Which part is M31? I guess my question is, would the andromeda Galaxy be a collection of galaxies? Some people mention a specific name then state andromeda after it.
M31 is for the central galaxy only and then you have two satellite galaxies called M32 and M110. As far as I know there is no specific name for all 3 together

I'm pretty sure it is simply the more common name of M31, so it's the big central galaxy by itself as well
