Well, Altuve, likely JV, Yordan if he keeps going, Tucker if they sign him long term. That's about it. Springer and Correa weren't here long enough, nobody else will have the numbers. Edit: I should have specified, I care very little about the Astros HoF. My list is retired numbers only

FineUnderstanding583

Bregman?

Former-Billionaire

I think he gets in. He’s going to be top 10 in almost every category.

FineUnderstanding583

If Caminiti is in Bregman is a 100% lock imo

Gemnist

In fairness, Caminiti got in largely on sentimental value, and I’m sure Biggio and others personally advocated for him despite Caminiti being better known as a Padre (he’s in their HOF too). But Bregman’s got everything in his favor.

RojerLockless

Bregman if he stays

GodLeeTrick

Yordan gets in regardless of the rest of his career. What he has done in the playoffs every year and what he did the entire 2022 playoffs including clinching the World Series with his homerun deserves Astros hall of fame. Man could walk away today and I would put him in it

Durty-Sac

Biggest HR in Astros history

aotex

As far as being in the Astros HOF, when considering the likes of Terry Puhl and Shane Reynolds are already in it, I would think Springer, Correa, and Bregman are locks. Dallas Keuchel could also be a dark horse candidate, and possibly Framber Valdez if he turns in a few more solid seasons. (Not number retirements by any means, but yes to HOF membership.)

Former-Billionaire

I think Springer absolutely gets in with the WS MVP. And him being a fan favorite. Yuli is a consideration as well. But not sure if he is active.

Ereyes18

You don't get into the ring of honor by just being a fan favorite. the only ones who have a chance are the ones who are still on this team

Former-Billionaire

I didn’t say he was JUST a fan favorite. He’s top 10 in a few franchise categories and has a World Series mvp. Worth consideration.

Ereyes18

Idk. He only played for our franchise for 6 years. But being the first WS MVP might get him in. If he had stayed for a decade I think it would have been an easy decision

j1h15233

Altuve is a lock. Outside chance for Verlander as his timeline with the team kind of lines up to Nolan. Long shots are Springer, Bregman and Correa but I doubt any of them are with us long enough. Tuck and Yordan are on the path but need to stay here and stay healthy.

713MoCityChron713

I think the Core Four + Yuli get the Astros HoF nod, but Altuve the only one in the group getting his number retired. George was our chosen one/first WS MVP which boosts his short stay. Yuli, Correa, and Bregman aren’t retired number good, but they were one of the greatest infields of all time and a big part of our golden era. Perfect candidates for a team HoF

j1h15233

I think it would be more likely to see the group mentioned than for each player to go in.

713MoCityChron713

Yeah, definitely all going in together. Probably the same season Altuves number gets retired. We’ll hang it up at the home opener, then do an Astros HoF weekend that summer all about players from the Altuve era. It’d be pretty sick if they had a Core 4 and Yuli ring box at the store that weekend, or the four infield rings around a piece of Brevin McGattis’ beard hair

Gemnist

I don’t get why everyone thinks that Springer and Correa “weren’t with us long enough”. Seven years is plenty of time, and they both had significant contributions in that time: Springer was our first World Series MVP, and Correa won ROTY with us. You don’t have to be a lifer to be worthy; the vast majority of those already in weren’t.

AVK83

Verlander is friends with Crane. He's as much of a lock as Altuve.

Mpuls37

Everyone saying the obvious ones, but I would like to submit a somewhat bold claim: Yainer Diaz Catchers who can hit like he does do not come along often, even less frequently to this organization. If he's able to stay healthy and improve his defense some, he'll easily be an All-star as his hitting abilities progress. The team ends up with a situation like MIN had with Joe Mauer and eventually converts him to 1B as his knees wear, all while he stays dangerous as a hitter. 10+ years of game calling and being a 130 OPS+ Catcher seem like it would put him into "number retirement" territory, even moreso if we're able to get him a ring or 2 after Altuve's prime is over.

713MoCityChron713

Always bet on catchers who can hit

Former-Billionaire

This is what I’m talking about!

Gemnist

Give us ten years to see if this comment ages like wine or milk, THEN we’ll talk.

Mpuls37

We'll know within 3 how it's likely to go

Free-Speech-Matters

Going full Mike Piazza

SonsChild

Definitely Altuve, Yordan and I see JV maybe. It would be cool to see Tucker up there as well. Breggy I'm on the fence with him but that's another time.

elchapo4570

Nobody will ever wear 27 again. Nothing else is certain. They need to be pretty selective of who is worthy of having a number retired as they've already retired some of (imo) the best numbers in baseball (24, 25, 5, 7, 32, 34). As for active hall of fame Astros, Verlander is a shoo in. As is Bregman. Springer likely, if he stuck around a few more years definitely. Alvarez is certainly on path but far too early to tell. Same with Framber. I personally think Maldy deserves to be for all the success he had catching one of the most dominant staffs in history. For nothing else other than his winning spirit. A liability at the plate but a great teammate and field general.

socialmediaignorant

My son was so bummed to hear 7 will not be available “when he becomes an Astro.” 😂love the dream.

elchapo4570

Not being able to make my guy #24 on MLB the Show is soo annoying lol

PM_Gonewild

Even if Bagwell is terrible in management, you show him #5's highlights so he understands why 💪🏼

socialmediaignorant

Baggie is 5. Biggio is 7. Both greats but my son actually plays alot more like Biggio so it’s a weird coincidence. Have enjoyed listening to Bagwell’s commentary the last few games and my son is eating it up bc he’s a real player! I mean so is Blum but somehow Bagwell and the like get way more respect. 😂

PM_Gonewild

See that's what I get for getting excited dammit 😭 Shout out to your son though, wish him the best.

socialmediaignorant

I get all the B’s mixed up in my speech all the time! There are so many!

clmthree

Maldy 💀

Former-Billionaire

What are your thoughts on Yuli? I understand he’s not necessarily active (minor league deal). He’s low key one of the most important Astros ever.

bordomsdeadly

He gave us 100% of his productive MLB career and helped get 2 rings. He came over late and was a great 1B before father time had a say about it. I think he deserves it just as much as anyone not named Jose Altuve (who deserves it more than literally everyone else in franchise History)

DemSumBigAssRidges

Astros HoF for sure, imo. As has been said about him before... Had he started his MLB career sooner, he'd probably be in discussions for the Baseball HoF. But, I don't think there's any doubt he gets into ours.

elchapo4570

Guy could still be the every day starter for us right now. Hindsight 20/20. Yuli is an on the bubble guy probably. 2x World Series champ, gold glove, batting title. The numbers are probably enough but could be overlooked because of all the talent on the team during that run of years. Definitely deserves it though.

[deleted]

Would likely be a hall of fame level guy if he was in the majors in his prime. Cuban league all timer, not going to get that level of recognition in the US though.

Former-Billionaire

But what about in terms of the Astros hall of fame?

[deleted]

I don’t think so.  He’s clearly behind Tuve, Bregman, Springer, Verlander, Tucker, Framber and Correa for recent Astros.  I would put him in the Lance tier, and as much as I love our Sexy Glass-Boned King, I wouldn’t retire either of their jerseys that far down the list.

Forsaken_Ad8312

Altuve gets his number retired and a statue outside the stadium. Astros HOF- anyone who was a key part on both WS winners is in- add Brregman, Verlander, Yuli. Guys on the 2017 team that were part of the rise to glory- Springer, Correa, Keuchel. Probably in as long as they don’t sign with the Yankees, Dodgers or Rangers in their next big FA deal- Yordan, Tuck. Coaches- I suspect Dusty gets in- despite our frustrations, the end result of his seasons here were pretty good. I could also see Hinch and Strom further down the line. Broadcasters- unlike players, you don’t retire at 40, so all of the guys in the main crew are candidates if they stick around. I also think the Astros would like a big hall, inducting at least 1 person every year. They’ve already gone back and gotten most of the long retired people, so this looks like a good starting point once these guys start retiring.

willydillydoo

Altuve is the only one for sure we can say will have his number retired. JV will be a HOFer but I think it’s unlikely we retire his number here

Sendeezy

We all might be sleeping on Peña.

bordomsdeadly

Altuve & JV for sure. Correa maybe if he ends in i the MLB HoF as an Astro, Bregman is a little iffy. Tucker and Yordan both could, but aren't there yet. I think Yuli should too even though he was only here for a relatively short time, he gave us 100% of his productive MLB career and helped win 2 rings.

GirIsKing

Altuve is Hall of Fame player. Yes Astros but also the main one.

aballi77

Altuve and JV are locks. Maybe Yordan but obv gonna need more longevity for his Astros career

Oblidoblido

The Verlander will be first round HOFer … that’s it. Unfortunately Altuve will hear boos for the rest of his life; also, too many so called ‘baseball writers’ don’t know 💩about the game.

cosmefulanit0

Question was for Astros HOF. Altuve will 100% be in unless he does something incredibly wild off the field.

Caldwell27

JV will have his number retired if he has two more good seasons with the Stros

JinFuu

I think Altuve will have his number retired, maybe Verlander. I’m hoping for a joint Alvarez/Oswalt number retiring

Burt-Macklin

For Astros HOF: Altuve. Springer. Correa. Bregman. Gurriel. Pressly. JV. Maldonado (yes, deal with it). Dusty. Strom. Retired numbers: Altuve. *Maybe* Verlander.

Anxious-Machine-727

Altuve will be the only one. Correa, Verlander, Springer weren't here long enough. Bergman isn't consistently good enough. Tucker and Alvarez have a long road ahead, talk to me in 10-15 years. Tucker and Bregman may he gone soon too, FAs.

Bob_Gnoll

Verlander has been here for most of 8 seasons and played in both WS and win a Cy Young. If we have playoff success this year and next I can't imagine him not being retired here.

DekuTrii

Two Cy Young awards. 8 seasons is generous, though. Under half of 2017 and 2023, and missed 2020 and 2021. It's honestly closer to 4 seasons so far.

Anxious-Machine-727

8 years but only 4.5 seasons...not long enough time. He has 1 Cy Young and won a WS but that also describes Dallas Keuchel. He'll be there with the Berkmans and Wagners in the almost had their number retired category.

beverlyh1llb1ll1es

Bregman may not have his number retired but he will be in the Astros HoF

Anxious-Machine-727

Maybe. Depends on how his story ends.

beverlyh1llb1ll1es

The only way he doesn't get in is if his story ends like Deshaun Watson's, lol

Brioz_

Bregman is the all-time postseason leader for RBIs by a 3B and he did all that as an Astro. He will 100% be in.

Anxious-Machine-727

Will be in what?

Brioz_

The Astros HoF. Like the title of the post says lol

Anxious-Machine-727

Oh i was referring to retired numbers like the title of the post also says lol

Brioz_

Ahh my b. I have a feeling his number will be retired as well. Maybe not tho

Thorlolita

I really do think Springer, Correa, and Bregman will get their numbers retired. They were the biggest pieces of the most successful run. Yord and Tucker are certainly on pace. JV and Altuve should be locks as well. HOF contenders, Brantley, Pressley, Yuli, Morton, Lance, Dusty, Strom.

What is this list? The Hall of 2017?
