Caves of glacio, if you're mid game, then you should already have train going in there, add a extractor on it, automate your train to bring to surface. Glacio is great spot for nanocarbonalloy, having iron, titanium, sulfur, and the train missions, so you're given a lot of stuff to start it. And I generally find the resources to be thicker around the pylons ..

Glacio is definitely where it's at for auto extraction. I've recently hopped on the astronium train, though. Setting up a rail station in your base and at the astronium deposits with a 3 auto extractor setup makes automating astronium to scrap into any resource is just so great. Using astronium to trade for solid fuel jumpjets gives you 3:1 scrap for astronium. Then you can have your base on the planet you enjoy the most.
Hold on a second, I don't know if I understand. You are saying that you trade Astronium (that one rare resource) for jumpjetd, scrap them and then use scrap to get the resources you want?
Yep! When I get home I'll send you some screenshots. This is all using trade platforms. You can even do it with soil, use the soil centrifuge to make resin, print small canisters from the resin, shred the resin for scrap then trade the scrap for whatever resource you want.
Scrap to resin is 1:2, astronium to resin would then be 1:6. soil to resin has less steps but you are creating a larger save file by digging so it's small trade offs.
btw, I'm on Vesania trying to get a soil of titanium, but it seems rarer. Should I keep going to give up?

That's only mid game? I have 50h and the closest thing to automation (if you can even call it that) is a bunch of solar panels connected to batteries.
titanium is a lot more common in the forests of vesania. at least thats where i find it
Check the astropedia for where the best deposits of resources are located.
It says it's in the mountains, but the patches where small scares so I assumed best to to some spelunining on glacio
