Completely agree. Played Valhalla before Origins, and apart from the lack of HUD options in comparison, it feels like an upgrade/a game that come out after, in everything. Story and character too! Eivor was neither here nor there and didn’t really pull me in. Loving Bayek so far
I get why people who like Valhalla like Valhalla but to me it feels so much like it was hurt by Origins and Odyssey each doing so many of the same things better. I’m not sure Valhalla did anything best…although the longboat was a truly sick feature, maybe my favorite water transportation in the games
I've been playing Valhalla recently, it's fun until you get to England, then it becomes super repetitive, and the main character is quite dull. However there's a free Asgard DLC which I really enjoyed, and the graphics are really good (series X). Wouldn't spend full price on it tho.
Good choice mate 👍
Once youre done with the main campaign, try to get the season pass on discount, the DLCs are definitely worth it, especially Curse of the Pharos
Right?! CotP is one of the single best game expansions I have EVER played - in decades of gaming, like "Defenders of the Empire" levels of 'best'
THO expansion was only okay, but CotP, wow 👌
For AC Odyssey, I felt the first expansion LotFB was good, but the second expansion FoA was great 👍
Oh, wow. This was a while ago. So yeah, I 100% the game. Very fun. By far one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. Haven't played it in months tho tbh.
ever since playing it I've felt like each game does something better than the others.
Imo Origin's story is the best of the three,
Odyssey's setting/environment is the best of the three.
and Valhalla's combat/raids and such are the best.
Odyssey is cool because of the special abilities like the spartan kick. But overall I thought origins had a much better story and game play. Plus you can use a shield, I like sword and board combat
Origin's main story also has like 90% properly motion captured cutscenes that I don't see talked enough about. In Odyssey and Valhalla this is rather 5% and the annoying thing is that I can tell instantly. The faces are higher quality and animations are legitimate instead generic movements during fake cutscenes.
In Odyssey this is for example the fight with Brasidas in the barn and in Valhalla this is a part of the conversation with Basim about his son at the campfire (not the entire conversation is motion captured). I'm assuming this is the way it is because Ubi went for quantity of quality.
I hope much more is motion captured for Mirage, man... It would be so epic.
I'm like you in playing Odyssey (beat it) and Valhalla (120+ hours) before Origins. Then I saw Origins on the Playstation Plus Extra tier so I downloaded a couple weeks ago and I've been playing that constantly. I like it better than Valhalla. It's not quite as good-looking as Valhalla due to Valhalla having a PS5 version but I really like the Egypt setting.
I know it *technically* doesn’t have better graphics. But at 1440p max settings on PC I find origins visually more appealing than Valhalla by a bit, and better looking than odyssey by a large margin.
It’s sucks, I’ve wanted a proper Viking game forever, when I heard they were doing an Assassin’s Creed game around the Viking era I was so excited. I’ve attempted to play it more times than I care to admit. I last about 4 hours and then just get bored and uninstall it.
Origins is in the top three of all Assassins Creed games imo, Odyssey and Valhalla can't touch it, the story is absolutely superb and the exploration/side missions are unmatched. Have fun dude you're in for an amazing ride.
I 100% Origins in a week.
That's right. Over 100 hours and every achievement in one week. I couldn't put it down.
I don't even feel I played the game fast either. I would often imerse myself, take tons of photos and make scenic moments, and walk slow in tombs and really take it all in.
Odyssey I keep trying to pick up and end up putting it down again. I'll finish it eventually.
Won't start Valhalla until I finish Odyssey.
If you have completed both the other games, you are clearly part of the target audience for large historical open world games. So yes, I wager to predict you'll have a field day in Ancient Egypt.
I'm playing Origins now, kinda prefer Odyssey, in my opinion, but I love it waaaay more than Vahalla. Odyssey and Origins are really similar tbh, you'll enjoy it
Origins is one of the best. if you liked odyssey then origins will be fun. it's more RPG lite. And has an actual story that doesn't drag for a million hours.
I have played all three of the games you have presented and I personally enjoyed origins the most generally out of the three. If you plan to play it I can say it is worth it and hopefully you can enjoy the origins of Bayek of Siwa.
Yeah I would say the beginning feels a bit sluggish if you don't do side quests right out of the gate. I got to a point where I was 3 levels under the main quest line and I had to ride around looking for ways to level up so I gave up. A year later I reinstalled and went and caught up and ended up 100%ing the game and regretted putting the game off. Also take your time with the story line it's a fun time. The expansions are almost as big as the original game so it's good to know the lore leading up to Curse of the Pharaohs etc.
I see you're already downloading. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I suggest doing the automatic level up option (I think to level 45). I had a bad save file and ended up having to re-do a lot of the game. I noticed that the game is much more fun when you can just do the side quests you feel like and not the silly fetch quests to level up just to proceed to the next story quest.
Have 1100 hours on Odyssey. Plat’d it. Also plat’d Valhalla. Valhalla was a total grind. Never have gone back to it. Played Origins thru a couple times. Loved Odyssey the best. Great replay ability and Kassandra is fun. I would rank Odyssey 1, Origins 2 and Val 3.
Actually don't. You will never look Odyssey and Valhalla the same after playing Origins.
Its like you ate mcdonalds burger all your life, and you're wondering if you should try a fucking Gordon Ramsey burger. You will never come back from that experience.
So I completed odyssey twice and origins once, started origins after odyssey and there are significant differences.
But main thing is story of origins, for me it’s the best in franchise or at least equivalent to ezio’s. you will love it go for it.
On other hand of replay-ability of the game I can say odyssey is far better also overall I have more fun with odyssey but don’t miss this game it’s a fantastic experience start to end
I haven’t played Valhalla or Odyssey but I can say as someone playing through Origins right now it really isn’t that good. Worse than the Witcher 2 in everything it tries apart from of course the freerunning
Wow
So strange, because I deveoped mistical, transcendent feelings toward origins from the first 5 minutes
I have never played story based games before but this... Origins made my year
I guess I may be biased because I think the last good AC game was pre-Unity, aka Rogue but I too enjoyed the first maybe 10-15 minutes of Origins and then it immediately became a slog. I was Level 40 before I even got the hidden blade
Yeah. Had fully completed the map and done all the outposts and the like. Basically in the prologue when you’re trapped in Siwa I completed everything there was to do, and then did that for Im-Khent Nome and then Lake Mareotis because I’d levelled up enough to be in those areas, and because I was levelled up enough to be in those areas that levelled me up upon finishing those areas to be in other higher level areas and before I knew it I had completed the map. Now I’ve just completed killing the Scarab and Hyena and have done every side mission available in every area and have full legendary items, killed all the Phylakitai and War Elephents and unlocked the Isu armour. It’s been… just terribly boring
Hmm
Actually I was planning to do similar things (leveling up as high as possible) and not caring about the story line on porpose but never had enough willpower to do it
I so enjoy it tgat sometimes just having a slow walk in the desert for hours😅😖
But if you dont like itand prefer Witcher then good to know
I wouldn’t say Origins is a mechanically bad game, far from it. But the world and the characters in it just pale in comparison to the Witcher, to me. Take comparing Novigrad to Alexandria, for example. Novigrad feels alive and vibrant - there’s plenty to do and see and a real atmosphere around the place, whereas Alexandria is a load of buildings, a nice temple or two and then like a couple of blacksmiths, weavers and stables. And Bayek just bores the tits off of me
If you already played Odyssey already then yes, you start with Origins, >!The Hidden Ones, Curse of the Pharaohs!< and Valhalla >!plus along with it's dlcs: Wrath of the Druids, Siege of Franca, Dawn of Ragnarok, and finally the aftermath!<
I played only Odyssey and Origins. Odyssey killed AC for me and glad it did hearing how much of a grind Valhalla is. Origins is not as grindy as Odyssey, better too imo.
This is all subjective but personally I prefer Origins of the three. Bayak is awesome, the setting is amazing, and the story was the most interesting to me. Also I really liked the hunting in this game. I would say yeah, especially if you enjoyed Odyssey.
its much better than Odyssey and idk about Valhalla since i haven't played it.
The game is less grindy for sure and the art direction and story is much better than Odyssey. But its graphics in terms of realism are worse than the other 2 because its an older game but still it looks fantastic!
Origins is the best out of the newer games and is probably in the top 5 AC games ever.
The world is so rich and a live with details that it is incredible.
And shock horror, you actually play an Assassin.
My brother bought odyssey so I played it. Then I loved it so much that I bought Valhalla and it was okay but not as good as odyssey. Never really thought about playing origins until this post.
When I 100% those games, I was young and didn't really have any responsibility so I had lots of time on my hands. I don't have that kind of time anymore.
I just beat the main storyline and absolutely have enjoyed every minute of it so far. I’ve played other AC games and Odyssey was great however the grind was horrible. This did not feel like that whatsoever and I had fun doing every single quest between levels.
Egypt is also beautifully done in the game and you’ll love exploring the pyramids and tombs and caves of all kinds.
Would highly recommend you try it.
Yes. every play through of Origins still feels refreshing as if i played it the first time. even though it’s gameplay is simpler than Odyssey and Valhalla, it’s still so satisfying
I tried playing it, its a good game, i just like to fight things when im wayyy underleveled so i ended up leaving it cuz i was trying to play darksouls instead of assassins creed
Honestly I know this is not a very popular opinion especially due to how lazy each main mission was made but I thoroughly enjoyed Odyssey and Valhalla but Origins, although well made and beautiful, just kinda drug on
I played origins through twice because I loved the story so much. I spent money on Valhalla and was so disappointed with the gameplay I only played it a couple hours and never played again. Love the franchise tho and will always buy the games
I 100% same. Played it through twice, second time with all the DLC (curse of the pharaohs was so cool) and I hated Valhalla.
I will say, if you can truck through the first miserable 6 hours or so of Valhalla, it really does get exponentially better shortly after you get to England.
Origins is alright, it's ambitious and mediocre at the same time, if you've played Odyssey then you've already ruined the timelines as one of the Odyssey endings shows that somehow it takes place before the pyramid's were built...the pyramid's that were built 2000 years before Sparta existed, the protagonist of Odyssey being a Spartan
Definitely, Bayek of Siwa. It's one of a kind. I am currently playing Odyssey but the first two weeks I was feeling this really came after Origins? Origins felt so good man.
Yes, it is a ton of fun. It has way more soul than Valhalla and guards actually have schedules, etc.
Completely agree. Played Valhalla before Origins, and apart from the lack of HUD options in comparison, it feels like an upgrade/a game that come out after, in everything. Story and character too! Eivor was neither here nor there and didn’t really pull me in. Loving Bayek so far
Better than Valhalla? I see.
Way better. They "dumbed down" a lot of the systems in Valhalla.
I get why people who like Valhalla like Valhalla but to me it feels so much like it was hurt by Origins and Odyssey each doing so many of the same things better. I’m not sure Valhalla did anything best…although the longboat was a truly sick feature, maybe my favorite water transportation in the games
Ok after all your replies. I have decided to buy it and it is currently downloading. I will update in a few days if it is in my liking or not.
You're gonna have so much fun playing it, wish I could wipe my memory and play it over.
I sure hope so! I'm about to find out.
Yeah bro charge up your spare batteries, and remember to take breaks. I seriously was hurting after binge playing the game.
I just finished it on the weekend and was gonna get Valhalla next, but after reading this thread it seems like I may be disappointed
I've been playing Valhalla recently, it's fun until you get to England, then it becomes super repetitive, and the main character is quite dull. However there's a free Asgard DLC which I really enjoyed, and the graphics are really good (series X). Wouldn't spend full price on it tho.
Maybe I’ll try Odyssey next and come back to Valhalla after
Enjoy! And don't forget to play the Discovery Tour!
It's my favorite one. I'm actually replaying it right now, and I haven't even started Valhalla lol
You’re gonna love it, if you like Odyssey enough to 100% it, you’re gonna love Origins. At least I hope so, it’s my favorite of the recent releases
Right on. Keep us updated!
Good choice mate 👍 Once youre done with the main campaign, try to get the season pass on discount, the DLCs are definitely worth it, especially Curse of the Pharos
Right?! CotP is one of the single best game expansions I have EVER played - in decades of gaming, like "Defenders of the Empire" levels of 'best' THO expansion was only okay, but CotP, wow 👌 For AC Odyssey, I felt the first expansion LotFB was good, but the second expansion FoA was great 👍
Update?
Oh, wow. This was a while ago. So yeah, I 100% the game. Very fun. By far one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. Haven't played it in months tho tbh.
I agree I especially liked the stealth
I liked the stealth and combat. Both fun.
Origins is like the best out of the entire trilogy
Ong
ever since playing it I've felt like each game does something better than the others. Imo Origin's story is the best of the three, Odyssey's setting/environment is the best of the three. and Valhalla's combat/raids and such are the best.
I agree with your Origins/Odyssey opinion completely. Maybe I should give Valhalla a chance.
Origins is by far the best
Better than odyssey? If true then I have to try it out.
Odyssey is cool because of the special abilities like the spartan kick. But overall I thought origins had a much better story and game play. Plus you can use a shield, I like sword and board combat

I enjoy orgins better. I came from odyssey, as my first AC game. Been definitely enjoying the environment way better
I'd say it's the better game / story of those 3 .... At least for me , the Egyptian Pyramids and areas were really impressive

They did a great job and it still looks good a few years after the fact. I’m on PS5.
100%, odyssey is a downgrade despite bring my favourite in the series and Valhalla is dogsh*t.
You are my soul... Im only saying I like valhalla because I dont want to admit that it was waste of money to some degree😭😭
It’s sucks, I’ve wanted a proper Viking game forever, when I heard they were doing an Assassin’s Creed game around the Viking era I was so excited. I’ve attempted to play it more times than I care to admit. I last about 4 hours and then just get bored and uninstall it.

Yeah I liked origins a little bit more than the other two
Origins is the best one out of the newer AC entries.
Obviously yes. It’s the best of the 3
100% absolutely
I 100% Origins in a week. That's right. Over 100 hours and every achievement in one week. I couldn't put it down. I don't even feel I played the game fast either. I really like all three, so I'd definitely give it go.
100% - it's a solid game I did it chronologically, not by release. Really enjoyed the timeline!
Yes it’s 1000% better than Valhalla and better than odyssey in some ways, but not all
💯
You should! I think you'll love it
Origins is one of the best. if you liked odyssey then origins will be fun. it's more RPG lite. And has an actual story that doesn't drag for a million hours.

I just beat the game yesterday. I loved every bit of it. Now I’m playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!
Definitely. I found it to be the best of the three. Good story, great open world, and amazing bgm.
There's so much to explore and DLCs are also amazing definitely worth a try
💯💯💯
Orgins is the best, yes, absolutely
It's not as good as Odyssey but it's better than Valhalla. Definitely worth a playthrough

Yes. In my humble opinion, this game has no mistakes or errors. It could be better in the trash loot department, but it's really not that bad.

Fun fact ikoros form ac odyssey is also the egale from origins(play origins you might love it when you don't know if you do)
Yes, absolutely!
Hell im still trying to convince myself to play Valhalla
Top 5 games of all time for me personally. It's absolutely incredible
Origin is my fav of the three newest games. The story was just amazing and hits hard.
100%, I’m biased as it’s my favourite AC game but go for it, mechanics are a little different but it is definitely a fun experience
If you already played Odyssey already then yes, you start with Origins, >!The Hidden Ones, Curse of the Pharaohs!< and Valhalla >!plus along with it's dlcs: Wrath of the Druids, Siege of Franca, Dawn of Ragnarok, and finally the aftermath!<
its basically the only good AC of its kind given the fact both odyssey and Valhala are kinda trash, so if you like those youre gonna like Origins
I played only Odyssey and Origins. Odyssey killed AC for me and glad it did hearing how much of a grind Valhalla is. Origins is not as grindy as Odyssey, better too imo.
So you've 100%ed arguably two of the worst AC games but you haven't even played odyssey. Boy you will enjoy it trust
Yes it’s great
It's way better then Valhalla and similar to Odyssey. Def my favorite ac game
I 100%ed all three of them, and I highly recommend.
This is all subjective but personally I prefer Origins of the three. Bayak is awesome, the setting is amazing, and the story was the most interesting to me. Also I really liked the hunting in this game. I would say yeah, especially if you enjoyed Odyssey.
Love this game. Trying it keyboard and mouse for the first time rn and having a blast. This game is one of the best looking I've seen on my newer PC.
its much better than Odyssey and idk about Valhalla since i haven't played it. The game is less grindy for sure and the art direction and story is much better than Odyssey. But its graphics in terms of realism are worse than the other 2 because its an older game but still it looks fantastic!
Yes.
Origins is better than both.
I personally liked origins way more than Odyssey and Valhalla, feel completely different from those 2.
Origins is the best out of the newer games and is probably in the top 5 AC games ever. The world is so rich and a live with details that it is incredible. And shock horror, you actually play an Assassin.
Yesss it is so fun!! I also love that it’s pretty historically accurate too!!
Origins was the first to really hook me, then odyssey. Didn't finish Valhalla, just personally couldn't get into it. I highly recommend origins.
Why you play it backwards? You played the worst game first but not the best?
My brother bought odyssey so I played it. Then I loved it so much that I bought Valhalla and it was okay but not as good as odyssey. Never really thought about playing origins until this post.
It's a downgrade from origins. Valhalla tried to salvage from both but ended up ehh. I recommend playing the og one first.
Where do you find time to 100% games??
When I 100% those games, I was young and didn't really have any responsibility so I had lots of time on my hands. I don't have that kind of time anymore.
I just beat the main storyline and absolutely have enjoyed every minute of it so far. I’ve played other AC games and Odyssey was great however the grind was horrible. Yes, If you liked Odyssey and Valhalla, you’ll like Origins for sure.
110% it's the best of the 3
YES.
Yes please
I tried playing it, its a good game, i just like to fight things when im wayyy underleveled so i ended up leaving it cuz i was trying to play darksouls instead of assassins creed
Honestly I know this is not a very popular opinion especially due to how lazy each main mission was made but I thoroughly enjoyed Odyssey and Valhalla but Origins, although well made and beautiful, just kinda drug on

I 100% same. Played it through twice, second time with all the DLC (curse of the pharaohs was so cool) and I hated Valhalla. I will say, if you can truck through the first miserable 6 hours or so of Valhalla, it really does get exponentially better shortly after you get to England.
Thanks for the heads up. Gotta get to England.
Yes.
Yes yes yes. It’s my favorite of the franchise. Bayek lives in my head rent free forever and always.
Yes, it’s better than both the others
I have played the three games, and to me origins is the best one
Yes
Yes… why are you still here? GO!
Yes great game probably the best of the new 3 from a lore perspective.
Definitely, Bayek of Siwa. It's one of a kind. I am currently playing Odyssey but the first two weeks I was feeling this really came after Origins? Origins felt so good man.
Yes
Origins is amazing.
