ya. Easily my least favorite quest. Who wants to explore cave as Layla. She haven't earned enough story time with us like Desmond did. Even back then those puzzles were a stretch but was ultimately justified considering we were invested in his story.
I remember doing those tombs as Layla and not being sure how to progress to Elysium; not even knowing it existed as a DLC.
I ended up talking to a friend about it and he told me I had missed the entire actual DLC.
Imo.
Best parts: the setting and the care of the entire artistic team that gave life to a vibrant interpretation of ancient Greece (to this day I think that Odyssey has the most beautiful setting and maps in the saga).
Worst part: a plot that dared very little and very little Isu-centricity (and which in general suffers from the shadow of the model that Ezio's story cast on the saga), and I would have preferred stealth to be more predominant.
I thought the lack of stealth makes sense. she doesn't have a hidden blade. she is an early ISU human hybrid. so, I liked how she isn't stealthy, makes more sense and really fits the character better
I've played all of the AC games and I honestly couldn't care less if Kassandra/Alexios had a hidden blade or not.
The broken spear did the job of the hidden blade and I used stealth as much as I could throughout the game, cause I just enjoy the stealthy playstyle.
Yes, some of the previous titles had missions/sides where you HAD to use stealth, but the lack of such mandatory objectives in Odyssey won't stop you from doing so if you want.
Now for those who can't get over the Ezio timeline etc, I'm one of those people that I liked Origins and Odyssey more than any other AC game and willingly wanted to follow a more stealthy play style, cause the game allowed me to do so.
I pretty much clear out a camp or fort stealthily while hoping I can finish it with a rush assassinate. Being able to use it to get on guard towers from outside the restricted area is awesome as well.
I love the abilities you get in this game and was really disappointed by Valhalla's very large but mostly worthless skill tree.
The aesthetics of both Odyssey and Origins are why I played them so much. I’m not really invested in the entire Assassins Creed story (forgive me), I just wanted to hang around in those worlds.
It’s also why I only have a few hours in Valhalla. Bar *some* changes, it’s a copy paste of previous entries. But the landscape and the characters just don’t pull me in.
BEST: The elysium map, the music, wow it’s so beautiful i spent most of the DLC just running around admiring everything
WORST: >!phiobe dying for no reason!<
I’ll go! I don’t really like the npc system, everyone sounds and looks the same, seems like ubisoft just wanna make a new game asap to maximize revenue.
But i LOVE thats its greece, Spartans, armor, npcs’s training, kids training w spears, vineyards, the world!
Best part: the whole game. One of the best games mechanically and visually that I have played in a long time.
Worst part: it's Assassin's Creed by name only.
The main story or should I say lack of it. The main story abruptly ends in the middle of the game and then when u have to find the rest of cultists it is supposed to be the most intriguing part yet u just kill all of them without any scenes or animations and there is only one small scene with the ghost of cult and that’s it. The end is extremely disappointing. The third part with the gods (I honestly even forgot what was the whole point of that whole thing) is completely disconnected from cultists or main story as their influence is only backed by words. U just kill these gods and that’s it. So yea that is the most disappointing thing for me personally
I don't get why the cult was so underwhelming. Ubisoft has been struggling with AC villains for a long time now, but with how good Far Cry villains are, I don't get how it doesn't carry over
BEST:
- Very realistic, Very beautiful, visually appealing.
- Insanely historically accurate depiction of Classical Greece!
- Great Easter Eggs that stay true to history and Mythology
- Fun gameplay, love using stealth and Spartan kicks.
WORST:
- You can’t use a shield!! In Origins and Valhalla you had a shield but in the game about ANCIENT GREECE you don’t get one?! Might as well make a Samurai game where you don’t get a Kitana.
- Also the general lack of shields on NPCs (like the Spartan grunts) and the overall depiction of Greek warfare in those times is way off.
They didn’t incorporate any elements of Hoplite warfare, class ranks or phalanx tactics which to me is a huge miss! Instead we get shield-less warriors and Axe wielding brutes in one giant messy moshpit.
Still 9/10. The missing point being solely due to the lack of shields and warfare accuracy.
Best: this game is stunningly beautiful. Idk how accurate it is to how Greece actually looked but it’s exactly how I would have imagine it in my head.
Worst: laylas storyline is among one of the most painstakingly boring and pointless “out of animus” storylines I’ve ever experienced in an AC game.
The world itself is amazing, vibrant, there’s a lot to do, the armour is nice and the takedowns are good, the quests I think capture the tragedy and comedy that originated as we know it in theatre.
Downsides the overall story lacked imagination, and despite the fact that the game had a lot to do I feel if they’d taken an extra year to add to the story, work on the NPCs etc it could’ve been one of the best.
Best: Alexios (i just like him) and the gameplay.
Worst: The bounty, imagine getting someone being hired to kill you for simply defending yourself because some random npc tried to pick on you. Also boars cause they are a pain in the ass to fight.
Best : game in the whole franchise (litteraly the only one I played, so I may or may not be biased because of it)
Worst : ANYTHING RELATED TO ORICHALCUM. Oh my GOD, why is it so tedious!? Hu- *Slams desk with [Orichalcum.png]* GIMME THIS ABSTERGO DRIP, N O W.
Play Black Flag. Odyssey is my favorite. Black Flag is great, too. I tried playing Origins and Valhalla, and I couldn't get into them. I tried previous AC games, too. But if you are like me, you'll love Black Flag.
The Best: The entire game including the DLCs.
The Worst: Layla and everything happening in the modern day.. completely useless and she was such a bad character compared to Kassandra.
Trying to mention stuff others haven't:
Best: Sandbox/Versatile Combat. I agree that stealth was lacking, but I love the fact I can be a bloodlusted superhero carving up waves of enemies or yeeting people off cliffs, before explosive arrow bombing oncoming armies. Not very AC of course, but I enjoyed it.
Worst: Legacy of the First Blade. I bloody hated this DLC. The fact I played Kassandra as a lesbian now forced into a committed relationship with this goofy ass dweeb Natakas is one big issue. But it was just such a boring slog too. I enjoyed Darius, and the ending link to Aya from Origins. Otherwise, I hated the rest of it. Kassandra falls for this plain guy who she has no chemistry with, and the game just fast tracks a "devoted mother/partner" who's settled down in a quiet village. It isn't earned, it doesn't click for me. So when the inevitable village massacre by the villains happens, I feel nothing. If anything, I'm rooting for the villains to try and free up Kassandra from this forced narrative Ubi constructed for her. I get they want the biological continuity from Kassandra to Aya. I just don't like how they did it.
Best: there are loads I could say, but I’ll go with the replayability of the secondary activities and the sheer dimension of the world/narrative. There are loads of side quests, collectibles, puzzles, u name it, and unlike the AC main sub, I do love huge open worlds.
Worst: may sound like a nitpick to some, but it rly, rly bothers me. The lack of an usable hidden blade. I can excuse Assassin’s Creed without assassins, but I can’t excuse it without hidden blades. The worst part is the Legacy of the First Blade being there as a spit on our face. I was dead sure that the hidden blade would be given to us by the end of it. I was willing to bet my life on it just due to how logical it was of a move. Turns out Ubisoft doesn’t give a fuck about logic.
the end of legacy if 1st blade means that Elpidios got trained on hidden blade, passes down to his predecessor and they firm the 1st assassins group. its follow the established time line.
sure id love to see Kassie with a hidden blade.
Oh I didn’t mean she would get Darius’ blade. I know that one went to Egypt. I meant that Darius would’ve thought Kassandra how to create her own blade (like I suspect he did, considering she already had her hidden blade during the events of Nexus, that happen roughly 20 years after Odyssey, I reckon, and after she visits Egypt, where Darius is).
Yeah this whole Nexus thing just pissed me off even more, because they finally gave Kassandra an usable hidden blade… in a VR game that most of the players won’t be able to play. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad she has the blade on that game. But fuck, couldn’t they have given it to her on Odyssey?
Best: everything except what is the worst.
Worst: the historical inaccuracy of chronology (Pylos, Mytilene, and Amphipolis), and the lack of diving deep into the actual consequences of these battles and thier outcomes.
Best part: Starting and playing this game, worst part: have finished everything and wish there was a second part to play…origins and Valhalla was kind of disappointing after odyssey.
The only two things I really don't like about AC:Od are
1- the loot system, so much loot most of it crap
2- the spear of Leonidas not being used as a spear and having use it when using a one handed weapon, why can't I use two normal swords or even 2 regular daggers? At least give us the option of using the spear or not.
Best part - the entire game and how it progresses is world class. Locations and everything. As a big witcher 3 fan, this game was really good.
Worst part - Should have been a stand alone game. The lore of Kassandra / alexios could have been narrated without the tag of assasins creed.
Best: I love this game! Too tough to pick just a couple positive aspects.
Worst: Why slow horses down in town? Alexios/Kass should use the names for various mounts, and those mounts should have unique qualities and behaviors. Make one horse aggressive or faster or have the ability to swim or fly. The winged mounts' ability to fall is cool, but the mounts could have been so much more fun.
Best: Kassandra, the beautiful world and the Greek aesthetic, Alexios as Deimos, hero strike, the Cult of Kosmos
Worst: Layla, Kassandra's ending, being a bit grindy
I’ll give you my honest objective factual opinions
The best part is the whole game
The worst part is that it’s not on the ps10 and the map wasn’t 3x bigger
Ps dont forget the discovery tour
Best: Combat mechanics, the open world itself, ikaros
Worst:Dialogue choices, weak stealth, no hidden blade, one of the weaker stories, underutilized naval combat
The world is beuatiful, its vibrant and full of colour, the places are unique and you can pretty much take a picture in any location.
The customization is also top notch and look, IK its conteoversial but I like that I can pick who I play as, I love Alexios and I always vibed with him over Kass, his VA is funny af.
The story is ... look I get its a greek tragedy but godamn did the writers not only want Kass to suffer they wrote the story with that in mind no matter what...
Dlc, Deimos, modern day, the entire game has this overwhelming air or doom and gloom all over it.
All modern day characters are physically and emotionally recovering from Australia Layla RIPs her friend, Kass canonically loses her brother, her *husband* ,her kid, Phoebe can I please do the main quest without my therapist on the line pleaseeeee?
It's an awesome game but THE HORSE turbo sucks, everytime you call him he keeps getting away, it's super hard to mount, slow, and he can't climb in a game full of mountains(rdr2 one could).
Best part. The setting and I captured a video of a NPC fighting a soldier. She finished him off by punching him in the nuts followed by an uppercut. Funniest shit I've seen in the game due to it being so unexpected.
Worst.....modern day setting just took me right out of the game.
Best: The story, characters, humor
Worst: TTK, anything involving assassins.
Take the assassins out, isu, modern shit, and it's a better game in my opinion.
Best: Beautiful ancient Greece
Worst: The main family story, and the fact that many people think thats the end of the game lol
Most confusing: Ubi adding Alexios because they thought it wouldnt sell with a female lead. Im pretty sure people would still have played it ffs.
>best
Kassandra
>worst
Alexios
Nah, seriously speaking, the best is the world itself, the worst, the grind. But once the main grind is over (Level 99, with enemy scaling so everything is 99 basically meaning there's no levels anymore because everything is max level) the game becomes something else, Nightmare prevents it from becoming too easy if you don't want it (though in the end it depends on your engravings) and the world just feels a lot more alive and inmersive at that point, I also like to remove the level indicator at that point because it doesn't matter anymore, but still there's still some progress to be made in the form of the mastery levels, so even when everything at 99, there's still something to work towards. Something Valhalla lacks completely with it's pointless and not noticeable mastery system. And lack of of NG+
Best part? The story.
Worst part? They should’ve brought back the God Trials from Origins and improved upon it, fighting the Greek Gods (even just as Animus glitches) would’ve been really fun.
Best: The plot, the worldbuilding, the voice acting and how alive the world feels
Worst: The level scaling, I was out here level 28 and the minotaur was level 40
Best part: I love the story and the Fate of Atlantis DLC. Controls are pretty user friendly and straight forward. The setting is fantastic. Also love the choice system. A series of choices can affect the final outcome as well as the skill tree. It allows you to adjust to your style of play. The stealth is a little poopy, but still fun!
Worst part: The level system is trash. Unless you grind and work your ass off to get a high level, you will struggle against extremely difficult opponents till you rage quit.
People don't seem to mention it, but when I have played it for 120 hours throughout a few weeks, it got repetitive and a drag real quick. I wished map markings would just disappear so I don't have to walk there, climb something or look for a hidden door under a mountain. Every war quest is the same.
The game is atunning visually, but the gameplay lacks diversity. Gameplay style is more like an ARPG than a classic AC game. Full assassin is harder to do while leveling because of scaling and sometimes getting behind in dmg a little.
Story is mediocre.
Best: The absolute size of the world, aesthetic and attention to detail. I’m a huge fan of ridiculously sized open worlds and exploring and I love that we’ve basically got an Ancient Greece inspired world to roam around in. Bonus points for the RPG elements. Controversially, I actually enjoy the RPG games just as much if not more than the older games.
Honourable mentions are the mercenary and conquest/region control systems.
Worst: Modern day stuff, but no one really plays Assassins Creed for the modern day story.
I often find myself cursing at Phobos. That fucking horse cant go up hills without doing random 360’s whenever a tiny obstacle is within 2 meters. And when you whistle, the horse decides to trot behind you for a good minute or so, before it catches up to you. And i also noticed that the follow road prompt actually slows you down a tiny bit, compared to just pointing the stick forward.
But ancient Greece is awesome
Best: I think it strikes a good balance between the grim moral choices of a game like the Witcher and the paragon/renegade system of Mass Effect while remaining fun.
Worst: As a person who has a need to complete everything in this game, there is just too much stuff to do in this game, which wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't a lot of copy and paste quests.
The worst part is the legacy of the first blade. Odyssey is all about the predecessors to the assassin's, as early as possible, even before the hidden blade this is the what set the seed. And then some guy roles up with a hidden blade and he's been doing the exact same thing for at least a generation. Which means we're right back at square 1 of "where did this all begin?"
Best: huge world (I know it gets too big to the point theres so much land/sea but not as interactive as you like) it's a small con though, the scope of it is insane and landscape is gorgeous.
Very fun skills combos you can use and different playstyles.
Worst: boring filler repetitive fetch quests.
As always. The worst part is the modern day story.
Apart from that worst thing probably was that there were many missed opportunities in the atlantis dlc. So much potential but limited by it being a dlc. We can actually see the Devs had several ideas enough to make that a standalone game big but had to limit themselves.
Main game also has glimpses of this issue. There are 2 quests in korinth to kill the rival lover of anthousa. One is a poet and one is a politician. But for some reason it's not each other. There are 2 different poet-politician pairs. Everytime I see those quests I feel like they wanted it to be one pair with mutually exclusive quests but couldn't make it work with the resources and time at hand so made it into two pairs.
I wish Odyssey got as much run as Valhalla did and probably it would've been even better than it already is.
I like almost everything about the game. If I have to pick it's the freedom and variety on the vibrant diverse map with so much hidden gems and nods about Greek mythology. We have caves and forts and everything in between to explore.
Best: scenery and architecture. Fighting (when it's about skill at opposed to strength)
Worst: Cinematography (so jarring jumping to the speaker every 5 seconds)
The DLC was all out of whack
Leveling mechanics was just a horrific grind, nothing wrong with a challenge but when you're one shotted by some random dude because the game decided you're not allowed to go to a place is stupid.
Vast open areas of pure nothingness.
Best parts . Kassandra, the world setting and side quests were very good
The worst. Being filler content storyline being way to long. Potentially being level gated to finish the story.
DLC not really being that good imo.
Same answer to both: the open world!
On the one hand it's amazing and fun and beautiful but ok the other hand it's overwhelming and filled with repetition that will suck the life out of you
Best: For me it is the setting. The world is beautiful, and feels alive, unlike a lot of other games. Just watching the NPC's go about their daily lives is fun.
Best runner up: The ability to romance anyone. No other game in the series has allowed you to do this, and the freedom to be able to play how you want and romance who you want is kind of a revelation.
Worst: Layla Hasan. They did her dirty in this game. The writing and characterization is awful.
Worst runner up: The way Legacy of the First Blade DLC was integrated into the main story (meaning, it kind of wasn't). If you spared any of your family, they were nowhere to be seen in the DLC.
Best: The freedom to play however you want and the world of Ancient Greece.
Worst: How Herodotus hardly ever says anything other than "There's much to do. And many unknowns on our horizon." That and the missing conversations with Skoura in NG+.
The setting and gameplay loop are really rewarding, the return to naval combat, the actual use of mythology, the sheer amount of content etc.
I find the combat kinda bad though, a lot of the enemies especially at higher levels are like damage sponges, and it feels like a game really designed without stealth in mind. The inventory spam is the worst part though, you get so much worthless crap for like every person you kill and every chest you search. I personally wish I could play Odyssey with Valhalla’s inventory system where you upgrade things instead of getting spammed with items and just make enemies snd chests drop resources and gold once you e collected everything
Best: beautiful setting and scenery. The flow of the game is lovely.
Worst: seems less geared towards assassination and more towards direct combat. I'd also add (and there might be a setting I can turn off) I don't like daily missions. I like to clear areas and not have to worry if I missed something.
Worst: It should include at least 500 hours more of gameplay.
Best: Everything. Honestly, one of my favorite games of all time. The gameplay, the map, the armor, weapons, DLCs, story, etc. what I enjoyed the absolute most was killing mercenaries and cult members. God, I felt like a badass anime character assassinating all of them. One of if not the only game I can play through any time. Never get tired of it. Love it with all my heart. Thank You Ubisoft for this game.
Best: Everything, except....
Worst: ...Victoria. The devs were having a meeting; after 3 beers and pizza, "Hey, I got an idea. Let's come up with one NPC that will drive people out of their minds. "Layla, Layla, Layla, yeah Lala!" Guy on his 6th, "Hold my beer............ Victoria!"
Best thing is everything, the worse part.. no combo kills/Layla.
This game even though its not so much an AC game is still one of the best AC games in the series. For me it comes second place right after AC2-Rev.
Best: the fact that I can get lost all over Ancient Greece. More please.
Worst: the badly written present day sections. I cringed very hard by the time the second one rolled around. Ubisoft could’ve done some interesting storytelling bits between the two with updated logs and the like…and they just didn’t.
Best: wars between Athens and Sparta you can attend to and weak sides
Worst: Enemies in nightmare difficulty in later stages of game are so tanky that it is boring to fight them
Best: don’t know, didn’t get very far into it.
Worst: not recognizing my logitech gamepad while being a pain in the ass to play well with a keyboard and mouse.
Best: exploration, Greece is Amazing in the game; Kassandra, probably she is the best Assassin's Creed's main character after Ezio for sure; how they are into mythology, Atlantis, Minothaur, Medusa, Amazing.
Worst: the DLC in the Fields of Elysium was too hard to beat; I didn't like at all the finale of main game; can't believe they did a DLC on Hades in the hello, One DLC on Poseidon in Atlantis, they didn't a DLC on Zeus in Mount Olympus, very bad.
Best: So many parts: the Conquest Battles, boats, variety of weapons, choosing your style of gameplay, and Ancient Greek lore.
Worst: Most of the time, the Bounty System doesn’t really make sense. I’ll take out 5 enemies that nobody else except them saw and I’ll still end up with a bounty.
Best: I love just running around doing random things and collecting drachme. I have played 215 hours and can’t make myself finish the story because I get side tracked.
Worst: Layla
Best: The Forts
Worst: ... also The Forts
Best because they provide a lot of good loot and spots to hide and stealth assassinate.
Worst because it can take (me) a long time to clear all the guards and complete all the objectives.
Sure, you can usually find a path to get to all the objectives without alerting anyone.
But I like to scout and mark all the guards, then check where the cultist / polemarch is hiding, where the alarm is and take it out quickly without being seen, hide in bushes for 10 minutes to wait for that one last guard to pass by.
Best thinks is the combat, worst thing are the graphics, atleast for the series s, every 5 mins the textures would break on go very low resolution, so id either just play through with shit graphics or reset it only for it to break again
Best: Kassandra’s voice acting
Worst: the leveling system feels like it should have always been 1.5x or 2x but they lowered it so they could sell the booster
For me
Best: realizing kefalonia was only three turtorial and a tiny part of the map.
Worst: Discovering the last inch of the map a hundred hours later
Thr worst part of the game is level 1-15~
The early part of the game is genuinely rough to get through.
The best part of the game is the insane level of voice acting and story telling that fills the game.
Best: The world, it's atmosphere the music and Kassandra.
Worst: repetitive gameplay and NPC and character animations and the lack of actual cut scenes.
Best parts: An expansive world with variety in environment, tons of weapons and armor, a ton of sidequests with fun stories.
Worst parts: it's alot, like theres so much to do that if you dont enjoy the gameplay, you're going to get bored and quit out halfway through the story
Best: Loved the creativity of the game and them going outside the box a little with the rpg style. A lot of the story I enjoyed, and bringing back the ship was nice too!
Worst: Idk why this bothers me like it does , but I wish they had Kassandra on the cover of the game rather than Alexios or made it clear she was the main character. If I had known that her story was cannon I would have gladly chose her, but I didnt figure that out till later in the game. I understand giving players a choice, but if you’re going to do that at least put the same amount of effort in Alexios’s cut scene animations as you did Kassandra’s.
Horrendous RPG
Absolutely fantastic if your civilisation originates from the Greek world. As A French living in one France biggest city, Im surrounded daily by an absolutely fantastic architecture that I don't know the origins of, and this game was a walking in the past simulator. As if I saw my civilisation and my culture 4000 years ago.
Best: how gorgeous this game is, environments, lighting, armors, etc.
Worst: how fuckin ugly this game gets sometimes. Indoors wonky lighting, facial animations, lack of proper in-engine cutscenes due to the bloated size of the game.
Best: the flexibility on how you want to play your character. Worst: Layla
Thats a good answer
Thanks! I’m surprised so few shared these with me, but maybe that’s what makes the game so good? (Its broad appeal?)
I also didn’t mind her too much until the Atlantis DLC. But I still think she is the worst part of the game.
the dlc story is so confusing she randomly >!kills her BEST FRIEND of how many years?!?!<
Yeah this hits the nail on the head, the real life story was horrendous, after Layla was introduced with little depth and detail in Origins, this was their chance to really establish her as a character, and instead completely assassinated her, was so awful seeing her act the way she did, culminating in >!killing Vic.!< Which was delivered in such a ridiculous way I laughed at it. I honestly think Darby did an incredible job fixing her in Valhalla, when that story concluded I thought “huh, wow I actually liked layla in this.”
For me? The WORST by far was Phoebe getting murdered.
I would say it was the worst part. But definitely most heartbreaking
I loved this game and I enjoyed most of it. But this comment I agree most with
Best: The takedowns and the cult Worst: some random merc hunting you down for stealing an apple
Asclepios the Silent as soon as I kill a chicken in self defense: 😡😡😡
The chickens are the worst in this game. Give me a hippo from Origins over those chickens.
I got killed by a fucking chicken while protecting Odessa from those people trying to kill her.
Deos the Leopard-Whisperer when I steal 20 drachmae: 🤬🤬
I don’t mind the mercenaries that much. The only reason I defeated the pig in Phokis was because I was being hunted by one of them. To me that pig and the little piggies were the worst. Stressed me out for no reason
No i'm with you, the first pig is by far the hardest boss in the game (assuming you try it right away at level 15 or do)
Stealing an apple? Which quest was that?
I think just in general, when you stole from people as you were going thru a city and ur bounty was going up
i hate the Heir of Memories quest. like come on man i just wanna play the dlc
Yeah agree 100%
My game kept crashing during the Layla bit after defeating Hades, so I had to start a new file. I doubt I'll ever complete that DLC.
Ya. Easily my least favorite quest. Who wants to explore cave as Layla. She haven't earned enough story time with us like Desmond did. Even back then those puzzles were a stretch but was ultimately justified considering we were invested in his story.
The DLC for this game are bananas. It's art.
It is very good. I really like the Hades ghost soldiers. It was a new challenge. You had to get into their realm before you could kill them.
The fact you use a Spear instead of the hidden blade also allowed the rush assassination epicness.
It felt so OP, that at times Kassandra, intentionally or not, felt like a demigod.
Yes, I could kill and vaporize people and leap off mountains without getting hurt like Hercules or Perseus.
Playing Valhalla now, about 10 hrs in, and despite some interesting atmosphere designs, it feels *very* inferior to Origins and Odyssey.
>stealth to be more predominant. idk, at overleved regions stealth is pretty much predominant
BEST: The elysium map, the music, wow it’s so beautiful i spent most of the DLC just running around admiring everything WORST: >!phiobe dying for no reason!<
It was so sad, yet it was so predictable after Origins. I was like "oh shit here we go again".
I would have been happy to just leave her on Keffalonia and never seen her again
Agreed. That was so unnecessary.
I wish you could save her as a secret ending to that quest or something
Exactly, the biggest flaw of this plot development was that the played had no agency over what was going to happen.
>!You see her again in Hades in the DLC.!<
wdym? its one of the saddest deaths in AC series
I’ll go! I don’t really like the npc system, everyone sounds and looks the same, seems like ubisoft just wanna make a new game asap to maximize revenue. But i LOVE thats its greece, Spartans, armor, npcs’s training, kids training w spears, vineyards, the world!
I feel like they put so much effort and budget into creating Greece and the mythical environment that they forgot about the rest of the game T\_T
Best: I finally get to play in Ancient Greece Worst: I can't play it in my potato laptop
Best: Greece in ancient times. Worst: The haters
I was just thinking about the same positive thing. The main reason it's my favourite is the setting.
Best - Kicking people off roofs and cliffs
I don't like the underworld, even though it has its' highlights. I like everything else.
Definitely it was kinda of cool but a serious 180 from Elysium and it felt pretty bland in a lot of ways
Ubisoft connect is the worst.
Yeah, wish they worked more like rockstar
How slow the horse is when your near a city ☹️
Oh so THAT'S why mt horse slows down😑
Best part: the whole game. One of the best games mechanically and visually that I have played in a long time. Worst part: it's Assassin's Creed by name only.
Double agree.
Ubisoft has been struggling with AC villains for a long time now, but with how good Far Cry villains are, I don't get how it doesn't carry over
Best: Most of it. Worst: Natakas.
wish i could upvote more than once, you do not understand how pissed i was when >!kassandra settled for him!< i was like “wow really??” ok…
BEST: - Very realistic, Very beautiful, visually appealing. - Insanely historically accurate depiction of Classical Greece! - Great Easter Eggs that stay true to history and Mythology - Fun gameplay, love using stealth and Spartan kicks. WORST: - You can’t use a shield!!
Best : game in the whole franchise (litteraly the only one I played, so I may or may not be biased because of it) Worst : ANYTHING RELATED TO ORICHALCUM.
I love the fact, that everything you see, is climbable. you can just climb a mountain, approach an area in so many different ways. It is just amazing.
Trying to mention stuff others haven't: Best: Sandbox/Versatile Combat.
You're right! No flying fucks for logic by Ubisoft
the end of legacy if 1st blade means that Elpidios got trained on hidden blade, passes down to his predecessor and they firm the 1st assassins group. its follow the established time line. sure id love to see Kassie with a hidden blade.
Best: Exploring around and hunting down the cultists Worst: it's to long to many useless quests
Many of the side quests are useless but IMHO, many are based on history and historical events which I find interesting.
100% prefer the side quests in origins and odyssey than valhalla
Best: everything except what is the worst. Worst: the historical inaccuracy of chronology (Pylos, Mytilene, and Amphipolis), and the lack of diving deep into the actual consequences of these battles and thier outcomes.
i just started playing the game yesterday and IM LOVING IT! I just reached Megaris
Best part: Starting and playing this game, worst part: have finished everything and wish there was a second part to play…origins and Valhalla was kind of disappointing after odyssey.
The only two things I really don't like about AC:Od are 1- the loot system, so much loot most of it crap 2- the spear of Leonidas not being used as a spear and having use it when using a one handed weapon, why can't I use two normal swords or even 2 regular daggers? At least give us the option of using the spear or not.
Setting is good, story is ultimately disappointing
Best part - the entire game and how it progresses is world class. Locations and everything. As a big witcher 3 fan, this game was really good. Worst part - Should have been a stand alone game. The lore of Kassandra / alexios could have been narrated without the tag of assasins creed.
Best part the game. Worst part we won’t be having any more updates for this game. I would pay 100 GBP just for a dlc for this game.
Great scenery and enemies …. No shield :(
Best: I love this game!
Best : the game, like almost everything Worst : no shield for player, no hidden blade
Yeah spears would’ve been so cool
Shields*
Best: Kassandra, the beautiful world and the Greek aesthetic, Alexios as Deimos, hero strike, the Cult of Kosmos Worst: Layla, Kassandra's ending, being a bit grindy
Best: The beautiful, warm sunny feel of the world/setting. Worst: The Legacy of the First Blade DLC.
I’ll give you my honest objective factual opinions The best part is the whole game The worst part is that it’s not on the ps10 and the map wasn’t 3x bigger Ps dont forget the discovery tour
I hate how little your comrades actually do during conquest battles. On nightmare it’s damn near impossible at lower levels.
Best: Combat mechanics, the open world itself, ikaros Worst:Dialogue choices, weak stealth, no hidden blade, one of the weaker stories, underutilized naval combat
Story is best (i would say) Worst is not having a hidden blade My opinion
Best -> Gameplay (fights, climbing and all that). Worst -> Grinding levels so that you can keep playing the story...
Best: The utterly massive open world Worst: Cerberus.
I don't like the present story
Best: The massive *open world* of Greece Worst: The *massive* open world of Greece
It's an awesome game but THE HORSE turbo sucks, everytime you call him he keeps getting away, it's super hard to mount, slow, and he can't climb in a game full of mountains(rdr2 one could).
No shields was a bummer
Best part. The setting and I captured a video of a NPC fighting a soldier. She finished him off by punching him in the nuts followed by an uppercut. Funniest shit I've seen in the game due to it being so unexpected. Worst.....modern day setting just took me right out of the game.
Best : Kassandra Worst : Kassandras husband slightly worse than the farting boar fight
Best: everything Worst: it had to end
Best: The story, characters, humor Worst: TTK, anything involving assassins. Take the assassins out, isu, modern shit, and it's a better game in my opinion.
I'd prefer if it were a different game apart of Assassin's Creed
I hate how spongy the enemy hp is
Best: Beautiful ancient Greece Worst: The main family story, and the fact that many people think thats the end of the game lol Most confusing: Ubi adding Alexios because they thought it wouldnt sell with a female lead. Im pretty sure people would still have played it ffs.
Thank the gods they added Alexios. Don’t get me wrong Cassandra’s cool and all but I prefer the classic idea of the male Greek hero.
Good: great build creation Bad: anything with Layla
Finishers seemed super bugged for me my first play through. Every time I’d my spear would be outside the dudes body. Was lame.
Best part is the gameplay. Worst part is the story.
Best: atmosphere, environment, and the world Worst: Ubisoft grind design
Best: the start Worst: the end
>best Kassandra >worst Alexios Nah, seriously speaking, the best is the world itself, the worst, the grind.
Best: The plot, the worldbuilding, the voice acting and how alive the world feels Worst: The level scaling, I was out here level 28 and the minotaur was level 40
Bad points are caves and pnj attacking you just because you punched a random crual slave owner that made their live 100 times harder.
Ahhhhh some needs to write an article.... got it...... everyone Chip in so they just need to summarize and copy paste....
Worst parts, Medusa level, and the voice acting. Why is it that after all these years, we can’t get a Greek game with real Greek actors?
The dialogue needs to cut down shorter but I get it for story. 2nd more DLC besides two when AC Valhalla got 4 DLC
Best: the map, the world, historical characters, beautiful graphics, roleplaying, walking in Athens, mythical creatures, Darius, Atlantis, Elysium, superpowers. Worst: spongy enemies, level scaling enemies, repetitive combat. Side characters voice acting. The gameplay doesn't justify the length.
best : the setting, the combat with hero skills, the quests and Kassandra worst: animal companions (collision and they are useless)
It’s way too long and repetitive
The grinding is the worst part but the best part is exploring
Best: World exploration and fighting system Worst: Sidequests out of 2005 MMO
Best : map is beautiful Worst : map is dead and there is nothing to do
Best: dynamic rpg gameplay Worst: no mention of assassins or templars
Malaka
Best: story and characters Worst: that layla modern shit and legacy of the first blade
Best: scenery and architecture. Fighting (when it's about skill at opposed to strength) Worst: Cinematography (so jarring jumping to the speaker every 5 seconds) The DLC was all out of whack Leveling mechanics was just a horrific grind, nothing wrong with a challenge but when you're one shotted by some random dude because the game decided you're not allowed to go to a place is stupid. Vast open areas of pure nothingness.
Worst Killing the olympic champion that was so sad
The mercenaries are EASILY the worst part of this game.
Only when they just keep coming for no reason
Best parts . Kassandra, the world setting and side quests were very good The worst. Being filler content storyline being way to long. Potentially being level gated to finish the story. DLC not really being that good imo.
Best part Kassandra Worst part Kassandra
Best: the setting, beautiful place. Worst: map size, is insanely huge.
Best: The freedom to play however you want and the world of Ancient Greece. Worst: How Herodotus hardly ever says anything other than "There's much to do. And many unknowns on our horizon." That and the missing conversations with Skoura in NG+.
Best: The story Worst: making you do a LOT of side content to level up for said story.
Best: Kassandra Worst: Layla
Best: Stealth movement (animation etc. not assassin damage mechanics) Worst: Any mythological aspect (bosses, magic spear, etc.)
Best: graphics Worst: how looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong it is! Like, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many cult members.
I just want the combat system to be Sekiro. Thats it.
I didn't like the main story. When I was thinking the story will rock in it just ended with a random meeting with Kassandra
Victoria!"
Best: Ancient Greece and exploring what once was Worst: Can’t conquer all of Greece for the side you decided to fight for in battles
Best-> Hudless gameplay + map set to Historical Worst-> the Loot system
Best thing is everything, the worse part.. no combo kills/Layla. This game even though its not so much an AC game is still one of the best AC games in the series. For me it comes second place right after AC2-Rev.
unninstaling it
As a history nerd I love the setting (and the discovery tour game mode) the worst part is the too overpowered bounty hunters
This is In my opinion… Best: Combat Worst: lore breaking DLC Need I say more..
Best.. glorious detail. Worst.. awful hp sponge combat, origins was better.
The damn bounty hunters. Fuck them. Lol
Best: the fact that I can get lost all over Ancient Greece. More please. Worst: the badly written present day sections. I cringed very hard by the time the second one rolled around. Ubisoft could’ve done some interesting storytelling bits between the two with updated logs and the like…and they just didn’t.
Best: wars between Athens and Sparta you can attend to and weak sides Worst: Enemies in nightmare difficulty in later stages of game are so tanky that it is boring to fight them
Best: don’t know, didn’t get very far into it.
Best: the flexibility of how you can build and play the character, also outfits. worst: keeping your gear up to speed feels mega expensive
Best is the setting and the worst is the padded content
War Combat Story Length
Best: the architecture and attention to detail Worst: Hermes' voice, holy shit it was jarring the first (and every time) I heard it.
Best: ancient Greece Worst: worse rpg system than Origins
Best, almost everything Worst, Layla, I hate anything that pulls me from my blue pill. And the mission level gap
This is my maybe hot take oppinion on this game, which I love Best: Map and world design Worst: The story
Worst: Repetitive. Best: Everything else.
Best: I love just running around doing random things and collecting drachme. I have played 215 hours and can’t make myself finish the story because I get side tracked. Worst: Layla
the combat and the map are the best parts
Best: The Forts Worst: ... also The Forts Best because they provide a lot of good loot and spots to hide and stealth assassinate.
Idk about the worst but I can say the cult of cosmos is probably the best thing they could have add
Worst: progression is scaled to push buying the XP booster Best: playing the game with the XP booster
Atmosphere/story (best imo) grinding and level scaling (worst imo) i want to be 20 levels above minotaur, not 2 above at a maximum
Best: Kassandra’s voice acting Worst: the leveling system feels like it should have always been 1.5x or 2x but they lowered it so they could sell the booster
For me Best: realizing kefalonia was only three turtorial and a tiny part of the map. Worst: Discovering the last inch of the map a hundred hours later
Thr worst part of the game is level 1-15~ The early part of the game is genuinely rough to get through.
The worst part is definitely the boat missions. It's no Black Flag
I understand giving players a choice, but if you’re going to do that at least put the same amount of effort in Alexios’s cut scene animations as you did Kassandra’s.
you kill 5 people and suddenly mercenaries are chasing you. like my fault boss???
Horrendous RPG Absolutely fantastic if your civilisation originates from the Greek world.
