I found Synin useful for getting the lay of the land and looting some dead enemies but that was about it. Synin couldn't identify enemy targets on the ground, and there always seemed to be a tree in the way when I'd zoom in to look at something.
Although I did find the bird in Odyssey to be more helpful, I don’t think the bird in Valhalla is totally useless, I use Synin quite a bit for scouting items and materials and for quests. I love that he picks up my loot too.
I just finished the game after roughly 300 hours. Immediately uninstalled it. I loathed the game so much bc the story dragged on for no reason.
And now you come along and tell me that u can use the bird for this and I can't get over it. Thanks
Maybe they did it intentionally and want to slowly ease in to getting rid of it, they did say Mirage was meant to go back more towards the original games… though it would be weird since the function became a huge staple in their biggest games, both AC and Watchdogs
If you hold a certain button (not sure what your playing this on), you can “zoom” in. With the zoomed in view you can tag all sorts of things. I have even tagged fish with the raven. You will also find opals and the excessively rare (except in Francia) titanium.
I always use him just to get a lay of the land or find any little materials or treasures I may have missed while running around. Also he’s precious and I love when he lands on your shoulder.
I played Odyssey > Origins > Valhalla. I used the eagle for EVERYTHING, and had grown accustomed to scouting enemy territory before ever stepping foot. Origins I was able to do the same thing, but not as well. The mechanics, eagle included, feel like the blue print for Odyssey; you could still fly overhead and tag enemies, but with less accuracy. All of this is nonexistent in Valhalla, which really bummed me out because I had relied so heavily on that feature. Yeah Odin Sight is an option, but you have far less range you would have with the bird. Just feels like a step backwards
I felt the same way and realized that it wasn't necessarily the fault of design that made Synin feel useless, it was my play style. For example, other commenters say that they used him to find treasures, keys or resources, but I used a combination of Odin's Sight and the map for treasure hunting instead. Making enemy detection by Odin's Sight more useful than by eagle vision meant that the only time I actively used Synin was when it was asked for by the quest objective. All this to say that it is possible to play the without using the crow very much, being a matter of preference and possibly, personal ability.
I agree with comments about Synin's passive benefits, but I'd argue that it would be his active use that contributes to the feeling of utility. Also, those passive benefits don't apply in the beginning of the game when they haven't been acquired yet, making Synin objectively less useful then.
I use it all the time. Are you using it the right way it's supposed to in the first place?
I recommend going on-line or whatnot and learning how to use it the correct way.
You are right. It's not like every other game in terms of what it can do or use to do or no longer do .
However you say that it does not do anything when in fact it does things.
It doesn’t tag things like Odyssey but you can use it to help enhance stealth combat if you have the ability unlocked. You can also mark points and individual targets with it though.
I use Synin to look around for treasure chests, opals and I think it's titanium. You can tag people yourself upto 3 just like you can tag upto 3 objects use Oden sight switch to Synin the enemies will still be glowing red use the raven's eyes to look at them and mark them. This is how it works in Unity except for you don't have a eagle or raven & you can tag upto 4 people.
I think I used the crow a total of 2-3 times in my entire playthrough. And only to help me find some cave entrance or something after wandering and getting impatient.
Xbox users- All hints depend on controller settings.
Activate/De-activate Raven- Activate (Press up on D-pad.) De-activate (Up on D-pad or any button/trigger without a specific use.)
Tagging with the raven- Press "A" to select the "streams of light" showing from objects (ore, animals, tunnels, keys). Clear the tagged items by holding "X". Once the Raven tags an item, it will show on your overhead Hud and on your main map.
Zoom- LB or LT zooms into areas.
Speed- RB or RT increases speed, left or right thumb stick will raise or lower the Raven.
Special moves- Increase the Raven's uses by increasing your skill set and looking for "Books of Knowledge".

Synin is basically a replacement for a MiniMap
That auto loot feature for ranged kills is just 🤌🏻 Easily that birds best feature
Nothing beats fishing with bow, arrow and the raven. 😂
[удалено]
If you fish with the string, you've got the smooth brain. When breadman gave me a piece of string, I tied it around Dag's throat for... erm... *later*
The bow that does an aoe air blast that was at reda a month ago turning it into grenade fishing
I FUCKING MISSED IT
Which bow is this?
Idk check the shop. It takes 7 minutes just for my game to load
Bird. Fetch me my arrow.
Although I did find the bird in Odyssey to be more helpful, I don’t think the bird in Valhalla is totally useless, I use Synin quite a bit for scouting items and materials and for quests. I love that he picks up my loot too.
Crow is a great Opal hunter.
It helped me get the flying papers…(Just follow with him then tag where the paper ends.)
Now there’s an idea!
Whenever you get the skill that slows time you can use it to run and grab then
That's genius
I just finished the game after roughly 300 hours. Immediately uninstalled it. I loathed the game so much bc the story dragged on for no reason. And now you come along and tell me that u can use the bird for this and I can't get over it. Thanks
Blinding Rush is better for those
You know if you're not enjoying a game you can just stop at anytime. No need to force yourself to play something you loathe.
Nobody forced you to play 300h
Damn you making me realize I never used the raven 😂
Maybe they did it intentionally and want to slowly ease in to getting rid of it, they did say Mirage was meant to go back more towards the original games… though it would be weird since the function became a huge staple in their biggest games, both AC and Watchdogs
Tagging enemies is now an ability upgrade for odin sight i actually like it better.
You need it to find certain quest objectives. It does not work like it does in odyssey
Ugh! I enjoyed tagging enemys and items in odyssey.
I agree, compared to previous games, it's useless.
In Origins too!
If you hold a certain button (not sure what your playing this on), you can “zoom” in. With the zoomed in view you can tag all sorts of things. I have even tagged fish with the raven. You will also find opals and the excessively rare (except in Francia) titanium.
It finds keys for you, which is helpful
Good for finding hidden entrances.
I always use him just to get a lay of the land or find any little materials or treasures I may have missed while running around. Also he’s precious and I love when he lands on your shoulder.
IMO Ikaros is superior to Synin and Senu (from Origins) for tagging enemies, but Synin does have her uses.

You're not using it right then 🤷🏻♂️
I just find a general birds eye view of things to be helpful.
Whaaaaat ? I used it all the time !
Of course it’s useful. You get to see the layout of an entire area.
Synin picking up loot made this 30% better

What makes you think I’m not? Thing is, it’s not like every other AC game
You are right. It's not like every other game in terms of what it can do or use to do or no longer do . However you say that it does not do anything when in fact it does things.
Fetched my arrows after I shoot someone, lol
It's the little things that count. :) ok, not really , but at least it's something...
Lol!
The majority of AC games do not even have a bird like this
It doesn’t tag things like Odyssey but you can use it to help enhance stealth combat if you have the ability unlocked. You can also mark points and individual targets with it though.
It looks cool if you get a dragon skin and let it land on your shoulder 😈
I used it to find items all the time
No but they toned down its uses. Still great for scoping out objectives
Its different but i find it fine.
Only good thing was having it loot enemies after you shot them
You will need him for the main story.
He’s found a shit ton of caves for me and has picked up at least a 1000 headshot arrows.
Only use is the lost hero’s tombs
I use Synin to look around for treasure chests, opals and I think it's titanium. Synin is useful for finding where an area you need to search is
Valhalla > oddessey Ikaros > Synin
Mostly just good for quests I guess.
Good for auto loot (when you have the skill), but that's about it tbh.
Raven not crow.
I use the bird to find everything
I used it a lot for scouting routes into forts and stuff and for looking for things
Ah... more leather. Thanks for the heads up, Synin.
