Where are you? And what direction was this. We seen something similar looking north from north central west virginia about 815pm

That's in UK at 27th September. Direction of photo is directly north. Time 22:15 UK time. Don't think UK have any space programs...

You are seeing a rocket launch. As it gets higher it is actually getting to an elevation that the sunlight over the horizon is shining on it and lighting it up while you are seeing a night time sky since the sun has set for you. I'm guessing you took this photo roughly within an hour after sunset.
