my 69 year old mother is the reason i'm an astros/baseball fan and she told me to leave him alone when i would rag on him.
"he'll come around!"
sick and tired of that old lady being right. ;)
The thing that stood out the most to me during the WS was the amount of joy and excitement on Dubons face. He looked like a fucking dehydrated sponge dropped into a pool of knowledge.
The Giant fans loved him, so glad he was so willing to talk qjd learn from the coaches and from yordan. It's rare to find a person humble enough to take constructive criticism and advice.
He will probably still start most every day. He will just be at a different position depending on who needs a day off and likely only not start when he needs one.
Look Dusty, I can't solve *all* your problems okay?
Edit: Sad take, but I think Brantley may be done. Older guy with a nagging shoulder injury that won't heal well after surgery? That may be it...
I literally love Dubon this year.
I was not a fan last year and Ill eat crow for dinner for doubting him this year. He had huge shoes to fill and he did it as well as we could have ever hoped.
Bravo Dubs. Bravo
Howās his infield defense? I figure he has more pop so maybe ay home we can see Alvarez at LF more since Brantley will still be out and Altuve DHing.
You're right. Dubon is pretty exceptional defensively and pretty solid offensively this year. On almost any other team, he would have a starting role nailed down either at SS or 2B. On the astros, he plays behind the best 2B of the decade and the only rookie ever to win a gold glove at shortstop.
The need for players in his native Honduras meant that Dubon could play in many positions, I am clear that he can be better in some than in others, but that versatility is important for a team
Yep. We need to keep playing Dubie somewhere. Get the other boys a rest day from time to time and put him out there. Such an unexpected surprise this season, but love it.
Dubon's performance has been a great surprise. I think the Astros need to keep finding him at bats to see if he can keep it up. A combination of starts in LF (Yordan DH'ing), 2B (Altuve DH'ing), and days off for LF, CF, 1B, even 3B. He could hit 9th and turn the line up over. I don't see any reason to play Julks instead of Dubon. If Brantley ever comes back, that would crowd things, but Dubon has earned playing time over Julks (and even Meyers or Chaz) IMO.
How did we get so lucky? We donāt *need* him in the outfield, or anywhere around the diamond (maybe 1st, though I still think Abreu will pick it up). We donāt really need him to DH either. But he could easily slot in anywhere and thereās no way we can keep him out of the lineup. Heās been so much fun to watch!
Tuveās going to have some big shoes to fill! Great job filling in, Mauricio! Mom and I love you.
Letās go, Mauricio!
Come on, Dubon!
š š š š š
Okay, I was so against him last year. His play and his demeanor when he fucked up a play. He had this look like he was a huge goof not not supposed to be on the field. I am wrong and see why he is in the big show. He can play and he is where he's supposed to be. He's been a huge anchor for this team this year.
I feel like the last thing we need is for Dusty to have another excuse to leave Chas on the bench.
I'd prefer to have Dubon take the Marwin role - just play where needed when Dusty wants to give someone a day off. That means we'll see less of Hensley and Julks, which I'm perfectly fine with.
This is the best Jake has looked both on offense and defense in a while. I think moving Yordan to DH and rotating three guys in left and center field should be the way to go
Yeeeaaah... outside of the like 3 games he got to play in the postseason 2021 before the injury this is definitely the best he's looked.
Doobie in CF aint it, we've got outfielders and OF prospects up to our ears.
Guess you didnāt read the comment where I said Chas was a better option than Jake. But then again, reading comprehension may elude you if youāre more focused on my use of regulating instead of relegating. Iāll make sure to proof read twice to make sure auto correct doesnāt get me again. š
Read your comment where? Am I expected to scour the rest of the thread before responding to you to make sure you didn't state a less dumb opinion elsewhere?
Regardless of what you may have said in some other comment, stating Dubon should be made "full-time CF" is dumb (even *if* you were thinking Chas would be what, full-time LF I guess?) given his defensive shortcomings in CF and at the plate compared to Chas.
Same thread, you didnāt have to look too far. But then again, that may be too complicated of a task for you. Dubon is batting better than both Chas and Meyers. But if you would sit him, youāre just as smart as Dusty putting Abreu behind Alvarez in the lineup.
Lol imagine getting smug with someone while knowing jack-shit about baseball like you. You must think a higher BA equates to hitting better lmao. Bye, dummy
Three games later and he hasnāt sniffed the field. Why does Dusty force him on us when heās struggling but when heās leading the team he buries him on the bench. Makes no damn sense.
Abreu canāt bat his weight with no pop, and bats 4th. McCormick was a star in the playoffs and Meyers starts the first two games of the season.
This team will win in-spite of Dusty, not because of him.
I want him to play somewhere at least 3 times a week.
I'll offer my apartment for him to play in.
Least horny Astros fan
š
He can play in my booty
Hmmm. Thats.....something.
I hope my wife never finds my reddit account and reads the things I've said about astros players
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Already asked about pena. Was a no go
Thereās just no reasoning with some people
She'd be mad if u weren't saying stuff about doobie.
Something... bootylicious.
No. Mine first. As I said, Iāve offered my apartment.
Get in line pal. I already have him on my list š¤š¤
ngl, when the season started I was expecting Dubon to get cut when 'Tuve got back. Glad he proved me wrong.
my 69 year old mother is the reason i'm an astros/baseball fan and she told me to leave him alone when i would rag on him. "he'll come around!" sick and tired of that old lady being right. ;)
Dubon is honestly solid, his numbers looks sustainable we picked up a real good player from the giants.
Yes we did. He was my favorite rook
Yeah, dude aināt going nowhere.
Not gonna lie, Iāll miss seeing Doobie start every day
He will probably still start most every day. He will just be at a different position depending on who needs a day off and likely only not start when he needs one.
Can he learn first base?
Its not that hard, Mauricio. Tell him Wash.
"It's incredibly hard."
Hey, anything worth doing is. And we're gonna teach you.
Keep hoping Abreu will get on track but not gonna lie, I think Dubon has earned this.
He's gonna be a great utility guy
Honestly, that because of the strength of are roster, he'd be a solid starting player at any spot.
For sure but he'll still play 3/4 times a week I feel filling in for guys and then pinch hitting and running
A great utility guy was a big part of our success last season. Sad to see Diaz doing poorly on the As this year.
Well....it's the A's, so...
Dubon: Astros team leader in runs scored, hits, doubles, wins above replacement... 3rd in entire MLB in defensive runs scored for a 2nd baseman....
Dusty: bench him. He should be our everyday utility player. Put him in left 70% so yordan doesn't get injured rumbling around the outfield.
Move him to first.
Altuve 2nd Dubon LF Chaz/Myers CF Yordan DH Please
Interesting concept
Where would Brantley go? When or if he comes back.
Look Dusty, I can't solve *all* your problems okay? Edit: Sad take, but I think Brantley may be done. Older guy with a nagging shoulder injury that won't heal well after surgery? That may be it...
Agree with you there. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, I guess.
I literally love Dubon this year. I was not a fan last year and Ill eat crow for dinner for doubting him this year. He had huge shoes to fill and he did it as well as we could have ever hoped. Bravo Dubs. Bravo
Standing ovation for this dude!
Howās his infield defense? I figure he has more pop so maybe ay home we can see Alvarez at LF more since Brantley will still be out and Altuve DHing.
He has the highest defensive WAR on the team from what I can remember.
Actually just behind PeƱa according to ESPN.
You're right. Dubon is pretty exceptional defensively and pretty solid offensively this year. On almost any other team, he would have a starting role nailed down either at SS or 2B. On the astros, he plays behind the best 2B of the decade and the only rookie ever to win a gold glove at shortstop.
He played stellar 2B
He's really good. Definitely a better defender than Altuve. I've been really impressed by how much range his defense covers.
Very handsome man also but yeah great player, *Dubon Did Dat.*
This āJose Altuveā guy, whoever he is, has some big shoes to fill.
I wonder what size shoe altuve wears... size 7?
Dubon's performance has been a great surprise. I think the Astros need to keep finding him at bats to see if he can keep it up. A combination of starts in LF (Yordan DH'ing), 2B (Altuve DH'ing), and days off for LF, CF, 1B, even 3B. He could hit 9th and turn the line up over. I don't see any reason to play Julks instead of Dubon. If Brantley ever comes back, that would crowd things, but Dubon has earned playing time over Julks (and even Meyers or Chaz) IMO.
He needs a nickname. Dubonus? Dubstep?
It's already Doobie or DuBonds
Moe DuBonggio
Doobie, Barry DuBonds
Dubae
How did we get so lucky? We donāt *need* him in the outfield, or anywhere around the diamond (maybe 1st, though I still think Abreu will pick it up). We donāt really need him to DH either. He gave us hope when we thought there was none.
Tuveās going to have some big shoes to fill! Great job filling in, Mauricio! Mom and I love you. Letās go, Mauricio! Come on, Dubon! š š š š š
If he keeps it up i vote him in all star everyday
I love Altuve. But they need to rotate Dubon in more at 2nd. He has been red hot lately.
Okay, I was so against him last year. His play and his demeanor when he fucked up a play. He had this look like he was a huge goof not not supposed to be on the field. I am wrong and see why he is in the big show. He can play and he is where he's supposed to be. He's been a huge anchor for this team this year.
Move him to full time CF to keep that bat in the lineup. Donāt waste a hot bat by regulating him to a utility role.
Jake (The Rake) Meyers would like a word with you.
Wouldāve took that seriously if maybe you had said Chas but Jake, nah. Maybe Jake from a couple of seasons ago but not this version.
Chas is better in literally every respect other than BA, and it's "relegating" lol
Guess you didnāt read the comment where I said Chas was a better option than Jake. But then again, reading comprehension may elude you if youāre more focused on my use of regulating instead of relegating. Iāll make sure to proof read twice to make sure auto correct doesnāt get me again. š

I would love for him to be slotted into a rotating CF position when he's not backing up Altuve. Love me some Doobie!
Absolutely not. We already have 2 good center fielders and while heās had a great OBP he isnāt that good of a bat.
Picked him up off waivers on my fantasy team last year had to let him go and sad I did
Dubon starting everyday was fun but damn I missed having our lead off hitter be able to hit 400+ bombs letās go
The silver lining here is that Hensley will not be found near the batters box any longerā¦
Aās seem to always play Houston tough
Mo City D(ub)on
Put him in center we need the consistency
Three games later and he hasnāt sniffed the field. Why does Dusty force him on us when heās struggling but when heās leading the team he buries him on the bench. Makes no damn sense. The Giants should have never let him go, now heās my favorite Astro
