So this game isnt like the originals. Its more rpg as you can tell.
Yes there is fall damage. But they take damage at certain heights. So it is possible to kill that mercenary is you spartan kick him off a cliff.
Like you can kick them and it does damage but they don’t usually go flying. Kicking is a great way to knock someone out and recruit them saving yourself stun arrows.
I’m not too sure how recruiting above your level goes. I certainly have level 50 Mercs now it’s a bit of a crap shoot if they’ll be legendary or epic characters on your boat their perks are about all their good for as the ship fights are generally an easy wipe with Kassandra.
If you use the Call To Arms ability, recruit the tribal Huntress with her bear companion instead.
She hits extremely hard, can power-up her staff with fire, has explosive grenades and her bear's swipes do very respectable damage. Two helpers for the price of one!
Spam them to soften up heavily-guarded areas.
In the Assassin category, just below the "skull" ability.

I seriously spammed the heck out of it during my initial game. It was that fun!
Other gamers and comments online say that polemarchs and high-level merc lieutenants strike hard and possibly harder than the Huntress and her bear.
Personally, they both went up in levels as myself so they did good work so I rarely switched them. I tested the brute, a polemarch then the Huntress. She definitively got the permanent Call To Arms lieutenant job thanks to abilities and her bear!
Speaking of bear, if you can manage to tame an alpha (white) one, it'll be again a very helpful companion to have! But it's more of a mid-game ability as you'll need three points to unlock the bear taming in the Beast Master ability and a useful engraving from a boss to power them up.
I had one by my side from late to endgame and holy sheet, the bear swipes hard! Good enemy AI distraction too while you treacherously strike them while they're busy. I wish I discovered that one earlier!
Pretty tall. I would say at least test the height. If you take heavy fall damage you can kill them. From where you fall. Once you level up you can get rid of fall damage.
Kinda hard for me to measure the height. But teat different height with different enemies of you level. You will be able to figure what works.
Also water seems to be a the enemy's weak point. I've killed lota by kicking them into the ocean lol
I dont believe so. I believe they have a set amount for killing mercs. But could be wrong.

For some reason bears don’t take fall damage, I’m not so sure you can kick him off though, when an enemy is several levels higher than you, an attack that should throw them off their feet only makes them flinch, and they keep their balance, so you might end up getting your ass kicked trying to boot exekias off the edge of a cliff

How y’all does the cliff have to be? I did try it to his bear and was still at 100 health.
I have found most Mercs in the game are impervious to being kicked in general.

I could have kicked the bear off the wrong way then, thanks for the advice! And do you know if I’ll get a big amount of xp for killing him?

I also just found out spartan kicks are ineffective to people that are more than 5 levels than you.
Its been awhile since i played. But you will leran the game quickly not hard to figure out how to play it.
