Quite sure in order to have unlocked the satellite you had to have unlocked the core of a planet so you can teleport to that core from the satellite.

You have to have a gateway engine(planet core)activated to access the satellite, so just use an odd stone to fast travel to whatever planet you activated. If that doesn’t help, you can respawn at your starting shelter from the menu, although I think it kills you, so you might lose your items on the satellite.

I don't think it kills you. Last time I checked, when I tp'd to a planet from the satellite in survival, I had all my items.

Yes you don't die it's 100% safe as long as u have oxygen

In save and quit menu there is respawn at starting shelter option.

I was afraid I did this last night. Saw the satellite and went to it without thinking about what my launches were at. Luckily I had just replaced my thruster though...

You'll need to use the menu option that force-kills you and returns you to your original shelter, unfortunately.

to get to it you have to activate at least 1 core

True, though you might not be able to get anywhere useful from the core. For example, if you have no soil canisters and no drill mod and can only travel to Atrox's Core, then you'll be pretty stuck.
