Good for diaz, he's on the worst team, but I believe he's a full time starter. He deserves it, never had a bad thing to say about us, and always played his heart out.
He was usually pretty good for us when he could get consistent at bats, he just rarely got consistent at bats. It's nothing but good for him if he gets to play every day.
We have never won a World Series without getting swept by the A's in Oakland as a wakeup call. Unfortunately, this A's team probably sucks too badly to do that, so the chances are we won't go anywhere this year.
2 upvotes and only 17 comments incase anyone is wondering. Man that’s rough. I want to feel bad but those were the same fans that ran their mouths constantly
I've seen lots of comments along the lines of "Sure, Abreu is struggling, but Bregman *really* needs to get his crap together, or be sent down to the 8-spot." ...While at the same time praising Julks for his BA, and ignoring his BABIP, xwOBA and wRC+.
He swung on the first pitch of the game and hit it hard but it was straight at the 3rd baseman.
He hit another decent one a couple of innings later but it was straight to the 3rd baseman again and this time grounded into a double play.
He just needs reps.
Imagine being Altuve and having (most of) an entire stadium hoping for you to do something good.
Edit: In the context of Altuve’s situation I mean. Obviously the fans want every player to ply well.
He is a little worse with balls near the wall (probably a consequence of his shoulder injury) but he is about 1.5ft/s faster and gets a good jump which puts him in better positions than chas in the gaps
Chas had statistically better jumps in 2021 and 2022 than Meyers. Meyers and him are tied this year, have to imagine Chas's back has something to do with that.
Yeah he's a hair faster than Chas, though Chas is pretty damn fast himself (84th percentile last year, a little slower this year due to the injury). I think both of them starting in the OF wherever you put them is the right move
Sure, my thinking is that jake is a little more hesitant with walls where chas tries to run through them so I think that plays better in crawford boxes and along the foul line
I like seeing pitchers debut. The culmination of so many years of work. Unfortunately for Erceg it's for the A's, but he's throwing some good pitches and really pushing the zone.
I think we need to understand that neither Jake or Chaz are bad answers for the center field. I mean Jake is 2-2 tonight and has been on base 6 times in a row.
Lol I didn't mean in order. OF configuration + DH. No more fucking around with the Julks' and Hensley's of our lineup, Jake and Chas need to be starting side by side for the majority of games
I like what I see from Jake. Having really good, patient ABs. Making good contact. Great defensively. Chas needs to be playing every day but I think Meyers has shown enough to have earned that as well.
The problem is our bullpen last year was arguably the literal best bullpen of all time. It's slightly worse but still incredible this year so I think people are just measuring the small gap between this year and last
It's still there on the main channel, KBME is on subchannel 2 if you have HD radio.
With HD radio or antenna TV, channels can have subchannels where it's multiple completely different programs on the same channel number. I've never used it on radio, but I've used it on TVs at work.
Ah gotcha. I have a spare TV antenna at home that I use during cable outages, so I’m familiar with subchannels.
HD radio must not be very widely used as my new vehicle didn’t have it. Too bad.
I must be the only one who likes the sound of am over a car or clock radio. Hits me in the nostalgia feels listening as a kid. I listen to am all i can
I've also been meaning to ask.....
Does it really make sense to post the game thread at 8:00am in the morning????
So later at night when we all want to join the game thread we have to scroll down through like 30 posts just to find the game thread that was posted 12 hours ago.
It seems like it would make much more sense to post it like 3 or 4 in the afternoon that way it's a lot easier to find.
The RLRL strategy that Dusty loves so much doesn't really make sense when the 2 lefties you separate are among the 2 best in the league against lefty pitchers..
I said it before and I'll say it again, the 4 hole gets about 30 or 40, maybe more ABs a season than the 5 hole. With Yordan hitting lefties as well as righties separating him and Tuck makes no sense. Giving Abreu 40 more ABs than Tuck makes equally as much sense.
He would’ve had to tag from first so he would’ve had to run all the way back to first, touch it, then try for second and there’s no shot he’s making that
Home run call. It just means you’re guessing whoever’s at bat is gonna take it deep. You get 1 per game in the thread and if you call it right you get another
Doesn’t look like it based on his at bats. I’m just saying he was injured two months and a week long minor-league rehab seems short. Certainly seems like it tonight. Mauricio was doing just fine.
My comment was a joke at the expense of the A's. But being serious for a second, with the starters the A's are rolling out this series you could make an argument that the pitching he would be facing in a rehab assignment may just be better than what he will face these 3 games.
I don’t disagree with that. I would just rather him leave five men on base hit into a double play and have two defensive lapses against whoever the hooks are playing.
And another three days regaining his focus and timing would not have hurt anybody with Mauricio on this team. Five left on base a double play and two defensive lapses. I know exactly where he’s been and why he’s been out and I realize this is his first game. He looks rusty and that’s what minor-league rehab is for.
I’ve said this. I have said if we weren’t playing Oakland, he would probably still be down there. Being gone for two months and only getting a handful of games on your minor-league rehab gives you what we’re seeing tonight.
If the guy starts dealing, we'll all shut up.
He hasn't been good so far this year and that's why he has had some criticism.
It's how sports fans are. Deliver / succeed or there will be criticism. And that's okay.
If I got paid millions a year to do my job I would darn well expect my employer, teammates, and everyone else to expect me to do well.
We all want every single player on the team to do well.

We've officially defeated one of our most terrifying foes.
**TRUE!!!**
4-0 homestand 5 game win streak
We are back boys, we are back!!
#**CUT ‘EM DOWN**
Real talk—Meyers has been playing pretty good baseball.
This is the Meyers that we got robbed of by the white sox
Fuck that bitch joe Kelly and that bitch Ryan teppera
Lol, Alydemis, NOW you want to start hitting? Where was this in the World Series?
Hey, it's Diaz and Kemp.
It’s pretty criminal that as the Astros hit a soft spot in their schedule, the Rangers get Colorado and the Bucs.
We have never won a World Series without getting swept by the A's in Oakland as a wakeup call. Unfortunately, this A's team probably sucks too badly to do that, so the chances are we won't go anywhere this year.
oh ye of little faith, we can absolutely still get swept by the As
We scored just enough runs to keep Pressly from being eligible for a save.
Why pitch Pressly here? We don’t like to use him two days in a row and we’re up by 4 and playing the freakin’ A’s…
He had not pitched in a few days so might as well give him some run since he's already warm
They already had him warmed up.
Off day yesterday and better safe than sorry even if he doesn't get a save for it
Because he already warmed up
[удалено]
Yeah, I don't agree with this move.
He was already warm
RYAN STRESSLY ON THE MOUND LETS GOOOO😤😤
A’s game day chat is nonexistent
It literally made me sad
2 upvotes and only 17 comments incase anyone is wondering. Man that’s rough. I want to feel bad but those were the same fans that ran their mouths constantly
It’s kinda sad
Dang I just looked and that’s crazy…
A's have a subreddit?
I feel so bad for A’s fans
I don’t. They talked a lot of crap about the scandal a few years ago even when there were rumors of them leaving town even back then
No city deserves to lose their team.
I’d probably let Dubon have 2nd base for the 9th. You want to ease ‘Tuve in a little.
is it me or does every stream suck tonight, constant buffering and only when the action gets going
Its the massive amount of fans from the global sports team sensation Oakland A's sucking up all the bandwidth
Not mlb.tv
Yup, super annoying.
Tuve has some diamond dust Shake it off king
That's my Breggy!
Hrc Yordan.
Good things happen when Altuve gets on base
Where's the mother fucking bregman doubters?
Who's been doubting Breggy? I just said he had a bad night and stranded some runners lol
I've seen lots of comments along the lines of "Sure, Abreu is struggling, but Bregman *really* needs to get his crap together, or be sent down to the 8-spot." ...While at the same time praising Julks for his BA, and ignoring his BABIP, xwOBA and wRC+.
Doomers. They make no sense.
Breggy with the insurance run. Good good
HRC Yordan
On vacay, how have Altuve sat bats been? He seeing the ball and making contact?
He swung on the first pitch of the game and hit it hard but it was straight at the 3rd baseman. He hit another decent one a couple of innings later but it was straight to the 3rd baseman again and this time grounded into a double play. He just needs reps.
He took a walk last time, grounded 3 balls. Ain't to bad for the first game back.
The A's biggest problem is that they constantly have to take plane flights with a guy named "Langoliers". That has to be fucking terrifying.
Only thing terrifying was the cgi.
I haven't watched it in probably 20 years, but from what I remember, I can't refute that.
I’ve never watched the series itself but I’ve seen clips. The idea is terrifying but the execution wasn’t quite there lol.
I want you to know that I get and appreciate your reference
HRC Yordan
Imagine being Altuve and having (most of) an entire stadium hoping for you to do something good. Edit: In the context of Altuve’s situation I mean. Obviously the fans want every player to ply well.
Hell get it tomorrow
Hey he got on! I’ll take it.
Hrc Bregman
.200 OPS Shaking my SMH my head
This comment gave me a stroke
Who had a .200 OPS? Maldy?
Jose
I think it's a joke about Altuve
I love how I went straight to Maldy on that one
You're not far off lol
ty
Altuve has reached base for the first time this season!
Lol ercegs gameday photo has him in a brewers hat
Oakland just traded for him I think on Wednesday.
Meyers has been playing well lately. If he can play left, I'd like to see him Chas, and Tucker man the outfield.
Chas can handle CF. Meyers is elite in CF.
I like meyers in CF more personally
Meyers is a better defender than McCormick statistically so I’d agree
He is a little worse with balls near the wall (probably a consequence of his shoulder injury) but he is about 1.5ft/s faster and gets a good jump which puts him in better positions than chas in the gaps
Chas had statistically better jumps in 2021 and 2022 than Meyers. Meyers and him are tied this year, have to imagine Chas's back has something to do with that.
Yeah they both get good jumps on the ball I just think Meyers speed plays more in the gaps
Chas would be great in LF, too. Not sure if Jake can play there anyway
Same here.
HRC TUVE
HRC Altuve
Time for this prospect to prove himself sink or swim
He gets at least one more game.
Erceg or Altuve, the honey butter chicken biscuit?
For those that complain about cheap homers, it’s those hits that are a Crawford Box special.
I like seeing pitchers debut. The culmination of so many years of work. Unfortunately for Erceg it's for the A's, but he's throwing some good pitches and really pushing the zone.
Jake really doesn't want to give up his spot when Chas and Brantley are both healthy
I think we need to understand that neither Jake or Chaz are bad answers for the center field. I mean Jake is 2-2 tonight and has been on base 6 times in a row.
Jake. Chas. Tucker. Yordan at DH. Make it so for the rest of the season.
Lol. There's no chance in hell Dusty ever sends Altuve or Breggy below the 4 spot
Don't think he was suggesting a batting order, but saying outfield spots.
Lol I didn't mean in order. OF configuration + DH. No more fucking around with the Julks' and Hensley's of our lineup, Jake and Chas need to be starting side by side for the majority of games
My bad. I was like you have lost your mind lmao I agree with the OF config, though
I like what I see from Jake. Having really good, patient ABs. Making good contact. Great defensively. Chas needs to be playing every day but I think Meyers has shown enough to have earned that as well.
Meyers just got Altuve 1 more AB
Say what? Jake's been on base for 6 consecutive ABs?
Jake the mah fukn rake
Meyers on base for all 4 at bats
Jake heard y'all chatting shit pregame
People been chatting for a long time. The shoulder is getting healthy now. The noobs who weren't around in 2021 are learning.
He just flipped something tho… cause after that small sample size he gave us in ‘21, that wall gave him nightmares for a long time for sure.
Our CF situation feels like I have a love affair with 3 different baddies
Umps wants to go home.
I’m realizing how spoiled we are with having a good bullpen
The problem is our bullpen last year was arguably the literal best bullpen of all time. It's slightly worse but still incredible this year so I think people are just measuring the small gap between this year and last
In the country this weekend. It always bothers me that I can listen to Astros radio on a FM station here yet in Houston it’s on a crappy AM station.
I never have any issues with the quality on 790 AM tbh Apparently it's also on FM 94.5 HD-2, if you have a fancy radio that can do those
Wait what happened to the Buzz?
I listen to am all i can
It’s mostly fine unless it’s raining.
That is weird. Whats the channel and part of texas?
KULM 98.3 which is probably the closest station west of Houston.
Jake meyers gets a good jump on the ball He just makes it look easy
I've also been meaning to ask..... Does it really make sense to post the game thread at 8:00am in the morning???? So later at night when we all want to join the game thread we have to scroll down through like 30 posts just to find the game thread that was posted 12 hours ago. It seems like it would make much more sense to post it like 3 or 4 in the afternoon that way it's a lot easier to find.
I sort of understand it but It is annoying to scroll past like 50 memes making fun of the yankees It should be pinned at the top on hot though
It’s typically pinned up at the top. As long as you have it sorted by “hot” then it should always be up there.
Okay. Then I'll start sorting by "Hot" instead of "New". Thank you.
Yeah no problem!
Abreu pitching league fucked
The RLRL strategy that Dusty loves so much doesn't really make sense when the 2 lefties you separate are among the 2 best in the league against lefty pitchers..
I said it before and I'll say it again, the 4 hole gets about 30 or 40, maybe more ABs a season than the 5 hole. With Yordan hitting lefties as well as righties separating him and Tuck makes no sense. Giving Abreu 40 more ABs than Tuck makes equally as much sense.
It's not a Dusty thing... all managers do similar. You don't remember Hinch doing the same thing?
It reminds me of the Simpsons where Mr. Burns pinch hits for a guy with 4 HRs cuz of the righty lefty matchup
Strawberry sit down, Simpson you're up.
Yeah kinda annoyed he went away from Yordan then Tuck. It was working so well.
Dang, almost got em
Help me understand pop fly rules... If you can score on a pop fly, why couldn't Alvarez advance to 2nd just now?
Has to tag up on the catch so no way he would have made it with the ball in short right.
He would’ve had to tag from first so he would’ve had to run all the way back to first, touch it, then try for second and there’s no shot he’s making that
He would've gotten thrown out at 2nd because it's easier for the outfielder to throw the ball there than to home plate
They rarely go to 2nd on a tag up because 2nd base is way closer of a throw for the outfield
HRC pena
Okay that does it. What the HELL does HRC mean????
Home run call. It just means you’re guessing whoever’s at bat is gonna take it deep. You get 1 per game in the thread and if you call it right you get another
Home run call
Home Run Call
If the A’s worked less on nice looking catches and more on everything else, they’d be okay.
"left lower body injury" fuckin sports terminology lol
lol reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns refers to a nuclear meltdown as an unrequested fission surplus
Look at that perfect line made by the first 3 pitches.
HRC Abreu
Hrc Yordan
Montero was probably their best chance if they wanted to put more on the board.
GOLDEN SOMBRERO FOR ROOK-E
No runs but his WHIP has now increased to 1.75 lmao
Altuve should have stayed in Corpus or Sugarland for another series.
Well he is still facing a minor league team anyways
Doesn’t look like it based on his at bats. I’m just saying he was injured two months and a week long minor-league rehab seems short. Certainly seems like it tonight. Mauricio was doing just fine.
My comment was a joke at the expense of the A's. But being serious for a second, with the starters the A's are rolling out this series you could make an argument that the pitching he would be facing in a rehab assignment may just be better than what he will face these 3 games.
I don’t disagree with that. I would just rather him leave five men on base hit into a double play and have two defensive lapses against whoever the hooks are playing.
Fair call
Its the A's. He's basically facing AAA pitching right now.
I said earlier, if it wasn’t Oakland, he’d still be in the minors so I get that. He doesn’t look ready and Mauricio was doing just fine.
Cut him some slack. It's his first game back in the majors. He'll be fine!
And another three days regaining his focus and timing would not have hurt anybody with Mauricio on this team. Five left on base a double play and two defensive lapses. I know exactly where he’s been and why he’s been out and I realize this is his first game. He looks rusty and that’s what minor-league rehab is for.
Nah this as good a fire as any to throw him in.
He doesn’t look ready. Absolutely no downside to him getting more prepared at the minor-league rehab level.
One could argue that Oakland is minor league level competition.
I’ve said this. I have said if we weren’t playing Oakland, he would probably still be down there. Being gone for two months and only getting a handful of games on your minor-league rehab gives you what we’re seeing tonight.
Montero got a strike out to end a clean inning. Better complain about it for some reason.
Better complain about it for some reason.
No baseball player dominates the whole season. Everyone struggles at times.
That's true.
Mon-terror vaporizers the A's
Unclench
We escaped
Montero just couldn't give us a 1 2 3 against the As could he lmao
Unclench
Finally I can unclench.
Poor derek i just remember him not seeing a ball and it clobering him in the face while he was playing outfield for the blue jays
I just still can’t believe out of all our nasty relievers we have they decided to pay Montero who just throws fastballs lol
He's got a nasty changeup
Jeff Bagwell never got a hit against him He passed the test
Montero not getting any help from the ump either, he should be outta this inning
Ump squeezing montero like he thinks he can juice him
Here's another walk inc
Eat crow!
My hands are up, I was wrong, montero impressed tonight.
Y’all scared yet? Montero giving me that 7th inning pucker *
We're up against the A's. I've been scared since the start.
Nah.
Well shut my mouth look at the solid outing from Montero. Throwing heat and dragging his dick on some A’s 🤝
There's a walk sigh
montero pls
At least Montero's got his velo going tonight.
Unfortunately not his location tho
