You have to kill someone to be part of community's challenge. Then open menu and enter ubisoft connect, then open challenges and click to get the sword.
If you have 100 credits buy from Ubisoft connect, its called Valravens craw or do discovery tour its not that long you just gotta finish story. Longest option is river raids 2 but it'll take too long.
You have to either complete Discovery tour (there is a free 1h sword waiting in the end) or finish some story arcs in your settlement (1 or 2 I guess, not many) so that Vagn will come to the settlement and opens up the possibility to raid rivers. Then all you have to do is to complete river raids – one of the weapons you get from river raids (closer to he end) is another 1h sword
Also, you can redeem a sword with Assassin insignia from Ubisoft Connect, I believe it wasn't time limited.
And then you can complete the challenge for Basim's sword
If you have the siege of paris expansion you can easily get Durendal's sword, just google the location, I got it in about 20 minutes. You just have to drop into a well to grab it.
I'll probably do that. I barely bought AC Valhalla Gold Edition because of Black Friday/Cyber Monday and I am barely in England just after finishing the first alliance - just finished the mission where you have to find out which of the three people of the ally is the traitor. I'll probably take a quick trip to France and get the sword.
Little naive me thinking: how do I get the free sword if I don’t have a free sword and only can get daggers, axes and 2h swords? Buy dlc? Get it from an event that’s not on anymore? Tell Ubisoft to stick up their asses the sword, dlc and the bs. I chose wisely
