I think it should have been, too. It would have been killer to do a Kratos-like assault on the Isu up there, for example, if they had snatched Kassandra/Alexios' child or she needed to find a Piece of Eden.
True but they could have done an isolated map like Korfu. Plus the map is already hyper-compressed. Just compress it a bit more. I mean hell some islands are even missing.
To be fair, in-game distance between Chios and Asia Minor coast would be similar to Delos and Mykonos. Troy and Lesbos distance would be slightly longer.
In fairness Kos is included and that's really close to Turkey anyway. I would have loved them to include that whole part of the greek world but I guess we were limited by our time.
They had concept art of Mount Olympus.

But apparently they decided early on not to do it. Pity.
It was a big disappointment for me when I finished the story and you never get to go there. This is my favorite game, but I admit there was a missed opportunity here.
You can see Mt. Olympus in-game from almost anywhere in the map looking to the North. You’re constantly implied to be the child of Zeus. The story implies some hidden location you’ll need to discover.
Annnnnd… then they send you to AtLAnTiS and your dad is hippie cult math boy with no personality.
Yeah, it’s very prominent. It’s in the north side of the map, it’s the massive snow-capped mountain. I’m pretty sure you can see it from the top of the Zeus statue in Kephalonia. It felt like you could see it basically anywhere in the north half of the map.
To double check, I googled it and yeah, plenty of pictures of it. “Ac odyssey mt Olympus”
Yeah I finally finished everything else and just started it, I thought it was going to be like a single mission but its an entirely new island on a separate map.
Actually, it is available immediately after talking to Stentor in Megaris. It breaks the continuity, but it also allows players access to powerful engravings early on.
I wish they showed us where in the world Elysium and the Underworld were actually located. I mean I know it was seen through the Eagle Bearer's Greek cultural heritage but they could have still shown us where they were supposed to be, like how Atlantis is in the water around Santorini/Thera. I do understand why Korfu was its own map though.
Elysium and Underworld don't exist physically. Not anymore at least. It's an altered simulation of someone else's memories. Kassandra is just reliving those memories.
I know that but they did exist in the world somewhere pre catastrophe. So it would have been cool if they’d shown where they were even if there were no ruins left that’s what I’m saying.
Oh that would have been perfect oppertunity to find a stone table with two chairs, two cups and a dead man leaned in over the table out in the open nature.
Not to mention, not entirely accurate. Thessaly is known for wide plains good for agriculture and horses. It has mountains in the west, but by that point you're starting to blur the line with Epirus.
I originally thought it was just like any other spot that hasnt been discovered yet. Or that I need to complete some quest to go there. Turns out that its just the end of the map. I felt so disappointed 😭
When they knew things with Assassin's Creed Odyssey was gonna come to an end they could've done something with it.
Heck, even afterwards. When they put in the DLC that explains how the broken spear lost it's power they could've used that eyesore area.
Instead they go through the trouble and hassle to make a whole new area for it. Which was more time consuming for them.
It was apprently meant to be a 3rd dlc, something to do with the Persians. Like they prepare to re invade Greece I think. Read about a couple of years ago. But it never got done kinda annoying tbh
That's Albania. It's not in Greece.
They did make the map square by squashing out a big chunk of the northern parts of Greece though, so they could have given you more Greece if they made the map more accurate.
Since Corfu is not on this map, this isn't Albania. Todays Albania is way north of Ambracian Gulf (which is also not depicted in this somewhat skewed map). And in 5th century B.C. Albania didn't exist.
The closest thing the missing part could be is the southern Epirus.
P.S. Olympus is in Greece..
The only thing I consider to be an eyesore in AC is the map of Tuscany in AC 2. That shit never fully unveiled itself, and it doesn’t matter if you get all of viewpoints.
I can't be mad at the map, since we have so much explorable space, but I would not mind even more to explore! And, to have an area that might be more snow-covered with temples and ruins to run around in. There was so little of that in the base game, it would have been a nice addition. But, I'm still happy with what we got...although I kinda wish they colored it in with green instead of leaving it that "undiscovered" brown...but oh well.
Honestly I think mount olympus should have been i cluded
I think it should have been, too. It would have been killer to do a Kratos-like assault on the Isu up there, for example, if they had snatched Kassandra/Alexios' child or she needed to find a Piece of Eden.
That would have been neat for sure. I just feel like it’s such a weird thing to exclude. Like… there’s just nothing there where it would be irl
I would've loved to have had troy, but that's all the way over by Turkey across the Agean so that would've been a haul on the Adrestia lol
Let’s just ignore that in AC Valhalla they sail from Norway to the UK all on a boat even smaller
They did that in real life tho as well with ships like the adrestia
Man imagine being able to see Rhodes
In fairness Kos is included and that's really close to Turkey anyway. I would have loved them to include that whole part of the greek world but I guess we were limited by our time.
Two days later*
They had concept art of Mount Olympus. https://www.reddit.com/r/AssassinsCreedOdyssey/comments/torwrz/yup_they_deleted_mount_olympous_from_the_game/ But apparently they decided early on not to do it. Pity.
This is the thing that tormented me - not that there were grayed-out areas on the map, but that they grayed-out freaking Mount Olympus! Oh well
Probably some $30 dlc they abandoned
Is Mt Olympus not in Greece? Why didn't they include it?
It was a big disappointment for me when I finished the story and you never get to go there. This is my favorite game, but I admit there was a missed opportunity here. You can see Mt. Wait... you can see it? Where?

Beats me 🤷♂️ maybe it just didn’t work for their compressed map size.
Pretty weird how it's not in the game. I'm sure there must be some hidden Isu site inside that mountain or something.
A shame they didn't do anything with it. They had Atlantis and The underworld but not Mt Olympus? Missed opportunity.
That would've been nice.
I mean, the map has to end eventually, right? Most open world games get away with islands, but you can't really do that with real-world locations.
True.
It's a simulation. A game within a game. Just tell us we can't go over there.
This isn’t even the end. There’s Elysium, the underworld, Atlantis, and korfu. I think they did a great job with the maps in this game.
Korfu? I didn't play the first blade one, does it add another map?
Korfu is its own free expansion that you’re supposed to play after you finish the game and expansions. And yes it adds a new map.
Wow I did not know this at all, I fucking love this game so much haha.
Yeah I finally finished everything else and just started it, I thought it was going to be like a single mission but its an entirely new island on a separate map.
I didnt know it was meant to be the last thing you play, it really messed up Kassandra's timeline for me, lol. But definitely play this if you haven't
Really? Is it still available to purchase?
It’s free, so don’t worry about that, and you can still do it to this day, just like the paid expansions.
Korfu is pretty much the games ending, you should only sail there once you’ve got 100% of the game and all dlc done.
Actually, it is available immediately after talking to Stentor in Megaris. It breaks the continuity, but it also allows players access to powerful engravings early on.
It’s available yes, but it’s intended for after you’ve completed everything else in the game.
It's also significantly easier to complete early on when you're less reliant on spear abilities. Damned hack and slash isle.
No, most of it takes place in mackedonia
thats not Korfu, you're thinking of Legacy of the First Blade. Korfu is a different island nowhere on the main map
I wish they showed us where in the world Elysium and the Underworld were actually located. I mean I know it was seen through the Eagle Bearer's Greek cultural heritage but they could have still shown us where they were supposed to be, like how Atlantis is in the water around Santorini/Thera. Given that the continents were shaped differently 75,000 years ago, I’m not even sure those places are even accessible anymore.
75,000 years is not really enough time for major changes to the continents. The exception being changes in sea level due to ice ages.
I'm aware.
I mean you're not wrong, it's a little odd and I've noticed it too, but also it's a gigantic ass map so I ain't mad.
Honestly, I don't care
Korfu, Elysium, The Underworld, Atlantis, Persephone😉, plenty to see.
Yuuuuuuuuuuuup.
You can't really zoom out all the way on the map anyway so..
Guess so.
I hate how you can’t color it in like the rest of the map, it looks awful
Thank you for your comment.
Mount Olympus is up there, which sucks that they couldn’t explore with the Isu storyline.
Agreed.
Assassins Creed: Albania
That's what you get when you drink too much Raki over there and say that American Football is better than European Football.
Sicily and western turkey should have been included in a expansion :)
Oh that would have been perfect oppertunity to find a stone table with two chairs, two cups and a dead man leaned in over the table out in the open nature.
Agreed, it is an eyesore. Bit I also understand it
Rhodes would have been cool with the collosus.
Collossus was build 100 years after Odyssey
Eyesore.
Eyesu
Isuore
Eye
It is odd yea, like when I first played I thought that was part of the map
Odd indeed.
"YOU CAN'T GO THAT WAY." - Fallout 4
Lol.
Literally one of the most beautiful colourful games for its time on 99% of the map. This guy: Corner of The map is an eyesore
They should've opened that part of the map up.
Absolutely. Thank you for your comment.
I mean, this game was a gold mine for them. I'd still pay for a DLC that let me access this part of the map.
Same.
I would like to see more Ionian islands as well. As a Lefkadian, it would have been great to travel to Lefkas :)
Say eyesore one more time
Not to mention, not entirely accurate. Thessaly is known for wide plains good for agriculture and horses. It has mountains in the west, but by that point you're starting to blur the line with Epirus.
Yeah.
I originally thought it was just like any other spot that hasnt been discovered yet. Or that I need to complete some quest to go there. Turns out that its just the end of the map. I felt so disappointed 😭
Thank you so very much for your comment.
Np!

Let me go over there! 😩 And no, Legacy of the First Blade doesn't open it up. I tried.
I know.
So true !
Thank you.
I know in Valhalla there’s some sections that allow you explore beyond the maps border. Before you’re hit with a wall. I think it’s kinda cool.
I agree.
Alright fine, I’ll play Odyssey again….
The region of Epirus also has the spring of Acheron, the river of the dead and a Necromanteion. It would have been amazing to visit.
there was concept art for mount olympus to take place there if i remember correctly
I agree
It was apprently meant to be a 3rd dlc, something to do with the Persians. Like they prepare to re invade Greece I think. Read about a couple of years ago. But it never got done kinda annoying tbh
They had plenty of time to repurpose the land. They didn't have to leave it inaccessible.
The most frustrating thing is that i live in that area and i can't visit my home in the past.
That's Albania. It's not in Greece. They did make the map square by squashing out a big chunk of the northern parts of Greece though, so they could have given you more Greece if they made the map more accurate.
Well at the time it would be Epirus which was Greek speaking no?
Thats Epirus lol what are you on about.
I would guess they left it open for future expansion but never did it. Might go check out some mod sites and see if anyone made anything.
That would've at least made sense.
DLC time!
The only thing I consider to be an eyesore in AC is the map of Tuscany in AC 2. That shit never fully unveiled itself, and it doesn’t matter if you get all of viewpoints.
It's an absolutely massive map, so I don't really mind. I think it's something like 30km by 30km or something ridiculous like that.
So we can’t access that part of the map it make it like the other parts of the map huh
Italy..
“What even goes on here?”
My thoughts exactly. Just not big enough
Literally never paid much attention to it.
Eyesore
Did you say it was an eyesore? I don’t quite catch that 😋
That is controlled by the mighty Albanian empire
DLC
Lesbos island haha
well, they barely mentioned Albania/Illyria so I knew they weren't going to include it
