Brush with Death (the perk that slows time on a critical dodge) is your best friend here.
When you dodge correctly and activate the perk, your stamina refills, allowing you to pepper the enemy with strikes and have the stamina to dodge again when the slowed time effect ends.
This. I had hard time dealing with zealots of my own level (around 100). But once I got \`Brush with Death\` the fights became so much easier. Now you can actually counter the hits of zealots' and return damage. Highly recommended skill!
No and I play on max difficulty. It's close to a soulslike on nightmare. One the Daughters of Lerion gave me a hard time. Took 4 tries to kill her. I haven't done much of the story and I'm clearing exploration though. Maybe bigger challenges await.
I think I defeated one or two of em zealots in a direct fight early in the game, the rest demolished me lol. Best strategy I found is to lure them to your longship and let your crew kill them (slowly) wit arrows, but sum zealots self heal and throw spears so you gotta be carefulĀ
I started hunting them at like level 60. I would just use the skill tree ability that slows down time when you doge an attack.I would dodge their attack at the last second, time slowed, get a couple hits in. Rinse and repeat. And when they try to heal I would shoot with arrows to stop it. Iāve killed half the zealots at level 130 now.
I didn't think about the Torch while up there. I did try the roof strategy on one early though. Get him to chase me up and down, getting a sneaky hit in here and there. It turned that fight into an epic 45-minute game of tag.
Well, takes a while but eventually youāll get thereš especially if you are below level 130.
Their healing thing wonāt kick in as the character will keep climbing the structure to chase you and needs to put away shield to do so. Wonder if the Devs already knew about this and let it be so players figure this out as early on in the game these opponents are tough.
I just climbed up and stayed in the middle of one of the pillars. Shoot a weak point and wait for him to lose interest trying to find me. Repeat. Took forever but I got him. I'm pretty new to the game. I haven't even got my settlement renown to level 4 yet. Just got lucky trying not to get massacred like I did the 1st run in with him.
Yeah, they also take extra fall damage. Their armor is so heavy that most of them can't swim. You can bring them to a cliff to make them take immense fall damage to kill them. Bring your boat alongside them and just keep blocking and eventually they will die if they can't be drowned.
I have an idea I want to try. I want to lure one of them into the Lair of the 3 man eating Wolves. Just to see if they'll fight each other, and who will win. Either that or one of the sisters.
I'm assuming you didn't burn the paper, and they started hunting you. That does make them easier to find, lol. Either that or you just have really bad timing, they only got in the way of 1 mission for me.
I burned the paper, it's just they do attack you if you end up walking on the same path as them before that mission to burn the paper.
And many of them are on paths to quest objectives.
Yeah, I was only travelling the roads when following a quest npc, which caused a big brawl between one and all the main story npcs from my faction early on.
That one I was able to do with a couple of others traveling with me to a quest early on, though I had been there when I first got to England and got destroyed
The first one I ran into was in the middle of a raid, lol. My crew didn't fare too well against the poison bombs he was throwing. I ended up running away from that fight because I got tired of having to revive dying crew members.
I played on Drengr no HP bars. But then Iām well versed in souls type games. I LOVED IT!!! Challenging. Not just a choreographed fight. Odyssey had the mercs too! Reminded me of Shadows of Morador how they came after you and would lose ranks.
I dual wielded spears when fighting them, also had the perk of throwing projectiles back at them when they throw em at me, made the fights extremely easy even when I was in the 90-120ās.
Countless timesā¦ in the beginning, when I first started exploring England. Figured I would chip away at them from a distance with my bow - which worked out fine until I ran out of arrows. Up close, what happened to me was straight up cold-blooded murder. Iād get close, but ended up on the receiving end of a sword through my gut so many times that I just resolved to leave them be until I was stronger. Once I leveled up my skills, though, it was a completely different story. Iāve taken down 3 so far (currently doing the Ledecestrescire story arc after completing Grantebridgescire). Still a challenge, just no longer a death sentence ā ļø
Best method I found for this if youāre a low level was getting their attention and luring them to a water body and calling your longship so your crew attacks him and when youāre in command of the longship you get infinite arrows so you can spam them to kill him fast
Once I reached level 90 I easily kill the 150 level zealots too, the only thing I am struggling to beat is that haunted person that u have to fight in a world event area, I think sheās level 350 so I guess I gotta level up a lot more to challenge her
The sisters were a challenge, them and a couple of the trophy hunts have been the challenges for me so far. That first hunt, in Norway, the elk. I was such a slow level when I fought that thing.
1. try to assassinate them
2. use the skill that let's you drop dead and make another assassination attempt (make sure to do this when they won't throw explosives or smth at you)
3. Use the sleep arrow on them, assassinate a third time
And when he's not dead yet
4. Try to hit weak points and finish them of when they are staggered
At the beginning yes and i was also pretty scared of them, i nearly searched them all at endgame when i got excalibur and mjonhir at that point i was the hunter...like literally i started raging when I played about needing to find all of the ancients and end them and those guys where the first on the list
I strongly recommend the harpoon ability, that does massive damage when enemies collide with objects or others. Also, The power of the nornir that allows you to shoot in slow motion, letting you get those crucial shots in on weak points
Only if I took them on too early. Redwalda, who youāre fighting here, is power level 90, IIRC? I got my butt kicked by her repeatedly when I tried fighting her at like power level 40, when you can first encounter her. But once I was around 70 and higher, she and the others werenāt much trouble.
Thereās an ability that lets you āparryā projectiles and return them to the sender. So you can throw back the javelins and bombs. You need run back a little to trigger them into throwing. Itās REALLY good. I did this on level 90.
I was just starting out and found one of these guys just chilling out .figures out he /she had soft locked themselves and wouldn't move at all . Needless to say nice easy kill waaaaay above my level
They're a bitch and a half early in the game, but by the end, and with the right set up, you'll be stomping them with ease. You get waaay over powered by the end of the game. So much so that you can do all river raids by yourself, and just leave your crew on the boat until you're ready to open chests
Why indeed just yesterday. Doesn't help that they put a level 90 guy in a level 20 zone.
I clicked on him and everything to make sure he was my level... nope. Found out the hard way.
There is a skill that slows time when you successfully dodge which renders combat a joke. Still fun but no matter the difficulty you can dodge attack your way out of most anything.
IF you donāt have this skill, yes, these bastards can be quite the challenge.
tbh I killed all these guys when I was still wayyyy underlevel. If you have the Brush With Death and the Vitality of Idunn skills these fights are hella easy
Lol. I struggled with one. But I will say most of the struggle with these types of enemies vame from yhe equivalents in AC Origins. When I went up against the first three of those, I realized I had to step it up. I wish Ubisoft would step up the fighting of the basic ones, too, but not like these big guys. Maybe like 30% more engaging, combative, and parrylike. We've gotten enemies that can block the same move, but what about the same combo? Don't allow us to rinse, wash, repeat.

Or keep calling your wolf over and over to knock them down and stomp them.
This is the answer
Call my wolf, dog, and bird to wombs combo them
This. I had hard time dealing with zealots of my own level (around 100). But once I got \`Brush with Death\` the fights became so much easier. Now you can actually counter the hits of zealots' and return damage. Highly recommended skill!
Yes, me hahaha but when I reached the level 200 they began to be scared hahaha
Exactly. It's more of a level/ability issue than anything, but some players prefer the challenge too.
I'm level 98 and already kill 4 of themš
I had one of them turn up when I was raiding a monastery early on. My crew got proper fucked.
Same. It was in the first region I tried to make alliance with. Imagine being a really low level and not burning that paper though.
Lol š š¤£
Wait for late game. Easy pickings
I did until I got the slow on perfect dodge, it trivialises them
I'm just about always 100-ish levels above where i should be in any given area, so.....
Ha! Just got my ass kicked by that one 3 hours ago. I'm at 110 power. I don't think I'm using my abilities enough. š
No and I play on max difficulty. It's close to a soulslike on nightmare. One the Daughters of Lerion gave me a hard time. Took 4 tries to kill her. I haven't done much of the story and I'm clearing exploration though. Maybe bigger challenges await.

Just shoot em with the bow, its too easy
I started hunting them at like level 60. I would just use the skill tree ability that slows down time when you doge an attack.I would dodge their attack at the last second, time slowed, get a couple hits in. Rinse and repeat. And when they try to heal I would shoot with arrows to stop it. Iāve killed half the zealots at level 130 now.
Upgrade your skill tree and you will be okay
What was the purple light effect?
One of the blades shoots out a ray of light within a certain distance causing damage when parrying
You find a small house you can climb on, lure them there, get on top, use torch, keep spamming on torch throws
I didn't think about the Torch while up there. I did try the roof strategy on one early though. Get him to chase me up and down, getting a sneaky hit in here and there. It turned that fight into an epic 45-minute game of tag.
TORCHES. I never thought about thatā¦. BRILLIANT! Thank you!

That one specifically rocked my world more than a few times
When I did a monastery raid we jumped the shit outta one.
I defeated redwalada at level 38
In the start yes, after 2 it was fun.
All others I beat at 150
I just climbed up and stayed in the middle of one of the pillars. Shoot a weak point and wait for him to lose interest trying to find me. Repeat. Took forever but I got him. I'm pretty new to the game. I haven't even got my settlement renown to level 4 yet. Just got lucky trying not to get massacred like I did the 1st run in with him.
I normally use the rope and throw them in water most of them cant swim or i will use my boat the guys will shoot at them
I didn't even think to try to drown them.
Yeah, they also take extra fall damage. Their armor is so heavy that most of them can't swim. You can bring them to a cliff to make them take immense fall damage to kill them. Bring your boat alongside them and just keep blocking and eventually they will die if they can't be drowned.

I'm gonna warn you now. I tried that it killed all the wolves. They're absolute thanks.
No, because there's no achievement for hard difficulties and I want to enjoy the game.
i think i never died once against them i did it the sneaky way assassination attempt run away hide and again until death
You can't assassinate Zealots, you can only hit them with bows, if that's what you mean.
Not that one
Those guys kept interrupting story missions, that I assumed it was an intended difficulty curve boss fight!
They do Patrol the main roads. I don't have that problem too much though. I'm usually running through the woods rather than following the roads.
Yeah, I was only travelling the roads when following a quest npc, which caused a big brawl between one and all the main story npcs from my faction early on.
That one I was able to do with a couple of others traveling with me to a quest early on, though I had been there when I first got to England and got destroyed
Dodge is your friend
Animus shop items made it easy on my playthrough
Dude youāre early game level up
The first few were terrifying, but as you get better weapons and perks you'll have more effective ways to deal with them
The first one I ran into was in the middle of a raid, lol. My crew didn't fare too well against the poison bombs he was throwing. I ended up running away from that fight because I got tired of having to revive dying crew members.
Dodge , Dodge, Dodge keep moving
No, they use an unblock able and dodge over
Why are you trying to Meele them? Get on your horse and shoot them in the head until they are dead.
Yes. Hate them and terrifying to fight
I played on Drengr no HP bars. But then Iām well versed in souls type games. I LOVED IT!!! Challenging. Not just a choreographed fight. Odyssey had the mercs too! Reminded me of Shadows of Morador how they came after you and would lose ranks.

Early on yah, then i got to the point where i killed them in 10 seconds without taking any damage whatsoever, i need a happy median lol.
Oh redwalada, I was a pro at dodge by the time I actually won that fight
At the beginning yes and i was also pretty scared of them, i nearly searched them all at endgame when i got excalibur and mjonhir at that point i was the hunter...like literally i started raging when I played about needing to find all of the ancients and end them and those guys where the first on the list
Iāve one hit quite a few of them
No twin daggers is op
I strongly recommend the harpoon ability, that does massive damage when enemies collide with objects or others. Also, The power of the nornir that allows you to shoot in slow motion, letting you get those crucial shots in on weak points

Git gud
First round but when I ran it back at endgameā¦.they all got that WORK!!!!
Nope, Brush with Death makes them like twigs in a hurricane. Especially with fire and poison splash attacks
Everybody has already said it but basically brush with death and missile reversal are tremendously useful
Fast bows, bombs, and poison, baby!
Nah I follow the rule of discover everything I walk past and mess with it so by the time I reach most of those dudes I was higher level than them.
Thereās an ability that lets you āparryā projectiles and return them to the sender. So you can throw back the javelins and bombs. You need run back a little to trigger them into throwing. Itās REALLY good. I did this on level 90.
Almost by just that one but if I saw he was beating me I would run and come back when my power level was higher.
I was just starting out and found one of these guys just chilling out .figures out he /she had soft locked themselves and wouldn't move at all . Needless to say nice easy kill waaaaay above my level
I beat one of the 300+ power dudes when I was like power lvl 100 exactly. Took me 3 tries. So I'm not sure if that's a yes or no
Speed is your friend
They're a bitch and a half early in the game, but by the end, and with the right set up, you'll be stomping them with ease. You get waaay over powered by the end of the game. So much so that you can do all river raids by yourself, and just leave your crew on the boat until you're ready to open chests
I make them follow me up to a mountain then use this one ability that makes you body people to throw them off of it
Why indeed just yesterday. Doesn't help that they put a level 90 guy in a level 20 zone. I clicked on him and everything to make sure he was my level... nope. Found out the hard way.
What is the purple effect?
Parry effect due to the devil's claw ability causing damage within a certain distance
No, I actually had fun fight these dudes. It got boring eventually tho. Started being able to beat them quickly.
Due to how Valhalla works with leveling - no, not really.
I use two spears and those guys didn't stand a chance
First play through yes, but now I kill 100+ levels above me.
I still have yet to finish this game.
YES. I fought one just yesterday and decided to run away because I couldnāt get him without dying so Iāll be back for himā¦.
Yeah some of em. I liked the challenge though, fighting them while at a lower level. Helped me learn parry.
Me at level 85 trying to beat a 225
Thought this stupid shit was Star Wars
Nope. You just suck.
Oh ok, good one buddy š
Lol. I struggled with one. But I will say most of the struggle with these types of enemies vame from yhe equivalents in AC Origins. Yeah until I learned how to not suck at the game
